From the outside, you would never guess how exceptional this downtown Excelsior, MN shop is. The owner, Mark and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable. They have been quick and professional in all the advice that they have given us over the years. They offer top quality bike gear, as we continue to embellish our bikes, which makes riding the Excelsior bike trails even more fun and safe. I think they are most noteworthy for their repair service. You don’t feel like they are rushing the job to get done. The passion to do the bike repair possible comes through. Which part to use seems well thought out and options clearly explained. The shop is thoughtful of timelines and works hard to complete orders to accommodate vacations and road bicycle sporting events. Their pro service attitude is tops. They are ideally located to assist riders on the 3 River parks trail, should a flat occur. I enjoyed using my leather bike pouch, helmet, front and back bike reflector lights, and that I purchase last summer and used the whole season. They offered the hard-to-find helmet size that we couldn’t find elsewhere. We have three different types of bikes and it really handy that they have accessories that fit all of them. They have a fun selection of retro style Linus bikes – I’m thinking about the bike basket that looks great and holds more. Looks like to goes off and on easily and would make taking along picnic items no problem. As winter’s cold runs on, we’re already planning when we can be back on the bike path. High recommended.

This is an absolutely fantastic local bike shop. They're professional, courteous, and know their bikes -- gravel, road, MTB, fat, and CX! And if they don't have a product you're looking for in the store, they'll get it for you!

Mark and his crew are fantastic! I sincerely am grateful for all the help he's given me since he opened. I did not even buy my bike from him, and I'm embarrassed to admit that! They weren't open yet when I bought. My latest situation was a recall failure on my specialized bike. I called Mark lastnlast and he told me to bring it in. He dug through a parts bin and gave me the correct part, put it on the bike for me, and wouldn't accept payment. He just told me to bring it back after the recall fixed my bike properly. He got me on the road with the right number of bikes for our upcoming family vacation. I can't speak enough about his pro service attitude, friendly spirit, bike knowledge and professionalism. You cannot go wrong at South lake cycle!

At first appearance the shop looks a little small. Only seemed to have to people working but if you're like me that's a good thing! A real mom and pop shop! Very friendly people that know exactly what they are doing. I had two old bikes to drop off. One was just a tune up and the other a repair. Was told the part may have to be replaced which could take a while to come in. They call me the next day and tell me BOTH were done and instead of replacing the part they actually fixed it themselves. Saved me a lot of time and money! Great price for a tune up and repair. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for anything to repairs to tune ups. Great local place. Will be back someday!

These guys were able to troubleshoot and fix my problem while I was in the store. I'm afraid if I'd brought it to a different store I would have ended up buying a bunch of new parts that I didn't need. These guys got me back on the trail in no time flat and I'll be back for all of my repair needs. Give them a shot.

My husband and I had a wonderful time renting fat tire bikes from this awesome bike shop in Excelsior. What a wonderful amenity to have in this charming town just off the 3 River parks trail. The customer service was great and the owner was super nice to chat with and the bike ride was wonderful to experience. We will do it again for certain. :)

I love going to a store where I know the staff will be helpful, knowledgeable and will get you just what is needed. That has been my experience every time I stop in here. I took my 25 year old mountain bike in for its first tune up. It came back running like brand new! Mark took his time and it showed! Thank you South Lake Cycle. I am excited to see you again!

Rented a fat tire bike for a round-trip 3-hour ride to Victoria down a groomed, snow-free trail on a sunny December day. Fantastic experience and a great service! I phoned in ahead of arrival and had my bike ready for me. Highly recommended!

Mark and his crew go above and beyond at South Lake Cycle. I had Mark help me build an electric bike and it turned out exceptionally well. His attention to detail was next level. It took loads of time researching and configuring my bike (this was not a normal bike build) and now it's a year-round, commuting monster. If you're looking for a local bike shop in the western suburbs, this is your place. Great people, great bikes, solid mechanics, and good gear.

The best local bike store I could imagine. Mark and his staff are incredibly knowledgeable and will get your bike looking and riding like new. I've given them everything from 40 year old road bikes with bent rims to new mountain bikes that needed some wrenching after a particularly hard crash. Everything has come back better than new and at the best price in the area. I highly recommend this shop as your first destination for anything bike related.

Took my 20 yr Schwinn in for a tune up. Now works like new. Fair prices nice people. They know bikes. Most other shops have kids running the place and can't answer questions the same. Wife ended up buying a new bike same day. Very happy. Highly recommend.

"We'll get ya taken care of..." That was the phrase that made me smile. I had called several other shops in the area for service and everyone else was booked for double-digit days. Here, I was able to get in right away. The service didn't go quite as planned, but the staff were always on top of things and informed me of the status along the way. New parts had to be ordered and didn't arrive when they thought. Instead of waiting for me to call and ask if things were done, they called me up and let me know the situation had changed. Things were completed when they said. Prices were what they said. And they were super friendly, understanding and honest. I love these guys and you will too.

Mark and the crew at South Lake are the best! I wouldn't take my bike anywhere else. They were so gracious about helping fix my bike after a Minnetonka LTR incident. It would have been a LONG walk home had they not repaired my bike ...I hesitate to add they opened up just to help on a day they are usually closed. Many, Many thanks!!!

Super helpful and genuine! Pulled off the trail to address a squeak and they ushered me right in and fixed the issue and had me on the trail again within minutes while explaining how I can amend the issues myself. Wish I had more time to get other things done. They know their stuff! I'm about 60 miles from the area, but I'll definitely be back here to let them do the extensive work as their prices are reasonable and the technique is true.

I locked myself out of my car next door to this shop, phone and everything. I walk in and asked if I could borrow their phone so I could call roadside assistance to get me in my car. Mark, an employee or owner, not sure which sensed my frustration. So he hands me a $10 bill and says go have a beer on me while you wait for roadside assistance to arrive, Ford told me it would take up to 60 minutes. So I did. I came back, and roadside assistance arrive. You really don't see this kind of generosity anymore, especially in retail. It's nice to know there are still genuinely caring, nice people in this world ! EVERYONE. BUY ALL YOUR BIKES AND ACCESSORIES FROM THIS SHOP!

South Lake Cycle to the rescue! Biking the Dakota Rail Trail and got a flat tire. Called them to see if they could send someone out to fix as we were 7.5 miles from our car. They did, whereas another bike shop would not. Sent out Ben, the nicest guy, who showed us how to fix a flat and made the repair. Thanks so much for saving our day and a big thank you Ben for driving out to where we were and fixing our flat for a small fee.

Really nice staff and ownership. I got a flat on the trail near by and walked to the shop but they were closed. They came to the door and opened back up and fixed my flat. Very generous of them and they also have great bikes.

Super friendly and helpful staff. Very convenient location, right off the Minnetonka LRT bike path. They helped me right away with a tricky broken screw (that eventually had to be drilled out) and charged very little. Honestly a delight to visit!
