I've had repairs done there and purchased two bikes from Now Bikes & Fitness. They have the most knowledgeable staff from owners, managers, sales and mechanics. They all know their stuff. They want to get you in the right bike, right size and best fit for your budget. I trust them completely! Thanks for another great experience!!

Update: I spoke with the shop owner Richard and he was very helpful and willing to make things right. He followed up with me promptly and was happy to help resolve the situation. Overall he was great to work with. Will definitely swing back into the shop the next time I'm in the area.

I'm rather disappointed in the bike fit experience I received here. I booked an appointment with a couple goals, to optimize my fit on my current bike and to get an idea of what bike geometry would fit me best for a future upgrade.
Based on their website, the 'guru' bike fit seemed like a great, comprehensive option, which claimed to include:
Flexibility assessment
Laser measurements of current bike coordinates
Up to 20 position captures including customer’s existing bike for comparison during bike fit
Video motion capture analysis using body point markers
Saddle positioning
Handle bar reach and stack
Body landmark review
Power output analysis
Shoe fit evaluation
Cleat placement
Final fit output and data storage
Summary sheet with exact fit coordinates to modify new or existing bike
Recommendations of bikes most appropriate to your fit coordinates
What I received was less than half of the items on the list. No flexibility assessment, no 'laser' measurement of my current bike (he did hand measure), no video motion capture, no body landmark review, no power output analysis, no shoe fit evaluation, no cleat placement.
He didn't ask what type of riding I do, which I would think is an important piece of information for a bike fit. He also didn't take my actual body measurements. He asked how tall I am, then typed in generic measurements for inseam and handlebar width (I'm 6', 145lbs: 44cm bars are far too wide for me).
As another review stated, it was basically a 'is this position better or worse' session with no consideration for the type of riding I do.
The 'recommendation of bikes most appropriate to me,' was, "probably an endurance bike, but something more aggressive would probably work too". I was expecting something a little more specific like a range of values for stack/reach that I should try to look for based on my measurements, flexibility, type of riding etc...
Perhaps my expectations were too high going into it, but for $250 I expected a comprehensive bike fit, and to not feel like I'm inconveniencing him by being there.
Based on other reviews, it sounds like their service is great, I just wouldn't recommend the bike fit.

This shop is Excellent. There is a reason I drive from Minneapolis to STP for anything bike related. It is because the mechanics are very knowledgeable and thorough. The team at the front of the store knows about everything from nutrition, to gear, and the latest bikes. If you let them, this shop will be your second family.

A great experience at Now Bikes & Fitness. They helped recommend a great mountain bike within my price range and with more features than I was expecting. Put it together, and spent time with me on the day of purchase to size it correctly, explain the bike, and answer all my questions. I had a great time from start to finish and highly recommend this bike shop for their knowledge and friendliness. Can't wait to ride this summer!

bought a bike online the other day and it was delivered today. Rich dropped the bike off gave me all kinds of useful tips and a really happy with the way things went. very much recommending these guys to anybody I know that’s buying a bike. Great experience And look forward to using them when I need other parts and need more bikes.

Found the staff to be super professional but also pretty fun. Have had two bikes built by Sam Sam (see the mechanic with the shiny head) and the work was impeccable. Love my new Cervelo R5! Over the fall and winter I did the Tuesday evening Wahoo classes, those were a nice way to stay motivated and use a super nice trainer.

It's getting harder to find a small bike shop that isn't generally condescending towards someone who isn't a regular or otherwise "in" with them, or doesn't have staff that act like they're God's gift to this world and you're wasting their heaven-sent time. I think NOW is one of the rare finds that isn't like that. The techs were great - no nonsense, friendly, and did exactly what I needed without trying to sell me something else. Kudos to them for doing a headset installation on the spot since they weren't busy at the moment - most other places would have told me to wait at least a few days, while they even beat the time frame they gave me when I emailed them (thanks to Sam for responding so quickly). Definitely going back next time something inevitably breaks on a ride.

I’ve been a “cyclist” for about 5 years now. I’ve been to a lot of shops trying to learn the ins and outs of cycling and what works best for me. I’ve never been treated better than by the staff at Now Bikes. I’ve worked with Bob, Rich and Ambrose so far but am impressed with the staff overall. I’m not from the Twin Cities originally so it’s a grind at times to find folks who genuinely care about your experience if you don’t know someone in the scene. These guys are awesome and will have my business going forward. They’ve setup my bikes perfectly, helped me find the right gear and been super accommodating throughout the process. I highly recommend working with this group. There are so few retailers left out there who have a vested interest in your happiness. Hats off to this group. I’m truly excited to work with them going forward.

This is the most honest shop, with truly caring sales staff who are interested in your enjoyment of the sports and fitness world. Independently owned and operated with two locations to serve you. They let me make payments on my bike, they have great sales regularly and a clearance rack for gear. Parking might be tough, so on-street is an option, too. They have classes, their staff makes sure you have what you need to be ready for a ride and they’re always interested in meeting your budget for gear. I have spent hours shopping with them and they are consistently patient with my numerous and persistent questions. My favorite shop!

Ordered a Scott Genius that wasn’t supposed to ship for a couple of months. Lucky for me it came in a month early and I had just found out I had to move out of state for work. They got the bike built right away even though it’s the busiest time of the season for their service department. I got my bike before moving down to Arizona and I’m super happy about my experience with these guys. Thanks to Mike and Blake in sales and the whole service department.

Great service department! Shop knows their stuff!! Would highly recommend for any of your bicycle needs whether you're a new rider or think riding 100 miles in a day is just a warm up!

Nice folks, both in the shop and in the surrounding community that they actively support, in part by organizing the Synergy Bike Club. I ride with the club, and I've been happy with the service. I only bring in tricky repairs, but I have yet to stump Sammy Sam. They have a great selection of high-end bikes for me to drool over, but I recommend my beginner friends come here to make sure they get the proper fit. Their fitting process is second to none in the cities.

EDIT: I talked with Rich the manager and he was remarkable. He was not defensive at all about his shop and wanted me to know they strive to give people the type of experience they were looking for, and I got the sense that he really wanted to improve. I also ended up talking with him for a while too about cranksets as I was going to be replacing (by myself) the stock cranks with shorter ones, and had spent the last 2 weeks or so learning all about bottom bracket standards, crank standards, etc. Rich was able to walk me through a lot of those things as well and was INCREDIBLY knowledgeable and passionate. We discussed why I was doing it and even knew how many other triathletes had gotten shorter cranks from his shop, what lengths they used, and that none had ever returned to longer cranks.
In the end, I purchased a set of short rotor cranks from them and I'll be having Now bikes do the install as well. I'm beginning to think that my experience was indeed an anomaly.

Had all the charm of buying off a website without the low prices.
I came in knowing exactly what I wanted to buy as I did all my research and got fit specifically for the bike. They were around 800 hundred dollars more than competitive online retailers but could not lower their price by more than 400. Still, I wanted to support a LBS. But the buying experience was really not all that great. The salesman had about the same excitement as if I was buying a new tube both when I bought it and when I picked it up. I tried to talk shop to them but it felt like pulling teeth and it really was not the experience I thought I would get for an extra $400. Other places I've bought a bike too they usually send me off with a water bottle, didn't even get that from them.
Overall, if you don't know what you want, they'd probably be fine helping you out and add value that way. But if you have done the research and know exactly what you want, I'd only go there if they are cheaper than what you could get online.

Best bike shop in town. I was fitted for a new bike this past spring and after riding for several months now I can say that the fit is excellent and the bike was also very well setup with regards to shifting and braking. The sales staff and mechanics are very knowledgeable and passionate about cycling. The group rides that the staff hosts out of the St Paul bike shop are also very enjoyable.

I shopped at several bike shops before going to NOW Fitness to buy my bike. I made my decision to buy my bike 30 minutes after I got there and had a conversation with one of the sales people. I knew that their customer service and knowledge about their products and fitting them to their buyer was better than anyplace else I had been. Their mechanics are the best too! I LOVE my new bike and the shop is great!!

Every time I've been in there, it's been an A+ experience. Sam back in the repair shop has been IMMENSELY helpful to me during the process of picking out and ordering components for my from-scratch road bike build. Additionally, he's treated me with kindness, respect, and sincerity and didn't leave me feeling like an idiot novice.
We talked a few times on the phone to make sure that I was getting the right components, and even verified the final order before moving forward with the parts order. I felt that I was being clearly communicated with all throughout the process. So huge props to him.
All the front staff have also been super friendly and helpful, too. Their "take off" box of saddles was a GREAT deal — used saddles taken off disassembled bikes and resold for REALLY tremendous prices. I'm pretty sure I landed a used $200+ seat for $20.
Great place, I highly recommend it.
Mike Neumann
Excellent customer service, great people. Products that I've not seen in any other bike shop in town, with great prices. Bought a bike "trunk" bag that was inexpensive, great quality, and made by a local company. If you're looking for bags, don't buy one before you stop here. The best staff I've seen in a Twin Cities bike shop. This place isn't close to my house, but I might make the trip there for the good customer service.

Came all the way from South Minneapolis because we had a helpful email exchange with the owner. We came in to try a couple of bikes and came home with both of them! Excellent, personalized customer service from everybody there. They acted like they had all the time in the world and showed us infinite patience. The employees were smart, creative (on a couple of adaptations) and extremely pleasant to work with. Very good price on our bikes. I'd give more stars if I could!
Ben Nicholas
Rich helped me find the perfect bike that was within my price range. I just started biking and wanted to purchase a great starter hybrid bike. Rich went over the pros and cons of each bike and I was able to purchase a fantastic Cannondale bike from Now Bikes & Fitness! Thank you so very much!!
Sean McGuire
I've purchased all of my bikes from this shop. I just recently purchased a new HED racing wheelset (which are incredible) and the customer service and knowledge of the workers is second to none. I recommend the shop to all of my buddies who are looking for a bike shop. I also had my bike tuned up and worked a lot with Sam and I want to say that he and the other guys in the back are incredible at what they do. I highly recommend checking this place out if you haven't been.
Emily Fleming
Everytime I've been in staff has been helpful, so am happy for that. They don't carry a lot of steel bikes, but if you're looking for aluminum or carbon it's probably one of your better options. They just raised the price of their bike tubes to like $8.99. I bought the EXACT same tube, box and everything at Lowertown Bike Shop for $3 less. Just saying...
Matthew Syzdek
Knowledgable, friendly staff that give excellent recommendations (especially Rich). They never pressure you or try to upsell you. Excellent products. They are really dedicated to building a cycling community too. I wouldn't shop at another bike shop.

A breath of fresh air from the chain store bike shops in town; the customer service is great! Good variety of non-oem parts (not that seeing Bon*****r or Sh****o printed on everything is bad.)
I stopped in for a couple sets of brake pads, and the manager chatted up a storm with me, he took interest in my project bike, instead of attempting to sell me a new one.
Billy Ring
The staff at this store are knowledgeable and friendly. I went to the store one time and as I was checking out, the guy said they were running a sale on the weekend and he would give me the discount then (it was a Thursday). On another occasion I brought my wheel in because it had a broken spoke. After they fixed my spoke I found out the wheel was wearing thin and was not reliable. I told them of an upcoming tour and I opted for a tune up. One of the mechanics stopped me with my receipt for fixing the spoke and they said they would wave the fee since I was getting a tune up. I definitely trust their judgement since I was trying to fix some of the issues on my used bike. I have definitely found my neighborhood bike shop.
Paul Burnham
I knew very little about the different styles of bikes. They walked me through all my options, let me look around for myself and even encouraged me to take a few for a spin. I love my bike. I brought 2 people in and they got bikes they love too.
They were fantastic and I recommend them to everyone.
Carina Rodriguez
Very friendly and helpful staff greeted me quickly and helped me find a bike for my size and needs. Left with the perfect bike at a competitive price and a few accessories which they installed for no additional cost.
Vanessa Laura
I am a totally naive (and new) bike rider. I came in looking for a bike accessory. I was told that what I wanted didn't exist and would not work. I was shown a product that didn't really do what I wanted and was so much more than I wanted to spend. But again, I trusted that they were experts. Later that day, I went home and found that the exact product I wanted existed, worked well, and was about half of what I spent at the store. I would have really really appreciated just being told that they didn't have the product, but that it was available. I give the store 3 stars because they were friendly.
Danielle Takahashi
I brought my running style stroller in and they were able to repair the spoke in the front wheel, saving me money on a new stroller! They were helpful and didn’t seem to mind my strange request. Thanks!

I needed a part sourced for my bike. Pat was nice, respectful and attentive. After this experience I'll be driving 20 minutes to take my bike there for service and will look to Now Bikes St. Paul when it comes time to upgrade.
Paul Drees
Great selection for new bikes, but no used section as far as I could tell. Clearly for upper end cyclists (when I went in their lowest priced bike was $700) but if that's your thing, you should try it out.
Paige Aleece
The staff was super nice and very helpful! The COVID signs on the door made me nervous to call ahead for help/entrance, but everyone was so nice and very accommodating. Will come back next time I need something bike-related
Bobby Jones
They were helpful and able to help me find a part for an older bike with no problem at all !!
William White

Awesome and knowledgable team willing to help and to chat. If your in the market for a bike, take your self down to Now Bikes! They are on of the only Jamis retailers locally and Jamis makes great bikes.

Went to Erik's, then went here. Night and day difference. Workers obviously have a passion for biking, and really know their stuff. A bit expensive, yes, but sometimes you pay for the hardware help. Great place.
