This place is amazing! I've been going to this shop for about 7 years now and they never disappoint or try and haggle you into getting something you don't want/need.
Staff is knowledgeable and very kind, they will ask what your budget is to make sure they give you choices to find what it is your looking for. They also have a section of used parts as well if your just trying to get a quick cheap fix.
Bought my first "adult" bike and other then the occasional tune up it's still rides like a champ!
I will be bringing my daughter for a new bike as well once her current ride gives out.

This is a wonderful bike shop owned by kind-hearted, hardworking folks. They took my Miyata 610 touring bike and helped make it absolutely fabulous. I love my bike, every time I ride it, I am reminded of the careful selection of appropriate parts for a 36 year old bike. They did a great job with my bar-wrap and they made sure my bike fit me well. The friendly atmosphere is complete with faithful American Bulldog (what a sweetie). Crystal and her husband have a good working relationship and give jobs to folks who need a place to start from. I have to say, it’s super fun to bring your bike to the Union Depot. You can step off the train and get your bike fixed, stop for lunch in the grand hall, and visit with great bike people. There’s a good mix of old and new and used. Trust Crystal to help fit your bike to you and you to a new or used bike. Great selection of parts and willingness to make sure you can get what you need when you need it. Positive and affirming culture, no matter who you are. Trust Lowertown Bike for all your bike needs!

Lowertown Bike Shop sets the standard for how a bike shop should operate. The owners and staff are warm and inviting, and their inventory is curated with brands that they stand by. It's clear that they care deeply about the work that they do, so you can trust that they're not going to try to upsell you some shiny, expensive boiler-plate bike just to make a few extra bucks.
I worked with them to build a custom commuter bike, and they blew my expectations away at every step of the process. They took the time to get to know me and my needs as a cyclist so they could build the perfect machine - and they did! They would call me during the building process to give me updates, and I could tell that they had a genuine passion for working on it and bringing it to life.
This bike is now my primary mode of transportation, and it means so much to know that it was built by people who care. I don't think I could with clear conscience recommend any other bike shop.
If you want a bike shop for life, this is where you go. Plain and simple.

LOWER TOWN has repaired bikes for me and built me a custom winter commuting bike. They are my favorite bike shop. They were able to make my old bike ride better than it did when I bought it new and did some customizations so it would work better for the way I ride. They also brought my winter bike back from the dead after a season of abuse from salt and chemicals and hard riding. They are friendly, knowledgeable, and have truly excellent customer service.

Decided to break out my eight-year-old Schwinn from college this summer to get out on the trails in St. Paul. I had let the bike sit and go unused for many years, a few of them outside, so I brought it to Lowertown Bike Shop to see if they could do a full tune up and get me another year out of it. I was pretty sure it would never ride that great again, but man did they do an AMAZING job. The bike works better than ever and I am so grateful to be getting many, many miles out of it this summer. My partner and I are now storing out biked at Lowertown Bike Shop, too--an awesome option for folks living in condos. I can't wait to explore a new bike next year and get advice from a shop I trust.

I was disappointed when the Smallest Cog moved but these guys are pretty good. Fixed my bike same day at a reasonable price. Brought a couple bikes in for service and i have no complaints. Have to have some work done today (why do bike brakes have to be so complicated now?) so I will be heading back shortly!

Had a flat back tire, brought to Lowertown, they charged $11 Or $12. , was the only thing wrong with the bike except brakes they barley worked so they fixed the tire I rode out and about an hour later my back wheel stard moving to the left my gears was switching I called but they was closed left a message saying the man messed bike up literally like no riding, my guy said go act out snap get your $ back and make them fix it i was like they did fix it my tire isnt flat no more. So it took me a few weeks to bring it so they day before I got on the bike to check it again I was good then it started acting up tire rubbing from moving gears shifting by them selves and I had picked speed crashed scraped my leg arm real real bad I got it there next day the lady said she will check it when I got my Cadillac back she was in better shape than when I brought it in breaks works and it ride like a mf bike. I am very happy happy thank you

The staff of Lowertown Bike shop are knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. I've done two different builds with them and both bikes are still rolling with minimal upkeep. I've recommended multiple friends and family members to the shop, and I will continue to in the future. Best bike shop in the twin cities - highly recommend!

This is my favorite bike shop! Extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff, great location, and it's really cool that they're a nonprofit. When they don't have an item in stock, I can always count on them to get it special ordered.
I've been coming here for years, can't believe it took this long to occur to me that I should leave a review. 😅

A tube puncture blew a tire off the rim and damaged the bead. I found LBS on google and saw it was only a 10 minute walk, so i made my way over. They take apple pay so I was able to make a purchase without my wallet, had what I needed for my road bike, and didn't need to call an Uber, friend/family, etc.
They said 4 people called, but i was in first so I was offered service first, but I was equipped to handle it, so I handled it and let them be available for others.
So nice, a wonderful shop, and good selection!
