This place is 1st class. I stopped in while out of town for work to check out a bike I’ve been wanting. They were extremely courteous, professional, and attentive. If only all businesses functioned this way.

Marcy instantly greeted me when I walked into the store. I told her what I was interested in, Trek Dual Sport2, in blue. She had one in stock and got the bike down and went over it, then suggested that I take it for a ride. She got the saddle adjusted and off I went. When I got back to the store, she asked me if I had any questions, and if I liked the bike. She also suggested that she had other colors in that TS2 and that it wouldn’t take long to assemble one if I wanted a different color. I told her that I wanted this particular bike due to the blue is hard to find. Marcy was very knowledgeable, friendly and a wonderful lady to talk to. I would strongly recommend this store and see Marcy!

I felt extremely comfortable getting assistance from a lady with purple hair(sorry I can't remember her name, and the bike mechanic Ken or Kenneth was extremely helpful and worked with care and answerd my novice questions without any condescending tone or judgment. My bike looks the way I had envisioned it, and am happy with the service provided. Also last but not least, I was so surprised the wonderful lady helping me pronounced my name correctly. This never happens.. ever... anywhere. Thank You to Freewheel and all the associates that work there.

Here's the deal with Freewheel - in a town of great bike shops, Freewheel is worthy to be called a great bike shop. It positions itself as an all market all riders all smiles super approachable, knowledgeable and fast store with a huge selection of bikes and some of the best wrenches in town. I have been visiting this freewheel since the early 90s when you could bring your bike in and use their tools and pay like 2 bucks and they'd spend the whole evening explaining how to fix your problem. That coop culture remains which is great. I love Freewheel.

From the very moment I decided to start looking for a new road bike to when I walked out of the store with it was a great experience. This wasn’t just a one day deal. In fact, it was about a year long process. There were multiple emails sent back and forth between Chad and myself. He answered all of my questions promptly and in great detail. There were a few in store meeting as well with both Chad and Marcy. Both were very helpful and professional when explaining products, suggestions and fitting. I would definitely recommend your store to people looking for a basic bike and products to high end bikes and products. I am very pleased with the service and most of all my bike, Now, I just need the snow to melt so I can ride it.

Staff have always been helpful and knowledgeable. Mechanics have dropped everything they were doing to help me on two occasions when I needed an emergency repair done (once chain broke - once tire broke). Store has better inventory than competition. Located on the West Bank of Minneapolis is a big advantage for me since it is halfway between my work and my home. Bought my first bike here circa 1999 and continue to go back whenever I need parts or service for my bike! :)

The staff there were very kind and understanding, and Chris even showed me how to set up my new bike lock in addition to giving me advice (in an uncondescending manner) as for where to mount it on my frame while I ride. I really appreciate how I was greeted as soon as I walked in to grab the bike I put a deposit on. I was quoted a week for a build, but the team got it together in less than 24 hours (amazing)! I purchased a cage and upgraded pedals and they were installed promptly - also amazing. It’s a 30 minute drive to this location from the burbs, and I would prefer to come here going forward to service all of my Trek bikes. I was able to bring a project bike into the shop and discuss my goals with a mechanic. After some back and forth, we found a list of repairs and upgrades that fit my budget and intentions. Despite a long wait for one of the parts, all the other tasks were done in a timely manner; and some of those were somewhat complicated. I was able to communicate directly with the mechanic over email and got responses back right away. Overall, I got exactly the repairs I needed along with good personal service.

We were helped by both a newer staff member and a very experienced staff member. They both went to great lengths to help us decide on a long-term bicycle for our teenager. We wanted something that will get her through early adulthood. They helped us decide on what was appropriate for the types of terrain she encounters, and took the time to educate us on newer technologies that we weren't familiar with. We did not feel hurried or pressured, and feel very happy with our purchase. We were able to purchase new accessories, as well as take some accessories off of her old bike. They even gave us recommendations on where we could donate her old bike.

We've got a lot of great bike shops in Minneapolis, but freewheel is one of the best. Their staff is super knowledgeable but not pushy. They're happy to just chat with you. In the past year Ive brought in one bike for a complete overhaul and have also purchased shoes and other accessories. A few years back I bought a full bike from them. I've always had a positive experience here and would highly recommend them.

Went in today hoping to find a hybrid Trek around $1K. I haven't bought a bike in 17 years, so I had a list of things that I wanted but didn't know if I would find what I was looking for. When I walked into Freewheel Bike, I was immediately greeted by Marcy and she was SO HELPFUL! They had so many Trek bikes in stock, in my size. I test rode a few and liked a few aspects of each of the ones that I rode, but didn't find "the one". Marcy was able to add a handlebar extension to the bike with the front suspension that I loved and I was able to walk away with my dream bike. AND it was under budget, in my favorite color scheme (black). One of the most positive purchasing experiences I've ever had, thank you Marcy!!

Service was over the top. I went to one location to try a bike I saw online but it was out of stock there so they sent me to the West Bank location. When I arrived the bike I was interested in was already pulled up front, pedals and day lights attached, and helmet ready for my test ride. This is an awesome bike shop. I go here for all my bike needs. They do an amazing job, and they are very knowledgeable. They are happy to answer any questions I have including repairing things on my own. There was one time that I only had $20 dollars on me and the cashier changed the price on some tubes so that I could still afford a deal they were having on buy 3 get one free. I have also brought my bike in to have a wheel trued, and they didn't even charge me for it. That wasn't the first time they have done that for me either. I just had a freehub rebuilt, and they quoted me two days, but it was done in a few hours. The prices are a little higher than what you will find online, but stores have overhead, and the knowledge and service I have received from this shop makes that little extra well worth it. What they don't have in-shop they can order from their catalog. I have ordered many parts from them and have always done an excellent job in getting the right parts in a reasonable time frame. Try them out, I doubt you will be disappointed.

Excellent experience. Went in with a tearing tire, left with a brand new tire, and the knowledge to replace another. The specific staff member I worked with was fantastic because she was very knowledgeable, patient and helpful. She even taught me how to install a new tire, check for leaks in the tube, and avoid pinching. The Orig Freewheel location (Cedar Ave & 6th in MNPLS) - "knowledge center" for bikes that are more than "commuter grade". Took my MTB bike in for a thorough clean, replace warn parts and adjust. Hubs, crank, shifters, wheels, etc. Explained everything before hand so that I understood what I would be paying for (and choose what work would be done). Everything completed as estimated, & when expected. Great job !

Wow! What a fantastic experience we had with Freewheel Bike West Bank. My daughter and I arrived donning our covid masks, and we were greeted immediately at the door by a very warm and welcoming sales associate, Marcy Levine. We explained that my 6 year old daughter was ready for a new bike and Marcy brought us straight over to the kids section. Marcy was so sweet toward my daughter and even shared a story about how she first learned how to ride a bike. I needed to find an unusual size tube in an emergency for my wheelchair. I called around, and checked online - the soonest I could find was over a week. Freewheel had a stack, with options, for the lowest of the prices I saw, plus buy 3, get the 4th free. They were friendly, and had the products waiting when I arrived. While I was at the store, my car and phone battery died. I asked to use their phone to call for a jump, which they facilitated, along with charging my phone, then they jumped my car. Freewheel is an inclusive and friendly environment, and many of my favorite staff have been there for years. It's also my favorite shop because there's absolutely no pretension from the staff. I can walk into the shop in heels and a dress, and I don't get any attitude because I'm not in full biking gear, or shopping for a $5,000 bike. I can buy parts for my brick-on-wheels of a '64 Schwinn Collegiate, and they're in stock and comparatively priced. The shop floor is roomy, they have a free parking lot, and the automatic sliding door is really handy when you're bringing in your bike for repairs. Once one of the employees even helped me special order the last of a specific helmet from the supplier when they were out. So much West Bank Bike Love. Thanks, Freewheel!

Good sales department, with good selection of equipment and cycling related apparel. However, I've had multiple problems with the repair department. I had an alignment problem that multiple technicians were incapable of diagnosing. Additionally, a technician installed a rear cassette and chain incorrectly. In the latter case, the error caused further damage to the drivetrain. I have now taken my bike to another shop to fix mistakes made by the Freewheel service department twice, and will not be returning to their store.
