Reviews of Express Bike Shop
This is an excellent full service bike shop. As you can see they are part of a not for profit that serves the local community entrance people in the bicycle business.
Shue is an excellent mechanic. He has done a lot of work for me on a bike and is quite thorough, and cost-conscious. They have a wide variety of used but a high quality parts that will save some money. Cannot recommend this place enough!
Express Bike Shop has a team of amazing, kind and extremely knowledgeable and generous people. We needed to tune up a bike for our child who is leaving for college. Express Bike was able to prepare the bike and helped me install last minute items like a bell and lights.
Express Bike is wonderful and I am grateful that they are in our community. Thank you!
Good people, good prices on bike repairs, can't say I know enough to say if the bike prices are good or not but the stuff I bought seems to hold up fairly well.
So it's about 3 months later now and I just got some work done on the bike that I bought and the actual price of the repair was even lower than the quoted price. This place is the bee's knees for bicyclists.
Nice staff and okay pricing, however I've gone here twice now for simple tune ups and each time it's taken over 3 weeks to do a very simple fix. Despite the name, the service is the longest I've experienced. I want to support the local bike shop and their staff, but the lead times on any repair is just too long.
Great place to support! A small, local business that works with a non profit to give teens job experience. I bought my son a great used bike here.
Friendly knowledgeable staff, super reasonable prices, and they do it all for a good cause. They set my tall 6'4" self with a bike big enough for me and a trailer for my kid.
Needed a city commuter bike and found a great deal here! Theo was great at answering questions and made thoughtful recommendations, while Sam was helpful and informative.
Very friendly and helpful with a large assortment of used bikes to fit our budget!
The service here is impeccable and the staff are courteous and knowledgeable. Their prices for services are a little stiff but worth it considering their expertise. Their bike selection is good and I would highly recommend the establishment.
Highly recommend this business. While I was in St Paul riding my front wheel bent and was barely drivable. I called multiple shops and all said they couldn’t help same day. I called this business and they told me to bring the bike in, so I did. The bike mechanic was very helpful and fixed it promptly. Overall very good experience and I’m glad I found them.
Great place to purchase a used bike in great working condition. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Purchased 2 bikes this summer. They were really accommodating to help you get the bike that fits you well and is what you are looking for. On one bike they let us switch to a softer seat. Another bike I upgraded the pedals. Both bikes we had water bottle holders attached. Each bike was around the $300 range.
An overall excellent experience buying a used bike. Better than I've had at new bike retailers. They really care about you, and the bikes, and it shows. There was no pitchiness or up selling, just listening, giving advice, and making sure you're getting what's right for you.
So I found a great bike here. However after only a month of having it, I was on a trail with my 3 year old. We stopped for a break and he accidentally knocked the bike over. It fell over on a dirt trail and the frame bent. I don’t know all about bike repair but when I took it in, the guy said it was toast. I did an ugly cry and I had to buy another frame for another $80. I’m torn. I like the shop and what it stands for but I felt like I got a lemon. A bike shouldn’t get ruined after falling over on a dirt trail but maybe I don’t know anything about bikes.
Express is my favorite service shop, they may not have fancy new bikes for sale but they do have incredible service for a very fair price. Everyone that works here is a mechanic so you know that when you talk to someone they truly know bikes. I have come in a bunch and they always treat me with respect and never talk down to me. Good used part selection as well! Also this nonprofit shop is doing great things in the community.
My bike stem was low, causing me to strain my back on longer rides. I went to express, and they helped talked me through some alternatives. I ended up going with different handlebars, but soon realized these weren't quite right for me. I went back, and they let me trade them in for a longer stem. I put that on and problem solved! A huge thanks to the express bike shop workers for being friendly, helpful, and considerate. And also for keeping bike repair very affordable (they charged me about $10 in total). A really terrific place.
We have been trying to buy a couple of used bikes for awhile and everyone has been completely sold out. We made an appointment at Express Bike Shop and they had a couple options to test ride for both of us! My fiancé needed an xl bike and I needed a smaller one, but John was all over it. He was super patient, kind, and knowledgeable. It was so fun to have options and access to all the accessories we wanted, they even installed them for free! We are so happy with our new-to-us bikes and we are so grateful for John's help! We will definitely be back!
New favorite bike shop! We wanted something cheap and used, but Express was better than expected. Their bikes are in great condition for being used. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and everything was clean and safe (pandemic times).
Great service. Friendly and helpful. I got a sweet vintage mountain bike at a reasonable price. I was really surprised at how nice it rode. They really had it dialed in. Would recommend!
My regular bike shop! Have always treated me right & taken good care of my bike. Give good advice, are honest, explain things and will even help you find the right parts/services if they don’t have them. They even have internships to help young people gain job skills.
I had to go to Now Bikes and Fitness (on Snelling) because Express was closed most of the day for their remodel. I had the worst customer service experience of my life- the part they “fixed” literally fell apart the second I got on. It really made me appreciate how great Express is <3 <3 <3
Thanks guys!
Had a great experience with John at Express Bike Shop! Couldn't be happier with the bike he helped me pick out. Would definitely recommend to anyone who is looking for a used bike.
Express is by far the best place in the cities to buy a used bike! They always have a great selection and really fair pricing.
We bought a used bike earlier this month and recently got a flat tire. We brought it back in and since the tube malfunctioned they repaired it for free, no questions asked.
Outstanding, took as much time as needed, they only deal in used gear, they go over every bike they sell to assure smooth operation, good selection, i was surprised and pleased, my son is right when he recommended them
Excellent service. I have an old retro Schwinn bike. The brakes had gotten very squeaky. Took it in, was helped right away. Was in and out in no time flat. Definitely the place to get your bike fixed. Thank you so much Expreelss Bike Shop. I will be back.
I took in an older model Schwinn bike to have it repaired and tuned. It was missing brake cables, chain was shot, etc. Old bike in storage forever. John fixed it up super nice and took the time to put an LED light into the old style headlamp light that came with the bike. A total custom job that I'm sure took him hours and hours. I got charged for the light and a bit of labor...I'm sure not coming close to the time he spent. It's obvious these guys love their bikes and love pleasing their customers! Thanks much. Mike.
Very patient, helpful, and knowledgeable staff! And wildly affordable pricing. Supporting their youth employment program makes it even more appealing to patronize this shop.
This place has always been good to me, I stop by 3-5 times a year. It's not a super high end bike shop, it's more focused on getting people onto bikes that are good for them. Great place for parts or cheap repairs!
So helpful and friendly. Great place to find used parts for your bike!
I love these guys! I live 2 minutes from an Eriks Bike Shop, but I will drive 25 minutes to bring my bike to these guys. With 4 kids and not enough time to keep their bikes up and running, they always get me in and out quickly, most of the time fixing the bike on the spot, and the pricing is very fair for parts and repairs.
I've been coming here for minor/routine maintenance and repairs - stuff I can't do myself - for 8-9 years now. The customer service varies - some of them are really good, a few of them are brusque and arrogant. Kind of like any hipster boutique business; think of them as barristas. It helps to know exactly what you want done, and present yourself accordingly.
I've never had any complaints about the quality of work; the one job any of them flubbed (seven years ago), they made right quickly.
I'm docking them a star because of the hipster vibe the place gives off - but I have no serious complaints.
Very nice staff who do a great job. I had a tire that kept going flat with no explanation and they fixed it three times for me within a few hours. Super great customer service.
Fantastic place, positive people, great customer service. They quoted a repair accurately up front, no attempt to upsell, and I was out within an hour. And the price was really reasonable. Not sure why anyone would go anywhere else.
mostly good experiences... we've bought 3 bikes from them. the flywheel fell off on one of them, they were happy to fix it, but then it got stolen and they didn't have the serial for it in their records.
This is my favorite bike shop. Nice people, good prices, and not corporate. Everything a bike shop shoukd be.
It is a mixed bag of nutts. On one hand there are professional mechanics on another there are those that know very little and can damage your bike. Costumer service is pretty poor, since their business model is not based on that. What this comes to is high chance of poor experience when using their services. What makes this bike shop worth it, is that they have some of the best used parts bins in TC.
Great People I needed a tube for my bike cart and they had it, sold it to me and even let me use their bike pump to fix it!
I had a weird bike problem – an adult tricycle that needed winter tires, three of them. The staff were unfazed, found tires for me online, and figured out what was wrong with my brakes. Great!
Great selection of used bikes at even better prices. Helpful staff and mechanic shop.
Well that could not have gone any better. I brought my bike in because of an issue with the gear wire. He fixed it in less than 5 minutes for less than 5 bucks. I am very happy and will look forward to going back there.
Knowledgeable staff and technicians. I have had our bikes repaired here, donated bikes, and purchased refurbished bikes. Great community resource.
Friendly staff. They work with the youth to help them learn a skill of fixing bikes and selling bikes. Best place to donate bikes that you no longer need.
Quality refurbished bikes. We get all our bikes here. Bike sale in Late May (I think) is best time for even better deals.
Express is a wonderful local non-profit bike shop with friendly, helpful staff, a significant inventory of new and used products, and service that exceeds expectations every time.
These guy's do awesome work with bikes. They've saved me the trouble sense I have a broken thumb. Now my son can get out of my hair about it.
Express is amazing! They have reliably taken great care of my bike with awesome customer service!
Good service and good prices.
Awesome place to find used bicycle parts and random bits and bolts. Always friendly staff and fairly priced merchandise.
Took my new bike for a tune up...The staff are friendly, and he made the adjustment for practically nothing...Highly recommended bike shop and I will go back
Decent selection nice staff.
Jeff identified a persistent and annoying click on my steed and fixed it lickety split. Great service, fair price.
Had my bike back fast quick and easy check out and friendly service.
Great service and fast service. Wish they had more bikes to choose from
Love this place. Great knowledgeable staff, great cause for the community, if they don't have what you're looking for they'll point you to other shops that can help you.
Incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. My repair was done quickly, correctly, and at a very reasonable price.
this is a wonderful bike shop with reasonable pricing and competent, dedicated staff.
Wonderful place for reasonably-priced bike repair, buying a used bicycle...and it helps out local youth by helping them learn skills! A+
This place is a gold mine for bike parts, great work and excellent advice.
Excellent used selection. Very helpful staff.
Fast, affordable, reliable help when I needed it. And a great place to donate your stash of bike parts, too!
My one and only choice of Twin Cities bike shops, the staff are very helpful and quick.
Good place to go if you want your bike fixed
Awesome bike shop with friendly and helpful bike-ristas. Affordable repairs and a slice of pizza next door!
Awesome people and a great place for used bike parts.
They always do a really great job.

Great pricing. Very helpful, friendly, and knowledgeable staff.
Awesome bike shop with reasonable pricing and friendly employees.
Fast and reasonably priced. I went in for a tire change and was out in 15 mins.
Awesome team of people to work with and very reasonable prices.
This is the place for bike repairs. Shifter cable failure. Had me in and out in 15 minutes.
I love them, highly recommend!
I've had minor service done by them. Done quickly and cheaply.
Very helpful. Lots of good use parts if that's what you need.
Great service. Do yourself a favor and get a tune up!
Great service, excellent communications, honest.
Parts bin paradise and good selection of new stuff too
Great service, friendly, and a youth-focused non-profit.
