Worried that I rode my bike with sluggish wheels and ruined it for the season. Brought it in and Alex helped me see that it was my brake that needed a slight adjustment. He went on to explain that “this happens all the time” and showed me how to remedy it. Took his time. No shaming. Bringing it back for a tune up in a couple of months. Alex was great! Thank you!

Ben's Cycle is absolutely a Milwaukee cycling institution!!! These guys know their stuff! I went to Ben's with a rear rim issue. I had previously gone to both Erik's and Wheel & Sprocket trying to remedy my problem, but no dice. I was even told I would probably have to replace my rim to fix my squeaky spoke/rim issue. I went to Ben's and those guys were so helpful!!! Fixed my issue in less than 15 minutes. When I asked what I owed for the repair they said NOTHING!!! Blew my mind...I will ALWAYS go to Ben's for my bicycle needs!

Bought a lower end fat bike from Ben's Cycle a month ago and wanted to swap the fork out for a rebuilt one I bought on eBay. The install was a bit tricky, but the shop was super chill about me coming in and leveraging their expertise and raiding their parts drawer to make it all work. They could have easily turned me away since I didn't buy the fork from them, but they embraced the challenge and were exceedingly helpful. Strongly recommend this place.

Dude. Ben's kicks so much a$$. I came in after giving up on a rim / tire nightmare that's been killing me for a week. Alex loaded my bike in the stand right away, immediately started running through troubleshooting steps, and got me rolling in basically no time. Need a bike? Ben's. Need parts? Ben's. Need tools? Ben's. Need cool people to help you solve your bike problems? Ben's is just about as good as they come.

Ordered on the phone (with the help of a super friendly staff member) and got the bike shipped to me. All went just dreamily. Bought Friday, shipped Monday, arrived Tuesday. Bike was packed securely and plenty of protection. Parts were greased and the bike built with attention to the details. This store is awesome!! They are probably the only bike shop in town with specialty tools to fix anything bike related!! I brought in a vintage road bike frame that needed the bottom bracket shell to be tapped, re- threaded..I was willing to pay whatever the charge would be because, like I said, no one else in town had a bottom bracket tool to re- tap the threads..and!!! They didn't even charge me..thanks again Bens...I fix almost anything on my bikes myself, however some things are best left to the pros.. double thanks

The staff here is great or at least the one my friends and I spoke to. He knew right away we were out of our price range with the inventory they had left but he continued to describe any and everything we needed to know about getting into biking. He became very comfortable very quickly with us and decided to take us on a tour of their entire store because... why not. Awesome environment with a wide selection of new bikes from the most basic one speeds to a bike he said claimed victory in one of the worlds more prestigious bike races. Would recommend going here if you are in the area.

I just moved to town and need a go-to bike shop. After looking for a simple fix for my bike (the disk break got warped), and calling around to other bike stores in the area (especially the “big” one that begins with an “e”), they either seemed uninterested or completely annoyed to give advice. Ben’s was super helpful over the phone and seemed like they wanted to help. So I took my bike in later that week and they fixed it in less than 5 minutes at a more than reasonable price, letting me take it for a ride around the block to confirm. Other stores were asking $50-150 just to look at and diagnose it - and telling me they’ll had to replace the parts before ever seeing it. Ben’s is going to be my bike shop going forward.

After being told by various shops around Milwaukee that it would be 4-8 weeks before anyone could service me bike, I came across Ben’s. I called them and explained my problem with my derailleur alignment and asked how many weeks out they were. To my surprise I was told if it’s just adjustment, about two hours and if more is needed about 9 days. Awesome news to hear alone. I threw my Colnago in my car and drove it to there shop less than an hour before closing, expecting to leave it there. I was greeted at the door and explained my issues. A gentlemen took it back to their service area and 5 min later came back and asked I take it around the block. Instantly it rode like new again, and when I asked was there anything else I should schedule service wise, I was told that the bike is in real good shop overall. Just to wipe it down. Honest answer which was much appreciated. I went from waiting a couple months to having my bike fixed in 5 minutes. No charge on this quick adjustment, but I will definitely be coming back for any service or cycle needs!! Thank you!

I bought a Specialized Roubaix Expert from Ben's Cycle about a month ago. First of all, the bike is amazing. More important, the customer service I have received has been incredible. I've had my other bikes serviced there and bought new shoes there in the past as well. Each in-store experience has been great. Exceptional bike shop! I'm doing a tear down and rebuild for my first time as a quarantine project, and they have been friendly, informative, and have everything I need. I originally came in here to get a little bit of work done on a bike after having a bad experience with Wheel & Sprocket. They're half the price with twice the customer service. I just moved to MKE last year-it's a nice weight off my shoulders to know I don't have to look any further for any of my cycling needs.

Always great service at Ben’s! Nothing I can throw at them that they haven’t seen, and while I’m not suuuper bike savvy, the team always can quickly diagnose what needs to be done, and how to approach it. This last visit I knew was going to be a doozy: Went tail-over-handlebar recently. Brought it in (already knowing the front end was in bad shape). A trueing would technically have fixed it, but the team let me know other options that would help the longevity for it. Hard to not pick the higher service option when you know the quality work behind it is going to be worth every penny, and the fact that they’re very laid back and not pushing options unnecessarily is great.

What a great place, it is bit of a drive (40 minutes) from me but I will be using them as my regular bike shop. My wife was looking for a new bike and with the stock they carry they were able to get her set up right away. Test rides are awesome with the park right there. And they knocked it out of the park with the pricing and setting up the bike proper. Made me miss living in Milwaukee.

I browsed around to several shops looking to get into biking and most other shops are out of stock, and the staff were more salesman then bike enthusiasts. Online Purchase - I found one of the best prices on the product I was looking for at their online shop. After contacting the shop with a quick question I asked if they could throw in a longer bolt to accommodate a special mounting need. The parts showed up with the spare bolt included. No Charge. It felt like the service level of a local bike shop with the convenience of an online sale. The parts showed up ahead of schedule. I would buy here again.

I purchased a 26” mountain bike on Amazon for my son. Had to assemble it myself and ended up not happy at all with how the brakes were NOT working properly. After an on line search for bike shops I chose Ben’s Cycle. Most shops I talked to were charging $65-$85 for a “ Tune up” Bens offers Ala Carte pricing on just about everything they service. Walked the bike in, was greeted and helped almost immediately. Alex was the gentleman who helped me. I explained what the issue was and he said “ give me a few minutes “ and rolled the bike to the service area in back. My son and I browsed the shop and saw some the coolest bikes we’ve ever seen. About ten minutes later, Alex wheels the bike out and explained what he fixed. Brakes worked perfectly. He also adjusted the gears . He then thanked us for coming in and told us “no charge”. It caught me off guard. Thanks so much for the kind Gesture, and even more for the EXCELLENT Customer Service!!! I was able to show my teenage son how amazing people can be to one another. Great Job Alex!!!!

The gentleman came outside to help me bc I came to the shop on my bike with my 2 little children in the back buggy of the bike also my oldest with his bike that needed the service. Usually when I go they say ok great we'll call u within the hour. This time the man came out since I called and explained I couldn't go in bc I have the little ones . He came out attended my oldest which is 11 . Took the bike in and said to him hold tight . I waited outaide with my 2 little ones and my oldest sat inside where I could see him and the bike was fixed in less than 15 mins it went really well with the plans we had for today's family bike ride .

Outstanding! The bike is everything i asked for and the customer service was amazing. I ordered my new Salsa online but called and talked to the service dept in person to make sure that it wouldn't be put on back order. The person I talked to, Dave I think, who went and pulled the bike right then. It was shipped the next day. 3 days later it arrived. When I put the bike together it was missing a nut for the seat post. They apologized and overnighted the part to me. #greatjob

THEY MADE IT RIGHT! Son wanted to use it, so he took my classic 1976 Gitane tourbike in for a $65 safety check - I felt there was nothing essential wrong with it, had been loving it for years but he wanted to know if it was safe to ride long distances. Unfortunately, without calling first, the bike mechanic felt it needed a new chain because according to him it was not easily shifting into the largest rear sprocket. I never noticed such a problem. My son picks up the bike and when he tries to ride it, the front tire is flat and the rear derailleur is making all kinds or marble-grinding noise in all gears. I got ticked off, we did not ask for a new chain and the bike was working well when we brought it in. Obviously the new chain and the rear derailleur were not getting along or compatible, and the mechanic never tested it sufficiently to note the problem or the flat tire. Long story short, the owner Vince had the problem fixed for us at no charge by putting on new derailleur pulley wheels compatible with the new chain we never asked for. We replaced the tire inner tube ourselves. I don't blame them for the flat, just the fact that they did not notice the flat and claiming it was ready to go and safe to ride. Lessons learned: authorize replacement parts with your customers before proceeding with repairs, carefully test and inspect your repair job before telling the customer its safe and good to go. I am very pleased they did the right thing for us and even gave me the old parts back that I requested. Staff is very friendly and I would have given a 5 if it weren't for all the mistakes and attitude that customers don't know squat about bike mechanics.

I have taken a class at Ben's and purchased a bike from them. Everyone I've met and dealt with there has been friendly and professional. Vince even tried to talk me into a cheaper bike than the one I eventually purchased. And Brett was fantastic after the sale. Not only did he take a lot of time to fit me to my new hybrid bike, but I came back with my road bike and he adjusted that one so I'd have more riding comfort. He also game me accurate advice on different pedals. I could go other places, but I drive in from Waukesha because of the expertise and courtesy this place always gives me. I have so far made two purchases from Ben's Cycle online. Both times my orders arrived very quickly and I was satisfied with both the items and the service. This is also a very honest store, I had not noticed but my most recent purchase got double billed! (Likely a problem with Edge and their website) Over a month later, their accountant noticed and I received a refund for the second charge even though I had not asked or even noticed it myself. If you need bike parts or bike service I have no reservation recommending this store as their customer service is superb, fixing issues that customers didn't even notice.

This place is AMAZING! I've been there twice recently. The first gentlemam with the red hair (his girlfriends a nurse, so she's cool too) was so nice and fixed my flat tire so I was able to get back on the road the same day. The second time, I came in cause my gears were grinding (maybe cause I was messing with things I shouldn't have). The dude with the beard didn't judge me for this and went above the line of duty and walked me through what to do and not do at home. This was super nice as I just started cycling and know nothing about this stuff. You both ROCK!

First time coming here and I was extremely pleased with the service I received from Alex! I came in to get a flat fixed on my 6 year olds bike. I also have a 7 year old and they were so curious asking thousands of questions. Not once did Alex seem bothered or annoyed. I had to ship a bike in a limited amount of time since it was a birthday present. I tried quite a few places where I live on the east Side and even though I explained my dilemma everybody mentioned they had at least a four day turnaround time. Some people were even rude about it. Everybody at Ben's was incredibly helpful and they took care of me quickly and made sure that they not only box Bicycle up in time but they even went out of their way to get it shipped. Being in the customer service industry for many years I appreciate when somebody goes out of their way to take care of me and for that reason alone we will be sure to do our business at ben's.

He still enjoys patronizing not only for the nostalgia but the service, and quality of the equipment and of the gear. They are embedded in the neighborhood and feel old school in their approach with clientele, and their knowledge of the modern day cycle industry is what makes this small to medium size business one that Milwaukee will appreciate . They give the same attention to your daily beater bike as they do to their high end kit. A big or small problem, old bike or new machine, they'll take care of it for you in a reasonable and timely manner. Spend some time in the shop and take in all you can because its what we all used to remember about what made a good, local shop.

I just had two twenty year old Waterford bicycles repainted and refurbished by Ben's Cycle. I couldn't be happier with how they turned out. Vince, the owner was extremely accommodating and suffice to say, an expert. No second guessing with part selection. Everything that was needed to refurbish the bikes are authentic and match perfectly. Vince even picked the bikes up at my condo and dropped them off, twice! My free unsolicited advice is if you are in the market for a new or used bike or need a repair, forget the chain shops and ride on over to Ben's. Hey, they've been around for like a hundred years they must be doing something right. I can tell you first hand that they are great!

Wow. I had a super complicated bike project and I planned on sourcing parts all over the internet. I was going to get handlebars and a couple other things from Ben's Cycles, but ended up ordering an entire bike's worth because they were so friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I got above and beyond customer service. Thank you Ben's Cycles!

Drew went out of his way to help me through several larger orders of parts for a couple builds I was doing. Ben's/Drew were phenomenal handling two separate issues that arose, even though one was strictly UPS's problem. On my first order, UPS temporarily lost the order. Before UPS had even confirmed if it was lost or just delayed, Ben's expedited a replacement and took care of the other issue 100% on their end. On a subsequent custom order, we had a long email thread choosing options, and in the end there was a small ordering mistake made. Ben's expedited the correct parts right away, without me having to push at all. What a change from some competitors to be treated as you'd want, on the first try, without having to beg.

I had an issue with a wheel set that was not a huge deal but they were very forward with finding a solution and helped resolve it to my satisfaction. Matt Hewitt is their internet sales guy and was great to work with. I will definitely do business with Ben's Cycles in the future. Their wheel building feature is really great. I think its one of the cheapest online and the quality is totally adequate if you can accept machine built wheels. The website is still a little clunky but it has all the right features.

Bought my Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Elite at this store (Vince is the man). Love the bike. This is my go-to bike shop. Came back to order a Stan's wheel set with Swiss DT-350 hubs. Love it. Wore out my rear shock and called Vince to figure out what to do. He made one call and discovered mine was still serviced by Specialized. So I was just there today to drop it off and then had some good Mexican food right down the block. This is a fun bike shop to visit. Bike rack dropped my buddies bike as we set off for a 4 day self contained ride across Wisconsin, they did everything they could to set him up with a new bike ready for bags and everything else needed in a matter of hours. On day 4 the bike picked up a twig and ripped off the back derailer which led to a bent cassette and sprocket along with a wobbly wheel and an unreadable bike. They got us in right away in the morning so we could head back home and only charged labor even though numerous parts needed replaced. Alex is the man!

Many people only think that Ben's only does bikes. But Ben's employee, Brett Meinke, is a trained human movement specialist (kinesiologist) with a degree in it and Brett fits orthotics for bike shoes and running shoes. I picked up my running orthotics yesterday and unlike previous orthotics which were uncomfortable, the ones that Brett fit me to were comfortable and I actually wore them most of the day. My next 5k is the Run in the New Year 12/31/15 and I'm sure that these orthodics will help. I'm getting my custom bike orthotics and bike shoes from him soon as well.
