Santa’s Helpers, as Earl’s is known for being an excellent area business they also work closely with Santa Clause. I ordered a Trek Townie bike for my wife directly from Trek shipped to Earl’s where they assembled and delivered the bike just in time for Christmas. There were some challenging logistics but Joe the owner and Nate were able to overcome these challenges and give me the peace of mind that everything would fall into place. I just wanted to say thank you and highly recommend Earl’s for any bike or fitness equipment purchases and or service. Absolutely the best and on Christmas morning my wife experienced the magic of Christmas!

Earl's has by far been the best experience I've had with any cyclery outfit in Metro Burlington. I use my bike for daily commuting, but I'm still learning how to service it myself, so I naturally need a lot of assistance.
I was going to one of the downtown shops and the difference in service is significant. I brought my bike in for gear adjustments and a flat tire, which took 5+ days at said spot.
I went to Earl's to see what else was available. They replaced my tube, adjusted my gears/shifters and basically did everything this other shop did in 5 days in about 20 minutes and only charged me for the tube. This tune-up from the downtown location ended up being ~120$, although it's probably not fair to draw an exact comparison. However you look at it, the savings between the two is enormous.
They also explain how and why different things happen on the bike when they make these changes, which has been super enlightening. Lolly is really thorough and has gone out of her way to make sure I'm running optimally. She located what I needed for winter change-over, ordered it and made me feel that she genuinely cared, which was refreshing.
In the end, my opinion is that Earl's is the best place to bring your bike. If I had known this kind of service was available, I could have saved a lot of time and money.

Earl’s had exactly what my boyfriend and I were looking for in a bike! Rick was extremely helpful, as we were both a bit clueless in what to look for. He sized us really well— we were shocked at the difference a properly sized bike can make! He made sure to put us on similar bike styles, as we discussed that we want to bike together. The service department did a great job with a complete service on my mountain bike this spring. When I had a problem with my bike later in the season they work hard and fast to the bike fixed. They explained what had happened and how they fixed it and got me back out on the trails on less than 24 hours.

So here's what happened. I was in a pinch. My valve stem broke on my mtn bike, but didn't have the tools or much knowledge. Zach literally takes the time to help me and talk me through it! What could of taken another day, he had me out in 30 mins tops, that includes just having a Convo with him! I wish I could repay the favor but he just said go have fun. Huge thanks to Zach!

I visited Earl's looking for a new mountain bike for trail riding. I had a great experience shopping for my new bike! My old DiamondBack is 30 years old, so I needed help with the upgraded bikes! I worked with Shannon and another helpful young man (I'm sorry the name escapes me), and they were very patient and thorough with educating me on the different level of bikes, suspension and assesories. I was fitted to different bikes and able to test ride them. I was happy to spend a little more for full suspension and love it! Earl's is less expensive than their competitors for the same bike, and had more selections in stock! And on top of that, July is having a sale, so I saved even more! I've taken it on several rides since and it's so much more giving and comfortable. I can climb large hills without getting out of my seat, and go over roots and rocks without killing my back and bum! Recently had an excellent experience! Went in with my wife who will be the primary rider and was the primary customer. We worked with Joe and he really listened to what my wife was looking for. She gave him a run down of what her intended use was, what features were important, and what our budget was. He helped find just the right bike. Didn't try to sell us on things that weren't in the plan and didn't shoot for the upper limit of our budget with phrases like "With just a little more, you could have..." He also directed his answers to the person asking them. This is something I watch for since too many times male sales clerks at other businesses will direct their responses to me when I wasn't the person asking the question.

Stopped in yesterday for a flat (second time in a year, suspected it wasn't just bad luck), and had an absolutely spot-on experience. My technician (didn't catch his name) was extremely knowledgeable, listened to the info I had to share, didn't over-sell me, and fixed everything up beyond my expectations. He ended up replacing the tape around my rim (it was cracked, likely the cause of the tube puncture), gave me two solid options on a replacement tire, did minor tuning of my brakes, shifting, etc, and installed a bottle holder I purchased there for $10. Bike runs better than before the flat, with smoother shifting, and my brakes are making better contact.
I'm a huge fan of Amazon, online shopping, lower costs, etc, but this is exactly why services absolutely rule as a small business - no giant company would stand a chance matching the experience I had, and I'll definitely be returning to Earl's for my future bike needs.

I'm a 50-year Vermonter, and I can attest that Earl's is rightly crowned as >the< sales and service center for cycling in Vermont. Staff are very knowledgeable, honest and experienced. Sales prices and service rates are very fair. Any issues with their products or work are quickly rectified. The annual Bike Swap is a regional legend for new and experienced cyclists to trade and mingle. As community-centric a business, and vital, as you could ever find.

If you are looking for a bike, this is the place to go! I was greeted promptly as I walked through the door by a gentlemen who did not try to up-sell me and showed a serious passion for what he does. He made my son and I feel very welcomed and appreciated. They even had exactly what I wanted in stock. The whole transaction was very pleasant and very quick. My son popped his tires (yes both tires 🙄) on a near by bike path about 90 minutes after we purchased it, they took excellent care of us and replaced them on the spot at 4:40 on a Friday. Definitely happy with the help I received as I am new to adult biking ;) I inherited a Trek 3900 and, after it sitting in my carport storage for 6+ years, I brought it in to have it tuned up. I can tell the chains were very well cleaned up! Definitely worth $75 knowing my bike is safe to ride! When I went to pick out accessories, I was helped with advice on gears (my last bike was a hot pink 10 speed ;) ), tires blown up more and advice given on what PSI to set them to based on my terrain and when to check air, and the seat was adjusted to be more comfortable and advice given on any further adjustments. Even though he (I REALLY wish I remembered his name!! Young guy, shaved dark hair, blue eyes) was called to help someone else, he didn’t make me feel like he was rushing at all! He even used my name (I know, but it’s so rare haha) and remembered it the next day when I went in to grab a few more things! I’ll definitely be back for all my biking needs!

Joe, one of the owners, asked me to describe the problem, put me on a trainer to observe the problem and worked with me until the issue I was having unclipping from the pedal was resolved. Thank You so much . Your Sales people were great - they were very knowledgeable and helpful. My wife and I haven't been on bicycles in over 15 years. Clayton was so patient with us, guiding us through the whole process and easing our doubts and stress. In the end we were all set with 2 bikes that were extremely comfortable and met our needs, helmets and a bike rack. They installed the rack on the back of the truck and took the time to show us how it all worked. The whole experience was very enjoyable and satisfying.

Disappointed with Earls. I bought an expensive bike at the end of last bike season at Earls (the 3rd bike I bought there in the last 4 years) and after using it for about 2 months last year and a couple of weeks this year out of nothing a spoke broke. This is very unusual so I took it to Earls and they quoted me $40 to fix it….. I was very surprised with a relatively new bike that this happened. I take very good care of my bikes so I criticized this and the repair was offered for free which I strongly believe should have been offered the first time. Of course, I appreciated this but now the technician got kind of passive aggressive with me and my bike al of the sudden was not going to be ready Monday what was estimated at drop of but later in the week…. Is this retribution because I disagreed their original charge? Recently I even been in contact with sales since I’m in the market for a new bike and I have been loyal customer maybe you should check your customers history before you make in my opinion unwarranted charges for a repair. I’m definitely reconsidering my new purchase.
After writing this I remembered right after purchasing the bike Earls tweaked the derailleur a couple of times and also tightened spokes in the rear wheel, maybe this is what caused a spoke to break?
Update: bike was done already today and as indicated by the receiving technician so I adjusted the rating.

I could easily go to any one of the many other bike shops around the Burlington area, but always end back at Earls. The reason is simple. They're simply the best bike shop.
Andrew and Joe run a fantastic shop. The service guys are fast and friendly, and the sales staff are knowledgeable and are dedicated to putting folks on the right bikes. Not just the ones they want to sell or the one the customer might "think" they're looking for...but instead the bike that's going to fit the customer and their needs. The one they're really going to enjoy riding.
I guess that's one of the great things about Earls. The focus is on ensuring people have a great experience.

Amazing quality. Everything Thule makes is optimum quality and bullet-proof. I read of horror stories from online reviews which I now know were a result of them (1) not following instructions from Thule instructions; and (2) not asking the Thule dealer to “demo” correct way to install the e-bike rack on vehicle and bike onto the rack. Just any ole way won’t do. The XLT rack is awesome. The lock-up and keyed knobs are great! Earl’s had the rack I needed, the XLT, foe 2 e-bikes with fenders. Most racks won’t accommodate e-bikes with fenders—though the Thule XLT does!!! A Thule customer for life!

Great bike store for service and sales. They have a bike swap every spring that has a huge selection of pre-loved bikes. Every time I've brought my bike in service I've been happy. Last week I brought my TREK in with a flat. When I picked it up my handlebar mirror had been reinstalled correctly, since I had done a poor job. Would never go anywhere else!

These folks are awesome. They setup several different bikes for me, and I got to take them out on their little pumper track in the back, which is a lot of fun. Also, everyone was super knowledgable, and I didn't feel like anyone was trying to influence my decision. This was my first experience working with and in all reality stepping foot inside Earl’s. I was greeted in a friendly manner by Colton who was enthusiastic, knowledgeable and genuinely interested in helping me. Although there is a nationwide bike shortage and relatively low stock in the store, Colton reviewed my needs (a bike for my daughter’s bday) and walked me through thoughtful recommendations that were realistic to my budget without me every feeling like I was being oversold. They were amazing!!! Earl's contacted the manufacturer, had part's sent and repaired my trike...
Still under warranty they took care of that also.
The next day I went for a short ride and noticed that the repaired wheel had a wobble to it... I called Earl's reported the problem.

I showed up at Earl's today to ask about replacing my bottom bracket on my 3 year old gravel bike. I spoke with Lindsey -- even though she was in the middle of a repair, she took a moment to help me out. She asked me a few questions about what was going on, leading her to ask if she could see the bike. I brought the bike in from the car and she threw it in the repair stand. Within 5 minutes she isolated a loose crank arm, a faceplate that wasn't tight enough and a back skewer that also needed tightening. She quickly tightened things up and I test rode it in the parking lot. She nailed it. I paid a nominal amount for the time. This was fantastic customer service, saving me over $100 replacing the bottom bracket. Thank you Lindsey and thank you, Earl's. I will be back again sooner than later.

I wanted to share an experience that I had with Earl’s bike shop as I want everyone that is deciding to get a bike come here even if you don’t live in the area; They will do what they can to accommodate your needs. I reside in Long Island, Ny and given the current health situation with Covid there is limited inventory in all of Ny and only very expensive inventory remaining (750-1k per bike) as everyone needs a new pass time. I called numerous bike shops locally and outside of Ny to try to get a bike for my husband (reasonably priced) who was the last one in the family that needed one but to no avail. Customer service was lacking when I called outside of Ny as I either didn’t get a return call or no one was willing to ship the bike. I had one company that said they would ship it when they had a chance to but explained they had numerous other orders and shipping the bike to me would not only take time but wouldn’t be worth it to them because they wouldn’t make money on it or it was too time consuming and I never heard back after our initial conversation. After giving up much hope, I came across Earl’s bike shop in VT. I had the pleasure of speaking to Joe there who not only addressed all my concerns but took care of me and went above and beyond. I explained I was in health care in pharmacy and he applauded me for my efforts. I immediately felt like he took the time to get to know my story and helped me with getting my husband an amazing trek mountain bike that fit all my needs! The experience I had here merely on one phone call was the best and the level of customer service here is unparalleled. I am now able to get my family of 4 on a bike ride together and enjoy! I am so grateful for the service and I am reminded with this experience that their are people out there like Joe that genuinely care and will help your goals become a reality. I am 💯 verified a VERY satisfied customer! Thank you Joe and everyone at Earl’s bike shop. Fantastic Chittenden county full service bike shop. The manager, Joe Drennan is especially customer focused and has the whole shop running like clockwork. We recently had two custom order bicycles sized up and built for us, and I can't remember the last time I had dealt with a retailer who was so focused on making sure we got exactly what we wanted, at the quality level we expected. Joe even rejected some of the custom bike work and had it redone for us and dealt with the supplier so we didn't have to get involved. My experience of late is most shops just push the problems to the consumer, but not at Earl's! One of their really experienced staff, Richard Tom, fitted my partner up on his bike, and it's clear he wasn't trying to hurry us out the door..he really seemed to care that the fit is perfect and took his time, examined the biomechanics of his pedaling and made around 20 adjustments including replacing the stem at no charge. Having been riding for 40 years I wasn't going to get the fit service but Richard's meticulousness, knowledge and attention to detail has me scheduling my own custom fitting! While we don't use the service department much and work on our own bikes, I've found them always willing to stop for a minute to answer questions and/or give expert advice. If you like to experience great customer service, stop by Earl's, you'll not be disappointed.

For a new bike would wait for the sales that are aleays popping up, you will get a very good deal on high end bikes. Bike swap in May is very good, specially if you have growing kids and need to change every few years. Expect high end bike that will last many years and good service which all bike need. I had been in Earl's several years ago (maybe 2011) looking at a pair of bibs that I could use while on my mountain bike at the time but have never been in there since. This year I was in the market for two brand new bikes, a road bike and a mountain bike. It seems that every single bike on the face of this planet, road or mountain, is going towards the blah depressing color of black or gray or some variation of the two. I wanted to be totally different and get a brighter color like red, blue or white, which I noticed did limit my options substantially due to almost every bike being black. The only mountain bike in my price range that fit my wants and needs that I had found online was the 2018 BMC Teamelite 3. I was very excited to see that I was able to get it in a satin red with white lettering. So I went to Earl's to see what they could do for me with that bike, there I was helped by Tom Echelberger. Tom was super pleasant to work with, was extremely knowledgeable of the products, had an upbeat attitute, never rushed me into making a decision and listened closely and carefully to my cycling desires and needs. Here I explained to Tom what I was looking for and he had showed me one of their hold over road bikes that was not just in my exact size, but was in the red that I was looking at for the mountain bike. It was a beautiful 2016 BMC Granfondo gf02 in polished red with white lettering. I was super excited! Tom had found me a much better road bike than what I had originally planned on getting and saved me a ton of money in the process. Tom Echelberger is a salesperson that is a last of a breed. 95% of salespeople don't care about customers. They just want the sale for commissions but forget the people skills that are needed to achieve that. Well, I had to wait a while to order the 2018 BMC Teamelite but was able to enjoy the 2016 BMC Granfondo almost right away. Thank you so much Tom and Earl's for a fantastic and memberable experience!

So I roll in the back door with my faithful commuter bike. Brakes squealing enough to wake up the neighbors baby. The wrench, who could be my grandson says "no prob bro, we will work it in this afternoon. " And they were budy, of course.
But then I come back in the front door with some bike shoes with that BOA lace closure. Well I never used them much because the BOA would not stay closed. Who knew that gadget could could be fixed on the spot? Earl's fixed it and quickly too.
Came back later to pick up "Old Faithfull" commuter bike and it was ready.
Oh, btw, I noticed the headset was loose, so I fixed that too.
The competition in Burlington is pretty stiff, but Earl's is still Leading.
