Sadie did my color today! Obsessed with how the color turned out, did a great job of covering the brown/blonde/purple combo I had going on. I have long and easily tangled hair & she took the time to go through it patiently which was really appreciated. And the curls are so cute! She was super fun to talk to too! Blanca did an absolutely AMAZING job on my hair! She was very attentive and since I was going darker, she even made sure not to get any of the hair dye stained on me or my clothes! She did my layers and trimmed my bangs perfectly, exactly how i wanted them, and they’ll grow exactly how i like them too as well. I saw Emberleigh and I am absolutely obsessed with how it turned out. I was looking to brighten my hair but wasn’t sure how bright I wanted it. Emberleigh took it into her own hands and I couldn’t be happier. I got a full head of highlights and a small trim for an extremely reasonable price. She took her time and was very patient and helpful. Marissa (another student who was shadowing) actually stepped in and helped with the highlights as well and did such an amazing job. I’d highly recommend Emberleigh, especially for blondes!!! Thank you Emberleigh!!

I went as a " hair model" last night for a student to practice a balayage. Not going to lie, I'm was extremely nervous at first. However, Aura was AMAZING!!! She was very attentive and did a fantastic job! Fun to talk to! I had boxed dye and so it didn't lift as light as we hoped it would. She toned it and it gave my hair natural highlighted tones! I can't wait until she finishes school so i can be her dedicated client! Thank you Aura!!

Vicky and Nikki did my hair and I absolutely love it! They did an amazing job of lightening it and adding highlights while keeping it looking natural. Both Vicky and Nikki would take the time to explain to me what they were doing and why and made the whole experience so collaborative and easy. I really appreciated them taking the time to explain everything to me and why they were using certain colors, toners, etc. I have long hair and I was so grateful for the patience and time they took to it because it looks amazing! I was referred to my stylist Jessika by a coworker. I only was planning on getting my roots touched up. We began talking about how I’d love to go shorter like her hair but my husband doesn’t like short hair. Btw he was with me to get a trim. I texted him I was going to cut it short, seeing I’m not saying anything about him growing his long. So with the help from Jessika she googled short hair cuts and together we found one I loved! So in short I did it! Not only do I love it, so does my husband! He says I look younger. That’s a plus! I do not take very good selfies and still learning how to style it. His hair looks and feels great..Yulissa was easy going, profesional.and detailed in her work She also did my partial highlights and they look like.a 5 🌟 Salon from an overpriced downtown Scottsdale salon. You truly can't beat the prices and I will be back. My 4 🌟 are because of the amount of time I spend there. It took 5 hours (2appointmenst). and I wished would have anticipate that better. After my coworker with the most beautiful hair said she goes here for her hair cut/color, I decided to give it a try. I'm so incredibly happy that I did. I was seen by Jessica Alvarez and she was phenomenal! She listened to what I washed and delivered so perfectly. Her instructor, Damon, was so helpful as well when Jessica had questions. I left with the exact cut I had in my mind. I wanted very Natura highlights to my one shade brown hair and she succeeded. I'm in love with my hair. I'll never go anywhere else. Plus, you get to see stylists doing all sorts of hair. The salon is so large and it was such a cool vibe. If you're on the fence, just do it. The instructors are always around IF an issues arises. As my first time in Avalon Institute I gotta admit I had a very good experience. I came in couple of days ago, and had a facial done by Nataly and she did amazing!!! When I saw they use Skin Script products I felt even more comfortable, since I had used skin script not too long ago. She gathered all the information she needed and asked a few questions about my skin. She also mentioned what products (cleanser, exfoliator, mask, toner, moisturizer etc...) she was going to be putting on my face even before she applied them. I was a model for Jocelyn and she put highlights in my hair. The overall experience at Avalon was better than being at a professional salon! Jocelyn listened very carefully, asked questions about my hair, then she relayed information to the instructor for the process and procedure to use. She did exactly what I asked for. The highlights are the best I've ever had, and are absolutely perfect. Jocelyn checked for the amount of lightening along the way, and also checked for the integrity of my already boxed colored hair. When Jocelyn was finished, she gave me an awesome blowout that made my hair soft, voluminous, and bouncy. It was amazing!

Love it here! Got my haircut done by Alexandra Fernandez and she did an amazing job! She asked me plenty of questions before we got started so she understood exactly what I wanted. She would check in with me throughout the process too which was reassuring. She took her time to make sure my haircut came out perfect and exactly how I wanted it. Any changes I asked her for she was happy to do and didn’t make me feel like I was inconveniencing her. I felt comfortable communicating with her and didn’t feel like she was in a rush to finish. She styled it a couple ways and showed me how she did it so I can do it myself in the future which was extremely helpful. She also asked what kind of products I normally use in my hair and used some that she knew I would love based off my feedback. My hair felt so soft, light and healthy afterwards. My stylist, Alex Marie, was very creative and came up with a unique style that looks great for the summer - clean and cool but will also allows me to grow it out again this fall without the awkward stage. Will be very sad when she’s graduated but I am definitely following her to whatever salon she ends up going to.

I was a hair model for a layered haircut with Sabrina. I have extremely long and fine hair that gets tangled easily and can be a pain for any stylist. Sabrina was patient, kind, and comfident. She listened to my concern about not wanting to cut off too much length and made her recommendations based off of the health of my hair. I ended up with a beautiful cut that both of us can be proud of! I can’t wait to come back and schedule an appointment with Sabrina once she gets to her coloring phase.

Went back to Avalon and got my hair cut by Evelyn. She cut my hair the way I wanted, asking her teachers questions, paying a lot of attention to detail, and very thorough in her work. After getting the go ahead to move forward Evelyn began to put my hair up and give the sides and back a fade, all the while explaining to me how each length would look and feel. I actually now know the difference between odd numbers and even numbers on the electric razor. She told me what numbers she used on the fade for the guard on the clipper and kept me informed to a point of feeling comfortable, but not annoyed. After fading the sides and the back, she then began to cut my hair to give me layers. She explained what she was doing and walking me through the process as we were going along. She did a wonderful job and I now have a haircut that makes me feel confident knowing how good it looks. When Evelyn finished the haircut she lined up my neck, sideburns, behind my ears, and sides. She even made sure to note to ask if I wanted it squared or rounded beforehand. After that, she took me over to a station in the back where she shampooed and conditioned my hair. She made sure to ask that the water wasn’t too hot or cold and was gentle with my head when drying it. After drying it Evelyn walked me back to her station and began styling it different ways asking how I liked it best. 10/10 Stylist. 10/10 haircut. She is amazing!! Would also like to note, if you want a haircut where you want to feel comfortable and know that someone who is talented, skilled, informative, and makes sure to listen to what YOU want, I would very much recommend Evelyn. Mercedes was AMAZING! She was very attentive to what I wanted. I went in for a trim with long layers and my hair was super damaged on the ends so I was afraid I would have to loose a bunch of length. Went as a hair model on 8/30 for Adenira. She needed to do a blunt cut and we decided to chop a good amount of my hair off. I was nervous, but she reassured me that it would be the best thing for my hair since a lot of it was damaged from previous lightening. We went for it and let me tell you she did not disappoint! I was in on Monday February 1st to get a hair cut. Jessica Thomas was my beautician. She was great. Good eye contact, listen to what I was thinking about doing with my current hair situation. She gave me some feedback and went over the processes I would be going through that night. She was confident in her ability to do what we spoke about. My only complaint would be at no fault to her is the water temperature. Water temperature was cold, no warm water to wash or rinse. Someone from the schools did finally come and say that a plumber was coming the next day. When I left the school I was very pleased and excited about my “look”. Because they are students, they actually LISTEN to what you want, and they have teachers that check the students' progress and will give them pointers if necessary. They are really great with hair! I got a haircut on my birthday and 2 months later (I am growing it out from a bowl cut) and both times my haircut turned out better than when I got it cut by a professional at Great Clips. I only gave 4 stars because they are not the best with nail services. The nail polish I had chosen only lasted for a few days (I don't do heavy work or anything) and when I had sent my mom to get her nails done, they took 3 hours? Confused but understanding because they are students!

My stylist was Bianca Torres who came highly recommended by my mom who has been having Bianca cut and color her hair for months now, and I have to say the experience left me very impressed. She took the time to talk so I was sure about what I wanted done to my hair and that I knew what she was going to be doing at each step. Answering any questions and offering input about different coloring methods. She was funny and talkative and made the time pass smoothly while she worked on my hair. The price was a bargain and I'm sure I will be booking with her again for my touch up and trim. I heartily recommend her, my hair looks great and her personality made the experience delightful.

I cannot say enough great adjectives about Ashlie! I am no stranger to spa treatments and I can honestly say that Ashlie has a bright future in this business. I am allergic to everything and always worry I might have an allergic reaction. She listened to my concerns and chose products for my facial that left me feeling uplifted, refreshed, hydrated and beautiful. My skin glowed for days! Her touch was soft enough that I was able to relax. I’m usually cold but she went out of her way to make sure I stayed warm during the process. I honestly was concerned about looking perpetually shocked with eyebrows that were tinted too dark. But she nailed the color! First of all she was very nice and friendly. But she is also super talented! My hair turned out great and I'm still going back for highlights. There is not a single flaw with the color. I also got a quick trim, which turned out great! Everything was done in a very professional manner and she always made sure I was comfortable. You can tell she loves what she does!

I would really recommend Clarissa Franco because she really has magic hands with hair cuts. I never let anyone cut my hair because I don't ever get satisfied with the style of layers I want. I had a perm performed at Avalon in Mesa in December of 2019. It was the best perm I have ever had! If I remember correctly, the person who performed it was named Francesca, and she also had an assistant. I have a little longer hair, and it is dry, and has color in it. Maryann, the instructor took extra steps to avoid any more damage to my hair, and applied a special product to it to protect my hair from the chemicals before the perm. Also, Maryann herself, took the time to part my hair into nine sections. Francesca did an excellent job of rolling my hair! I was also put under the hairdryer for a few minutes after my hair was rinsed. I believe all of these steps were extremely beneficial in the outcome of my perm. I love it! I am very grateful for the professionalism, knowledge, and attention that Maryann displayed, and gave during instructions to her students. Thank you very much Maryann, Francesca and assistant!

I loved my time at Avalon School in Mesa. I had never received a spa facial or any kind of spa treatment before, so this was a new experience for me, but I felt right at home in Ashlie’s hands. I had accidentally chose a facial option that wouldn’t have done a lot for myself, and within moments of sitting down with Ashlie, she deduced that I should go another route for my treatment. For a moment I was a little nervous changing my treatment, but after sitting through the experience, my nerves were calmed and I felt completely relaxed. And then I saw the results. I was absolutely blown away at how soft and bright my face was. Even days after the facial I still feel the results. I recently went to Avalon to get a desperately needed hair cut. As a single mom my funds are often low but, my standards aren't. I've been putting off getting a hair cut due to the fact that I usually only let the stylists at Tony & Guy cut my hair. If you've ever been then you know the cost of a cut from there. I decided to visit Avalon and had my hair cut by Jessica S. Needless to say she listened carefully when she asked what I wanted to do with it. I was fine with losing length off my hair (it needed to go) but, didn't want to take it TOO short. She asked me questions, made sure we were on the same page and then the cutting began. Before she even washed my hair she began by chopping almost 4inches of dead hair off. Bye bye dead weight. After a wash she began snipping away revitalizing my hair, my life, and my soul. She took her time and didn't rush through, making sure everything was even and laid nicely. She dried and gave it a little style. With life and volume returned to my hair I happily paid only a fraction of what I would have paid else where. Needless to say, I won't hesitate to return to her in a few weeks to keep up on my hair. I went to Avalon for the first time and was very nervous waiting for my appointment to start. I was quickly put at ease with the students when introduced to my stylist, Ahmad. He was wonderful and very patient with me as I took time to decide what hair color and cut I wanted. I left very satisfied with it all. I'll definitely be coming again. Oh! And the prices were wonderful! :) The only thing I would say is that if they do a test strand to be careful about how close to the scalp the foil is placed when using the hair iron to do the test strand. I did get burned a bit and my scalp still hurts a little. Otherwise I was very happy when I left. Next time I'll come back to redo the wild orchid or another vivid color.

My hair came out fair, she gave me the best she could with her experience level, 4 months. My hair dresser was very friendly and polite, yet nervous which made me nervous. She needs a little confidence. Overall though extremely sincere, and warm. The teacher at the time was George, whom was very knowledgable and helpful. Although even with guidance there are still some angles she didn't get quite right. Not upset, because it still looks good just doesn't have the bounce full look i originally wanted. Also i noticed they don't put serum in your hair to protect against heat damage. As expected my hair feels a little crisp, from over heating. I have virgin hair, that i never place any direct heat on as i take its health very seriously. I know this is a school and for $10 what can one truly expect? So as an end result, it could have been worse. I'm overall satisfied.

My experience at Avalon was a 5-star service! Vanessa Fuentes performed a facial and Erika Leddy performed a back facial, both students did a stellar job! Vanessa’s choice of products for my skin was excellent, skin looked brighter, clearer and felt so good. Instructor recommended other products, but I will definitely use Vanessa’s choice! Erika performed a very relaxing and thorough back facial! Her choice of products left my skin feeling very smooth and supple. The massage was the “icing on the cake” for me!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating for both students, would definitely come back and highly recommend these 2 girls for services!!

I went in to the school not knowing what kind of facial I wanted done to my face and the consultant explained to me what I should get done. I went to the back with Bernadette Mendoza and she took great care of me. She explained everything she was doing to me very well and so I can understand. I had a high frequency done with extractions and my face looked amazing. She even explained to me what i can do at home to better my skin. Bernadette was very professional and caring. I definitely would recommend this place to anybody I know. The prices are cheap and it is a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely going back for more work.

I have to say this is the best place ever. I have been coming in for services for about two months. Briana Kremin has been assisting me with my anti-aging goals. She has done multiple anit-aging therapies on me. I love the mico-current and the chemical peels the most. If I had to suggest one for someone to come in and try it would have to be either the moisture boost, or the signature face lift solution. The amount of professionalism that she portrays, and the quality of her work is exceptional, and well worth your time. Thank you Brian and Avalon!

I cannot express my gratitude towards the instructors and staff at Avalon. I graduated a couple of months ago and I can assure you, the instructors give you the tools you need to succeed. However, do not expect to come to this school and be given everything without working hard. This is not high school, this is a school where you are building your skills to become a licensed cosmetologist. That means working hard, asking questions, practice any time you can and communicating about any concerns you have with instructors right away. I was lucky enough to work with every single teacher and I cannot stress enough how much knowledge each one of them have. Briana during stage one built my skills to be able to perform at my best during the student floor. Maryann and Yvette then refined my skills as I entered the student floor, they work with you not for you and this is an industry that you have to have the drive to do your best and succeed! Robert and Dan along with Chelsie shaped and refined my skills before graduation and because of all of them I was able to perform an average of 40-45 services per month and once licensed I am able to book myself(working on my own) with at least 2 months in advanced! Avalon was the best decision I made and I will be forever grateful towards my instructors. Plus Becky and Adam were always a great support as directors! Remember beauty school is how hard you work to be the best and all the instructors made this possible!!

I went to Avalon to have highlights done. Nevaeh was the student and did an amazing job! I have so much hair so I had to go twice. Both times I could see how the hands on experience is shaping the students to be great cosmotologists. Naveah had some help from her classmate in the first visit and they both worked together and communicated efficiently to ensure proper spacing. I forgot the classmates name but she did a great job too! Both visits the instructor supervised and provided positive feedback and guidance. You could tell the students really loved their instructor as they made comments wishing they could move along through the units with her! Nothing better than seeing a teacher love their job and care about their students. Although Nevaeh has another year left, I couldn't tell. She was very thorough, polite, and overall just had good vibes. Thank you Neveah for doing an amazing job!! I would definitely recommend anyone wanting highlights to see Neveah! Only downside was they don't take cards for tips :-/

I felt confident with purchasing these more expensive products because I feel like I know the purpose of them and how my skin is benefitting from them. I came in and received the "Red Carpet" facial from Stephanie T. on 02/19/21. This was probably one of the best facial's I ever have received, and there have been many. After my facial Stephanie and I went out to dinner where we ordered some wine. I am 47 years old and Stephanie is much younger and deserves to be carded :) The waitress asked us both for some identification! it has been a VERY long time since someone has carded me for drinking wine. I am a current student at Avalon and highly recommend this school to anyone interested in Cosmetology. I specifically want to mention the stage 1 instructor, Robert Maynard. I have had great teachers in the past but Robert is truly amazing. He cares for his students and their future and keeps them excited and motivated to get through their first 10 weeks. His professionalism and fun personality rubs off on all of his students and allows them to be comfortable learning their new trade. I love that Robert pays attention to detail and technique to better prepare us when we move to the floor and because of him I am more confident in myself and my work. All of my models love Robert as well and have commented on how wonderful of an instructor he is. I am grateful for everything Robert has taught me and hope to keep him as a mentor throughout my schooling and career.

I visited Avalon on 01/11/2021, and I was lucky enough to have Jalair do my hair for me. I initially went in for a color, however jalair informed me that because my hair was dry I would be better off with "glaze" . The color from the glaze turned out great, and my hair was left feeling soft and healthy. I would 10/10 recommend Avalon, and Jalair!

The location was conveniently located near food, shopping and entertainment. The staff and administration were helpful and informative. All students were attentive and assisted with any questions that I had. My favorite student by far was Carri Whitworth. She has such a charismatic attitude and is a pleasure to be around. I have informed all my friends about her craftsmanship and they have all come back to me saying that they all adore the work she has done for them and her attitude while she was doing it. She has an ambience that she brings to the entire environment of the school that lightens the mood to make you feel welcomed and that you're home. PLEASE if you go to the Mesa location of Avalon Beauty School see Carri, she will make your experience at this school feel like you've just come from an elite salon.
