I had a great experience today at the Beauty Institute. I walked in and was created right away and signed the form. After a few minutes I was greeted by my stylist. She listened to me and had her instructor go over my hair color choices and what would look better for me. (This was important because my hair is purple and I need root touch ups to get it back to my normal color) We also talked about the cut and how I wanted to cut off 1 1/2 inches in layers. Ahsarah was wonderful. She did a great job with the color and cut. When I told her I’d like curls, she put beautiful curls and an awesome style. I love my hair! Thank you.

My student esthetician was Julianna, the service provided was a facial. Julianna’s service was very thorough, she was very knowledgeable about the service she provided as well as the products she used. Julianna’s technique was perfect, she was gentle and used the right amount of pressure when needed. I left The Beauty Institute refreshed with my skin feeling young and smooth with the perfect glow!

EXCELLENT SERVICE!!!! I had a wonderful experience! Despite the fact my hair color was not available for my retouch. For some reason the stock is always limited, there is no hooded dryer to dry my hair, I had to leave a bit damp in cold weather. A blow dryer doesn’t work for my style, a woman of color with natural curly hair. There are no products for my hair type. I had to choose another color that turned out perfect! Jenna and the teacher came up with a combo to suit my skin tone. I thought was amazing!! They are creative bunch of people with multiple talents. I wish the school would provide a hair line products for women of color and hooded dryers to accommodate the students as well as their clients. Also, to keep the hair colors in stock, I have seen clients walk out because their color wasn’t available. The student then misses the opportunity to serve a client that Will potentially help beyond the school when they graduate from your institute. The classroom is exactly what it is, for preparation for the students career. If you provide limitations as I listed above ( products, hooded dryers etc.) how does that help them when time comes outside of the institute. I’m not a student, I’m a client that is concerned about your students. Thanks again for the excellent service and quick thinking of the teacher and student to allow me to walk out with a color I am pleased with!! The rating was for the excellent service I receive. I’ve gone here many times and have gotten quality cuts and color at amazing prices. The student stylists are friendly and genuinely want to do right by their clients. The key is to remember that this is a school and the stylists are still learning so you may spend a lot of time getting your cut/color. Definitely worth the time.

I was very happy with everything! The front desk lady is always so sweet on the phone and in person. The teacher and Kia were so cool because they listened to me and heard me. It was easy to communicate what I wanted. They understood what I wanted even though I wasn’t sure how to formulate the proper words for the technique. The teacher was knowledgeable and helped the student with the colors, it was great. The student was very hard working and proficient at shampooing and styling my hair and listening when I explained how I wanted my hair straightened. I hope to get her again, she did a great job! Raises for everybody! 5 stars! Thank you so much.

Trina was great. She took her time to get my hair under control. I have a lot of thick curly hair and she did not have a problem washing it, blowing it out, using the flat iron on it or cutting it. For someone who isn’t quite ready to graduate, she did an amazing job. Hopefully I will be back before she graduates.

I went last night for the first time for full highlights and a cut. Priscilla, Mel and instructor Lena worked on my hair, and the cut and color are both excellent. I could not be happier!!! The shop was clean, the entire staff was friendly and professional, both the students and instructors were highly skilled and the price can't be beat. I believe the stylist I had was Angelica and she was so nice and professional! Oh my gosh I'm so happy with what I got today!! My stylist was one of my closest friends, Kendall, who has been going to school here for about a month or two and she's made so much progress! My hair was not in the best shape and she managed to make it feel so silky smooth and volumous! I purchased a haircut package on Groupon for $10.00, which includes a shampoo, deep conditioning treatment, cut, and blow dry. This was my first visit. For starters, the price could not be beat! Scheduling over the phone was simple, and they were able to book me an appointment for exactly when I wanted. You have to understand that these are students, so it might take a little longer than your standard salon visit, but everyone needs to start somewhere! Aside from the amount of time I spent there - my hair is long & thick, and I was there for just under 3 hours - I have no other complaints. In that time frame, though, Clarabelle was thorough and made sure to give my hair the attention it needed. The results are exactly what I wanted, and I walked out with the best hair I've had in quite a while - don't go to anyone else for a blow out, she is the greatest! She also gave me some great insight and tips on how to better manage my hair and scalp; she showed me techniques to prevent dry skin at my hair line, and we discussed better shampoo options. She recommended I use the shampoo & conditioner she used on me during my visit; since it was my first visit, I got 50% off the entire product purchase! I will definitely be scheduling my next hair appointment with Clarabelle at The Beauty Institute. She was very professional, and it was clear she really enjoys what she does. Their prices (without a Groupon) are a great value, so it's a sure bet I will return!

My first experience with the beauty institute did not turn out as I expected, to say I was disappointed is an understatement. The manager reached out and asked me to come back for a redo. She paired me with an amazing student. Michele is an artist, an absolute raw talent, I was so grateful that she was there to fix my hair. Whoever hires this girl will be very lucky because this girl is going to do some incredible things. She is clearly the superstar of the beauty institute. Just got home from my first appointment. I was skeptical at first when the teacher was talking to my hairdresser and with how long it took but the end result was gorgeous! Better than other salons I been too ! She did an amazing job! Even thought it did take awhile longer than I thought. I’m really glad my hair dresser cared enough to take her time and even stay later to finish my hair the proper way instead of rushing thru it to get done ! I would 100% reconmmend going here if you have the time. it will save you so much money ! And the quality is top notch ! Super happy with my result ! I will be returning !

Awesome experience!! i went there to get my hair colored, and it came out perfect! Kiaya Newton did an awesome job. She listened to what I wanted when looking through the color book. And she did a great job making the right mixture since, I had two shades in my hair already. The color came out and it was just what I wanted! Everything was very professional. And when she washed my hair, it was very relaxing. And then she showed me her pin curl skills. They lasted a week in my hair, and some of those days were rainy. I even got good advice about different products. Would definitely come back!

Called to make an appointment , got one at exactly the time I requested . I had no idea this was a school till I got there. Anyway I get there but I stay because I'm like hey why not? Kristin P was assigned to me and she did an excellent job, she checked with her instructor when in doubt and double checked if i was ok with how things were going . She recommended a deep conditioning which did absolute wonders for my hair . Because she is a student , she did take a little bit more than usual but it was only because she was being thorough. At checkout I got 50% discount so I paid $15 for a hair cut and treatment I have paid $100-150 in the past l. Highly recommend this place and Kristin P.

Nathan looked at the picture & immediately knew how to proceed. I've been there three times now so he taught 3 different students how to utilize the skills they have to achieve something that is not just like everyone elses. He discussed, showed, and guided, step by step, and encouraged them to own their skills and be open to creative cuts. If I was going to this school I would want his instruction! My favorite student is Emily very skilled, highly personable, and so sweet! She listens,which is oh so important. I watched her listen to learn, and she pays attention to what the client is saying. She will go far! Amanda at the front desk is so helpful and accommodating. She too, is very personable. Other instructors stop by and chat. The owner stopped to say "hi" and thanked me for my business. The products recommended are exactly what works for my hair.No more hair product grave yard for me! Honestly, I couldn't find a negative thing to say if you paid me! Oh, and the prices are awesome!

Both were excellent; both were excited about the hair style I choose (stacked bob with long bangs); Jen and Caitlin discussed how to achieve the optimum color I choose - i have (or had) 50% grey hair and Jen actually wrote out the formula on the mirror - I learned thing as well. Awesome place-school for hair services and products. The front desk is super friendly. Teachers and instructors are knowledgeable with always being on the floor. Great parking and the students are truly dedicated to learning and making you look your best. I come on Saturdays and bring my daughter too. I would highly recommend it. Come early-on time because Roosevelt traffic is always wacky. Highly recommended. I don't think there's any other school that can do it better. Bring extra money for products too as they sell them below minimum at the standard price as they don't make any profit but share the tools and love is the products. Bring cash to tip the students too.

I also forgot to mention the Ladies at the front desk who greet you with such pleasant smiles and welcome you to the establishment. The instructors are all hands on and observing and assisting the students when needed.

I went in to get balayage done less than a week ago and I have long hair so the process took five hours. I had Kiara do my hair and she was great. I wanted to get an ash blonde for my ends and keep my roots my natural color. The instructor, Nathan, told me that the color would be darker due to my dark hair. I was expecting a dark blonde, but I pretty much ended up with a brown with a hint of blonde instead. At first I liked my hair color, even though it wasn't exactly what I wanted, but it looks like there was nothing done to my hair. You can only see color when you're under bright lights, which is what happened while I was there. Overall, the place was clean and my experience was great, except my color.

I had Alicia, I felt so bad because I gave her one of the hardest jobs possible and she pulled it off. I wanted light purple hair and I'm naturally dark brown, she was able to pull it off! The only thing is my hair now has some orange undertones but that's nothing anothe trip won't fix. For my hair to be double treated with bleach, dyed and washed it only cost $30

I have been a client for quite some time. They have evening hours, which is fantastic!! Great experience, pleasant staff & students. The two Receptionists Nancy & Melissa always wear a smile and make you feel welcomed. The only suggestion that I have is to offer more products for different ethnic groups. I was very skeptical at first to have my hair done at a beauty school but I saw the great reviews and decided to give it a shot. I was so jaded by my last coloring experience, the price was ridiculous and I left feeling very disappointed with the end result. But here the moment I began talking with the student(Kimberly) and the supervising instructor(Veronica) I felt totally at ease. They both listened to me and had lots of input as well. They take their time there and are so maticulous. I felt more like I was in some high and salon in Rittenhouse rather than a beauty school in the Northeast. The end result was amazing! I am sick of spending $200+ each at the salon for me & my daughter & we desperately needed to get our hair done so I googled "best inexpensive salons near me" & this is what I found. I was nervous about trusting a student with our hair but after reading all the great reviews I figured I'd give it a shot. My daughter came for just a simple trim but decided to get her hair dyed for the first time. She wanted red but was nervous to do anything drastic & the stylist gave her a beautiful shade that compliments her perfectly. Unfortunately I can't remember my daughters stylists name to give her proper credit. I walked in the salon with dull, flat, lifeless, dried out brown hair & walked out with the most beautiful, warm balayage/ombre with different shades of brown & blonde perfectly blended. I've had the same cut for as long as I can remember & my stylist Thomas convinced me to try a new "lob". At first look I was a little shocked & wasn't sure about it because it was so different than how I've worn my hair for so many years but it literally only took me about 2 hours to fall completely in love with it. It's so light & flowy & for the first time in forever I feel like I have an up-to-date hairstyle & the best part is that it's easy to manage. Thomas is such a perfectionist & he is so very talented. He has the ability to choose a style that is perfect for you when you don't even know what you want. He did an amazing job transforming my hair & he was the most friendly easy to talk to person while he did it. This was a great experience. My only regret is running out so fast that I forgot to buy the products he recommended!

They arent financially exorbitant and its quite lazy to not upgrade to have ALL CLIENTS leave after enjoying a beautiful experience. I will be back and pray your executive team fixes this issue.

I only wanted a quarter inch and was a little scared that the stylist would wind up cutting more. Anthony LoPresti did exactly what I asked for. He was extremely thorough and meticulous. He only cut the length I specified and was very professional. I am so happy with my hair. It's healthy and has body and still long in length. I only gave one star at first because there were no options for zero stars. ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE. I came in this past weekend looking to get my roots touched up and get my hair uniformly blonde but instead got a color that resembled Ronald McDonald. When I was at the sink and unable to see the color of my own hair, both the teacher Ombre ( I think that's how you spell her name) and the student were talking. Ombre then remarks how the color turned out darker than expected. To make a long story short I requested them to redo it twice and in the end the color wouldnt budge. Now I know that my hair can be hard to color blonde but you would think with the expertise of the teacher that she would know what to do from beginning. Instead I ended up paying almost $40 for something I could have done at home for $5 worth of boxed hair dye and to top it all off they didn't have the decency to blow dry my hair in a halfway decent style. When I asked for product to smooth my edges Ombre then said that all the products are locked up. There was no excuse for that and before you give the hair school disclaimer I have gone to lesser equipped beauty schools in the 'hood and got better results. Looks are definitely deceiving as this looks like a top of the line hair school. Every other client went home with their hair pretty but I went home looking like an electrocuted rooster. And to top it off I was there from 1 to close. My hair is not that difficult (3b thick curly hair) and Ombre I know that you probably couldn't access the products but maybe a quick up do would've been good enough. I was just done at the end of my visit and just too lost for words. It was too late.I walked out wanting to cry and I noticed one of the hair students outside as I was leaving looking at me as if to "what happened?". Terrible customer service to say the least and at this point I wouldn't recommend this place to no one. 😫😕 Update: I returned to the school later for a color do-over. I have to say that I am now satisfied and the student/stylist Courtney did a good job. 100% difference from my first visit. 👍

I came in with my son as one of the clients for my sister’s class (my son being the second client) ... everything went great ... from the wash to getting my hair straightened . Even my son had a good time . HOWEVER , my son was done getting his hair done and it was my turn so my son stayed with me while i was getting my hair done and the teacher told my sister that he would have to sit up front by himself ... my son is not no 14-15 year old kid that’ll do fine by himself nor did i have someone that would be able to stay with him so do you really think i was going to allow my son to be by himself somewhere where i couldn’t see him to make sure he was okay ?! I don’t think so . My son is a very calm child and did nothing but stay next to me playing a game on my phone . There’s been multiple times where I’ve been here and seen kids running around the shop and their parents not being told anything so why is my kid any different ?

I went here for basic loc maintenance + styling. Monica Murray was my stylist. She had never done locs before and the instructors did not have any experience with them either. However, she was able to pick it right up after I gave her a quick hands-on tutorial! Not only did she re-twist my locs beautifully, but she was able to put them up in a very cute style with only a few pins. All this on her very first time working with locs! The space itself is light, bright and airy. It is very clean, friendly and professional. I would suggest the school stock a wider variety of products for various hair types and teach more diverse styling techniques (the reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5). I will definitely be back!
