I went to Windy's as a client of Holly's for ~6mos before Holly had to take time off to care for her sick mom. I caught back up with Holly recently (she is now working out of the Ballard and Phinney Ridge Rudy's Barbershop locations) and learned Windy wasn't telling people who asked where to find Holly now, so I wanted to spread the word. Seems unfair to not help clients who liked working with Holly find her new spot, especially since Windy doesn't seem to have enough time to handle all Holly's old clients. (I had to go somewhere else entirely while Holly wasn't working because Windy was too busy to schedule me.) I'm sure Windy's haircuts are great, but it sounds like her business practices leave a little something to be desired, thus the 3 star rating. Also, you can now book online with Holly at the Rudy's locations; one of the big bummers about Windy's is that you have to either text or call to schedule; no online system. Would love to see Windy's add that feature!

Windy is absolutely THE BEST. I came in for my first haircut since the pandemic, so I was crazy nervous. But as soon as I was in the chair, she made me feel right at home. Windy is super skilled at dealing with hair that's cowlick-y, growth-pattern swirly, and just all around difficult in a way that most barbers can't handle or don't pay attention to. Added bonuses? Cute shop dogs! And the conversation is hilarious and fun -- not just the usual small talk like you are forced to make with your great auntie at family events. Finally, it seems like an understatement to call this place LGBTQ friendly, so come all ye queerdos for the best haircut you can get!

COVID knocked out my last barbershop, and it's taken me since the start of the pandemic to find a rad barbershop that I was comfortable going to. I loved it here. The stylists are engaging, and seems they're having a good time. I sent a few photos over text for the style I wanted, and, I believe, Holly (I'm terrible with names, I'm sorry!) took a look and nailed it. She gave numerous check-ins and suggestions, which was extremely appreciated. Extremely happy with the haircut, and definitely found a new home. You're all pretty great!

I've been going to Windy's Barber Lounge for over a year now and it's my home away from home. Great haircuts, really friendly staff, just a really awesome atmosphere. There is always a fun conversation going whenever I get there and the haircuts are always top notch. Windy, Virginia and Holly are all super knowledgeable and true masters of their craft. I stopped by Windy’s because my regular barber was booked up. Virgina cut my hair; she was very sociable and talented. She had a very similar style of cutting to my regular barber and was able to recreate my usual cut with no issue whatsoever. I can be quite picky about my hair, but this place blew me away, not to mention the lovely atmosphere and classic barbershop vibe.

I've been growing out my hair during quarantine but have been anxious to go into a barber since I am fairly soft-spoken and don't always feel like I've been listened to. My experience at Windy's has hands-down been the best experience I had anywhere and this is easily the happiest I've ever been with a haircut. I texted to make an appointment (which is a very nice option to have) and they managed to fit me in during the same day. They also asked what kind of haircut I wanted before I ever set foot in the shop so they could pair me with a compatible barber which was something I have never had happen before and was also lovely. I arrived and was quickly and very politely checked-in with my temp being taken and was also given gloves. I was paired with Holly who was not only extremely friendly and skillful, but also was a very good listener and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted and even checked in with me at several points before going forward. The vibe of the shop was very casual and friendly and I was extremely comfortable throughout my visit. I will absolutely be back and will definitely go with Holly again. I cannot recommend this place enough and I will be suggesting here to all my friends.

I've been to Windy's twice now and I have a feeling I'm never going anywhere else for a long time. Virginia cut my hair both times and she is absolutely fantastic. She's told me she's been cutting hair for over 15 years now, I believe. She has an impressive and very technical approach to cutting hair that gives her impeccable consistency. She's also very down to earth with her conversation. I discovered Virginia by booking through Windy who gave me a very thorough questionaire on my hair and personally recommended Virginia. I couldn't be happier with my experience. Side note: I was worried about getting a haircut during COVID at first but Windy's Barber Shop has really good protocols that gave me a lot of peace of mind. Very clean, safe, and thorough.

I've been getting my haircut at Windy's for going on 5 years now and have received a fantastic cut every time. Windy is my primary barber, but I have also gotten cuts from others at the shop. Windy and the rest of the staff are not only extremely skilled in their technique, but offer great insights on styling, care, and maintenance. The atmosphere in the shop is great and customers absolutely feel welcome. During the (currently ongoing) COVID pandemic, the shop implemented strong cleanliness and safety guidelines, really going above and beyond to ensure the safety of the staff and clients.

Everyone friendly, easy to get along with long as you bring the same energy. They're very flexible and understanding. They'll work with you, just tell em what you need. I’ve been going to see Windy every 3 weeks for 5+ yrs now. Her and all of the barbers that work there are consultative, purposeful and fun. But best of all they give sick cuts you’ll be proud of. Like walk down the street and people comment on your hair kind of proud. Windy keeps notes on our conversations about what we want to try next, what’s working and what’s not, so I know that we’re always on the same page. Best of all she fixes the cuts from those other barber shops you’ve tried and hated.

Friendly baber shop with nice staff. Haircut was exactly what I asked for! Overall had a great experience, and Windy was easy to schedule with through text. Do note that debit cards get an approximate $1.30 charge because they prefer cash or venmo - not a deal breaker. 5 stars

Finding a really good barber is hard to find anywhere. Windy and her staff have been cutting my hair for over 4 years now and I’ve never ever had a bad experience. It’s a real close knit group they have there and conversations with everyone are always pleasant. My favorite thing about this place is that Windy will never let anyone leave with a bad haircut - whether she cuts it or not, she will make it work and ensure the customer is happy.

Windy gives the best haircuts which is why I have followed her from her original location in Wallingford (4 years ago). She always takes the appropriate time on your hair and I look forward to the good conversations with her and the others in the shop. When she was out recently for a surgery, she even gave the barber detailed notes/pics for my specific haircut! She recently transitioned to a new location in Ballard and has put in extra time, effort, and money to get the shop setup the best for her customers- and it has paid off. I've been going to Windy's for 6 months or more now and I love it. Before this I spent about $100 a haircut downtown and I feel like my cut here is just as good for a third of the price. I've had cuts from all 3 barbers currently working there and they've all done a fantastic job so if you can't get in to see Windy both Marie and Brooke are great as well. One of my favorite parts about this place outside of their skill cutting hair is how welcome they make you feel while you're there. They offer you a drink when you walk in the door and have video games and magazines to occupy you while you wait. While you're getting your haircut the conversation feels real because they listen to you so it isn't just an occupy the time conversation that you get at some other places. Plus if you're looking for tips with what to do with your hair they're great for that as well. If you're looking for a great haircut from people who care about their customers then Windy's is your place.

I have been going to Windy since before she opened her own location. It has been great to see this hard working couple open up the Lounge and go from a few customers to full-on just about booking-only. The Lounge is a great testament to the vibe of the roots of Seattle, which seems to be so quickly evaporating in many business environments. If you want a great experience with your cut and also a great environment where you come back and see old friends, this is the place. I have never had anything less than an exceptional cut here! I will be moving on from Seattle, and today was probably my last cut there, and one thing I don't look forward to is trying to find an exceptionally talented stylist like Windy and the great crew over there! Cheers to you and your crew! PS. They have a standing policy, and rightly so, that you need to notify them within 24 hours of cancellation so that they can fill your slot. Please respect their business so that they can better serve you. This is a small business and YOU need to support them. Or they go away and all you will have is things like Supercuts. With the exceptional effort they go through to make this a great place to get a great haircut, you really should be putting your hard earned money into businesses that care, not trying to get a haircut that makes you look like you went to a chop shop for 10 minutes so you could save $5. At Windy's they care about detail and care that you get exceptional service.

I can't recommend Windys Barber Lounge enough! I have been getting my hair cut here since they opened. I have always had excellent service, and most importantly a nice looking haircut. I had Windy as my barber at her previous shop, but the experience is much better now that she has her own business and is able for deliver an even higher level of service. I've been getting my cuts from Windy for over three years, have referred numerous friends to her, and have simply never had a better barber. Ever. Anywhere. I would think twice about moving from Seattle because I wouldn't be able to go to her for haircuts. She's tended to my hair at every length from a buzz cut to a ponytail and I've never walked out dissatisfied. Reasonable rates, relaxed atmosphere, dog and kid friendly, parking out front and in the back, drinks while you wait for your appointment, there is nothing not to love about the place.

Windy's is a gem. I visit twice a month, partly because my hair gets wild pretty quick, but partly because I love hanging out with Windy, Aylene, and Marie. When I decided to change my style last year, I was nervous about finding a new barber but Windy's is more than I could have hoped for. Windy is a hair cutting rockstar. She's taken the mess I brought it with me the first time and made it look fantastic every time. I've gotten more compliments on my hair in the last year than the previous 15 combined. The atmosphere is casual, laid back, and friendly. The first time I visited, they had one of my favorite bands on and I remember immediately feeling comfortable. Aylene is quick to smile and offer a drink and Windy and Marie never fail to look up from their work to say hi as you walk in. It feels more like dropping in on old friends than walking into a business. Its obvious that they care about you and conversation is free and easy. I went through a tough time last year and Windy was gracious, caring, and encouraging through it all. I really do consider them friends. They're often busy, but there is a very good reason for that. I think I've brought four or five more clients to them myself. If you're on the fence, call in and make an appointment. You won't get a better hair cut from better people anywhere else in the city.

Like most great spots, I found out about this place from a friend who had been a regular of Windy's for years. My mom and I were in a bit of a pinch with a ceremony to attend the next day. Windy fixed my mom's hair super fancy (She had been sweating it.) and then made my hair look better than it ever has. Now I'm a regular too. You will want to call a day or two in advance, especially if the weekend is coming up. Well worth the trip!

My hair isn't easy to cut. Most any barber or stylist can make it look good at the shop, but I've come across only a few that could cut it so that it looks good for 4-6 weeks. WIndy's one of those select few. Her talent is incomparable, and she delivers every time. I often stop by to tip her again, 2, 3, 4 weeks out, because my hair looks great for at least a month after she cuts it. I don't know past that because I see her monthly. :-D

It's less expensive than other places in the area, and they spend as much time as needed to get your hair looking good. The vibe is very chill and conversation fun. I've had no problem both walking in and making appointments. Even if they don't have space for me same day they always try to find another option for me. I had the absolute pleasure and the rockstar outcome of a custom balayage and cut by Virginia at Windy's in Ballard. Virginia took the time to walk me through the process, select a color tone pattern and then execute a multidimensional balayage masterpiece -- this blonde and cut are literally the best I have ever had. Balayage is no joke -- it's an advanced color process which ditches the foils and root lines for a sun kissed hand-painted look (because the entire thing is an art -- and IS hand-painted) -- I could not be happier. Virginia is a pro, so much fun to hang out in her chair (even though we have to be faces covered, latex gloves, and temp checked) she made the process just as awesome and very safe and comfortable. She will be doing all of my dye jobs in the future. :)) *knockout status*

Went in for a beard trim. The staff was nice and I'm happy with the trim I got. They ever offered me a cold Ranier! Coffee, water, and other things too, but the idea of a Ranier with my beard trim was a nice touch.

Windy gives the best haircuts which is why I have been a client for the past 8+ years. She always takes the appropriate time on your hair and I look forward to the good conversations with her and the others in the shop. When she was out for a surgery, she made sure to gave the other barber detailed notes/pics for my specific haircut. The cuts are always the best and which is why I continue to visit the shop even from West Seattle. I definitely recommend her and her staff!

Windy knows how to cut the hair of a balding guy, and more importantly, make it look flippin' GOOD. She spends the same time on me, getting it right, as with someone with twice the hair. Windy is punk, she's fun, she knows what she's doing, and it shows. Even as a balding guy you won't end up with a shapeless boring politician's haircut -- unless you're into that sort of thing of course.
