The experience and Stylist was 5 star great! Stylist often would ask for our inputs to confirm with BOTH mom and child of our personal preferences throughout the progress of the cut, assuring customer satisfaction. Pricing is most cuts starting at $10. Fair and reasonable Mohawk Cut for us on this visit was $14. I was drawn in to this location because of it's barber shop atmosphere. They even offer hot shaves which I believe to be a luxury not many places have as available service. One thing to know before going is they accept CASH ONLY and they close at 5:30 PM.

I would highly recommend this barber shop! It has good prices and all the haircuts I've gotten here have been great. I'm not dedicated to any one barber and get a different person every time, but still every haircut I get is fantastic! Also this place has really good prices. It's cash only, but there is an ATM if you forget (I always do). Remember to tip your barber!! With the low base price of the haircut I know you can afford it! Also this place has such a vibe.

You get what you pay for. It's an incredible value but don't expect high quality hair cuts. I had a great cut on my first visit. My second cut was patchy and and uneven. I gave it another chance yesterday and again got a patchy and uneven cut. I'll pay a bit more to get a more reliable hair cut elsewhere. This is probably a great place if you just need a very simple cut without scissors, but for me (men's medium length hair) it was unreliable.

The quality of your cut will depend on your barber and preferences, but the overall establishment is a blessing for those on a budget. Cuts are currently at $10 each (December 2021) and all the barbers are attentive. The wait can get long at peak hours, but there's ample seating while you wait.

I just moved to the state and needed a clean-up after I got my hair dyed. I thought I'd give this place a try after seeing the reviews. I asked for a 1 to 2 fade on the sides with a side part on top. I received exactly what I asked for, and they managed to keep almost all my dyed hair. For $10 with tons of friendly conversations, I will surely be going back.

I like the old barbershop feel to this place. It doesn’t have that production line vibe of one of the nationwide chain stores. I only let one person cut my hair there and it’s Maggie. She’s a master of her craft and real personable. She’s really attentive to what look your trying to ultimately achieve. On a few occasions she’s stuck around later than she normally does to accommodate me and my work schedule. If that’s not customer service at its best I don’t know what is. I would definitely recommend her to anyone.

Big Five Stars!!! Finally my dad found a trusted barber place after three years searching. They are the loveliest people that offer quality haircuts. They also have a Vietnamese barber name Phi as well for all of my Vietnamese folks out there. The price could not be more affordable and they take cash only. This was used to be the cheapest place to get a haircut. It has changed last few months. They increased the price so high, Great Clips is cheaper with a coupon nowadays. Don't forget to wear your mask they will charge you a lot of money instead of giving you one. Cash only!! This place will lose a lot of customers very soon.

Good place. I was nervous going in cuz it was only 8 dollars. The haircut I got was good though. One of the barber lady's was really honest with me. She said she couldn't do my hair and referred me to another lady who could. I thought it was cool because she was honest. Most barbers say they can cut black hair, but can't. Then my hair looks messed up, but not here. They were honest.

This is a great barbershop! Last time I was there they had a new sink put in and they are selling product. The barber at the end is always dressed nice (he wears a tie) and his cuts are better than any $30 shop I’ve been to. I’ve gone to him the last couple of times and my hair has never looked better. He doesn’t use the machine attachments, he does it freehand but his fades are some of the best I’ve seen. I recommend him 💯% !!!

It depend on what u want. If u just want a simple haircut $6 is great. I take my boys there. But it's all about who u get to cut your hair. You can wait for someone that u like but when u have kids that's not always possible. I've had a few not awesome haircuts done but usually it's fine. However, be prepared THEY ONLY TAKE CASH!

A good mix of experienced and less-experienced barbers. I've been going there since 1992, and several of the staff have been there for years! As of March 2016, most cuts are $6.00. There is a price list on the wall. They have always been cash-only, but there is an ATM available. There is a number system, but one can wait for a specific barber, if they wish. The real plus is that each of these workers is a licensed barber, not just a stylist. Speaking as a veteran, I like that I can describe what kind of cut I want, and get exactly that, even from a newer member of the staff. The staff is friendly and they work fast. This is a plus because there are times when the place is packed! They seem to work well with all ages and nationalities. I know I have heard Spanish and Vietnamese spoken there. Since the haircuts are so inexpensive, I strongly recommend tipping at least a couple of bucks. They certainly deserve it! Kudos and top recommendations for The Dollar Barber Shop!

The barber was kind and lightening fast. They definitely have that old time charm without a lot of modern fluff; you pay cash so definitely bring a 10 dollar bill with you otherwise they will have you use their ATM which charges a small fee. Overall liked the fast service for such a cheap yet great haircut.

What can I say? You get what you pay for but hey, a lot of these barbers do good jobs. Only reason for the 4 stars because walking in there and taking a number, you never know which barber you'll get. I also got so use to paying $5 but it recently went up to $6 and can cost more if you want it styled. But unlike a lot of others, I keep my hair pretty short so $6 is nothing compared to the $15-$40 I've paid for in the past at other barber shops for the same haircut. As you can tell, I'll be coming here more often than not.

Let me tell you why I gave this 5 stars. Are you going to get the best haircut of your life here? Probably not. Are you going to get a just as good or better haircut than any other discount haircut place (i.e Great Clips or Sport Clips)? Definitely! The few barbers that I have had are great and professional. You're in and out real quick and the haircut only costs $6 (but $10 with a tip and you better be tipping) so it's a better deal than most places and it's a better haircut. Cash only.

This place knows how to run a business. They dont charge you $25 to get your hair done because you're just getting your haircut. The pricing is more than fair. Also, I have never waited more than 5 minutes to be seen. Everytime I've gone, I have had someone else cut my hair. It looks great every time! Hard to beat a $6 haircut overall the barber's are friendly but you occasionally get the one that doesn't converse much if any and just wants to get you in and out. Update Place drops a star because they are no longer $6 instead they are $8. Still a good bargain but it sucks they bumped the price.

I always see this barbershop while driving on 700 East, but never checked it out. I've always thought the haircuts were going to be given by barber school students, which would be sub par quality haircuts, hence the cheaper price. But I've decided to give them a try, after my friend was going there for his haircut, and his previous haircuts were pretty decent. Inside the barbershop, there are many chairs with male and female barbers along the side cutting hair, and the seating area is in the center of the barbershop. I've decided to get my haircut from the older gentleman on the left, that my friend has been going for years now. After my haircut, it really didn't look like I got a haircut, mostly a trim on the sides. Maybe I was paranoid that the barber was going to mess up my hair, so I asked more of a tape up. Nevertheless, it wasn't bad at all, as the cut was only $6 for a regular haircut (couple of months ago, now they've raised it to $8 for a regular haircut), and I gave him $10 with tip. It's more for a shave or a specialty haircut. I went back a couple of times after that, every two weeks. Previously I was paying $25 for a regular haircut (without tip) on a monthly basis, but now it was cheaper to look fresh every two weeks. I went to a different barber each time, as I wanted to find someone that knows how to cut my hair to my liking, and will continue go to them regularly. I found one guy (tattoo with sick stach/beard) that I really liked, he sat all the way in the back on the right side; but two weeks later when I returned, he and other barbers quit (something about the barbers wanting to charge more). So I've decided to give another guy a try (African American), he was fresh out of barber school, and boy was he slow (messed up my haircut too)-never going back to him again. The Korean lady (I think "Fi" is her name, I really need to learn their names) that sits on the left is the best, she's pretty fast and cuts good. Honestly, it's a really good place to get a cheap and fast haircut, for a super affordable price. People bring their family and kids to get haircuts here, it's always pretty busy, especially on the weekend (closed Sunday). I'd recommend finding someone (if they don't quit) that you're compatible with, and sticking with them. They don't do appointments, it's walk in, get a ticket, and waiting for them to call your number. But you can still choose who you want to cut your hair, even if your number is called. Just tell them your number was called, and you're next with this barber. Stay looking fresh people!

I bring my son here for a quick cut, very affordable and friendly staff but most of the time this establishment is full and you'll have to wait for a long line, either you go grab a good donut on the other side of the street or read their magazine passed around the establishment. Obviously the name of the place does tend to make one a little skeptical. I have two friends who always have excellent fades, so one day I asked them where do they get their haircut? Both of them responded with "that $6 Haircut Place on 700 East. I was blown away. I absolutely love this place. I've only been there four or five times and it doesn't matter what barber I get, they always do a superb job. Their customer service is awesome and the wait is never long. Budget or no budget, I would choose this place over any other barbershop in town.

Great $6 haircut (Tip you're barber!) Love the old school feel. Rows and rows of barber chairs. Take a number, but they get to you quick. You can wait for your favorite barber but I'm too impatient. Most do a pretty good job. If you're looking for a fancy updated barber shop, go to the mall, but if you want a fast and cheap haircut, come here.

There is no better value for a haircut in Salt Lake City. Six dollars plus tip for a haircut? I'm not a permanent customer after spending over double for a cut at competing chains like Great Clips or Super Cuts. It can get pretty busy however, so schedule some time for your visit. The haircut I got was well done, and I felt like all of the barbers there were very competent. Be advised that this establishment is CASH ONLY. So plan on bringing a ten dollar bill, and then have a few bucks left over to leave a tip. I'm sure they'll have earned it. Oh and there is an ATM in the back of the shop if you forgot to bring cash.

Listen, this place is efficient, cheap, with a retro feel. Come with your hair washed and combed, grab a number, and get a six dollar cut. Im from California. Since i moved to utah its been hard to find a clean fade without having to pay 20+!!!! Everybody in this place can do a decent fade. But my favorite barber has to be the person they call "B" I drive 40 minutes every day to get a hair cut from her!! She Will give you a clean fade and quick!!! I appreciate people like her, who dont take advantage plus giving you a real fade!! Make sure to not take advantage of her and her prices and hook her up with a tip!!!

Been coming here for a long long time. I used to love this place until my last two trips I’ve been stuck with the same two barbers on the very end of each row who should be considered “sales men” instead. One barber with blonde hair and a beard cut my hair horribly and then proceeded to tell me that the only way to make it “look good” would be to use his pomade hair products he sells. The fade was horrible and not even blended. I should have known better than to sit in his chair because before he started he said “well, I’ll cut you hair and if you like it, you like it. And if you don’t, well, you don’t” I’m giving three stars because the other barbers are great. Avoid the guys at the back of the shop on each row.

Amazing barber shop.!! They have like 8 of these ancient barber chairs that even have those cigarette ashtrays like in 1962. Cash only. You walk in the front door and you take a number like an old butcher shop. This is what those fancy hipster barber shops wish they could grow up to be. No they don't wax your fancy moustache or offer you a shot of the trendy new bourbon of the week. It's just fun and costs like 10 bucks, boom, youre in, you got a haircut, youre done. Out the door
