Just got my long hair cut and cleaned up by "Shy Sunny". I was hesitant finding a location to touch my needy long hair and know I'll walk out not looking like Lord Farquad. This place is it. I also love conversation but am not interested in small talk, that's why I chose "Shy Sunny" to allow me to be comfortable in the silence. While other stylists where talking sports and travels etc. I got to sit and enjoy my haircut in silence without awkwardness. I also asked her a few questions and advice about hair which she eagerly gave good advice. I highly recommend her for anyone wanting some peace during a haircut.

The entire experience is amazing from the time you book to the time your step out the door. It's really easy to book online and when you get there, you are welcomed and cared for immediately. They offer a beverage (water, coffee, soda) while you wait for your barber to get ready to take care of you. It was my first time trying this place out and I can safely say I will definitely be coming back.

I’ve been a regular at Garrett Michaels for the past six years, and have to say this is the best barbershop in town. The vibe of the place is great, the staff are sweet and attentive, and the barbers are all great. I personally get my haircuts by Kevin, aka Master Chief, and he is easily the best barber I’ve had in my life. He’s super professional, and great to chat to. More importantly I know I’m going to walk out with an amazing haircut.

This shop is Superior! Before you walk in there’s beautiful glowing flowers all over the building, before you enter the door there’s a complementary dog food bowl and water. Greeted as soon as we walked in & the two people getting there haircut was greeted by name. The smell of the shop should be bottle up and sold in stores. We were offered drinks the second we sat down! Both people in our group had a phenomenal experience, this shop knows what their doing and if your any where near them, make this shop your priority! As a shop owner myself I was blown away and in complete awe of this entire shop! Xoxo -fellas

There couldn’t have been a better first impression. The shop smells nice, looks clean, and has a really welcoming vibe. Baby Blue was very nice and clearly knew what she was doing. She took the time to get to know my hair before doing anything, and let me know what she was doing along the way. I’ll be back for sure!

In my entire existence of getting a haircut in designer salons and barber shops across the U.S. I'd say I'm lucky to stumble upon one of the best places to get a haircut, here in SLC - the Garrett Michael Barber Shop. I always walk out feeling super good with an amazing cut. Where they really pay attention in getting your vocalized vision "right", but also the conversations while it's happening are good and fun. The staff are super professional, hospitable, personable, and real. I'm a fan of barbers: Barber Blonde and Baby Blue. They really make getting a haircut a good experience - and it looks and feels just right. Keep up the great work guys!

An excellent hair cut. The pre wash to the cut and straight razor clean up after the hot lavender towel and the post cut wash and styling, everything was on point! Excellent conversation and very professional. I will be back!! The space is very nice as well, good music, welcoming and calm environment, nice decorating.

This is “cut above the rest “ barbershop in SLC. Great barbers great environment you get your drink, coffee etc… while you wait, awesome staff I have been going there for last couple of months and I love going there for the whole experience. I came to this fine establishment yesterday and received a fantastic haircut and beard trim. Kevin was my barber and he did great. He was personable and careful as he took his time to make my hair look the way I wanted it. The studio is small, neat and clean. It has a classic and classy aesthetic that I found very appealing. It is pricey though; but I don't consider that a negative, because the price is right up front and this is the type of place you go to pamper yourself. I hope to be back someday. In the meantime, I will enjoy my new look. Thank you Kevin.

Easily the best shave in downtown Salt Lake. Friendly, experienced barbers who can give you the style you want. The full beard service is functional and relaxing complete with beard care products and hot towels. They have cheaper options that are also available if you just want a quick trim. Waiting available outside and inside. I highly recommend Esteban.

I walked past this place at night and the atmosphere inside through the window was so inviting I scheduled a cut the next day. They offer a choice of beverages while you wait which was a great touch. I was impressed by how clean and organized the place was as well as by their anti-covid precautions. Esteban (? Sorry I hope I got your name right because you did a great job) cut my hair from a picture I showed him. He was friendly and clearly skilled, showing much more care and attention to giving me the cut I wanted than other utah barbers have. I went with the deluxe cut and the shampooing and hot towel service made it worth it. He was also super knowledgeable about hair products and by the end I trusted his advice enough to buy some for myself. The deluxe cut was 45$ more than I’ve ever paid for a haircut but it’s hard to imagine never doing it again, because it was relaxing as hell and I love my hair.

The Garrett Michael Barber Shop is 10 out of 10 in my book. The staff is professional as well as friendly and engaging. Gillian, the barber who cut my hair, did a great job with my hair. I said as I left this might have been the best haircut I've ever gotten. We had a lovely conversation and got together greatly. The environment is nice and it seemed most of the customers that came in after me were regulars, and the staff seemed to know everyone who stepped in. I have nothing negative to say about this place. This was one of the best hair cutting experiences I've had in my life and I will be a returning customer.

The hospitality and atmosphere was excellent and what you’d expect from a high end salon. I was impressed walking in with how I was greeted and welcomed in. Staff took their time to ensure I was comfortable even though they were all busy. As someone who is in the business of hospitality I will say this service was best in class. Though, my hair came out very differently. After describing to my barber exactly what I wanted and DID NOT want we proceeded. Only to end up with a more extreme version of what I didn’t want. This was a pretty huge let down as the shop had exceeded every expectation until this point. The outcome had me thinking that my barber didn’t listen to me at all and proceeded to do what they were comfortable with. I mean to be constructive and not nagging with my review - please listen to your customers more closely.

I was always the guy that bounced around from barber shop to barber shop just getting a walk-in haircut when I felt like it. 6 months ago, Garrett Michael was suggested to me, I scheduled an appointment with Liz and have not thought about going anywhere else or seeing another barber since. This is the best barber shop in the entire city. Their building recently got an upgrade (they moved next door), and the new experience is even better. My mood was a little off all weekend. I had never been to G.M. and wanted to feel and look handsome. I never let anyone else groom my beard. As soon as Madeline began my trust was beyond more then well placed. She had a good eye and artful way of crafting my beard and made me feel completely comfortable. I have had a number of haircuts with a number of barbers here, although Gillian is my regular, and I have received incredible care each time. I'll be honest, I don't know that much about hair and I feel confident in saying that the Average Joe doesn't either. With that in mind, I would recommend keeping things relatively vague when they ask what you would like. They all know hair very well and will work with your head shape, hair type, product preferences, etc. and allowing them to do what they think would be best is, quite frankly, the best. However, they also will work very closely to anything you have in mind. They care about their craft, they enjoy their work, and they know how to make a worthwhile experience. $25, which may seem steep for some, gets you a near-flawless haircut, a hot towel wrap (which, last time, was peppermint scented), a straight razor neck-shave, and a massage at the end. I highly recommend this establishment to anyone seeking a quality barber shop.

Better than some barbershops in the area, but not as good as others. I got some decent cuts here in the past. The barbershop doesn’t seem to have much of its own identity, and it attempts to copy a lot from a more a high end barbershop (from the style of answering reviews, it’s pricing, its instagram post style/aesthetic, and generally how the shop is run) without quite delivering on the quality or experience. I would like this shop a lot more if not for the blatant copying of another specific barbershop, which seems to actually backfire on GM. That being said, this is not the fault of most of the Barbers, and I’ve had some good experiences here.

Love the shop. My biggest pet peeve with barbers is when they're already cutting your hair before you finish saying what you want. Not the case here (at least with Terry, the only barber I'm able to speak about). I only go to see Terry, so I can only speak to his abilities, which are awesome. I tried having someone else cut my hair but they messed it up pretty badly. It was already a super close cut, but Terry was able I fix it and make it look not just better, but great. I'd recommend Terry, but I'm sure everyone there is skilled based on what I've seen. Plus it's a super chill and relaxed environment. I'd give 6 stars if I could.

Just moved into town and was looking for a good barber shop to go to. Was reading reviews on Google and noticed this one had the highest reviews. This barber shop is a classic for sure. Matt did an incredible job with my fade haircut and they also do straight razor neck shave at the end. I would definitely recommend them. The last barber shop that I used to go to cost about $45 for a haircut, and I think that they could charge that much here for what they do. But they only actually charge $20 per cut. If you're looking for a good classic barber definitely check this one out!

For me, It has been difficult finding a great barber here in Utah who actually cuts your hair how you want it to look and not their specific style. I booked online and Care was available for the time slot I selected. Hands down, my search is over. See you next time Care. Also, fun fact about this shop I learned from Care… female owned business for the past 10 years. The shop has women barbers and 1 male barber.
