I started getting my haircut by Serena a few months ago when I moved back to Portland and I couldn’t be happier! My hair has a few patches and needs someone who knows what they're doing. Serena took the time to understand the issue and pays close attention to detail. She is now the only person I’ll see in Portland. I would definitely recommend Rudy’s!

I had a very good experience with the crew at the Division Rudy's. I informed them that I had a hearing loss and they were so patient and accommodating. On top of that I hadn't had a haircut in almost 7 years, so with that in mind my stylist Amy took the time to work with me to find the right cut. I feel great with what she gave me and will continue to go see her. Also the price points are good.

Would rate higher, but the haircut was a bit expensive for the quality. Whoever runs the marketing and website needs a raise they did a phenomenal job. Dude was friendly but didn't really integrate my face shape or what I told him I wanted into the cut. It turned out alright, just not 60$ worthy.

I've been lucky enough to live near this great shop on southeast 30th and Division since it opened. Eric, my fave, takes the time to find out what kind of cut I want/need and then knocks it out in record time. The staff is super welcoming and the vibe is chill...all thanks to the excellent work of Serena, the highly experienced manager. She makes the place hum smoothly and keeps the focus on the customers. Trust me, visit this shop for the best haircut ever. When you're done, celebrate with all the incredible food options up and down Division street.

I don't usually write reviews, but this one is worth it. I'd like to call out Amy Henry for her excellent service and skills. I literally won't let anyone else cut my hair. I gladly drive to the other end of town each month (even though there are closer Rudy's) just to let Amy cut my hair. She's that magical. Also, the front desk folks are always completely wonderful, helpful, competent, etc. The vibes at this location are always good. 10/10

This review is for those of us that don't love haircuts. I am one of those types of people who is nervous my whole time in the chair until I see the final product (probably because I wear glasses) but I can't say enough how happy I am with my cut. Tessa M. totally clocked my nervousness and made me feel so comfortable, gave a more quiet experience, and at the end I actually gave a natural and happy "wow" when I saw my result. Yes, I typically get my cuts at Great Clips or Supercuts. Only recently did I realize that going to these shops was like flipping a coin, sometimes I’d get a decent cut, the next a terrible one. Stylists leave so frequently that you can hardly get any consistency. Family in Oregon recommended Rudy’s and now I’m upset that there isn’t a location in the Bay Area. I would drive out of my way to get a cut where the stylists care about your preferences and make recommendations based on everything down to the shape of your head! To top it off, they offer complementary rinses and shampooing. Will come back next time I’m in PDX.

I love this place. Before, I used to cut my hair fairly irregularly and only when I started to really hate how it looked on me and I never had a regular barber. Now, I go once a month or so because every single time, Atticus does a fantastic job. I have never been so consistent happy with my hair. Even after a few days without a shower and it's greasy, it still looks great. Atticus is so much fun to just talk to and hang out with and I look forward to it every single time. He responds so well to what I'm asking for, even if I don't know exactly how to describe what I wanted. I asked him for something that looks like young Winona Ryder from Heathers when she's covered in blood and he delivered. I said I don't like how my hair curls around my ears because it makes me look thirty years older on some days and he delivered. I highly recommend both Rudy's and Atticus, no regrets at all.

What can i say? Great place to get your hair cut. Great service, quick, pretty cheap comparatively speaking, and they always do an excellent job. I'm not normally big on idle small talk, making me sometimes loathe to go to the barber but the stylists are always good humans. The damage to my fragile psyche is kept to a minimum haha. Anyway.

I got my first professional haircut in 8 years! This place has been great since I was a kid and I introduced my boyfriend to them last year. They've taken great care of him! I decided to give it a try. I was a bit worried since I wear my hair naturally curly (I used to straighten it when I last went there) but my stylist Anita did such an amazing job. She knows how to cut wavy and curly hair and to use sillicone and sulfate free products! She gave me a major cut and was very sweet. I'm going back to her in a few months for sure. Every stylist and receptionist here is so nice too. Love the atmosphere and everything, it's why I came back after so long! I highly recommend anyone go here.

Granted I’m a male with shorter hair that gets a pretty straight forward classic cut. But I’ve had plenty of other barbers mess that up before finding Rudy’s.

Chelsea just gave me the most relaxing and immaculate barber experience I've ever had in my 30 years of having hair. She took her time and gave such great attention to detail that it is the sharpest fade I've ever gotten. And it was such a relaxing experience that I nearly fell asleep midway through! I would drive all the way from my home in Seattle just to have her cut my hair again next month. All the staff here are very kind and professional. Great place!

I booked a cut here because I was grossly overdue for a trim and my schedule conflicted completely with my usual spot. Never having been there before, I booked with any available barber for their latest available timeslot. I was seated with Norah, and she did a great job. I don't have any complaints about the service, or the setting. My only gripe is with the price. I get a very simple cut. Same thing every time. Fairly basic job for any barber, and it doesn't take much time and if my barber gets it right, I like to tip well. But when my service starts at $33 ($38 after a $5 surcharge during Covid) tipping $10 brings the damage to nearly $50 for a very basic haircut. At that point, I feel like I'm paying for more than just a haircut when all I need is a haircut. I'll keep this place in mind in an emergency, but I'll probably stick to my usual spot for the routine maintenance.

Edit: Rudy's has reached out to me about the issue. They were very friendly about the experience I had and I felt like they really wanted to help. I will definitely be back to try a different hair dresser, they seem like they have a cool team on hand! Thank you again! I was very excited to try this spot out especially after a friend recommend the saloon. Scheduled an appointment for Short Cut but was told that my ear length hair was going to be considered a Long Cut at the chair. Per the Rudy's website a Long Cut is "Cutting and shaping of shoulder length and longer or bob style. Includes shampoo and rough blow dry." I didn't even get a shampoo or blow dry. The hair dresser also continued to pull on my earrings throughout the cut, never asking if I should remove them.

i’ve gone here practically my whole life. the people are super friendly, and the barbers have never disappointment me. i changed up my hair slightly last time and i was amazed by it. i loved it. and now every day i try to get it looking how it did when i got it done haha! i definitely recommend this place.

Rudy's doesn't allow customers to bring in their own clippers, even if the clippers are professional level Wahl brand clippers. I've noticed that the salon stylist clippers are not cleaned adequately from customer to customer. I think not allowing customers to bring in their own clippers and cape is too inflexible considering the times in which we are living. For this reason, I am not going back to Rudy's. I've been a loyal customer there for over two years and I've always gone to Will. He's a great stylist and he's also super cool. But I just don't feel safe given how equipment is not cleaned and capes are not adequately cleaned and neck brushes are not cleaned either. It's too bad. I will miss going to Will for sure.

This barbershop has a great rock and roll vibe and a super friendly staff. Everyone I've met at Rudy's is super friendly, but I can't say enough good things about Geno! Geno has been cutting my hair for about three years now, and his attention to personal details is never less than amazing. Every time I'm in his chair I really feel like the only thing that matters to him is that I walk away looking my best. After a cut with Geno, I look great and feel like the world is a little more beautiful. He cuts with love!

I've been here a few times now and have had a good experience each time. The barbers are friendly, the space is cool, and the location is great. The wait for a cut has been minimal, if at all. The barbers quickly understand what I'm looking for and are able to cut well. Everyone I've seen coming out of there has been pretty happy. The two barbers that have cut my hair the most are Logan and Will. I highly recommend both of them. Will was so kind and helpful to me when I would walk to Rudy's in the summer and would be overheating. He gave me cool towels and treated me with such compassion throughout the whole haircut. On top of that he gives a great cut. Logan has been fun to talk to and nails the hard part with a straight blade. She has always been kind to me and my family when they have come in.

Rudy’s is a great place. Easygoing and you can walk in and get a great cut from anyone. Geno in particular is a gem! I have a super sensitive kiddo who has a very unique style, but struggles to describe what he wants. Geno works with him in a masterful way. He’s a sensitive soul who does much more than cut my sons (and now my) hair. I always walk away feeling seen and heard, and on top of that, I have a great haircut.

This review is for Geino, the best hair stylist I’ve EVER had, hands down. Unbelievable talent. He is a true artist. His color, his cut, his ideas for color and cut - dead on point. Every time. I am INCREDIBLY picky about my hair and basically always have noticed flaws with lesser hair stylists but with Geino I’m 100% happy - every time. Plus he is the absolute sweetest being. Go to him and you can thank me later!

Took my 1 and half year old son to his first haircut. It was bittersweet losing his curls but the experience was very welcoming and nice here. Genio did his haircut and gave him such a great care to him. I don't usually go to professionals to do haircuts because I usually do it myself. Taking a chance and reading the reviews of this place gave me hope and I was impressed with everyone that worked there. Everyone was welcoming. I would recommend this place and would come back in the future. I paid 29 dollars but it was worth it.

She used a technique to blond my hair that no beautician had ever used and cut my hair in a funky cute cut that still works even though I'm 57!!! Best cut and color ever!! Great personality, too. Rudy's is one of the best places to get hair done in Portland. After reading many recommendations and reviews, I brought my hair business to Rudy's about four years ago. I immediately was drawn in by the fun decor and laid back staff. There is always great music playing (I've learned about several great bands through Rudy's). Every single stylist I had was fantastic. Each one was friendly and incredibly talented. The one time I was unhappy with my bangs, they happily fixed it the next day. This is not just a place for hipsters: I've seen people of all ages and walks of life get their hair cut here. The prices are great for the services they offer. Yes. it is more expensive than Great Clips or Super Cuts, but this isn't that kind of salon. Rudy's is an upscale salon at a budget price! I cannot recommend Rudy's enough, it is worth the extra trip for me!

I'm not one to usually write reviews but rather read reviews and make my decisions based on general consensus. However after my experience at Rudy's Barbershop I feel compelled to share my experience. The shop is very spacious and comfortable, it is clean but not overly polished. This is a place that is authentic and every person that visits will feel safe being authentic without the need for pretense. My Cut was done by Eli and I voiced my concern that my fade shouldn't go too high. Usually after a haircut I'll look in the mirror and think I look like Bert from sesame street and i'll secretly dislike my look until it grows out. After my cut and wash, blow dry and styling (all included in the what I feel a very generous price) I felt a little like James Dean and it put a smile on my face. I also had a beard trim that was exactly to the description of what I asked for and afterwards I was given a straight razor lineup by Danielle. I usually get nervous with the idea of having a sharp blade anywhere near my face but I was treated to the most soothing experience and I left the shop feeling amazing as if I paid to have my soul rejuvenated and while I was there I also got a great haircut. Thank you for the experience.

Not disappointed at all, as soon as I walked in, the female barber closest to the door greeted me, and my barber properly introduced himself and LISTENED to what I wanted. Geino has been cutting my hair for two years now. My haircut is a very specific cut and his blade line ups are very precise. When I moved to the area I went through several barbers and hair salons searching for someone that can line up hair properly. Nora is the best barber I’ve ever had. I’m a 27 year old male and I normally get a blended fade haircut. She uses scissors and clippers to make everything absolutely perfect. She’s the first female barber I’ve ever had and she’s better than all the male barbers I’ve had in the past. Haha!

The staff at Rudy's makes your haircut experience a real treat! From the wonderfully decorated common areas to the roll up windows (perfect for a sunny afternoon haircut), they have perfected the art of comfort and service. I couldn't recommend this place more than I could recommend Geino in particular though. Geino is an absolute master of both hair styling and beard grooming and I could never see myself visiting any other barbershop for that reason. I've been a client of his for about 2-3 years now and I've always come away from my appointment with not only a stylish beard and haircut, but energized by his positivity and amazing care for his clients! If you're looking for a great straight razor shave look no further as his abilities are top-notch. The shave paired with some nice hot towel wraps are perfect for getting your neck perfectly smooth and cleaned! He clearly has mastered his craft after years of cutting hair and if you're looking for the last barber you will ever need, ask for Geino at Rudy's off of Division!

He listens to everything I say and he’s very attentive and wants to give you exactly what you want. His balayage skills are incredibly on point. INCREDIBLY on. point. The last time I saw him was just last week and I had a big idea, he let me send him my descriptions and pictures of different details I wanted. The idea was a collection of many separate ideas, and sure enough he created it right before my eyes. I am obsessed with my hair. He is also really great to talk to. He’s a super funny and friendly guy. He’s amazing at doing hair, and is genuinely really fun to be around. I always have such a great experience when I come here to get my hair done by Geinos. Pretty solid barber shop. I don't often get my hair cut but my stylist was good at listening to what I wanted and working with me. Not the best for budget cuts but reliable. Better for shorter styles, buzz cuts, and male styles which are also much cheaper than long hair.

Loved my barber but had to stop going after Rudy's raised their price yet again. Just didn't seem fair to take it out of her tip. I do hope she moves elsewhere so I can go back to her again! Until then there are many other great barbershops in PDX at the $25 price point.

I’v been going to Rudy’s on Division for about a year now and there’s only one person I go to and his name is Geino! A haircut with Geino is more than just a haircut, it’s a whole damn experience! Every time I walk in he is always welcoming and makes an effort to understand my needs and expectations. I have never come accross someone so passionate, charismatic, and dedicated to making sure your experience in his chair is one to remember. Between the, crocodile, crystals, and the best hot towel shave I’ve ever had, there is no way you should pass up the opportunity to work with Geino! Try him out and you’ll! Thank you Geino! Calm as a Tornado

Most of the cuts look great, one stylist and one person at the counter offered the strangest technique I've ever witnessed as far as customer service is concerned, apparently belittling people and blaming them for a not very professional cut is ok here? It was disappointing after witnessing several people receive amazing cuts to be the only ones leaving with the exact haircut you would receive at supercuts which was not even and did not look good which was pointed out and one small section fixed in anger but the rest was too mangled to fix. I would recommend watching other cuts before deciding who is cutting your hair here. I finally decided to write a review after finding out someone else I know had the same experience with the same stylist here, I fixed it for them. Very unfortunate that they have not been told how inappropriate it is to act that way to paying customers, they could get a lot more business if this one person would stop the ego trip and realize they should do a better job. We found another shop and have had no issues so far.

We love our barber Genios! The entire family looks forward to our appointments! He does amazing artistic side cuts and shaves. My kids adore him. I have three teenagers and they refuse to go anywhere else but Rudy’s on Division and they ask for Genois every time. My husband looks absolutely amazing when he comes out of his appointments with Genios. I kid him and tell him his hair is total “stork bait” when he comes out. I get butterflies in my stomach because he looks and smells so handsome. He looks forward to his hair appointment because Genois isn’t just a barber, he is a friend and they always have interesting insightful conversations. Genois does a hot towel wrap for men’s beards that absolutely melts my husband, weeks of hard work and stress disappear after time in his chair at Rudies! His hair looks great, he is relaxed and he feels likes he’s been visiting with an old friend for an hour. We all do! My kids ask for Genois by name and are willing to wait if it means getting to sit in his chair. He is a true artist. My favorite treat is having him shave designs into an under shave. I just ask him to do what ever he is inspired to-and I get insane complements from other customers waiting in the shop. He takes time to get to know you and sometimes you get a bonus picture for his Instagram- that makes you feel really special. He is an amazing barber and everyone at Rudy’s on Division welcomes you like family. I love playing with the retro games while we wait or stopping in the Kava shop next door while the kids get their cuts. I’d give more stars if possible! Don’t wait, make an appointment because you will love them too.

I have been going to Geino at Rudys on Division for a year and a half, almost two. I’ve gone to see two other people besides Geino during that time due to scheduling conflicts and I left disappointed. I get a hot towel shave and a trim on top every time I go in to a shop. I’ve learned that if I don’t go to Geino, May the Goddess forbid, that I have to be careful in my comparison of the new person to Geino because I will always walk out disappointed. Geino’s eye for a look that brings out a righteous sense of self confidence leaves you feeling refreshed and revitalized every time you walk out of that chair.
