I'm new to the area and was looking for a place to get a quality men's haircut (not always easiest thing to do). Found this place and of course was a bit skeptical of 150+ reviews all but two being 5 stars. Decided to just go for it since there was a same day spot available. Gotta say I'm super impressed. The workers here clearly know their craft and do the utmost to make sure you get exactly what you want. They also have a cheaper "cleanup cut" that they do to keep everything looking great. Something I'll keep in mind in the weeks to come. 5 stars well deserved. Fair price for the quality. I'll be back for sure.

First time getting my haircut since moving out west in the beginning of June. I was worried I wouldn’t find the right place to get my hair cut since I’m fussy about it. My hair was very long and in need of a cut, and Michael Alton was the man I booked my appointment with. He is welcoming, funny and good at making conversation while cutting hair. I couldn’t be happier with my haircut, and I am definitely going to return! Michael is the man, no doubt.

I was visiting from Philadelphia and needed a haircut for a wedding the next week. I saw the hundreds of 5 star reviews on Yelp and google and decided to give it a shot. It is no hyperbole when I state that this is the best haircut I have ever had. Michael’s attention to detail is unparalleled. Truly an amazing fade, that meets it end at a flawless straight edge shave. The top of my hair is left long and I’ve struggled with making it look contiguous from different angles. Michael made a cohesive look from any angle my hair is observed. I’m sincerely blown away.

Edit: I had a less than perfect haircut but was almost immediately followed-up with an exceptionally thoughtful voicemail from the owner himself offering to make it right and fully refund the cut. Miscommunications happen, and sometimes a less-than-perfect haircut is unavoidable. But what is within a business' control is how they respond to a client's concerns and feedback. I can't say enough good things about Jason, not only as a stylist but as a person. Jason has an obvious talent for hair, and he instinctively knows the type of cut to best complement your facial features. He's one of the only stylist I've gone to for a first time visit, who actually nailed the look I wanted without requiring multiple visits of trial and error. Outside of his ability as a stylist, Jason is extremely professional, courteous and friendly. His prices are very reasonable and the ability to book your appointment online, and avoid waiting as a walk in makes getting a hair cut a much more convenient experience. I've been going here for my monthly cut since I found the place back in August, and as long as Jason is around I won't be getting my hair cut anywhere else.

It's rare that any establishment in google or other review sites gets a perfect rating after more than 10 reviews. Metro man does and after my 1st visit I now know why. I met the owner and had my haircut by Levi and it was the best haircut experience I've ever had. This is a place where skill is matched by a willingness to listen to what the customer really wants. Communication is very clear and there are no gray areas between what I wanted and what the barber was about to do. This place is well worth the $30 dollar haircut.

I wanted to move away from the mediocre cuts I was getting at the usual chains and picked this spot after reading the reviews; I made the right choice. Jason has that suave type of vibe and that's the type of person you want cutting your hair because I believe the personality of the hair stylist shows in their work. There's something about his cuts that differ from the others I've been to. When my hair grows out, it's still easy to style and it still looks well kept after 8 weeks; my hair just falls into place. The only way that I can make sense of it are trade secrets and decades of experience fine-tuning his craft. I requested a change in my hair style the second time I went and he executed it effortlessly without missing a beat. Note: It's worth paying more for cuts that still look good at 6-8 weeks than paying for 2 cuts every 3-4 weeks.

Jason Rostami is the most professional and skilled barber/stylist I have ever been to. He is a "Master Barber" to say the very least. I came across the Metroman Hair Salon and Jason over a year ago back when I lived in Portland, I now live in Vancouver WA (across the river) and continue to make the drive to Jason when I am in need of a fresh cut! (45min drive for me now) even though there are much closer options. If that doesn't tell you how good of a place/stylist Jason is....I'm not sure what will. I get offered a drink ever time I come in at no charge. Jason listens to what you want done and gets to know you personally to really understand what type of cut you are looking for. Also takes notes to remember what you liked/didn't like for the next time you come in. If you are looking for a new place to get a haircut, look no further.

I’ve been going here for haircuts since about the time they opened 3-4 years ago. The quality has never changed and neither has the experience, and it’s been great watching them expand from 1 owner by himself to having 4 now. They may not be in a fancy space with vintage barber gear but they will give you a great haircut or shave. Fair warning: this place is far more expensive than Great Clips but you’re paying for someone who is basically a craftsman with hair.

Hands down my favorite place for a hair cut in Portland. I really appreciate the ability to make an appointment online, so many places are walk-in only and you never know if you will have to wait for an hour before you make it to the chair. Jason is also the most knowledgeable barber I have ever been to, his 15+ years of experience really shows. He was able to come up with a plan to make me look good after I gave him a vague and probably unhelpful description of what I was looking for. He then takes notes on what we did so that when I come in the next time I can just say do the same thing and he knows exactly what I want. I have been a regular with Jason now for about 2 years [read my yelp review about how my girlfriend stopped stabbing me]. Every time he is attentive and obsessively meticulous to make sure that there are no stray untrimmed hairs when he does his final styling. I get so many compliments now and girls hitting on me it is out of control. The other day my girlfriend attacked two ladies who kept winking in my direction and got us thrown out of Dorsia... I had to do a lot of things to get a reservation there! Now I am back to getting stabbed because my hair is too attractive. Sigh... My brother is also a huge huge fan of his haircut. he has super long thick silky hair and jason dealt with it masterfully. What to say about Jason at MetroMan… He is by far one of the most professional, down to earth, talented guys I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting. First and foremost, he’s great at what he does – cutting hair, trimming beards, and giving sweet, close shaves.
