INSANE!!! i’ve been to 5 different places to achieve that perfect platinum blonde. My hair had been super botched from other stylists who failed to give me the proper coloring, treatment and services. However, after making an appointment with Sue, I’ve finally gotten the color i’ve been wanting for so long!!! She is honestly the best. Super personable, careful and actually listens to what you need and want! She also taught me many tips and tricks on how to keep my hair perfect and healthy. Sue is wonderful and 100% will recommend to anyone I know. The best part is that I was able to schedule an appointment with her THE NEXT MORNING!! For a full root and color treatment!! Never have I been able to make a hair coloring appointment that soon before. Prices were super affordable, and appointments we very flexible. Also, the staff was so friendly and make you feel like family. Will definitely be making this my go-to place. Thank you!!!

The place might not pass the eye test on the outside. But once you step in, it’s a great set up & popular because of the professionalism within it. I tried out the place yesterday because supercuts kept messing up my hair. Sonia gave me the best cut I’ve had since I moved here 3 years ago. I felt compelled to give the biggest tip I’ve ever given for a haircut, because of the amount of time she spent, detailing my hair. Highly recommended.

Called around noonish to make an appointment, was in the chair for a haircut and beard trim later that day at 5:30. Sonia took her time, did an excellent job, was close to being a perfectionist (like me!), and was very friendly, chatty, and personable. Nice price too! I will definitely be back.

Great place to get your hair cut for men, women and kids. This place is always clean and the people who work here are always pleasant and friendly. I would recommend Sue and the owner Joe to get your hair cut. I just got my son's (My son is 14 months old) hair cut last week and he looks so adorable. Joe did such a great job. Their prices are very reasonable too. My boyfriend and I travel all the way from Northeast Philly just to get our hair cut here cause we like how they cut hair. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking to get their hair done or just a simple hair cut.

One of the best local barbershops in the philly area. I was pleased with the professionalism, atmosphere, and the result of the service that Brian provided. I have several close friends who spoke highly of the other barbers Joe, Matt, and Sue. I moved to the area last fall and am very particular with my appearance since I have african american hair. Brian exceeded all of my expectations and gave me an awesome experience at this barbershop!

My son has been going to Joe's for a few years now and loves the place. I have been bringing my grandsons for the past 6 months, they don't sit still all the time. Last night Brian cut their hair, besides doing an amazing job on both of them he had the patience of a Saint and calmly refocused them to stay still and got the job done. His detail to each of their styles were phenomenal!! Best place around!! Kudos to Joe's Throwbacks!!

For the same price as chain barber shops, if not cheaper, I received a better haircut from someone (Sue) who clearly cared about her job and delivering quality work! Everyone was super friendly, as well. Highly recommend and I will continue going back!

Anytime I went to Joe’s I got a great hair cut. This time I took my 18 month old son, Joe there. Sue was great with him. Only second haircut and Joe (not barber Joe) didn’t cry once. I’m sure they’re all great with kids but recommend Sue based off our experience. Joe is one of the nicest and most professional people I’ve met and awesome to be around.

Always get a great haircut here. I have always gone to Joe, the owner, so I can't speak on the other barbers. Joe has been cutting hair forever and can do any style you prefer. It's nice to be able to make an appointment and sit right down as soon as I walk in. I used to wait over an hour when I was going to another shop that doesn't take appointments, which was frustrating. Overall, this place is awesome, everyone is nice, and Joe gives some proper haircuts.

I’ve been going to Throwback Joe’s since The beginning of 2021. I recommend sitting at Brian or Matts chair, they are true professionals and provide great service in a clean atmosphere. Every experience I had there I left with a good haircut for a fair price.

I have been going to Joe for a few years now and have always been very happy with his haircuts. Joe is extremely professional, friendly and courteous. If he is running a few minutes late, which is very rare, he will shoot me a text to let me know he is running behind which I really appreciate. The barbershop also has a very friendly atmosphere and Joe makes everyone feel welcomed from steady customers to first time walk-ins. Overall a great shop and highly recommended.

Joe was some how able to get me in same day for an appointment on a busy Friday. I sat down in Jarred’s chair and have never been more satisfied with a cut. More than fairly priced compared to most other spots in the neighborhood. No frills old-school barbering with modern abilities. Straight razor finish. Nice people, neighborhood clientele. I will definitely return.

Been coming here for a while. Got my hair cut by both Joe and Ben and I gotta say they are the best in the area. Never left with a bad haircut. Joe listens to what u want and proceed to deliver the best result. And hes a cool fun guy to talk to. Ben is more quiet but his cutting skill is top notch. Dont think I'll be going anywhere else for my haircut

Two weeks ago I had my seven groomsmen and myself stop by in the morning for haircuts and shaves prior to my wedding. Joe blocked off a three hour time slot for us to kick back and relax. He even provided coffee and breakfast for all of us. Everyone loved the experience and mentioned to me it great idea after we left. Between the service, price, and experience it made my day even more special. Joe is the man!

My boys have been going there for over 2 years. We are Latino and their hair is thick. You wouldn't expect a barber in roxborough to know how to cut their hair but every barber there has! First time here and I think I've found my barber. As soon as I walked in the door, Joe greeted me and shook my hand(even though he was in the middle of a cut). The 2 chairs were currently occupied so I took my seat in the clean space to wait my turn. Joe had made it a very welcoming atmosphere. My turn was up and I took my place at the second chair. I am terrible with names and can't remember the barbers name(I know, I'm a horrible person). I was very vague with directions, but he knocked it out of the park. Joe, on the other hand, is great with names and knows everybody who comes in and calls. Price is outstanding. Overall, it's a great value. I will definitely be returning.

First time at Joe's, recommended by a friend, and it was a great experience. Joe is a real nice guy who greeted me as soon as I walked in the door. I've been getting a combover with a fade on the sides for several years and this is arguably the best cut I've had. He takes his time and makes sure he know what you want, and then cuts exactly that. Highly recommend!

We love it here, my son has been going there since he 5 years old, he only wants to go here, we tried other places they were not good. My husband goes here now too, that i had my son going there. Joe, Matt, Brian know what they are doing and they are very personable, no need to go anywhere else, love it here. The shop was just redone, we miss the tvs though.

That was more than a year ago and still getting superb cuts. The guys actually listen to you when you tell them what you want and once they get to know you the cuts get better.

To get to the point... GO HERE FOR A HAIRCUT. Joe's quality and level of service is unmatched in the city. And I hate to say it, but, he could be charging a lot more which is why I drive out of Center City/Northern Liberties to visit Joe for a cut.
