Got a haircut, beard trim, and a great steam towel from Brad this past Saturday 1/13. Just a great experience. Starting with the shop itself, what a great experience. I love the Universal Monsters on the walls, as I"m a huge fan of those flicks. The music playing in the shop is great also. Gals and guys just cutting hair, everyone doing their thing, a totally relaxed experience. I could spend all day at the shop just absorbing the environment. Love it. Brad took great care of me, had a great conversation without being overly chatty. My wife loves my cut, she told me it makes me look younger, she's never said anything like that about previous hair cuts. Brad, you're my guy! Surly Chap was an internet find for me, I needed a new barber, and damn did I strike gold with this shop. Now how do I rate more than 5 stars here?

Today was my first visit and one thing is for sure: I truly regret waiting so long to try them. My cut was pretty simple today and just a clean up, but Drew did an outstanding job, didn't rush and delivered exactly what I wanted. I also went for a shave and that was the most rewarding part of my visit. I've traveled all over the country and had some great shaves in other cities (San. Fran., New York, Boston, Dallas, Vegas) but have never found anyone in Omaha that comes close to what I have experienced. I can say that no longer, as Drew gives a fantastic shave with the full relaxing experience! Prices are good and the atmosphere is great as well. I will definitely be a regular based on this first visit.

Appointment only, so you don't have to worry about a wait, and it's super easy to book online. I usually go to Lew or Drew, and walk out with a great cut, but you probably won't be disappointed by anyone here. I bounced around for a while until I found this place. The combination of the atmosphere and service kept me around. Unfortunately, they realized how much their customers like the place and jacked the price up to $27 for a cut now that they book out so easily. Being a student, I might shop around a bit, but I know where I can count on a good cut.

I enjoy this place as I have always gotten a good haircut and shave. The barbers here are all very friendly and seem to all know how to give you exactly what you had in your minds eye. I've received a nice razer taper and a regular haircut. I love a good fade to my side burns and beard. The products they offer work well and smell wonderful. Nothing is as relaxing as a good straight razor shave. The environment is open and the cashier is very friendly. I even received a complementary free comb when I made the bold move of changing up my hair style and buying some product to keep the hold. Make your appointment today they will not disappoint.

Have been going to Lauren for almost 2 years and have enjoyed every cut, beard trim, and razor line up she has given me. I would highly suggest her! I have also been going long enough to know every single barber in there cares about their work so you won’t be disappointed with whoever you pick. It’s by appointment only and spots fill up fast. I love this as I go once a week so I never have to wait. Some might disagree, but with how popular this place is they need appointments otherwise you would be waiting forever. The prices fit for the services offered, but if you have been going to a great clips your whole life you really won’t understand unless you actually go and experience it. Last thing, TIP YOUR BARBER!

The service is incredible. You have to book online in advance, especially if you want a specific barber. That fact, however, helps to ensure that your preferred barber will be available when you are. Every haircut I have gotten here is clean, comfortable, and professional. Not a huge amount of available parking directly out front, so give yourself some time to park and walk to the business. I recommend this place to everyone, men and women.

Needed a beard trim and had never really gotten a good one. Love that they do online appointment booking. Alana was FANTASTIC. Listened and was attentive to my "beard goals" and offered her own suggestions. Very focused on the fine details. Excellent with a straight razor. Walked out looking good but feeling even better. Came for an early apt, was in and out within 30 min. Everyone was wearing masks and being diligent about covid and the various measures needed which was very reassuring. The cut itself was great, did a fantastic job and was attentive to detail. I'll be back and recommending them whenever I can.

Absolutely the best shop hands down, from the atmosphere, price, and quality of work. You cannot beat this shop. The appointment scheduling is way easier than some other shops in town that are first come first serve. You can book the whole shop for a private event such as getting all of your groomsmen cleaned up at once .

I was looking for someplace to clean up my beard and was suggested to try these guys. Appointments are easy to schedule online, the staff is fantastic and friendly, I had Andrey and he did a great job working on my beard and lining it up how I wanted and making it more presentable. The straight razor lined it up amazingly I will definitely be going back!

I've been going here since about before they were in Blackstone and had appointment options. Even back then I was willing to wait a couple of hours because the cuts Drew gave were so excellent and he's an awesome dude, but the new location and appointment feature makes this place even better. As far as barbers go, most everyone is familiar with the speedy once over with a pair of electric clippers, you might see a pair of scissors if you ask specifically, and you'll never find a straight razor shave. Not so with the Surly Chap. These guys are dedicated to their craft and it shows, they take time to get that perfect look. Shout out to Richard for doing an amazing job. The best men's haircut in Omaha, bar none.

I’ve been going to Brad 4 times now so I think I’m qualified to give my review. Absolutely amazing haircut and beard trim I’ve ever had. I recently retired from the Army of 20 years so I always had my hair high and tight for every Monday formation. Now that I’m retired I can finally have a beard and grow my hair out a bit but still like to keep it skin up to a taper. Brad perfectly does this with his fade even on my beard. It’s taken me awhile to find a barber like this and now that I have I will never go to anyone else!!! Thanks so much!

I love small business. Especially when it is family owned. I am new to the area and heard great things about this shop. When I sat down I was asked the usual questions about what I wanted etc. In about 10 minutes I was done and when I looked in the mirror I asked if there was any way the top could be cut, because literally not a hair had been cut up there, and I was told no and sent on my way. I am a sarcastic person and by nature I thought the barber was joking but before I knew it the barber was gone to the back room and I was left standing there wondering what had just happened. I had really long hair on top and a mediocre fade on the side. Looked real goofy. Maybe the barber was having a bad day, I don't know, but I ended up leaving and getting another haircut somewhere else to fix it. It's not a perfect science and everyone is looking at it different, but my review is more about the overall service or lack there of by the barber when I was told that I couldn't get more taken off the top.
