I've been living in NYC for almost 9 years now and have been through my fair share of barbers trying to find people who can cut Asian hair. I'm really grateful to have found Elegant G. Every one of the barbers here is incredibly attentive and skilled at their craft. I am always getting compliments from my friends and asked where I get my cuts! Also, their rates are competitively priced for NYC given the high quality of their service. Reservations are handy but walk-ins also accepted! Could not recommend more.

Easily the best haircuts in new york. I’m incredibly picky when it comes to my hair and this place cuts it to perfection every single time. Sam is an absolute killer and pays extreme attention to detail. The rest of the barbers are all great as well, had a fantastic cut from Alex before.

Sam and team are the most consistent and high quality stylists for haircuts and trims. I've moved all over the city from UES, Fidi, Jersey City, and LES and still go to Elegant G every month. As a Korean, I have Asian hair that most barbers don't style and cut quite right, but Sam always understands what I'm looking for. He also checks the various angles and each cut in detail to ensure quality is high. Regardless of the day or time, they've always been meticulous. I'd highly recommend for anyone looking for their go-to barber.

Love this place I travel from Brooklyn to here because a gentleman by the name of Stas works there and I been going to him for awhile even before he worked at this place. He does a perfect job every time and makes me feel comfortable and relaxed. There’s also usually parking on the block which is rare in the city. Inside is very clean and professional. I highly recommend Stas I been to a lot of barbers but no one cuts hair as good as him. Super down to earth guy you won’t regret going there. Never felt rushed he always pays attention to detail and takes his time. He does a great beard shape up as well! Trust me go to him and you’ll feel confident you got the best haircut around anyone.

I first started coming to Elegant G in the summer or 2018 when I moved to NYC for an internship. I was looking for a barber who specialized in cutting Asian hair and saw that Sam (the owner) was highly recommended. Sam hasn’t disappointed in the 3 years I’ve been coming to him. He is extremely consistent and will also listen to what you want. If you’re unsure, he is happy to give recommendations. I am very happy with the quality of Sam’s cuts, and I think the price is well worth it. Honestly, Sam could be charging a lot more than he does now. He is also just a really nice, personable human being. I highly recommend him, especially if you’re looking for someone who is good with Asian hair.

I've been coming to Elegant G for a few months now. I've tried a number of barbershops across the city ranging from $20 - $50 per haircut and finally settled on this place. Haircuts are ~$30 before tip and I feel like the quality is on par with haircuts I've gotten for over $50. I've had good experiences with most of the barbers but Sam in particular is great! I have been paying way too much money, for way too long, for a haircut in NYC that was just fine...until I found Elegant G barber shop! You get as much attention and detail to your needs as the other pricier barber shops. Sam is my go to barber. The only place in NYC where I've had a good experience thus far with barbers who know how to cut Asian hair. Most of the time, I've tried other "highly" rated barbers who have made a mess of my cut because they don't know how to cut asian hair. This is the one place I've found thus far that does my hair on point, every time. They unfortunately do not take appointments (walk ins only), but I've yet to have had a bad experience with any of the barbers on duty that day. Pop by when you have time (weekdays are less crowded) and I am pretty sure you won't be disappointed. (Men's standard haircut are around $28 for reference)

I've been coming to Sam's shop for the last 5 years, starting only a couple months after he first opened. In fact, I've lived in Manhattan for 10+ years, and this is the only shop I've come back to even after every time I've moved. In the past I've usually waited for Sam, but he personally knows and hires most of his team, and I've never had an issue with any of his barbers. His team, like him, is mostly Asians from Eastern Europe. Given that, I've found that they're probably one of the best in the city at working with thick Asian hair. Although I've rarely had a problem, especially after the first 1-2 trips with the same barber, if you voice your concern in the seat they (and Sam personally) will make sure you leave happy.

Can say that Sam really runs a great shop in making sure the barbers that work there know what they’re doing, have attention to detail and provide great service. Oh my goodness! This barbershop was awesome. Professional, friendly, diverse, and skillful. I was worried about allowing them to cut my sons hair as we are African American and none of the barbers were African American. I was concerned that they would not be familiar with his hair type. We came to New York from Vienna and decided to check out local Barber Shops. At first we thought the service was very quick, but we were pleasantly surprised that the quality of the haircut was also very good. In Austria, where women are not even allowed to come in to the Barber Shops, in Elegant Barber Shop you can not only walk in with your boyfriend, you can take a shot of whiskey and have a good time. My boyfriend had another haircut before we left, because the price is definitely cheaper than in Europe and the service is quick and excellent at the same time. It was definitely a good, positive experience, and if we are ever back in New York, we will definitely come back, hopefully with the same boyfriend;)

Been coming here for around 2.5 years and the quality has only gotten better. If you go for a cut, it's best if you have an idea of what you want, (name of style, how short you want the sides/back...) even better if you can bring pictures. If you don't have an idea, the barbers here can guide you. The barbers are all really friendly and will generally engage with customers, but can also tell if you're the type that doesn't really want to chat, and they'll just focus on the job at hand. If you want a place that offers quick yet precise and stylish cuts, this is the place. Also: Great for Asian hair. It's hard to find barbers (outside of Chinatown) that know how to deal with Asian hair.

I've been coming to Elegant Barber shop since I first found them in 2014-2015. These guys are masters at their craft - specifically Vitali and Sam (the shop owner/manager). Never had a bad cut here, never had a bad experience. Last year I relocated my office from 23rd and Park to downtown Brooklyn - and I still travel out to these guys shop on 28th to get my hair cut. Cuts are around $25 bucks. They are located close to some big business/finance/bank offices and so it can get a little busy in their shop in the evenings after work - especially towards the end of the work week. The quality and attention to detail of their work is unmatched.

Elegant G is the BEST barber in NYC. Trust me. I have that kind of flyaway hair that takes an expert touch to sculpt and tame, and these guys have NEVER done me wrong. I live in Los Angeles and I literally fly to NYC to get my hair done here for important things like interviews, weddings, and outings to places I might see my ex. I'm seriously not kidding, these guys are worth a 5.5 hour, 3000 mile plane ride to see. You don't need to worry about who you get, just walk in, sign in on the tablet, sit down for 2.38 seconds and get your hair cut by a freaking hair ninja. Not chatty? Great! You won't even have time to tell the barber about your day with how fast these guys will shear you. Super hairy? No problem! My middle eastern husband gets done even quicker than me. Even though a trip to Elegant G is EASILY worth your first born child (I mean who needs kids anyway??), they only charge 25 freaking dollars for a men's cut (make sure you leave a fat tip -- they WILL earn it). $20 for a buzz if you're into that kind of thing. I don't even drink but they have whiskey and beer on hand! BEST PART FOR NYERS: This place has a bathroom. 'Nuf said. All in all, I'm the pickiest person with hair on the planet and when I walk in to a new barber and say "high and tight, three on the sides, 2/5 part left side, natural neckline, like I just walked out of 1943," I expect that to be understood. These guys don't even flinch. Just freaking go already, geesh.
