You have to be very specific on your first visit, or if you change the person who cut your hair. Other than that it's great, they cut your hair, then they give you a shampoo, and take you back to your chair finish out your final cut and then put product on your hair if you wish it. I highly recommend them!

I have been going here for a while and getting my hair cut by Jordan. He is the best to work with as he listens to what you are looking for and comes through each and every time. Always a good selection of whiskey, beer and other drink to have while getting your hair cut. I would and have recommended Varnished Gentleman to everyone I know.

Always go to see Jess Stanford. This atmosphere is excellent. I appreciate the deep sense of professionalism that all employees bring to their work. Everyone is friendly, the chairs are comfortable, the cut is awesome, and the free drink doesn’t hurt. Prices are worth it, especially for the beard trim!

I've been getting my hair cut and beard trimmed here for a few years now. It's a fun environment, and the barbers all know what they are doing. A bit more expensive than many of the chain places, but the environment, treatment, skill, and flexibility in scheduling (along with a beer or whiskey), make it worth it.

Few places still do a good gentleman's shave right. After trying chains and other barbershops, Varnished has been always somewhere that does it well. Highly recommend this location for anyone who wants a good shave or haircut (beards included again once this pandemic is resolved)

1 word of warning- go early if you don’t have an appointment! This place gets busy and for good reason. I was the first person inside and got VIP treatment. They have a Keurig that I was able to use while I waited and they also serve alcohol on request. My haircut was great and very quick and clean. Straight razor on back of the neck and a rinse/shampoo is included as well. Prices are higher than your average chain barber, but well worth it!

Let's be honest - the whole "whiskey and *gentlemen* and straight razors" thing is... Well, it's an eye-roller for me. But the bottom line is the service here is just great. I got an appointment at very short notice, with a barber who quickly assessed what I actually wanted, gave me exactly that, and then had good tips for upkeep and styling to accomplish more of what I wanted. Really, who could ask for anything more? I can put up with a theme if the end result is a great haircut at a good price.

This is the best barbershop around town, by far. Very traditional barber setting, as you are offered a drink when you walk in. It has that classic vibe, like getting a haircut is a special event and quick getaway for guys where we can relax. I don't trust anyone to cut my hair besides Chelsea Hale. However, I have seen the other barber's work here as well, and they are all great. I won't go anywhere else anymore for a haircut.

This is my favorite barber shop in NH. They are open all day and into the afternoon and they make appointment s so you won't have to wait half a day just to get a hair cut. It's also nice they are open most days of the week. Great experience and don't think I could go anywhere else.

I have never been as happy with a haircut as I have at Varnished (the photo of me us not a representation of their work and this predates them by years). I have Miquela for a barber and she is extremely detail oriented and you can see the concentration on her face while she decides what she is going to do to hide ae crazy cowlicks on the back of my head. The first time I went she spent 45 minutes on my beard, fade and eyebrows. I will be a lifelong customer. I don't drink, but they serve alcohol with your haircut if you want that. The atmosphere is oriented towards men and most of my coworkers also go here.

When you walk in to Varnished, you'll be treated well from the moment you walk in the door. You'll walk out looking fantastic. Their shave services are great - you can choose from a simple hot towel shave, or go for a "spa" shave, where you'll first receive a thorough facial-scrub, an exfoliation treatment, a treatment to open up your pores, and hot towels throughout the preparation. Your face will be thoroughly prepared for a good shave from a trained professional. Then, another face-wash, a treatment to close your pores back up, and a refreshing cold-towel to finish you off. You'll leave looking great, feeling refreshed, and your facial skin will be nice and healthy. I wish I could offer more than five stars, because Varnished is worth many more than five stars.
