Joey has consistently given me the best haircuts of my life. He listens, cares, dishes out great hair advice, and really talks you through the cut. He also does a fantastic job of teaching you what to do with your hair to recreate the style when you are home. Also, his beard fades and shaved are top notch. Joey has truly given me the grooming experience I have been looking for my whole life. I won’t go to anyone else. I just won’t do it.

Really nice barber shop. Kyndel did a really good job on my cut. She was professional and going into it asked me before she started and checking up once she cut what we agreed. I’ve been to many Barbers and this is by far my favorite I’ve ever been to. They are a bit pricy when compared to great clips or Supercuts, but the service you get is worth it. You’re not just a name on a list, you’re their client, and they treat you and your hair as such. The atmosphere is fun and lighthearted, and they don’t pressure you to hold a conversation if you’re not feeling talkative. I’ve had two haircuts from here so far and plan on coming back for my next haircut and most likely many more after that! I recommend scheduling an appointment on their website to not only ensure immediate service but you can also add notes to tell them what you’re looking for before even going in! Highly recommend! 10 out of 5 stars!

This is my 4th and unfortunately final haircut with Cody. Cody was awesome with every haircut. His fades are pristine. The second time I came in, he already remembered what I wanted, which never happened before. Clean area, takes his times. Best barber I’ve been to. Sucks I’m moving. It’s hard to find a good barber nowadays. 10/10 would recommend again and again

Black Orchid was the first barbershop I found after moving to the area two years ago and I have been pleasantly impressed by the quality of service they have continued to give each and every visit. The very rare times an appointment of mine has had to have been changed to another date or barber, the staff has gone above and beyond to make sure my experience has been a good one. This has been the first shop I’ve visited where the owner has personally reached out to follow up on schedule changes to ensure a satisfactory cut/visit. The entire team comes highly recommended!

I’ve mainly been a Great Clips type person most of my life. I’ve been trying to clean up my look and came to Black Orchid looking for help with a pretty radical hair style and a beard I’ve never let grow out before. I booked the appointment incorrectly online but they were still really accommodating. I was able to get the haircut and beard trim with Joey Sparks. He really took his time clarifying what I was looking for, checking on progress and giving advice on how to maintain my hair and beard. He didn’t try to upset me on anything but advised me on products he recommends and why. It was definitely the best haircut I’ve ever gotten and I got really helpful advice on how to keep my hair and beard healthier and achieve the look I was going for. This will be the only place I go to get my haircut from now on. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Tanner, along with the other guys that were working that day, was not only a good conversationalist, but hilarious as well! I have been going to Jason and his team at Black Orchid Barbers for over 3 years now and it is hands-down the best barbershop in Indy. I have never had a problem with the team running late on their appointments, and always feel as though I am getting the proper attention during my time there. The team does takes pride in their work and truly takes their time with each and every client; I have never felt rushed during an appointment. Black Orchid is the definition of "you get what you pay for" and their prices are very reasonable for the attention to detail and personalized service you get as a client. They usually require booking in advance online, but don't let that sway you--you want your barber to be busy! Keep up the great work, team!

All the barbers are super welcoming when you walk in. The environment couldn’t be friendlier. I have been seeing Tanner at the downtown location for going on 3 years and have never left dissatisfied. Admittedly i wish the cost of the haircut was a little lower but the quality always justifies it easily. All genders are welcome so if you’re looking for a new place to get the mop chopped, this is the one for you no doubt.

Brenden did a great job. I normally have my hair cut by a different barber who I have seen for years. But he was booked for the next three weeks and I needed to get my haircut soon for an upcoming interview. I showed Brenden the hairstyle I liked and he delivered. I'm usually pretty vague on what I want. I entrusted Brenden full artistic barber license and I am glad I did. He's got talent. He also recommended one of their products for my super dry hair, the leave in conditioner, which has been doing wonders for it. Very clean and good looking building and the mass ave location is very easily accessible too. Would definitely recommend going to cody or probably any of the other barbers employed by black orchid.

Then last year at the Yelp event Drew approached me and told me a bit about Black Orchid and I was like “well why not”. Went in for a haircut and never looked back. When booking, there was no address when booking. Just says downtown. When I went to my appt down town, when I thought I was at the normal place I saw that they moved. Unaware of this, I call and tell them the situation and they said to go ahead and come. I get there 12 late due to several events downtown and absolutely terrible parking, told my situation and felt like no one cared or listened. Will not be going back. Didn’t feel heard. Owner reached out, was very considerate. Still didn’t have the greatest experience overall but owner helped improve it some.

I had not cut my hair for over 9 months as I was trying to grow it out for the first time in my life ( I’m 40yrs old), but decided I wanted to go back to a short style. I was in town for business and looked up the barber shops around my hotel with good reviews and went for it. The shop had a great friendly and layed back vibe and all the patrons were cool to talk to while we waited. I had an appointment with Dani and was not sure exactly what I wanted for a final style. I gave her a general idea and she delivered on the final hair style and beard trim, as well as being very personable.
