I've been going to Jay's for about 6 months now and it's been a great haircut every single time. Ralph has been my guy since I started and I've never had any reason not to keep coming back to him. Ralph has given me the best haircut I've ever had and he's consistent every time. Ralph doesn't ever make me feel he's rushing my haircut and he's pays attention to detail and doesn't let me walk away until he's got me exactly on point. Every time I go to Jay's I see everyone else getting exceptional haircuts and edge ups from the other barbers and they are clearly satisfying everyone else because they always have people in the chairs. This is definitely the spot to go to if you're in search of a great barber and you can't go wrong with Ralph!

Dropped in for the 1st time today and was very happy with the end result. Staff was friendly, inviting. Wanted to try a different style than I normally go with. A gentleman named Ray took care of the cut itself and absolutely nailed it. Super friendly guy, the whole vibe of the place was a lot more than I expected from just a random haircut experience. Would recommend the place, as well as Ray’s services, to anyone.

I first came here and kept my husband company (he got a haircut as a Christmas gift from me) and I really really liked how Robert left him looking. But then, I came for a cut with Robert. I had recently gotten a really bad haircut and I couldn’t feel happy with it. That’s why I decided to contact Robert and lucky for me, not only was he available but he worked a miracle on me and I feel so happy with how he left me looking. Robert, I thanked you about 5 times already but man, it just feels like it’s not enough! I really appreciate it! This place is so chill, so comfortable, the vibes are just right, and the service? Amazing. I definitely recommend everyone to try this place because it’s just extremely welcoming. Once again thank you guys, and thank you Robert. I’ll be coming back in a few weeks!

I’m from out of town and was looking a mess. Did a walk in on a busy Friday. A warm welcome when walking in and the service… Robert was unreal amazing. He made sure it was what I wanted but suggested options he felt would look and I’m just going to go ahead and say it, he is one of the best barbers to ever walk this planet and you’d be lucky to sit in his chair! Clean shop, great atmosphere, great service! I recommend making an appointment asap!!

These people are awesome. Everything is incredibly laid back. There's a lot of talk back and forth between the barbers and it's clear that the owner is deeply involved with all his barbers lives. All the barbers are very young there too. If you're looking for a more posh environment, this isn't the place for you. But if you're looking for a friendly face that will get the job done, they are fantastic.

Ive been going to this place for about a year or so now, its a 45 mins drive from my house but i honestly cannot find any other place that compares to this place and i have tried many. I always go to Rafael as he is a perfectionist and ive never found someone who can do what he does, its like an art. From day one, Jay made me feel at home. The atmosphere in this barbershop is second to none. Barbers who I did not know greeted me and made me feel at home. Music is always on point, and if you are thirsty, there might be a little something for you in the fridge. I transitioned to Ralph (Jay is very busy) for my second cut and have been with him since. Ralph's attention to detail is second to none. If you want a barber who is going to take his time and deliver a haircut that will stand out, Ralph is your guy.

Nacho here, I been here a few times already after just trying a few barbershops around the area and I have to say, I have found a barber, the place it's pretty active and everyone is always just having a good time, the barbers in general are all pretty chill and friendly, I been getting cuts from Robert "Fade Jesus" and I'm super pleased, he takes his time and it's constantly checking to see if I like the progress or if I want to adjust anything and doesn't rush it, plus if you follow his ig you can reserve an appointment online and prepay and all so just have to worry about getting there and just chill with the crew there, definitely recommend trying to get an appointment with Robert but if he happens to be booked, I'll still recommend any of the other barbers, they are pretty welcoming of new faces and they all try to make you feel like you are at the right place, so yeah, check them out and see for yourself.

Jays barber shop is a cool, authentic place on Durham that screams culture. The aesthetic inside is diverse and it gave me flashbacks of the real good barber shops of yesteryear. The staff is friendly and welcoming. Ray arrived on time and went to work. He heard my notes that I gave him and was very receptive of my vision. It has been 2 years since I’ve cut my hair. I used to go to sports clips downtown in the tunnels and those old 4$ haircut places on a busy street. I’ve been to several types in my life and this specific place this tops them all. Jay's Barbershop & Shave Parlor moved into the neighborhood recently, so this is where I decided continue the tradition this year. Ray Sanchez at Jay's is the barber I made my appointment with and he really hit it out of the park. Love this place! Dustin is the only barber I let touch my hair, he comes up with awesome designs for my undercut and always makes it look super clean. He also does my 8 year old son’s hair, he’s always patient when he gets jumpy and still manages to give him a super clean cut.
