BEST HAIRCUT I'VE EVER HAD! Eric Hutchison is extremely talented and super friendly--he always remembers my name and my family members names and that means alot to me. Great vibe here, dynamite music, and it's alot of fun joining in the conversation amongst the barbers. Really incredible group of folks here and I HIGHLY recommend!

I just received my first haircut from Hutch at the new barbershop. I have been having Hutch cut my hair for a couple of years now. He always does a great job. He takes the time and care to get it right every time. The Loyal Sons barbershop is committed to keeping the spirit of old school traditional barbering alive in Des Moines. They honor the old craft by practicing their art every day. Sometimes the newest thing isn't the best thing. Our fathers and grandfathers had quite a few things right. Their brand new shop is sparkling clean and fresh, but with the vibe of a long established location. I especially enjoy the tile mosaic in the entryway that transports you to an old school barbershop today. The barbers here all seem friendly and professional. If you are looking for a traditional barbershop with the convenience of appointments, you won't find better than the Loyal Sons or Hutch the Barber.

10/10 would recommend, got a cut from Travis and he did a amazing job exactly what I wanted. Given the atmosphere and the cuts I saw from the other guys I imagine they give amazing cuts as well. They had food and tattoo suggestions to boot. Will definitely look forward to becoming a regular customer!

Just went for my first barbershop visit ever!!! And jay did my haircut and beard trim! Holy cows guys from the moment I walked in I was comfortable! Leading up to it I was so nervous about trying something new and then soon as I heard the music and sweet stickers, magnets and photos on the wall I felt like this was the place to be. The guys there are all very friendly!! Had great conversation they helped me decide for sure on where I’m taking my first date to eat. I am sooo impressed with this barbershop it was such a great time and I looked like a whole new person soon as I looked in the mirror I almost came to tears! I looked like a whole new person!! Thanks jay for doing such an amazing job!!!

Booking an appointment was painless, did it all from my phone. Shop layout/decor was very cool...I even got greeted by a dog. All the barbers were friendly, and Derek did a killer job with my cut. 10/10 would recommend. I know I'll be going back!

Been looking for that traditional barber experience for a while. Jay definitely nailed that! Jay also gave a great haircut. I remember the trips to the barber as a kid where they would make you feel like a king, but butcher your hair. Here you get the barbershop experience AND a high end haircut. Excellent, I will return! Just don't tell anyone about it. It's too good and will become too popular, lol. Just kidding, I'm telling everybody! Loyal Sons, go see Jay! I'm sure any of the guys are good!

Loyal Sons is my go-to Barber Shop in Des Moines. It's in a great location: conveniently close to downtown, but still has plenty of free parking right outside so you don't have to pay a meter. More importantly though, what sets this shop apart is the barbers and their connection to the city's culture; this is an authentic, local shop that makes Des Moines a cooler place to live. Regardless, you can expect that you're going to get a consistently outstanding haircut every time you go here.
