I've been coming to Spruce for years.. Even after a location change, Tennyson Street outgrowing itself, COVID, and new ownership, I love coming here for a good easy relaxing haircut/shave/trim. Olivia has been my stylist this entire time and I don't foresee anything changing. Thanks for making me look good Olivia!

Had the best haircut of my life! Rosa is an incredible stylist and professional -- I came in as a first-time customer with a challenging cut and time frame (had a hard stop for a meeting) and she absolutely crushed it. I've tried to get this type of cut at multiple barber shops around the city two refused outright and one spent almost 2 hours on it -- Rosa asked exactly the right questions to figure out what I wanted and did the cut with precision and care -- turned out perfect and was in/out in less than 25min ! On top of that -- the atmosphere is super comfortable and friendly for all ages/walks, the scheduling/operations were smooth and seamless, and price was reasonable. Rosa and team have made a customer for life -- would recommend without hesitation.

(This review is for Doug, specifically) I’ve came to hate haircuts. After getting out of the Army, I want to throw up every time I have to pay some lazy millennial $40 to cut my medium drop fade haphazardly. This was my fourth time coming to Spruce, each cut prior to this has been average to above average in quality. Today, 12/29, I scheduled an appointment with Doug, desperate to just chop some hair off. What I got however, was the best haircut I’ve ever had in my entire life. Doug’s attention to detail is simply unmatched. My haircut took an hour (they usually take 15-20 minutes), but not a second was wasted. The final product is a masterpiece that was worth 10x what I paid. If all of Doug’s cuts are of this quality, than he is truly a professional in a field of amateurs. He will be the only one to cut my hair until I leave Colorado.

Went to Spruce after my regular guy of 10 years fell off the radar...I am older...and there is nothing "hip" about me...but the reviews were excellent...so I thought I would give Spruce a try...I booked with JIMMY...he was excellent! He did an amazing job ! Could not be happier with the haircut ! The shop is very relaxed...and comfortable with a good vibe...glad I found this place...definitely going to return for the next cut...

I'm torn. This is, in my opinion, the best barbershop in Denver. I've had a variety of barbers over my years of visiting this place and I've always left more than satisfied. But if I recommend this place to people, then that means that I'll have a harder time getting appointment slots. You know what? Screw it. If you live anywhere in the Denver area, this place is well worth a trip. 5 stars

Rosa, Rosa, Rosaaaa!!! First visit to Spruce. Modern shop with a classic feel. Rosa took time to ask about my hair and beard and her attention to detail was on point. Lots of barbers to choose from but with this visit, I’ll be back to have Rosa work on my hair stuff. Don’t be scruffy, folks. Get yourself cleaned up at Spruce.

Typically my haircuts have been very good at spruce. Recently I had a bad haircut and the owner reached out and resolved the issue. All businesses will have issues but very few try to resolve. This speaks volumes about spruce and I would certainly recommend them

Been going here for five years, and I’ve always had the best experience when I go into Spruce. They’ve kept my hair looking good, and all the stylists always do an excellent job at getting my desired style right or suggesting new things I can try. Specifically, Pham has taken care of me for years and he’s been the best barber I’ve had. But when he’s not available, everyone else has been lovely as well. Sometimes there can be a little wait that goes over your appointment time, but I usually don’t mind because I know they are putting care into their clients and I know they’ll do the same for me.

My son got his haircut here and the stylist barely acknowledged him the entire time. On top of that, the haircut was subpar. I do not recommend for a kids cut with the stylist we saw. Make sure to get a stylist that likes kids.

7/21/21: I needed a cut before a work trip and went to Spruce for the first time. I booked with Stefani, and it was a great experience. The online booking tool is super convenient, the people were all friendly and welcoming, the haircut itself was high quality, and the prices were reasonable (not cheap, but fair). I’ll definitely be back!

I've been going to Ana (Anastasia) at Spruce for a couple years now and I have to say it's been an overall great experience. She always takes the time to go through what I want before getting started and I feel comfortable asking for changes anytime I want to try something new. Ana pays a lot of attention to detail and individual style, so I know that I'll leave every time looking great. The shop has always had a clean and stylish look to it and they've even updated the layout throughout the quarantine process to keep things safe and comfortable. The hair and beard products are pretty stellar, too. They have their own line of beard wax that helps me maintain a clean look even after wearing a mask. All in all, I'd say I'm very pleased with the service and atmosphere and would recommend to anyone looking for a great barbershop.

If you want a great experience set up an appointment with Ray. A charming shop with spectacular style, aesthetic and some of the most down to earth and chill vibes I have ever walked into. A contemporary spin on the traditional barbershop with all the aspects rooted in tradition including straight razor shaves and hot towels. Beard trim and haircut were beyond expectation, I drove across town for this cut and I'm happy I did because I got that glow up experience in a few hours not years.

I purchased the Signature cut, and Ana took her time, showed me the back and sides and asked if everything looked good. She was detailed and thorough. Wash and towel after was icing on the cake. Cleanliness and precautions are on point and our appointment was on time.(actually a few minutes ahead of schedule) Although my son has had several cuts at Spruce, by various barbers, this was our first time with Stefani B and it was fantastic. I've been going to Spruce to get my hair cut for almost two years now. I get a perfect haircut from Jonathan each time I go--he keeps my hair and beard on point. The rest of the staff is great as well. They all seem like they enjoy what they do, and you can feel the camaraderie. I don't shop much on the retail side, but they always have stylish items on display. The location is great as well--sometimes I'll stay in the neighborhood for coffee or dinner. Awesome barbershop, clean and modern, Pham is your guy if you're looking for a consistent barber who takes pride in his work. Pricing is reasonable and parking can be tricky if you schedule haircut around dinner time from nearby restaurants but never more than a block or two.

My son frequents Spruce when it's haircut time and they are always so fantastic! Great for boys that don't want to go to Mom's salon because of the masculine-friendly vibe at Spruce (and the vintage video games), and the bonus of skilled barbers that know how to do trendy boy cuts. Their appointment online program is pretty snazzy too.

EDIT: I was able to coordinate with the owner of Spruce and they worked to turn my opinion around. I gave them another chance and scheduled an appointment through their web portal without talking with them. This visit was everything I had hoped it would be with incredible customer service and a wonderful haircut. I greatly appreciate them obviously taking steps to improve their service and would highly recommend Spruce to anyone. I had my hair cut here a few times and I will happily give them 2 stars because the haircuts are fantastic. However, the customer service is why I no longer get my hair cut here. My first experience here was very positive and I was happy with the cut. However, on my second visit I went in to schedule an appointment (yes I know they do online scheduling) and was completely and totally ignored. I stood in the entry in plain sight and was neither greeted nor acknowledged in any way. I didn't think much of it because both of the barbers were actively cutting hair at the time. Then once one of them was finished he walked over with his client to ring up. He stood within 5 feet of me and still never acknowledged my existence in the shop. I figured he was with a customer, no big deal. Well the customer left and the barber stood at the front on the table doing something else for a few moments before walking into the back, sitting in the chair and pulling out his cell phone. I was still in his line if sight and at this point started to get annoyed. Their phone rang and was promptly answered by the same barber. It was a customer who wanted to schedule an appointment and the barber walked back up to the front and used the tablet to schedule their appointment. He then ended the call and walked straight back to the chair and pulled his cell phone out again. Still at this point neither barber as said anything to me at all. So, being rather annoyed I did the only reasonable thing I could think of to get an appointment and decided to call the store. The barber promptly answered the phone at which point I asked to make an appointment. At that point he finally looked at me and accepted I was actually in the store and a customer. The following day I showed up to my appointment and it was again a very positive experience like the second. The barbers were friendly, I got a drink and a great haircut. However when I went to book a third haircut through their website (i'm all for second chances) it informed me that my number had been blacklisted. I decided to not pursue it any further and just went to the barber across the street.

My brother and I decided to get a haircut and a shave while on a road trip that took us through Denver. While most barber shops in the area were more than willing to make an appointment, Spruce was the only shop that was extremely willing to accommodate our walk in. They had a very friendly staff who were also extremely knowledgeable. The atmosphere inside was top notch as well. Overall, great haircut, great shave, and a definite must visit in Denver.

Just got my 4yo an amazing haircut by Dayja, just in time for his holiday show. Booking on line was so easy (got an appt for less than an hour from when I booked). She was really sweet taking care of while he was wiggly and was able to talk my through what would work best for his crazy front cowlick. This is a great place to get groomed - they offer a wide range of services, it's immaculate (to the point of sweeping hair into a floorboard-mounted central vacuum), the staff are super-friendly, and my wife tells me I'm getting the best haircuts she's seen in the dozen or so years we've love in Denver! They have a small selection of men's clothing and accessories, they're really strong on beard grooming products. If I had one request, it'd be for them to start offering up some EDC products, but that's just icing on the cake.

Went there for the haunted house this weekend. Hands down the best best best haunted house I have ever been to. I loved their concept of using Virtual Reality to get the heart racing and the adrenaline pumping. If you missed it this year, you better ask the owners nicely if they will do it again next year. Outside of Halloween, Spruce is the place to be to get some great quality clothing and accessories while getting your hair did or your beard trimmed. My husband loves this place, loves the clothes. I have never ever seen him go into a clothing store-independent or corporate- and like/love/need/want multiple pieces....until Spruce came along. Go there...seriously...go!

Professional Headshots by Kyle! Being a regular customer of Spruce, I noticed they provide a headshot photography service. I quickly made an appointment with Kyle and he did a phenomenal job. We used the natural environment of the local alleyways to frame a few distinct looks. Only hours after our shoot, Kyle sent me a dozen of the best....and I had trouble choosing which ones I wanted to use because they were all so classy. And the price is almost too good to be true. Nice folks, but the cut wasn't great, and the scheduling app was a little invasive as well. I had to answer a bunch of questions prior being able to schedule an appointment. She kept facing me away from the mirror to cut my hair, and then turning me around and I couldn't tell her how to fix it. Unfortunately I had to buzz my head (myself) afterwards. Edit: Though my first cut wasn't great, these guys are class acts and gave me a gracious response when I had an issue. That's worth a lot to me and I'll definitely be coming back.
