I had always seen this place going to micro center. I always assumed that it was a restaurant of some sort. Went to micro center again after leaving I decided I wanted a haircut and looked up places to get a haircut. Low and behold this place showed up 450 ft away. Upon pulling up I was absolutely wowed by the front doors as they were solid wood the entrance way smelled heavily of cedar which I absolutely love. Walking through the second set of doors. Your senses are overwhelmed by the smells of an old style barbershop. Cedar oak old repurposed leather furniture absolutely beautiful interior. The service was amazing greeted immediately at the front desk. Offered to see if they had open availabilities right there which they did not but they got me in at a decent time a couple hours later. The service was absolutely wonderful barbers with multiple years experience an old style hot towel treatment shoulder and scalp massages available. Along with a massage parlor in the back which is an absolutely beautiful room. Upon sitting down in The barbers chair I was offered something to drink which I respectfully declined so I cannot tell you what they have. They offer a multitude of different types of facial grooming from beard trims to straight razor shave. An absolutely wonderful experience all the way around definitely a five-star establishment for anybody that wants an old style barber experience and not just getting your haircut. I do personally recommend that you ask for John going in that man has decades of experience.

I've passed by Bates & Brown many times in the past few years. During the pandemic, I just let my hair grow out. When I was ready to chop it all off, I decided to give Bates & Brown a try. They did not disappoint. Scheduling online was easy. When I arrived, I was greeted, offered a drink (I accepted!) and shown to a chair. John was fantastic. I walked in with a ponytail and out with a razor-cut, stylish head of hair. The hot towels, shoulder massage and drink were all superb additions to the well-crafted style I ended up with. I'll be returning on the regular so he can keep me looking good. Wrap up and payment were painless. I highly recommend going here for your styling needs.

I've gone to Bates and Brown for over a year now... Wendy is a phenomenal receptionist who remembers everyone and keeps tabs on you. I came in for a walk in appointment today, and she instantly asked about something that was coming up after my last appointment. She cares for all of the patrons that come through. Since it was a walk in appointment, I asked for whoever was available at the time slot that I requested and I got paired with Tiffany... Without exaggeration, she gave me the BEST haircut/beard trim that I have ever received. I'm writing this review only 90 minutes after receiving this phenomenal service and I've already been complimented 20+ times (some people multiple times because it's that good) 11/10 recommend Wendy/Tiffany for your next haircut and/or beard trim... Wendy will get you set up, and Tiffany well get you set

I’ve been coming here for the ladder half of this year. I heard about this place from another barber ironically, however, it’s been the best piece of advice I’ve received in regards to my hair. I see Chindar and honestly as long as he has the scissors I’ll never go anywhere else. He’s professional, well-mannered, will talk about anything, and will make absolute sure he knows what you want before he starts. He’s a master at his craft and loves what he does. Love this place.

Chindar is my barber of choice when I schedule my appointments here. The amount of attention that he has to detail is always reassuring that I will leave with an awesome fade and feel so confident with my hair. You can tell that he takes pride in his work. Overall, the experience is amazing and always worth it—from the second that you walk in and are greeted by the front desk with complementary drinks to when you are checking out. I have a tendency of getting to my appointments early just so I can enjoy a drink by the fireplace and take in the old timey barbershop. 10/10 would recommend to anyone looking for a quality haircut and an enjoyable experience.

Chin has been my barber of choice for many months now. The quality of his work is 10/10 hands down. Every time Chin fades me up he hits a home run! In my opinion the best barber in town. On top of the amazing haircuts that he delivers he a great conversationalist and makes you feel welcome to be sitting in the chair. Cannot stress enough on how good I believe Chin is!!

I came in for a head shave/beard trim and the experience was amazing. The service I was given was beyond expectations. Staff is friendly and welcome. You can definitely feel this place is maintained by professionals. I would highly recommend giving this place a chance if you are looking for a good shave.

I recently visited the shop as a walk in customer while I was waiting my shift as a Stage Manager for the Dublin Irish Days to start. I asked for a head and facial straight razor shave. I was fortunate enough to have Victoria as my barber. She was a very sweet woman to work with. She also took the time to replace the blade on her straight razor to ensure the best possible shave she could give. We had a very nice conversation and she was all around a pleasure to talk with. I will make it a point to go again and be “pampered” (as she put it) again will make sure I get Victoria again. Yes, the place is higher in the price range, but the service you get makes it fully worth it in the end. So, moral of the story, go visit Victoria at Bates and Brown in Dublin and you will get your monies worth. My wife definitely thinks I did!

The stylist I had was amazing! Tristan did everything perfect. Beard trim, facial, shoulder massage. It was amazing. It was rather inconvenient though to have to leave the salon to find a bathroom to use. I'm not exactly sure what the issue was but the bathroom was closed. At first the ambience was wonderful. I overheard an employee complaining about the fact that the honoring of 9/11 victims was holding up the big football game preshow. At first it felt like a high end salon and then it became a Lady Jane's Sports Clips.

It was a great experience from the time I got there and was offered a complimentary cocktail while I waited, to the moment I left. My appointment was with Madison. I basically told her I was open to suggestions and would trust her judgement and expertise-- and I'm so glad I did. I left feeling refreshed and relaxed, with a new haircut that my wife and I both love! So if you're looking for a place with a super cool atmosphere, extremely friendly, talented, and professional staff, and an overall fantastic experience-- look no further. I can't wait to go back!

I went there for the first time today and it was amazing, the service and the people are really nice. As soon as I checked in I was offered something to drink (no charge) and 5 minutes later I was offered a complementary massage as well(again free) it felt really good , the lady who gave me the massage Dajia knows what she is doing, and when the time came for me to get my hair cut, Madison the lady at Bates and Brown she asked me what i was looking for? And she gave me her own suggestions as well , then we both agree in one haircut style, she rinsed my hair and even styled it for me, it was really a great experience ,I truly recommend this place if you are looking for a unique experience and I definitely will go back for another haircut or massage.

I have not worked with anyone else but everyone seems very nice. It may not be the cheapest place but Madison's cuts are definitely worth it.

I had been wanting to try this place for a while, but the prices always threw me off a little and I always ended up going back to the same place since it was about half the price. In this case, you definitely get what you pay for. They have a great group of staff and the place is amazing. During the colder months, they have a wood burning fireplace in one corner which is just amazing. There are leather sofas and chairs around the room if there is a wait, and the giant leather barber chairs are awesome and comfortable. I had been wanting a new style since I had the same haircut for about 10 years or so, and I just couldn't quite express what I wanted at the previous place I had been going. I let the hair stylist know kind of what I wanted and ultimately left it up to her to cut my hair and trim my beard. She did a an amazing job and I haven't looked back since. I'll absolutely continue going here for the foreseeable future. The experience is difficult to put into words, but I highly recommend a visit if you're on the fence like I was.

Chris is a fantastic and caring individual who is always willing to accommodate the physical difficulties that my disability presents. Great haircut, and relaxing shave. Still had to touch up a few areas of the shave when I got home. The price did not match the quality for the cut I got. That said it was just a medium fade to skin, which is pretty simple. Maybe if I had asked for a more complex cut the price would have been worth it. Overall a nice place with a relaxing atmosphere but you pay for it.

Tristan was absolutely fantastic! So professional and I felt like a king being pampered. 5 out of 5 good stars. Two employees were a bit loud over a football game though, and then got annoyed that 9/11 memorials cut into the precious game. That's incredibly insulting and didn't know football trumps American lives lost. The bathroom was closed, looked like not temp either. So my husband with a disability was told to go to Gallo's... They were not open yet. He had to get in his car and drive somewhere to use the bathroom and come back. Really? ADA, all I'll say.

From the time you open the door you will realize that this place is different. From the old fashion brick and classic wood floors to the Perfectly placed big screen televisions, this place exudes class. Great list of services and plain old great service from the staff. It really feels like a step back in time when the barber shop was a place for a guy to experience spa like treatment with hot face towels, hot neck shave and great after shave tonic. You have to experience it for yourself.

Bates and Brown was more than a barbershop. It was an experience. I’m a bald guy so I haven’t been to a barbershop in awhile (12 years). I scheduled an appointment for a shave and decided when I arrived that I wanted to splurge and get a facial as well. Everyone was great and accommodating. The decor is super cool and one of a kind. If you’re looking for a barbershop for yourself or just want to get a gift card for a bald guy to get a shave and a facial I highly recommend Bates and Brown.

3 stars is an average of 2 ratings I want to give them: 5 stars for service and 1 star for marketing. These folks provide great services and their prices are fair. I was given a gift card and had a fantastic cut/shave. However, you need to make sure to NEVER give them your email. They do not abide by the CAN-SPAM Act; they do not include an unsubscribe link on their marketing emails, and multiple attempts to address this have been unsuccessful. TL;DR great shop, just give them a fake name and/or email.

I've never written a review like this in my life but felt compelled by my most recent experience at B&B. To the same affect, I hardly ever check yelp as I always assume the comments are astroturfed. To verify I'm real, I bleed scarlet & grey tho I'd welcome cane's sauce being directly injected into my veins. Have lived in UA/Grandview for years. Been to Greatclips, Lady Janes, and BlueStar. Having now been to B&B, I know I won't venture anywhere else for the remainder of my time here in Columbus. The number one thing I noticed is the lack of rush. The careful consideration of my barber. Usually when I go to get my haircut, it's in and out in 10 minutes or less. At Bates, I could immediately tell this was a whole different experience. Rather than the typical "what are we doing today," and then a 10 minute sprint, my barber had a number of follow up questions. "Ok, I'm thinking this for that, and this for here, and this for there. What do you think?" Truly sought feedback as to what to do, what I preferred, etc. This was really the most important to me as frankly I had never before really had a haircut I actually liked. One where I walked away and felt I looked good, or better than I did walking in. Before, a haircut was just a necessity to make sure my hair wouldn't eventually grow past my eyes. The time taken and patience offered really made all the difference for me. Without going into a further novel, couple other things I enjoyed about B&B: 1) getting a choice of drinks while getting a haircut?! awesome! 2) very rustic, warm, cool vibe. Brought a groomsman there for a wedding and was excited to show it off 3) very clean 4) barber I got (Tristan) was cool as hell.

To be honest i love this kind of barbershops, they are traditional and have amazing atmosphere.The place is not cheap but also not at all expensive for the amazing and detailed service they offer.
