I’m rather picky about my barbers, and for the past three years, I’ve driven from the other side of the city (Oak Park) to get my hair cut here . . . And still, every time I walk out after getting a fresh cut, I leave feeling great about my decision to do so! I usually sit with Mike — he’s the man! I’ve sat with several of the other barbers, and they have all done a great job. Also, (and to me — very importantly) everyone has always seemed very open and welcoming to anyone who walks in the door. I highly recommend to anyone in Chicago looking for a classic, top-notch barbershop!!

First time ever using this barbershop and it exceeded my expectations. I went in for a trim of my long hair and received exactly what I wanted. There was a cordial atmosphere among the barbers and clients. It was a little expensive ($35 + tip) but it was worth it for a very solid haircut. I will definitely be going back.

When I moved to Chicago I was nervous about finding a barber that could continue to give me a quality bald fade. Getting my haircut is something I look forward to on a monthly basis, and I could not be more happy with my experience thus far at Belmont Barbershop. I have not even bothered to try other places out to compare and I have lived here for 2 years. Not only are their haircuts great, but the ambiance inside the shop is amazing. The artwork is very stimulating, conversation is always good, and you really feel like you are just hanging out with the guys during your haircut. I go to Belmont Barbershop every few weeks to get my haircut. Their online scheduling system makes it super easy to create an appointment so I can get in exactly when I need to with little to no waiting. I’d recommend using this feature as most of the guys in the shop have a pretty solid book of business and this can guarantee that your seat is reserved. I like that they have that policy – it makes the place run like a well-oiled machine! The guys there are great – I always schedule with Greg – he’s super friendly, keeps a clean station and is always in a great mood! Every time I get my haircut I’m happy with it! There’s always solid music playing and the overall vibe of the place is awesome – I really dig going there. Be aware that it’s cash only (says so multiple places on the website but in case you missed it here it is again). If you forget there’s an ATM pretty close that they can direct you to. Always a pleasure to go to Belmont!

Great overall experience for a haircut. I have been going here regularly for five months and not had a bad experience yet. Colin is my regular guy and he does a bang up job every time. The guys in the shop have a great rapport with one another so there is always fun, lively conversation. Haircut prices are reasonable ($30 for a regular cut) for the quality and the locale.

The website makes it easy to book an appointment with the barber of your choice. You don’t have to keep calling and calling to see if there is an opening. They have strict Covid 19 policies in place that are listed on their website. Everyone gets temperature checked. There are partitions between stations. Masks are required. Great local barbershop.

I've only been going to Belmont for a few months, but I've been seeing Brian, my current barber, for nearly 6 years. Way before he cut my hair at Belmont, he cut it at another nearby shop. Before that, he owned a shop in Denver, CO. and I was a regular customer there. My point is that Brian is a great dude, a fantastic barber and Belmont Barbershop is also excellent. I usually get there midday and there is always great coffee and even beer in the fridge. All of the barbers I've spoken with there are super friendly and down to earth, but Brian's the only one I know best. And if you're looking for a great haircut and a friendly environment, this is a cool shop with TVs, music and good vibes.

I started going to Belmont looking for the real deal barbershop experience... this place is it. Great haircut, cold drinks in the fridge, strait forward classic cuts, shaves and banter. I've always seen Brian, who takes walk in customers and will hopefully be booking reservations soon. Brian actually takes time to listen to what you want, then provides a high quality cut: all the nice accompaniments with a consistent attention to detail. On my last visit I had time for a shave as well and as always, Brian issued his usual 1st class treatment. All the guys at Belmont have built great rapport with the customers who are almost always on a return visit to the shop. Absolutely worth a visit next time you have any grooming needs.

Brian cuts my hair and he is hands down the BEST Barber I have ever had! He is diverse on styles, from classic to fades. He blends perfectly and doesn't waste time talking. I recommend him for all your cuts. Make your appointment, you won't regret it.

Just left the barbershop! And have to say Vince did an awesome job! I couldn't be anymore happier! Definitely coming back to see him! Update: 12/1/2017: So it's been about 7 months now since I've been coming here to see Vince. I continue to have a great experience with him and continues to do an awesome job! The haircuts he does on me always leave me extremely happy! If you plan on seeing him please call before because he is not taking appointments yet, unfortunately, he has less seniority than the other barbers. So he mainly does walk ins. In my opinion he should be taking appointments because he is that good. I hope management changes this so I can make my appointments with Vince and plan accordingly. He also cut my 4 year old sons hair and came out awesome, my son loved it! Update:12/20/17. Unfortunately, Vince is no longer a barber here...sad, sad day.

A cool barbershop with friendly, chatty barbers. What's great is that they accept walk-ins with 1 dedicated barber for those. But the rest of the barbers work from reservations which is great when you don't have 2-3 hours to sit and wait for a haircut. Beware though, this joint attracts the most tragically hip hipster clientele.

I've been going to Belmont Barbershop since it opened. My experiences in the beginning were that of a patron at a small but friendly and relaxed boutique barber shop. When you walked in there was a couch on the right and a pool table in the back. The cutting stations were located on the left and it was a great experience. The haircuts were superb and the guys were all great to converse with. As time has progress the owners have taken the business in a different direction. Instead of focusing on the atmosphere and expanding into a larger space they changed the atmosphere and stayed put. They have removed the pool table, added more cutting stations and added chairs around the couch. While the hair cuts are still superb the experience has suffered. The waits for walk in's still take up to 2 hours, the space is still too small for the amount of business they have, and they are so strict about closing up they tell you not to come in an hour before closing because they won't be able to get you. That said, it's still my go to place for a hair cut, I just had to stop recommending them because I don't want the line to get any longer! :-) I hope they open a second location sometime soon and restore that awesome atmosphere they had when it first opened.

Come to this place for the experience. I've been getting my hair cut here for a few years now. Peter is my go to barber. He's a life coach on the side when he's not cutting hair so suffice it to say that conversation is excellent here. The lay out is like any traditional barbershop and all their guys provide a unit experience. This place is expensive, thus attracting a more sophisticated crowd, but the cost is well worth it. I would have never known this, but the guys have a a tremendous amount of experience and schooling in this field. As long as I live in Chicago, I'll be coming here. This joint won't disappoint.

I've been coming in and getting my hair cut by Josh for the last seven years. Everytime I visit, I know I can depend on these guys to give me a cut that I can be proud wearing out any time. Complimentary neck line-ups with a straight razor give the ending to perfect cuts at the 5+ chair establishment in Roscoe Village What Josh did recently, though, was above and beyond. With a full schedule and a photoshoot at his shop, he took me in as a last minute call-in AFTER I saw that his schedule was fully booked online. Josh didn't have to squeeze me in, but he did and I was able to land the job in part thanks to him. I highly recommend making an appointment online at least a week before to ensure you have the barber of your choice. They are cash only, but now have an ATM in the shop. Such a nice addition!! The Belmont Barbershop is my go-to shop in Chicago when I'm looking to get cut, so come in and get your money's worth on a look you know will leave you dapper and clean everytime.

Holy sh** this place was beyond sickening (the good kind btw)... I have a deep appreciation for the art of barbering... The decor was on effing point and made you feel catapulted back in time... Great comradery among staff (they're basically like brothers) and with customers... Who all seem to be regulars... Young, hip aspect is in play... It's not your grandfather's place nor is it like Floyd's (hipster posing chain). I highly recommend... It's true, men know men's hair... My hair is effing incredible!!! No frills, no pampering... Not even a hair wash... Which is exactly what I hate with salons... I loathe my hair being washed...go here... Won't be disappointed!!!!

Haircut was great but the straight Razer shave is a bit of a rip off if you don't get a good barber. A lot of spots were missed and my neck got cut up pretty bad which was embarrassing
