Family run business in the heart of Edgewater, this place is awesome. The workers are friendly, and accommodating of all needs. It is a very inclusive barbershop, and I would recommend this place to anyone trying to find a new barber. Pro Tip: Reservations are a must. Try a few different barbers and see who you like best, and then become a regular! My guy is Pete, and he's awesome!

My barber Wayne at Gabby’s in Lakeview retired after many, many years. I found Pete at Father and Sons through a friend who owns a business nearby. I’ve been there twice and I’m thrilled. Friendly like I’ve been coming for years. Great cut. I was disappointed when Wayne retired but I’ve found a new home. Great app for scheduling online

I used to come here for a basic haircut when I lived near the area. The place is very friendly and professional. The business is very original has a taste of a personal brand. My preferred barber was Yvonne. She's one of the best and she always gave great service every time I visited. She's my personal recommendation if you come by and visit. I'm no longer living nearby, so I miss the place. But if you're in need of a haircut, definitely come to this place.

The nicest folks you’ll meet. They go above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. Shout out to Yvonne for expertly cutting my hair for 3+ years now and being so sweet and fun to talk to. During the pandemic, they switched from the old first-come, first-served model to an online appointment system. Being able to book an appointment is efficient and easy. Still cash only, so hit the ATM beforehand. The Chase branch across the street is really convenient.

THESE. GUYS. seriously some of the best barbers in the city. They have a range of prices and services, with full neck shave included too! Pete & Mitch have been the guys my partner and I reserve with but I've heard great things about literally all of them. Nice community feel, everyone is friendly and very relaxed. Every time I leave there, I feel like a million bucks! Men's haircuts start at $26. (Though I leave $40 everytime) Reserve on their website and check it out!!! :)

I've gotten two haircuts from Martin now and I've been really happy with both. Looking around it seems like everyone is pretty good there. They are definitely taking precautions and it feels safe. I tried a few places in the area before I found them but I am done trying. The prices are average for the area but the work is better in my opinion. There are Tvs you can see from all the chairs and no one has tried to push any product on me which I appreciate.

Every barber here is awesome and will go above and beyond for their clients. Personally, I get my hair cut by Martin and I can’t say enough about how great he is every time. I recently moved out of state, but I am making it a point to stop by every time I come back home. Thank you guys for everything.

Every time I go I get a great cut, I love how efficient they are. You can choose your regular barber or open for walk in hair cuts. This place is consistently busy which shows what a great job they are doing. Remember they are cash only, and prices changed recently, but it's still worth it for a fantastic cut!

Made my first visit there, and I'll definitely be back! I went in after about 9 months since my last haircut and it was getting really long. It's also been quite a while that I've also been needing a beard trim. When I got there I wasn't sure how I wanted my hair cut. But Martin went with my minimal request and did a fantastic job with my hair and beard trim. I look much better now than I had imagined before I walked in. The place has a nice vibe to it, and it's clean & modern with the barber's stations adding a nice nostalgic feel to the place.

I've been coming here for a couple years now. Bring cash and a good idea of what you want and you're good to go. The wait increases after about 1130am so come earlier if possible. I get my hair cut by mick because he spends so much time on you. I've never had somebody care so much to detail. He knows how particular I am and cares that my hair is that important to me. Mick, RJ, the brothers that own the place and literally every barber in there have a great personality and talent. You can't go wrong for a good hair and beard trim. They always have a great laugh and will include everybody. They support the gay community in there and that means a lot to me as I grew up around insecure straight men who didn't. It makes me feel like an amazing ally to the LGBTQ community to come and get my hair cut by such talented and hilarious people. This place is a hidden gem!

Fast and butch local barber shop where I have never had a haircut and beard trim here that I didn't absolutely love. It's always busy but I really like their walk in system/name board. If you wanna talk they'll talk to you but I prefer to just relax and they'll let you do you. No fuss, just good hair. They also have a good proportion of LGBTQ customers and barbers (inluding me) which is very nice. My beard couldn't be happier.

Simply the best barbershop on the North Side. True to the name, they're a family run shop with generations of experience. They've also adapted to the changing community with a diverse staff of barbers who take anyone and everyone. Wait times on Saturday can mean sitting for hours, but if you're looking for a place to wait it out, they have plenty of distractions to keep you busy and entertained.

I’ve been coming here for haircuts for four years and haven’t gotten an even mediocre haircut once. I don’t have the easiest hair to cut and they’ve always done a great job. Other than a great cut it’s just a nice environment and the prices are very reasonable. I’m not sure what that one guy who gave one star is on about. Maybe he should have given more specific directions than “not too short.” That’s awfully subjective.

The guys at Father & Son are the best. You'll get a great haircut for a reasonable price. I've gotten my hair cut by most of the barbers, and I've been pleased with the cut each time. There can be a long wait, especially on Saturday mornings, but you can call ahead and have them put your name on the board.

I’ve been meaning to leave this review for months, but the service I got yesterday demanded that I do it immediately. I go to this barbershop whenever I can all the way from Pilsen (1800 S.). No matter who cuts your har, it’s a great cut at an affordable price and the cut itself is fast. I’ve got my haircut by Anthony, Match, Peter, RJ, and Yvonne as well as the original founder Joe and one cut is better than the next (although I prefer Joe the most for the stories, although he is not there much). Sometimes there’s a long wait but to me, that’s proof of consistently good haircuts. Yesterday I came in on the busiest day of the year for them and needed a quick holiday trim. I was out of there in 45 minutes including the wait. I can’t say enough about this place, if you want an old-school barber shop, with diverse clientele, great barbers, afordable prices and great conversation this is your place even if it’s out-of-the-way for you.

Great hair cut as always but most importantly, right now, they are doing all the COVID mitigation measures. Appointments only, chairs sperated by plexiglass for waiting (if you have to wait, I waited less than 5 minutes), temp checks, masks on everyone. Their app makes making an appointment (and cancelling if needed) super easy.

There were quite a few guys ahead of me when I signed in on the whiteboard but they managed to get through everyone in a timely manner. That means, for better and for worse, that nobody is in a hurry to get you in and out of their chair. The plus? A great conversation, and a congenial atmosphere along with your handsome cut. And the banter ranges from the latest in sports to the latest in fashion -- they'll talk anything. The minus? Often a long wait at this popular establishment. No appointments. Probably exactly the way "father" of Father and Sons learned at HIS father's tutelege (I'm just guessing here).
