I went back to Temple of Groom in Cambridge yesterday for my second haircut with Yoda. He is extremely courteous and professional, and a very talented barber. He used some very good smelling products during the cut, and even did a hot towel on the back of my neck before shaving it. He’s very friendly and easy to talk to during the haircut. I’ll definitely be coming back.

I have been here a few times mainly just out of convenience. I have never had an absolutely terrible haircut here but also never a great haircut and for the price each time should be great. Probably will not go back as the last time I was there the barbers clippers kept shutting off mid swipe throughout the entire cut. When I got home I noticed he missed a few spots around my ears. He also left the cowlick I have on the top back of my head too long so it awkwardly stands up, most other places I go know how to handle it. They also dont do neck shaves which most barbers these days do with a haircut.

I’ve experienced a couple great haircuts from the Cambridge location. My only complaint is that both visits, I’ve schedule and paid for a 35 minute scissor cut and each time the haircut took 10 minutes. More time could’ve been spent on layering and a hair wash before the cut..just doesn’t feel worth $50 + tip for a 10 min cut.

The name of this barber shop fits its experience outcome. Truly a temple of groom. Tranquility and the level of care attention to detail and product knowledge as well as hair knowledge is why I see myself not going anywhere else. My now barber Ruben made sure that I was comfortable and the quality of his work was beyond. Any barber can use machinery but a barber with a steady hand with scissors is like Michael Jordan of barbers an all around player. Pricing is perfect for the level of care and more importantly the image and confidence built after getting off of the chair. Oh not to mention not having to wait all day like most barber shops. Ruben follows a appointment management system where it’s like a revolving door with little to no time lost. I want to really thank and appreciate Ruben!!! for how he took care of my image and me as a person. I will definitely be back over and over again.

Julio’s new place Temple of Groom is an absolute winner, and I highly recommend you pay it a visit. Quality, attention to detail, and high style permeate every corner of the shop and every minute you spend in Julio’s chair. Julio spends the time he needs to make sure your haircut is everything you expect (at an amazing price!), and I greatly appreciate the pride he takes in his craft. I have long hair, a high fade, and a big beard, all of which I’ve grown out and experimented with over the last few years Julio has been cutting my hair. I brought my papou, (grandpa) here today, and he loved it! The staff was super sweet and welcoming. My yeyia, (grandma) and I relaxed on the comfy couch, and appreciated the relaxing ambiance, while he enjoyed his much needed pampering. He has pretty bad anxiety and PTSD from a robbery years ago, and now because of that mixed with alzheimers making itself at home in his mind, it's difficult for him to remain calm and relaxed. He gladly waited about 45 minutes before his turn, (understandably a wicked busy spot), without complaining. He just relaxed on the comfy couch, exuding excited anticipation. Thank you Temple of Groom! 😆 Great name, by the way! You guys are amazing. Thank you for your genuine hospitality, and great work! You made an old Greek man very happy today. ❤

Julio runs a clean, modern, and beautiful French style barber shop on commonwealth ave. It’s very clear he has channeled his passion for the barber heritage into his shop. The moment you walk inside you are captivated with the collection of rare Barber Mugs, antiques, Razors and 4 beautiful 19th century barber chairs- this shop is really magic. I recommend the Senator Service. The attention to detail is what impressed me the most. At other high traffic barbers in town I feel like I’m just a number, in and out. But today I felt like Julio genuinely cared about the final result. I will most definitely be back.

I think everyone else has said enough about how amazing the decor is. But did you know that Julio also does tricky Asian hair (for terrible lack of better word)? Yes, the kind that sticks straight out of your head and turns your head into a weird shape. I haven't found another person in Cambridge as good as he is. I had a bad experience at this barbershop. Ivan was my barber. I asked him for a specific, simple cut (long on top and short on the sides) and showed him a photo. He said "I can give you that" and then proceeded to cut my hair a completely different way. He cut off the length on top and left the sides too long. The cut looks terrible and now I have to grow out the top again. Ivan was wearing headphones and talking on the phone the entire time he was cutting my hair. I was in the chair for only 10 minutes. I had to ask him to shave the back of my neck because he didn't do it on his own. This experience was not worth $40 + tip. I received low quality service and a low quality cut.

PLEASE READ: I received a haircut from a different barbershop where the barber decided to buzz the middle of my head but not the sides and to give me a “fade”. That barber also messed up a lot of other things, and I was panicking. I called temple of groom and Ruben answered about an hour before they closed on a Friday night. I explained the situation to him and he was able to fit me in the last slot of the night. When I got there he realized how bad the situation was and proceeded to fix literally everything. He gave me an actual fade which was super clean, explained a bunch of things about hair care, and even brought out some refreshments. His friend Manny was there too and he was just a good energy throughout the whole thing. Let me be clear, the experience I had a temple of groom was life-saving and I will definitely be going back.

Everything in the shop is selected to match the brand, the barbers are always dressed up, etc, etc. Comparing to other places in Cambridge with similar quality/experience the Temple of Groom is not expensive. The guys are always reachable through messages here at Google Maps, which is nice. And last, but most important I love my haircut. Julio, keep up the great work and see you ~in a month

You will not be disappointed. Julio and his team are professionals and I'm leaving this review because everyone makes mistakes but posting a 1-star review which stays up forever and may negatively influence other customers' isn't representative of the quality of service that is provided at Temple of Groom. I HIGHLY recommend them as there are few small businesses out there who care so deeply about each individual customer's experience. If you have a bad experience, bring it up with them and they'll make it right -- don't post here complaining without giving them a chance to prove their commitment to you and earn your business long-term.

Just got a haircut here yesterday. Enough has been said about the decor, which obviously is amazing. More importantly, Julio (the owner) is extremely attentive to what you want from your grooming. He paused after every few cuts and trims to make sure I felt the haircut was shaping up the way I wanted. He was friendly and respectful. Look out for the sign outside the shop that will surely make you smile. Finally, I felt it was very reasonably priced at $25 for the haircut, and that too in the heart of Cambridge!

Best haircut I've ever had. This is the first "expensive" haircut I have had. Normally I pay $20, but this was $40 including the tip. The money was well worth it and I will do it again. I had George who was a very friendly guy who makes you feel welcome. Our fluid conversation ended about 10 minutes into the haircut after he finished the easy parts of the haircut. This was because he was focused on the haircut to get it right to perfection. And he did. My comb over was accented with a neatly etched line to contour where the part is supposed to be. This is the sexy when I told him I wanted a professional yet sexy haircut. Bravo George. I will be back again. In regards to covid precautions, masks and gloves were worn the entire time. George saw my cloth mask and offered me a more breathable lightweight one. I wore the mask the entire time and he still did well around the ears where the straps were. They have a disinfecting station set up in what used to be the waiting area. They are doing it right and then some, which is why I don't understand a comment I saw here about bad precautions.

I hesitate to write this review, because I fear the longer wait times that fame and notoriety will undoubtedly bring to this hidden treasure. Sadly, the haircut I received here was so wonderful that I really have no choice but to tell the world. Not only was this the best haircut I have ever gotten - in my life - but the location itself is beautiful, comfortable, relaxed, and unique. The entire time, I felt as if I was James Bond, or a member of Kingsman, visiting my longtime Barber - who also happened to be a badass spy. TLDR; please give your business to the wonderfully talented Julio at his new barbershop so he never has to leave our neighborhood.

The facilities are amazing! They have heavy duty tables and super sized tubs that accommodate extra large breeds that easily fit my Great Dane. Prices are reasonable, and all my dogs absolutely love visiting with Freddie! Freddie does an amazing job on grooming standard poodles as well -- my white standard poodle has never had razor rash even though I keep him sheered close to his skin. In the 20 years and 3 states I have lived in, Freddie is the best groomer I have ever had.

I live in the neighborhood and decided to check out this place as I noticed it opened this week on 5/21. I was met by Julio the owner who was friendly, professional and talented. His attention to detail was refreshing and I left there with a great haircut. For $25 this is a no brainer. I’ve paid a lot more at other places for the same quaility and professionalism I got here. Julio said he will be adding a TV to watch sports and will have WiFi as well. He has a great location on Mass Ave with the #1 bus stopping in front of his shop at Hancock St. He’s open 8a-8p Monday through Saturday with hopes of being open on Sundays as well in the future. I will definitely be back and am excited I finally have a barber that I can trust and that I know is going to take his time to provide a quality haircut.

The decor is pretty awesome. It's one of the few places I've found near/in Cambridge that will give a more traditional face shave. The place is cash only, but there is an ATM inside the shop. There is also an alcohol cart near the door... Since it was my first time visiting (and it was 8 am), I did not ask for any, but maybe next time I will!

I always wanted to try this place because of the unique lavish ambience. And not to disappoint, while I was getting my haircut, I felt like a prince! The barber was stoic, quiet and serious. You’re not here for chit chat. You’re here for a great no non-sense haircut with attention to detail. Walked-in in the morning when it wasn’t busy. The barber moves slowly with knowing intention and patience. If there was a hair out of place, he’d take care of it without my telling him. Very happy with the haircut.
