Sly is the man! He does such a great job every single time and the vibes are completely amazing. I'm a woman in my mid 20s, and they never make me feel weird like other shops do. They are super attentive and will cater to your hair type and adjustments you need and request. I've been coming here for a about a year and half now, and I leave loving my hair cut every single time. Even his brother Cliff has cut my hair a couple times, and he is absolutely incredible and down to earth. These brothers are talented and so is the rest of their staff. People have tried to get me to go to other places closer to my new apartment, but Sly's will always have my loyalty!

Disclaimer that Sly did not give me my cut. I got one of his assistants. Sly seems like the best and definitely has his regulars. Fun shop. That said, my cut was serviceable. Fade is decent. But didn't line me up real good and a couple of stray long hairs on the top of my head. It gets the job done, but would not recommend anytime you need a for sure clean cut

Great place! Sly is very talented and can cut all types of hair and for women too! I had fairly long 4C natural hair (past shoulder length) when I went and he gave me a great Afro cut. Watch out, though because he cut a little more than I'd have liked but it looks so good that I'd definitely go back next time. You should definitely go with your hair stretched and combed though. Otherwise you'd be stuck combing it there...in front of everyone.

I stopped in for a cut on a Saturday morning just after they opened. I was seated immediately and got an attentive 20 minute cut. The barber double checked multiple times to make sure that he was cutting my hair the right way. Overall I had a great experience!

Cambridge local -- I've been coming here for years. Once you walk in you feel welcomed accompanied with plenty of seating. Very nice atmosphere inside and well decorated; there is usually some kind of movie playing or casual banter to keep you occupied. As for the haircut, VERY good and DETAILED -- just tell them what you want and they'll do it. They're not in the business of guessing what people want; they're far too busy for that. I always go in and get a nice skin (zero/bald) fade with it a little long on top and it's always done to the T. Very quick and deliberate, as long as there is not a line, which generally moves pretty quickly. I recommend this place to everyone including people that do not live in Cambridge. For $15 a cut it is unheard of and also unparalleled with the quality of haircut you can get -- especially for the area! Sly has been like family and always taking care of me and my fresh cut. I would give a 6 out of 5 if I could.

Stopped in today on my lunch hour. New to the area and needed to find a barber who can cut my hair the way I like as I am very picky when it comes to my hair cut. When I entered the shop there were already some other people there waiting on who I am assuming was Sly. He greeted me with a warm hello and informed us all sitting and waiting that he had help on the way. Sly did not cut my hair another gentleman with a thick Jamaican accent who by the way was equally as warm. I was super pleased with my haircut and ironically this was in spite of the fact that he cut it so quick. The finality was impressive. I almost didn't want to ask how much the hair cut was he deserved the twenty five dollars I paid my previous barber. I will definitely be going back. I found myself a new barber.

Fantastic Experience. I'm new to the Boston area and desparately needed a hair cut. They close at 6:30pm and I walked in the door at 5:45pm and the small place was packed, with at least 6 or 7 guys in front of me in line. As I sat and waited several more people came in and left saying they'd come back another day. Sly and his compadre Mike were doing the hair cuts. They were pleasant and funny and fast. Whipping out quality haircuts quickly. They were really friendly and respectful with everybody who walked in the door. Mike cut my hair. He did the cut in 20min. Listened to my requests and any particular things I wanted, was really patient and understanding with me as I asked him to tweak things. My hair turned out great, 4 days later and I am still really pleased with it. For $15 this place is definitely my new go-to barber for my stay in Boston. Highly Recommend.

I came in with a brown wavy mop of hair and told Sly I needed to look more professional. He smiled and said, "I'll hook you up." as he proceeded to cut my hair. 20 minutes later, I was ready to go. Sly had done an excellent job: Things were even and tight without any annoying fly-aways left behind. His barber shop has an open and friendly atmosphere, quick service and the price cannot be beaten.

I'd also like to point out that as of my writing this review, Sly has earned a full 5 stars from everyone, not 4.9 as Google indicates. The system can't even handle how good he is!

Definitely a place worth trying out. Great value for its quality. Sly is great black barber, but an ok hair stylist for other hair. It's a bit out of the way to venture out to, but the neighborhood is calm and quiet. Gets a little distracted when friends/family roll by.

I go to Tania for my natural hair care needs and she is so affordable and dedicated to pleasing her clients. She takes the time to explain to your what your hair needs and what will and won't work for your hair. Sly gets people in and out of his chair in no time flat. I desperately needed a haircut, and am quite picky, so picked Sly's based on the reviews in my area. I sat down, he took note of my already combed (if shaggy) hair and asked "Would you like to clean it up, or something different?" I confirmed that I'd like to have it cleaned up, but the same style. Sly nodded sagely and went to work. He is a master - I will say that without hesitation. He went to work and in a fraction of the time it usually takes, my hair was looking great. He was open to - and incited - conversation about the way my hair should turn out, what I desired, and what he thought would be the correct course of action. At the end of it all, I have the best haircut I've had in a very long time, and an absurd amount of free time since I assumed it would take a lot longer. Sly deserves to have a far larger shop and way more business. Even if his place is a bit out of the way, I suggest that you give him a try.

He had no problem w me asking to do more in certain spots. Sign said like $13 for a haircut, didnt even ask just gave him the $20. Well worth the time and quality.

I went here because it was cheaper than most places around. Sly cut my hair unevenly, leaving 4 inches on top on the left side of my head, and 2 inches on the right side, so I can only part it one way. Maybe this is a fashion statement, but I didn't ask for it neither did he tell me he was doing it. He also was watching somehow simultaneously listening to headphones in one ear, cutting my hair, and watching Boss Baby on the DVD player in the shop, sometimes taking breaks to watch scenes. I gave it an extra star because Boss Baby was a funny movie.
