As I’ve only recently pursued my beardsman status this spring, I found myself completely ignorant to beard health, styling, and product selection. Tubers and vloggers were super helpful along the way, but beyond that, I was just throwing money away at online suggestions. Yesterday I consulted a legit professional. Entering the Beardsmith by happenstance just driving by, I felt a little underdressed. The lighting and ambiance was posh in a masculine, cigar dipped in single malt sort of manner, with just a hint of tattoo parlor. The surrounding envelopes you with a sense that you’re in the presence of greatness. When it was my turn, I felt like the only person in the room. With that said, I was just looking for a better beard oil. I left with Beard Grease. I have about three inches of beard beneath my chin (just enough to wiggle real weird-like if I shake my head.) For styling purposes at this length, this stuff is freaking amazing. It is a little heavy on the beeswax so go keep some distance with the hair dryer, or you’ll get crispy. The flavor I chose is called Rough Cut. As a woodworker, I will attest that this stuff smells just like a skilsaw ripping a doug fir 2x6 in half. I love it. I soon discovered that felines give this flavor 5 stars as well. I the second I put this on my hands, my cat wants pets.

This place is awesome. Best spot in town for beard care, beardsmithing, and hair cuts and styles. Now here is the kicker, they are attached to a sweet bar with food, two stages, 2 bars, games and more. I even had a beer while getting a trim. The people are awesome also. They answered my beard care questions. I picked up some Haymaker Beard Balm and my beard is looking much nicer.

Such an amazing experience with Robert! To find a barber that cuts Mens hair so amazing and women’s hair is rare! I will definitely be recommending Robert to more people! Kinda sad when I heard the massager couldn’t be used anymore. But that won’t stop me from going to him, because I get good conversation, great work and at a great time! Robert was just fantastic, the conversation was great, the hot towels and essential oils were amazing. My head is nice and smooth and my beard is flawlessly lined up and sharp. But my favorite part had to be the shoulder massage finish, it's an old school touch for an old school style business and shows a level of care that you don't get with big chains or companies that are trying to turn and burn as fast as possible. Quality and attention to detail over raw speed is what you will find here

Booked a cut and beard trim here, had to be rescheduled and the communication with that was great, even gave me half off my cost. The shop was cool and I liked the environment, beard trim was nice, but the hair cut was pretty awful. Sides were all one length instead of faded, there were uneven spots, and the top was about 2 inches shorter than I requested. Basically looked like a longer buzz cut. I can get that anywhere else for $15... Even with the half off I was very disappointed in the hair cut and feel I paid way too much for what I got.

What a fun spot to get a trim. On a serious note, the Haymaker beard grease hasn’t let me down in over 3 years. It’s enhanced my marriage and friendships. My contractor now utilizes Beard Grease. Let me first start off by saying I’ve been searching for months for a good haircut spot. I have tried roughly 6 different spots around the Boise area and have never been truly impressed with anyone. Beardsmith came up on Google and I decided to give them a try, and I am from this day forward sold on their brand. Shoutout to Robert for an unreal cut, straight razor shave and beard trim. If you are looking for a true vibe of an atmosphere and the utmost knowledgeable and professional Beardsmith staff possible, this is your place! Did I mention the option to have a beer while you wait? It’s the fu**ing best. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Ryne has always been the one that did my husband's hair while at The Beardsmith. Then we started taking my son there a little over 2 years ago and Ryne is the only one he will trust and listen to, since right before him at a different place he was traumatized with a cut on his ear. We totally recommend The Beardsmith to any guy that may have a beard or not!

Pros: Best haircuts in Boise. Hands down. Friendly staff. Great music, decor, and atmosphere. Wide selection of great hair products for men. The store is clean. They treat their employees very well and everyone seems to be happy and take pride in working here. They take their time and don’t rush through your cut. No drama on display as can be the case at many other shops and salons. Cons: Can be tough to get an appointment on short notice with certain staff due to extreme popularity. Not the lowest prices for those looking for a cheap budget cut (but you get what your pay for). Website can sometimes be buggy at making appointments. Summary: I love Beardsmith. I wish I could get a haircut here every two weeks but it’s often hard to work into my schedule due to limited availability. Like an exclusive restaurant, it seems like every is trying to get in for appointments. I think they are expanding and trying to hire to address this issue. Despite all this, every time I go here, I’m reminded why I pay premium price, drive across town, and find a way to work it in to my schedule. There’s a reason this place is so popular. It really is the best.

I've only tried the beard grease so far, but I gotta say after 10 years of trying every beard product out there, this is by far the best quality and absolutely best smelling I've ever come across. I scheduled an appt for today for my husband almost two weeks in advance since it’s hard to get in on Saturdays. We live in Emmett and I was very disappointed to find out he drove all the way to the Boise location only to be turned away because his appointment was in Caldwell. The Caldwell location wasn’t even an option (they weren’t even open) when I made the reservation??! Looking back, he got the confirmation notification but didn’t look closely enough to see it said Caldwell but why would he? I didn’t schedule it there! This review has nothing to do with the quality of their services but they still should have been able to squeeze him in or something. Instead they rescheduled him for NEXT weekend and sent him on his way. They even said he wasn’t the only one it happened to today. How?? Super annoyed! Edited to add: Increased stars due to the owner’s quick and understanding response. Thank you Wendy! Greg will be in this afternoon - he’s really looking forward to it! 🙂

It's one thing to get a good result but the staff here are always welcoming and friendly. Plenty of parking, conveniently located. So after living in a lot of different places and experiencing a few places like this, I was kind of excited to see that Boise finally has a real full service shop. I didn’t get to find out. I called and no one answered, when I drove out there to check it out, maybe get a cut for my wedding in a couple days, there was one dude on site and he was busy. Said he was booked out for a month. He said someone MIGHT be able to get me the next day but I’d have to call in the morning and see. Look, I’m real glad you’re sooooo busy and booked, but either answer your phone, have n appropriate amount of staff or post on your site that you’re by appointment only. And get over yourself. Shop looks great and it felt like some of the better places I’ve been to in DC or LA. It’s just too bad you’re so cocky about it, I think you’re missing New business. And tell your staff to act like they want new business.

For the 1st time ever going to having someone trim my beard I expected a lot more. I ask for someone that had been doing it for a while. And found out it was not their specialty, military haircuts was. I won't say it was bad but it made me decide that I could trim my own beard. Even after I went back to have it evened up still not that satisfied for the price I paid. I paid for a service expected to be a client and felt that I was just there to help them as they talked between each other. My teenage sons have recently started going to Beardsmith for haircuts in spite of not having beards. The atmosphere is appealing for guys, and there are many talented barbers. One son had a bad haircut one time, but the owner was quick to address a training issue and the barber was new. The shop opens up to a bar/restaurant and men who are over 21 can enjoy a beer while having their hair cut and beard treatments. Prices are only a couple dollars more than places like Sports clips and the service and consistency is much better. Plus, it is a locally owned small business.

Wendy and her crew are talented and trained to the highest of standards of the beard and barber game. Update: I appreciate their customer service after finally reaching out to me I ordered their products and paid for 3 day shipping. It has now been about 7 business days and still no shipping note. I only live 30 minutes away. It shouldnt take that long to have something shipped. If you cant fulfill the order in the time that you have on your site then you shouldnt have that as an option. I emailed and dont ever get a response. I called and still no response. Disappointed I am out 10 dollars for shopping since I wanted it rushed here. I heard alot good things about their stuff so I spent about 80 dollars and unfortunately this will most likely be my last 80 dollars I spend here.

I am very particular in my style and came across the Beardsmith when looking for barbers with great reviews and booked an ultimate with Ryne. I appreciate the fact that he noticed my style and had an idea in mind even before I sat down in his chair. That gave me great confidence that he knew what he was doing and that he was also an artist at heart. Ryne absolutely crushed it! I look like a completely new man after he was done. Israel cut my hair and did an anazing job. I showed him a picture of the exact hair cut I wanted with a slight modification and he killed it. Ive been every where across the valley trying to get someone to give me the exact razor fade ive wanted and while some get close most seem to always loose focus somewhere along the way during the cut and get a little sloppy.
