I made an appointment with the highly rated James. The haircut was amazing and I’ve been receiving so many compliments! James took time to understand what I like about my hair and what I don’t. He did not rush anything. He probably spent an hour on me - shampoo, haircut, hot towels — amazing! I genuinely thing this place is fire. Very chic, full bar, spacious and warm. I’ve found my new forever barber!

10 out of 10. This place is amazing. My partner is a regular client to this barbers. He would show me videos and pictures and they would all look amazing. I travelled from the UK to get this trim. Trust me, it didn't disappoint. I had the pleasure of getting a pre birthday trim 😊 Kedar is a great barber. He is my partner's barber who I had the pleasure of getting my hair done. I didn't need to say much as Kedar already had an idea of how he was going to trim my hair. I wanted to keep my curls on the top and he was like cool. I am very particular when it comes to allowing someone new to trim my hair. I felt relaxed and reassured that I was going to walk out feeling amazing, and he wasn't wrong. The conversation, the hot towels, the homemade oil. Just amazing. From just walking in the door, walking down the steps, seeing the bar and being greeted. 10/10. If all barbers were like this, dam I would want to go every week. Again, the service from the bar. Perfect. If you are into chess, they hold chess games every Tuesday, they too. I had an amazing experience, I would definitely be back again.

My hair is extremely difficult to cut. It’s super straight and very thick, and you can see any imperfection because of that. However, Julie does such an amazing job! I get a bald fade, and usually foil clippers pull my hair. But that’s not the case with Julie. The cut is super smooth and even! As for the bar, these are some of the best drinks I’ve had in Atlanta, and Mika is an excellent bartender! I highly recommend coming here for a haircut or drinks!

Great atmosphere as soon as you walk in they offer you a water or a drink for you to sip on while you wait. James is that guy, love his attention to detail and you can tell how much he cares and always comes through with the best cuts. Would highly recommend him if you are having trouble looking for someone!

First time I came here, I was very skeptical because I am very particular about my cuts. I had an appointment with Wil and I knew I will come back in the future after the first 10 minutes of telling him what I wanted on my cut. He's definitely knows what he's doing and not only that, when you wait the staff there is very hospitable and will make sure you're comfortable while you wait in the form of drinks and/or something from the bar. Definitely would recommend 10/10.

The shop is brand new, features a full bar, and multiple TVs in a modern, yet classy environment. So I'm in Atlanta under less than favorable circumstances and due to time restrictions I rushed and got a bad cut. THANKFULLY I was staying at the Loews Hotel which landed me right around the corner from this spot. It's slightly intimidating from the window shopper perspective but I still stepped in like "Hey what a cool place what's the wait like?" Luckily they had an opening and this kind of what I'd like to consider my new ceiling expectation. Needless to say the they laid my situation out. I'm from The Bronx and if you've never been that means nothing if you have then you KNOW. The Barber Will was engaging beyond competent and just cool. I learned later from the guy who maneuvered me from looking around into a seat that all the Barber's are vetted for quality. So you saying I can't get a bad cut here? Yup. THEY HAVE A BAR. You read that right a bar not a beer and wine selection a bar with craft cocktails and everything.

My dude friends had a dapper haircut and shave while my lady friends and I had creative cocktails at the bar. Barber shop with a bar...why aren't these establishments everywhere? The cocktails were delicious, atmosphere felt upscale and welcoming. I will definitely be going back! I also feel like, if I were a man, I could really go for a refreshing clean shave then saunter my best self over to the bar for a nice smooth cocktail!

It’s perfect! A friend recommended I see James and I haven’t been to anyone since. James is a dashing sweetheart who truly cares about your self-image and experience. The vibe is upscale, contemporary, with elevated furnishings. The team is cohesive and professional. They host a chess night on Mondays and trivia night on Tuesdays. Very good service although they have increased their prices by 35% for a signature haircut in the last 1.5 years. I still love the ambiance and the barbers there. Tuan does a great job. Although since I've moved to little 5 points area there is a lot more competition and very good barbershops at a much lower price point.

Got my haircut here and could really tell the difference in quality from other places I'd been to. The staff here are super nice and professional. Their bar is great too! The Glamping in Midtown is one of my favorite cocktails in the city. They also have chess night here every Monday night. Checkmate Monday, as they call it, is genuinely one of the coolest chess events in the city of Atlanta itself. Worth checking out no matter your skill level! This is a really cool space in the heart of midtown. Super accessible by transit and easy to park at too

I love Kedar and the space is cool but if your going to charge $50 for a haircut then it needs to be the price listed on your website. I may still come back but it’s literally illegal to charge a different price than what you advertise. Totally understandable to raise your price during an inflationary period, totally unacceptable to charge a higher price than you advertise.

This place is unlike anywhere I’ve been in the midtown area. The services rendered both in the barbers chair and at the bar are literally the pinnacle of excellence. No smoke. It’s quite the concept and they take their craft very serious and are very humble at the same time. The Monday Night Chess Night is quite the Soirée. Cocktails and checkmates, good vibes and the Monday night games can all be enjoyed in this swanky but laid back atmosphere that leaves you feeling like you’re in some sort of prestigious club. Highly recommend, always a highlight of the week.

The Anguished Barber is a hidden gem in Midtown Atlanta. Boasting a full bar and tremendous barber services, I have been nothing but impressed. I’ll start with the location itself. So that you know, there is dedicated parking adjacent to the building (across from Joe’s on Juniper for context). When you first walk in you see this eclectic, basement level experience that is one of a kind. It is stunning and so unique! The staff (and whom I assume is the owner) is just amazing. You’re greeted like family when you come in and offered libations (coffee/water when the bar is closed). Now on to my favorite barber/stylist in the world: Julie S. To be honest, I would follow Julie to a dark parking lot in the rain to get her to cut my hair. She’s warm, kind and talented beyond belief. In the 7 years she has cut my hair I have yet to ever be disappointed. She is laser-focused on providing an amazing experience to anyone who sits in her chair! I cannot recommend this location enough. Go check it out, and spoil yourself! You’re worth it ;)

Went here in hopes of getting a botched haircut fixed and left very satisfied. I walked in without an appointment, and was in a chair within half an hour, but I do recommend making an appointment. If you do have to wait, there is a full service bar that makes waiting much easier. Everyone I spoke to was very nice and extremely helpful. Prices are higher than I'm accustomed to, but not unreasonable, and I personally found the music in the bar area to be a slightly loud and definitely not my style, but that won't stop me from going back. Got a great haircut and had a great overall experience.

This may very well be the best haircut I’ve ever had. The barber/owner Will sculpted my hair. He reshaped it completely and helped me best the George Jefferson syndrome. I’m sold. Pricing is great, they could probably charge double for the quality of the cut and the atmosphere. Very impressive business and the partners seem to have a great balance on how to run it. Everything about coming here was a excellent experience. The design and decor create a wonderfully relaxing, comfortable, almost saloon-like atmosphere. The staff is extremely friendly, professional, and welcoming. Wil Alecia has been my barber of choice for years and his skill and attentiveness always keep me coming back. My observation of the other barbers is that they too are concerned that you get precisely the cut you want and will work with you to ensure you're both on the same page. I think this is the only place in the city you can get a proper drink and cut.

The best barber shop I have been to. They are one of the only shops that seem to care about Covid-19 as they check your temp at the door, require masks, and have hand sanitizer ready at entry. The greeting is welcoming and the shop is beautiful. They also have a bar which I think opens around 4pm? I wouldn't know as I only go in the morning. Kris Madrid has been my barber for a few months now and I would highly recommend him. His attention to detail is top notch and he always delivers a great experience. 5 stars EASY.

Took 2 visits to realize how great this place is. I live about 30 minutes north of atlanta and I quit going to my normal barbershop close to home to try this place out. And it's WORTH IT. It was a price increase for what I was used to, but Luke's attention to detail and the time he took to make sure it was perfect was exactly what I expected for the price I was paying. The bar is small BUT a great selection of beers and cocktails. They always greet me with a smile and make me feel welcomed and show me how much they appreciate their customers. I’ve been a loyal customer of The Anguished Barber since it’s opening in late 2019. The place is on point... professional, friendly, on time, and CLEAN. Throughout the pandemic, they’ve done an amazing job of keeping everyone safe and healthy... taking temps at the door, requiring masks, plenty of hand sanitizer available, etc. On top of all of that, this place has a sweet bar with great beer, wine, and cocktails. I frequently schedule my cut/style in the afternoon so I can stay for a couple of happy hour drinks afterwards. Can’t say enough good things about this shop and the staff. Thanks for the great service!

I went yesterday for the first time and was blown away. The concept includes two distinct operations, but both are top notch. The bar in and of itself is cool, comfortable and high end. You do not need to go there with the intention of getting a cut. It is a sexy neighborhood bar and will definitely fit in with the Midtown crowd. The barbershop side has the same vibe, and the barbers are skilled. Definitely worth stopping in for a drink, cut or shave.

The shop is by far the most high end barber shop in Georgia. Upon entry I was served a cool drink and was escorted from the bar and across beautiful marble floors to a Immaculate cutting area. To top it all the barbershop has its own full bar that attached where you can get premium hand crafted cocktails, hell you don't even need to get a haircut, the bar is great place to hangout or host a happy hour.

Julie Santos is the best barber I’ve seen in 12 years of being in Atlanta. I’ve tried 4-5 different $30-50 barbers, and none match up. I went to her at her former shop, then when she moved to the Anguished Barber last year, I followed her. I wouldn’t spend this much on a haircut if the quality were any less. She’s the best.

Visiting The Anguished Barber is more than a great cut, it’s an experience. The consistent level of friendly service and attentiveness is excellent, and the level of detail of the barbers is noteworthy. Icing on the cake is the ability to enjoy a craft cocktail during your visit! Actually, it may be “cake” itself as I’ve now become a regular at the bar between cuts (cuts are not requisite)! What an amazing concept being executed by a great staff. The free midtown parking makes visiting from Buckhead a breeze, and this has become my go to spot/bar on my way to dinner, out for the evening, or headed back home. The high-class atmosphere is balanced with personal friendliness that makes this my own “Cheers.” I’ll see you there, just save me the far seat at the bar!

I have been to a lot of barbers in Midtown and this one is by far the best one I have been to. They have a full service bar in a newly renovated space that looks top notch. Obviously the most important part is the cut, I work a block away at Colony Square as an architect and style and a MasterCraft are things I greatly appreciate. They by far keep my fade cleaner and more on point than any place I have been too. If I could give them 6 stars I would.

Can’t say enough great things about this place. Excellent service, professionalism, and overall attention to detail. The staff is incredibly friendly and make you feel welcome. They’ve also done a great job with their COVID-19 precautions (temperature check at the door, mask requirement, hand sanitizer stations, etc.). In addition, they have an incredible bar - it’s nice to hang around and grab a drink before or after your haircut. Simply put, there’s nothing like this in the area.

Pre-Wedding Cuts + Shaves. Amazing. Wil, Mika, David and the entire barbering krewe are amazing. They hosted me and my groomsmen for my pre-wedding cut + shave and pulled out all the stops. Between the custom cocktails, the private dressing room, and a dedicated barber for each of us, there was no stone left unturned in getting the boys and me ready for my big day. I've been going to T.A.B since they opened and its always been a cut above, but what they did for me on my wedding day took the cake. Cant recommend highly enough. A+, 11/10.

Easy and plentiful parking options (unlike other shops close by). Reservation system is easy and professional. The entire space is very welcoming, comfortable, and easily accessible. This shop is in a great location in Midtown. The atmosphere inside the shop is like no other. I spent the last 5-6 months looking for a barber and I definitely found a great one. Fellas if you are looking for the clean cut, fresh fade you have to go to Sean. Sean is by far the smoothest and will get you looking sharp when you walk out. UPDATE: After posting the review below, David (an owner) reached to me directly apologizing for the poor experience. He was adamant on making things right by setting me up for a follow-up cut with Kedar. Kedar exceeded my expectations, even more so than I expected, and will certainly be going back to him for my next cut. Overall, I’m really impressed how David reached out and was focused on and genuinely saddened by my poor original experience. He didn’t make any excuses; he just wanted to fix it, which he certainly did. As a result, I recommend this place! ORIGINAL: I’m surprised this place has such high reviews. I went in asking for a pretty simple cut (taper sides and a little bit off the top) and the guy who cut my hair was done in 10 minutes. I don’t really judge off time but he did a pretty subpar job (he didn’t even cut some of my hair in the front). It seemed like he just wanted to finish as fast as possible. For what they charge, this is astounding. I could have just gone somewhere else charging half the price and probably have gotten a better cut. That being said, the venue is really nice, but that doesn’t really matter if the cuts are poor.

The Anguished Barber provides a best-in-class experience when it comes to grooming and selfcare. I scheduled my appointment with Wil, who is truly a world class barber who is in love with his craft. In my experience you want a barber who is passionate about their industry and Wil exudes that passion. The atmosphere is a great mix of Class and Comfort. The shave and haircut were outstanding. I feel, and look, like a completely different person. This was my first professional hair cut in more than a year. What drew me to the Anguished Barber was the noticeable difference in their COVID precautions, when I compared them with other Barbershops around the Atlanta area (I did some Instagram stalking). There was screening upon entering, everyone (including myself) wore a mask the entire time, and the place was incredibly clean. I am personally very cautious when it comes to COVID and am very selective on where I choose to utilize my “risk pool”. I have no regrets in using some of that risk pool with this experience and I will definitely be back soon.

While all haircuts in midtown carry a similar price tag the range in quality is enormous. My barber, Shawn, took the time and had the skill to insure my haircut was perfect in an atmosphere that can not be beat. The fade was blended expertly with sharp crisp lines contouring my face. I have not been a fan of Atlanta haircut pricing often charging similar prices to what I paid in New York but lacking in the product delivered. Shawn not only delivered on what I was used to in NYC he surpassed it.

A polished store front with a lack of follow through. The aesthetics are nice and the shop itself modernizes what a barbershop can be. In this case, it makes it a hangout akin to a men's club. There's a bar filled to the brim with all the alcohol you can enjoy. A single glace at the menu should please any young professional. It's in an accessible part of town -- though your mileage may vary based on where you're coming from, time of day, traffic and so on. TVs adorn the walls playing not your typical Sportscenter but actual sports themselves. The day I went it was golf and tennis. And a soundtrack featuring old school R&B, soul, classic rock and more plays softly in the background. All in all, it feels like a space in which you want to spend time. Now, for the bad. This was my first cut during the pandemic started since about March. For some reason, I wasn't keen on going to my regular shop which I'd only been to a handful of times. I like a long, naturally twisted or curled top with faded sides. I obviously specifically told my barber this. However, my cut ended in the shortest hair I've had since early 2019. Worse yet, my barber insisted that when I pik the top out that it would expand. That did not happen. Instead of losing an inch of curled hair, I nearly gained a buzz cut. Additionally, it took 75+ minutes to cut my hair whereas it takes my regular guy a little less than an hour and I don't even think he knows my name. The hair will grow back. Even still, this is the worst cut I've had in about a year. It feels as though paying $60 for a cut I despise is my punishment for not speaking up and saying "Hey, this is way too short." Needless to say, I will not be returning. Good looks can only get a shop so far. This is what I get for trying new things.

They were safe, cautious, clean, and like always the best service. I would not hesitate refering anyone there especailly in the current climate we are in.
