I recently moved back to the Valley after 6 years in another state, and I reopened my account with SunWest as soon as I got back. I missed them! I got exceptional service from Stephanie when opening my new account, and from Cindy when I needed an auto loan and debt consolidation. I never miss a chance to recommend these guys to friends and family. Do yourself a favor and join a credit union that actually cares about your needs.

Edit As the member of the marketing team said below, someone did reach out to me. There was a discrepancy on SunWest's part. Patrick, a member of the collections team called me and explained why I was being charged so much. They wouldn't have done this for 4 days and definitely not the same day that my insurance lapsed. They give it 90 days. That was just coincidence that my policy expired the exact day they charged me the $1060. He said that their records showed that I didn't have insurance since October, which the first associate did not point out. I sent them my policy number and they determined I was insured the whole time and are issuing a full refund. Had I not complained in this review this problem would have not been fixed and I would have been expected to pay the $1060. I switched the 1 star to 4 stars. I deduct 1 star for the first employees lack of knowledge and no interest into finding out why I was being charged so much for 4 days. Thank you Sunwest. I will continue our relationship. Original Don't let your car insurance expire, not even for an hour. They will hit you with $1060 add on fee for collateral insurance. I really liked this FCU too. Time to pull all my loans out.

Great credit union with a great staff. They know my name and say "Hi Donna!" when I walk in. I'm treated like a person, not just an account number. The branch was recently renovated and looks very clean and modern. It only takes $5 to open up an account.

I have a saving and small personal loan with Sunwest. I decided after a great experience with them time after time to move my checking account with Sunwest. while I was doing that I inquired about the possibility of refinancing another high interest personal I've had for a few years. I worked with Cindy Emery who didn't treat me like a number like big banks always have with me. She looked at my credit and situation as an individual. Not only did she help me get out of that preditoty loan I had, saving me hundreds a month, she then offered to look at my auto loan while we were going over my credit. Cindy and Sunwest cut my interest rate in half. One visit that day is literally saving me close to $500 a month. Wow, right? I was devastated as a small business owner during the last recession. I've been working so hard and paying so much in high interest to rebuild my credit and I felt those efforts were appreciated by Cindy and Sunwest. I've never had a better experience with a financial institution. I feel so much more at ease in life knowing I can trust and have a partner in my financial endeavors. A++++

Came in to open up a savings account here today. The location is very clean, modern, and inviting. A nice little perk is that they have bathrooms available for members which is rare for a bank. We worked with Cindy Emery and she was so funny, friendly, knowledgable, and inviting. She made the whole process very smooth and easy. You could tell any of the tellers are all friendly and ready to help. We even received our debit cards on the spot which i thought was amazing, usually you have to wait in the mail for them anywhere else. Glad we opened an account here and look forward to future visits.

I visited SunWest after work -- looking for a bank that invests locally. Although they were closing very soon (5:30 p.m.), Cindy walked me through the account opening process, got a debit card working, and finished all the necessary paperwork for opening a savings and checking account. Where do I begin? Went in for an auto refinance did not know what to expect. The process was easy, Cindy Emery was kind, very helpful and easy to talk with. Everyone was super friendly and helpful. Went into open a savings and checking account. Cindy Emery was awesome! She got me my accounts opened and also helped me to get a loan to consolidate some other things, at a MUCH lower interest rate. She is very knowledgeable and very nice. She made my day! Two words. Cindy Emery. THANK YOU for your kindness, thoroughness in giving me ALL my options (some of which other banks and credit unions either didn't offer or made me feel I HAD to buy), your patience and time explaining everything to me (sometimes twice) and making me feel comfortable. If you need a new account or car or personal loan, I HIGHLY recommend you ask for Cindy at the McDowell branch!! Fast, efficient and friendly!

Compared to my other credit union, SunWest customer service feels a lot like being at the big banks. Another person, another number, nothing that creates a more personable experience. Service is everything. It's the small things like a smile and greeting a customer with how are you. Don't even get that.

My mother opened a account many many years before we were thought of. She then by the time I was 8 opened accounts for my self and 2 brothers. Are cards had the feeling of paper. Lol. At that time you could write your information on a napkin and sign it, and still get what you needed. I am now in my mid 30's , and have passed the tradition down; to my 11 and 8 yr old sons. Best bank ever. Never a problem. I will keep passing the tradition down. As I grew up I have had many different bank's. Never changing my credit union Sun West. Still have not found one that can compete. I am happy my mom picked a selfless bank and always there to help. Also there loan program is great. Best idea I ever did; besides opening accounts for my kids. Look into Sunset they have some great members programs and not member one's as well. Never changing!!!

Been going here for over 20 years. NO "bank" is perfect! I have dealt with banks commercially and privately, this establishment is far superior than most! Not sure what Nancy is talking about.. how about details? You can't just make these accusations without details. Melissa.. messed up to your balance for two years now? Two years later... This is hard to believe considering your balance is their business.

Auto Loans: This will be our third. my wife and I had financed both our vehicles through Sunwest so when my vehicle was totaled the first people we thought of was them. We went in and they said they would call us when they had an approval. It took every bit of 30 minutes. My business bank took two weeks. Great rates and it is near the library ;).

Decent credit union, but don't expect them to ever go the extra mile. I was scheduled to sign papers on a loan, got held up in traffic and called them to let them know. I got there just at 5:30' but the doors were locked, and they just told me another time. McDowell office is great, but Mesa has a lot to learn about customer service. Average at best.
