We moved soon after one of my medical appointments. I never received a bill and had no idea there was an outstanding balance for anything. I got a statement from ATG in the mail today, saying I owned one of the physicians a balance. There was a delay in me getting the letter, as ATG had an incorrect address for me in their system that seems to have come from the doctor. I called ATG to figure out what the charge was from and how it may have gone to collections without me knowing about the bill at all, and ATG was patient and helpful. It seems the doctor had mailed my bill to a nonexistent address due to a typo. I was disconnected during the call and ATG called me right back. There was almost no wait time in connecting and I did not have to use an electronic menu; I talked to a person right away. It seems weird to leave a good review for a collection agency, but everything was smooth and fast, and they were able to confirm that because it was handled so quickly it would not affect my credit score. I appreciate their timeliness in alerting me to the error with my bill and giving me a chance to remedy the situation before any adverse consequences occurred to me or my credit.

While it's not fun to have balances in collections or deal with the aftermath of it to begin with, at least dealing with it can be a positive experience with the right people. When you hear “debt collector” you think of the people that are mean, harass you, dehumanize you, etc. I had an outstanding bill I somehow overlooked from 2017. My bad... 😬 and I wanted to pay this bill off! I went to the very easy to navigate ATG website and utilized the live chat feature. To my PLEASANT surprise, I worked with an awesome gentleman named Craig P. Craig did not make me feel bad, he genuinely cared, we even chatted for a bit! He was kind, patient, and very helpful. If you don’t want to speak to someone over the phone (or even if you do), pay your bill with/ask for Craig P. I would give him 100,000 stars if I could. Also, be kind when you speak to him. I received an email about settling a debt for an account I have really been wanting to get in good standing for a while! It offered a no hassle chat feature, so I clicked the chat button. I dealt with Holly Hernandez. She was very easy going & not once tried to harass me or hassle me into paying anything! I had a terrific experience with this company, particularly the online chat person. All of a sudden, they appeared on my credit report about a health care bill from last year that I wasn’t aware of. My husband and I thought we had paid everything, but this one slipped through that occurred a week before we all got hit with the pandemic. Thank you for finding out that I did pay the bill! Unfortunately, the health care provider couldn’t just check with us on the matter. They just want their money and with so many people being sick these days you would think they wouldn’t resort to these measures, but I remain positive through it all when you get good customer service in the end. I personally had over 15k in credit debt and compilated filing for Bankruptcy and take the easy way out as so many other do!!! I broke my ankle a little over a year ago and was off work for 6-7 months. I made payment arrangements on most of my medical bills and did the best I could to keep up with the balances after getting back to work. A few months ago TWO medical collections from ATG showed up on my credit reports. The postings claimed the bills went into collections 10 months ago and there was a $0 balance; which made absolutely no sense! I called and spoke with Alyssa who in turn spoke with her manager, Vanessa Perez. It was literally 10min before they were getting ready to close, but Alyssa assured me that she and her manager would do further research and call me the next morning. Guess what? THEY DID! As it turns out, the collections were posted in error! Vanessa issued a manual deletion to all bureaus. I was stunned! Absolutely elated! FIVE STAR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND PROFESSIONALISM ALL AROUND! The company calls but and when you answer, they are usually rude and do NOT identify themselves. I had no idea of who was calling until I googled the number, and from then on I had not answered to that number. However, tonight I had had enough of this, and chose to take advantage of their LiveChat feature. I had Holly H., she was quick, efficient, understanding and kind. She promptly got to the core of my issue, we discussed the information she would need and how SHE planned to resolve the issue. She was even kind enough to take my information so once she confirms the issue is resolved, that a notice of completion will be mailed to me. The only reason I cannot give 5 stars is because of their rude, disrespectful, and harsh toned collections people who call. I understand it is their job, but to be blatantly rude, I cannot stand by. HOLLY IS THE ONLY REASON YOU ARE GETTING A HIGH RATING. WHATEVER YOU TAUGHT HER, KEEP HER! PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU APPRECIATE HER AS AN EMPLOYEE. I've worked in a similar setting, and people like Holly are rare to find. I'm 1000% serious and welcome a personal email from her or her higher up so I can give her the glowing review she deserves. It's clear from other high reviews that Holly is called out as being wonderful as well.

For something like debt collection, which can undoubtedly be a real pain point for people, the customer service reps at ATG Credit are delightful to work with and very helpful in helping you get everything reconciled easily and efficiently. I only wish the original company the debt belonged too handled past due payments as professionally. I had a debt that was two years old I didn't even know I had until my credit report was run to refinance my house. Had I known there was a balance I would have paid it two years ago when it was due. The online payment portal made it easy to take care of the payment and an online chat with a CS rep to confirm everything was underway and get the proper documentation I needed to move forward with my refinance was complete in just minutes. Any company that needs assistance to get debts collected (after contacting their clients first) would be making a great choice to have ATG's assistance. Five star customer service!

But what they advertise is true - it wasn't uncomfortable or shaming and the settlement that Craig P was able to negotiate for me (within my current means) has brought such relief!
