Stopped by May’s looking to satisfy my sweet fix during my stay at the nearby Hyatt House. Lots of interesting baked good/pastry options. I grabbed some random items (chocolate crinkle cookie, blueberry scone and cinnamon bun) and all were winners…some of the best I’ve had. Prices seemed very fair ($2.75 cookies, $3.50-$5 pastries, and $3-$5 drinks). There also offer a variety of sandwiches which were about $10-12. There is both indoor and outdoor tables/chairs. The space is very neat and well-kept. All staff I encountered there were helpful and efficient.

We got carryout and took it back to our balcony. SO GOOD! The quiche was tender and moist despite being thicker than some cakes I have seen. The crust is clearly made from scratch and super good! We also got the chocolate almond croissant (killer!!!) a blueberry scone (yum!) and a slice of pineapple coconut Cake (yes for breakfast, it’s vacation!) which was stunning. Topped it off with raspberry white chocolate lattes and it was a perfect breakfast!

A really excellent little Pattiserie right near the beach. They have an ample selection of sweet and savory pastries and delightful staff to hand it to you! I highly suggest this as a relaxing place to catch a breakfast which they serve all day. Their quiche was served hot out of the oven and was super light and fluffy.

May's Parlor is a good place to stop by for a quick bite and coffee. Has the vibe of a quaint beach style coffee/pastry shop. The pastries were tasty and fresh and the daily specials for sandwiches (see attached pics) were appetizing as well. Parking is limited, it's probably best to walk in.

After searching for a longgggg time to find someone to do a "wedding cheesecake" for our wedding back in October, we finally found May's Parlor! We frequent there often on the weekends for their tasty coffee and bakery items, but had not realized they would be able to help us with our catering needs! Racheal (unbeknownst to me that she was the owner) was absolutely AMAZING to work with! She got us a beautiful cheesecake for my husband and I to cut at our reception and small mini cheesecakes for the guests! She was even kind enough to offer additional assistance for drop off and storage so that our order would not be sitting out all night while we were enjoying our wedding festivities. After realizing she was the owner, I asked her to call me so I could personally thank her for all of her help! She is running an amazing, not so small anymore, WOMAN OWNED business. Everyone should check out her oceanfront and new Norfolk locations! Thank you so much again to Racheal and her staff for such an amazing experience!

My favorite local spot for fresh and amazing pastries and lunch. Great tea and coffee selection! Porch, outdoor and inside seating available. Staff is always kind, inviting and courteous. Highly recommend!!

After looking for a coffee after first night staying at VA Beach, I was blessed to discover this quaint, little coffee shop a few steps from my hotel and the beach. Coffees were great and so was the cinnamon roll my family shared. Couldn’t recommend more.

We ordered takeout here 3x while on vacation for only 5-6 days at VA beach. That's how good the food was. All the locals know about Mays, which is always a good sign. What we ordered: 1. Breakfast sandwiches - Delicious. Generous amounts of bacon and egg, good spread and good buns. Get some! 2. Lunch sandwich - was just okay. Generous amounts of salmon, but was a bit salty for me. I might just not be a fan of salmon caper sandwiches, so it might just be me. 3. Danish - AMAZING. My favorite. Wife brought an air fryer with us (don't ask) and 4 danishes in the air fryer for 3mins, and it's Perfect. 4. Croissants were good. Cookies were sieable but we're just okay, not amazing and not bad. Croffins were okay. 5. Latte drinks were good

We took several things to go to try, and everything we had was just delicious! especially blueberry and orange chocolate scones, just amazing, the way scones should be done! Haven’t been able to find a good scone so far, but this was it. Creamsicle and lemon poppy macaroons were also very good, perfect texture and so refreshing. And of course croissants, so good, especially warmed up. Almond chocolate was our favorite.

The smell as soon as you walk in will make you spend all of your money. Everything from their coffees, to pastries, to quiches are absolutely amazing. But I think my favorite is their breakfast sandwich. I don’t know what they put in those bins but holy moly it’s the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had. & it’s actually filling!!! Truly a hidden gem at the oceanfront!!

Really cute little bakeshop ! The pastries are always tasty and the staff is super friendly. They have seasonal additions like the peppermint cruffin. Nice area to sit down inside too, even though it is small.

If you live in Virginia Beach or are visiting Virginia Beach and haven’t been to May’s, you’re missing out! This small, locally owned business is the literal best. They pour their heart and soul into their baking and you can tell. Everything I’ve had from here has been so delicious. It’s my boyfriend’s and I’s favorite place to treat ourselves to on the weekends. Their pastries, the quiches, everything is melt in your mouth delicious. Yes, sometimes there’s a line but they do pretty well to serve you quickly. There’s an inside and outside seating area. Local approved.

If you are staying down by the Ocean front, this is the BEST spot to stop in for a bakery good, cafe style sandwich, or hot breakfast item. Very cozy. The pastries and coffee bar are the best in the Virginia Beach area. As a local, I highly recommend a visit.

Good place, but we were a little disappointed based on the 4.9 star rating by others. The pastries were decent, but didn't quite meet the level of other reviews unfortunately. I wish we had sampled a greater array of food while there, but our 3 items were all in the 3-4 star range taste-wise. We happened to be in Virginia Beach the day a tropical storm arrived, and May's was a great place to warm up and dry out! The decor and atmosphere is very cozy and welcoming, and the staff was excellent.

Right off of Pacific Avenue, this place serves up some of the best pastries and breakfast treats. Their Bacon Egg and Cheese is by far one of the best I've had. All locals in VB should already know of this place, if you don't, make a plan to visit very soon! If your a tourist passing through our fun city, be sure to give these guys a try, you will not be disappointed!! Enjoy!!

Loved the pasties. This was the first time being here. Everything was tasty. The scones may have been slightly drier than normal. The prices were elevated a bit. But definitely worth visiting at least once. The best was the chocolate almond croissant and the cinnamon roll muffin/croissant

Easily the best bakery on the oceanfront. I’ve been coming to Mays since it first open and it has become one of my most recommended places to friends and family. Their quiche is my go to but I’ve loved all of their sweeter pastries and their veggie breakfast sandwich. Great customer service and high quality baked goods!

Amazing best bakery I've been to. I had the blueberry danish and my fiancee had the fruity pebbles muffin. Both were great, we were on our way home and stopped for breakfast, but man do I wish we weren't. The customer service and decor were lovely, and there were plenty of options. I highly recommend for a sweet treat, and thank you May's parlor for giving us something to look forward to on our next trip!

May's Parlor is absolutely amazing! The staff are beyond wonderful; so helpful and sweet. And the food is incredible! I had the BEC with garlic aioli on an everything brioche, and my mom had a slice(chunk) of broccoli cheddar quiche. We were absolutely delighted by our visit! Will definitely be back to try sweets!!

Everything we got was delicious! The bacon egg and cheese sandwich was one of the best I’ve had. You can even see the lemon zest in the lemon poppy scone. Latte was also very good. A little bit pricey, but well worth it in my opinion.

This is now my favorite little shop at the oceanfront!! The pastries and quiches are phenomenal. I think I shed a tear when I tried the chicken pot pie, it was so heavenly. The shop has a really nice cozy vibe, and I loved the owner's backstory too. Love seeing young women entrepreneurs out there crushing it!! There is soooo much more on the menu that I want to try, can't wait to come back!!

We love supporting small businesses whenever possible, and this place is definitely worth it. Staff was friendly and gave the right laid back vibe. The chocolate croissant was probably the best I've ever had. Bacon and cheese sandwich is served on a homemade brioche bun. Skip the touristy places and come here for breakfast or lunch. Cakes and other desserts looked amazing as well.

Such a great place! Fresh baked pastries and quiche with awesome coffee. The jam tarts are amazing and so fresh. The staff is very friendly and you can tell that coffee, baking and hospitality is their passion. Very nice ambiance inside and on the front patio overlooking the action on Pacific avenue at the oceanfront. Very cool local vibe coffee shop!

One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever tasted. The bread is amazingly soft. The eggs are fluffy and light and made with love. Tastes like someone's grandma is back in the kitchen making breakfast. I will always stop here while in Virginia Beach.

We love May's. Our first time coming was during a hurricane for hurricane pastries. Second time was today to get birthday pastries. The pastries are innovative and we appreciate the GF options that they have. Staff is super friendly always. Everything always looks and tastes good in the display case and will be happy to keep coming.

This is an adorable and AMAZING cafe. The coffee is great, especially with the house made syrups. The food selection isn't massive, but with as much attention they paid to what they do have on the menu that doesn't matter. The chicken salad sandwich I ordered had dill and lemon in it for an interesting twist on a classic. 100% would recommend to come at least once, but you will probably need more than one trip to sample it all!

May’s Parlor did our dessert for our wedding 5/6/22 and it was amazing!! We had so much variation on our dessert table (cheesecake, 3 tiered/flavored cake, tarts, macaroons) - I do not have professional pictures yet to post! Everyone was in awe at our wedding about how amazing these desserts were! The tasting and planning was so easy, Racheal was so responsive despite being so popular! We love this place & will continue to visit them on most of our weekends for the best baked goods in the area!

I got 2 lattes (Salted Maple White Mocha + the Caramel Apple Pie latte) and 2 macarons. The lattes were pretty good and the macarons were also tasty. Although, the chocolate ganache macaron wasn’t very flaky on the outside meringue. Since the inside is very chewy, I like when the macaron is crunchy on the outside - whereas with this one, it all sort of melded together. Although it wasn’t crunchy on the outside, the flavors were still delicious. The latte was okay, though I could probably take it or leave it. It’s a cute spot by the beach to try though, just be prepared to wait a little while. It seems to be a popular place, so you’ll likely run into a line. I’d recommend stopping by if you’re in the area.

I followed them on Instagram for awhile before visiting. Missed the store driving by the first time, turned into Arctic and parked in the back lot which is very small and has very few spots. The girl behind the counter was super nice, I got their weekly special: peach grilled cheese and peach salad and two reg iced coffees - total was $42 before tip which is pretty steep but I get it, gotta pay that Oceanfront rent. Coffee was very fresh, food was made to order but I probably will not be back in the nearest future. Will check their Norfolk location which should be less pricey, I would imagine.

One of my all time favorite pastry spots and now lunch! Rachel and her amazing team never fails to disappoint! The warm cozy atmosphere sets a light airy mood even on the gloomiest of days here at the beach! Everything is honestly so good, my favorite would have to be the pb&j cookies and the amazing croissants ! I have always wanted a little cafe close to home to enjoy some tea and pastries as i did in europe and this is only a bike ride away❤ do yourself a favor and take your tastebuds on a delightful and well deserved trip to Mays parlor!

A hidden gem at the oceanfront and my absolute favorite place for coffee. The best breakfast sandwiches in Virginia Beach (try the roasted veggie!) and every type of sweet pastry or dessert you could ask for. The rotating, house-made syrups make for delicious lattes served by the friendliest baristas. Get there early if you want to see their full pastry selection, they usually go fast.

Please note I did not eat here. I am merely submitting a review for the celiacs out there. I stopped in and found the gf selection very lacking. I saw nothing labeled as GF so I asked. The woman behind counter was very friendly and told me they have jam bars, something PB, and macaroons. They also sometimes have gf bread. 😐 I was not impressed, especially after reading reviews about their gf selections. 🤔 While I greatly appreciate that they offer something gf, I will not be eating here as it did not strike me as a place safe for celiac. Instead, it struck me merely as some place that wanted to cash in on the gf fad. That being said, it was a quaint little bakery that offers breakfast as well as pastries.

I stopped here for lunch during my bike ride today and I was not disappointed! The service was so friendly. I ordered the chicken salad sandwich and a cup of coffee. The sandwich was absolutely delicious. Before I left I decided to get two chocolate marble cookies to go. Those were so delightful. I will definitely be coming back.

I ordered to go/tipped the girls and they didn’t even gave me a bag for my food. I had to ask and they seemed annoyed about it. As far as the food goes the croissants are amazing. I am not a salad person but if you haven’t had their kale salad with chicken salad you are definitely missing out but be prepared to spend $15 for it. They have additional charges for everything.

Great bakery/cafe just off the boardwalk two blocks. Definitely worth walking over. Good variety of pastries, and the latte was better than anything I've had at other, better known coffee shops. On top of that, the workers were actually pleasant and friendly. If you are in need of a morning cup of something, consider this place over that other place a few blocks north. Much much better experience.

Great little spot! They only allow 4 customers in a a time due to Covid, so be prepared to wait a bit out in the sun...so worth it though! We had the BEC and the Smoked Salmon...OMG...amazing! We also ordered the chocolate almond crossaint, cold mocha, and mint lemonade. IMO the lemonade was too sweet, so I just added water and tasted fine. Next time we're in tow, we will definitely stop by for breakfast again!

I have loved everything I've had from here but the scones (they are just a little meh on flavor)...I would probably punch a baby for the strawberry brioche...the strawberry shortcake croissant may be one of the best things I've ever eaten. The cheesecake, the pie, quiche is AMAZING...OMG the cinnamon rolls... Truly...every is amazing...except the scones.

Went here for the first time on recommendation. I ordered a regular coffee, hazelnut flavor. I didn't realize they add the flavor as syrup to whatever coffee you order, so it was extremely sweet and I couldn't drink it. Their breakfast sandwich options are limited to sausage and gravy or ham and eggs, no vegetarian options unfortunately. So I got their pain au chocolat, and that was good. I'll give them another try and revise this if I have a better experience.

Definitely our favorite cafe in Hampton Roads. Everything they make is delicious. Their croissants are just like the ones you would get in France, if not better. The cakes are super moist and not overly sweet. The pastries are fresh and buttery. Their coffee is strong and creamy. The staff is delightful and helpful. Just overall, an exceptional culinary experience.

Absolutely LOVE this sweet place. Our first experience with them was a surprise delivery of their "cooped up" pastry box! OH MY GOODNESS EVERYTHING WAS AMAZING!! A few weeks later I went to check out the bakery for the first time and was greeted by a very kind young woman, who patiently waited as I picked out my box of pastries and a smoked salmon croissant!! VB is lucky to have this sweet little bakery. Their food and pastries are beautifully crafted & undeniably delicious. We ordered online for pickup, and really enjoyed their huge snickerdoodle cookie, delectable cinnamon roll, chickpea salad sandwich (vegan), & smoked salmon cobb salad. The chocolate almond croissant tasted amazing as well, but was a bit dry for our tastes. I’d still go back for another. I also had an iced hazelnut coffee with soy milk and my husband had an americano, both of which were wonderful!

Best chicken pot pie! The crust is decadent. Also, I had their strawberry chocolate mousse pie and that was absolutely delicious!! I topped it with an iced coffee with coconut. Clean environment and friendly staff! Definitely going back for more!

Small cozy spot on the beach! They have a few parking spots in the back and a few on the street but when this place gets busy you’ll need to get creative. They only allow four human beings inside at a time, so prepare for hot sweaty outside waits. The pastry are kinda pricey, but good. I would say the sandwiches are the best thing they have. It’s worth a visit to try but I won’t come back. Four pastry and two sandwiches was $50.

This hidden gem is tucked away beside a Subway on Pacific. Great selection of pastries, cookies, pies, and quiches. The chocolate chip orange zest scone was amazing, as was the quiche. My kids enjoyed a cookie and a pain au chocolat. A welcome alternative to a certain coffee shop chain that’s located on every corner, airport, and grocery store.

Our opinions ranged from delicious (the savory danish) to average (blueberry muffin, BEC breakfast sandwich). I ordered a large latte, but got a regular and one sweet item didn't get added to our order. If you're placing a big order, I recommend making sure the full order was clearly understood (I'm sure wearing masks also contributed to the order mix ups). I recommend trying it out if you are in the area, but not particularly worth making the drive only to eat here.

We got the BEC sandwich which was very tasty. Bread was very soft in the center with a nice seasoned crust. The eggs on the sandwich were very light and fluffy. The onion aioli sauce was very good as well. We also got the chocolate almond croissant and the cream cheese cinnamon roll. Both were delicious. The croissant was obviously fresh. Coffee was a bit bitter but hot. Cute little bakery. Staff was nice!

The stand out to me at this place was the lemon Betty cookie. My God ! Sooooo delish! Randomly found May's with my mom. We walked in, the lady at the pastry station saw us and didn't acknowledge us until we placed a order. Didn't feel that welcome there and customer service is huge to me ,but the cookie and the bacon egg and cheese saved them 😊. Also they had a strawberry and cream latte. Super cute interior design! My daughters and I stopped by here for an afternoon treat. We were greeted at the door by a case of delicious looking pastries. After a few moments of deliberation we decided on the cinnamon roll, chocolate chip banana muffin, and a chocolate and almond croissant. We also had a latte and mint lemonade. The girls said their treats were wonderful, the cinnamon roll was flaky and buttery.

It's our favorite café in the whole Hampton Roads. We drive 45 minutes to get the most delicious pastries and an amazing brioche breakfast sandwich. It’s a small space but definitely worth waiting for a table inside. It’s cozy and friendly.

This place is BY FAR one of the cutest and most delicious coffee shops I've ever gone to! We went here every day of vacation we liked it so much! The owner is so nice and both the croissant sandwich and blueberry lemon cake I tried were delicious! I also tried the iced mocha which was amazing...not too sweet and just chocolately enough, but you could still taste the deliciousness of the espresso! She also serves Harvey and Sons tea which is some of the best tea I've had (I've previously had multiple types of their tea and never been disappointed). I would come back to VA Beach just to go to May's again!

The pastries and food here are legit. They had the best coffee espresso I could find near the boardwalk. It's not outstanding espresso, but it is good, and that's after trying about four other coffee shops near by. We could walk there in 5 min, so they became our breakfast and coffee stop. May’s Parlor is a favorite for my husband and myself. I am always sure to tell anyone visiting the area that this is a stop you must not miss! The almond croissant is my favorite and their seasonal quiches are to die for! They always have vegan pastries available that are equally delicious, and although my husband and I are not vegan, we often enjoy the chickpea salad sandwich for lunch! I surprised my mother and MIL with May’s Mother’s Day box and they were raving about the chicken salad. Whenever I go, the staff is always so friendly and happy to answer any questions I have. Whenever I visit, the owner, Racheal, is always working there too. She really puts her heart into the business and it shows!

Food was really good, but they really need to work on their menu display. There is a VERY small menu at the counter that is very difficult to read that shows their breakfast sandwiches. Maybe they only want to focus on the pastries?!? Excellent pastries, and really good breakfast sandwiches.

The selection is always incredible - traditional pastries like croissants, pain au chocolat, brioche danishes, and more creative pastries like chocolate covered strawberry cruffins and savory danishes. They have sandwiches, quiches, soups, and great coffee. Menu changes often which is great for locals looking for something new and exciting to try from this talented team of bakers. Service has always been great. It is my choice spot for coffee and a pastry as well as for pies and cakes during holidays. A wonderful local business worth a visit! Get there early though if you want your pick at the day’s pasties - they sell out of popular items quickly!!

Have been frequenting this wonderful bakery for the past few years. Two favorites are the quiche and the pain au chocolate, but over the past year the pain au chocolate has become a real disappointment. There appears to be half the chocolate inside and it makes a noticeable difference. So much so that I will no longer buy them and will look for another source. So unfortunate. I have been DYING to try this place for MONTHS. The other day my friend and I decided to come here for lunch. We called ahead to see if they were open and to see if we could sit outside to eat. These ladies set up a table specifically so we could eat outside. The food was AMAZING. I had the turkey bacon pesto sandwich and it was so good and FRESH. The customer service was on point too. I will definitely be back soon for some pastries as well (which I haven’t stopped thinking about since I’ve seen them in person). Mays parlor is hands down best small batch French bakery in Virginia Beach! Haven’t had a thing there that I don’t love. I’m so happy they are still open these last few weeks despite all the hurdles this pandemic has posed on restaurants and bakeries like theirs. We went this morning for breakfast sandwiches and coffees (best way to start the weekend!!) and let me tell you, the line was most definitely worth the wait. They are allowing 4 customers inside at a time and have a line with Xs marked on the ground for 6 foot spacing to appropriately allow for social distancing. Staff all in masks and masks encouraged for all guests. Thank you for everything you do Mays Parlor and how you are working to stay open and still provide customers like myself with incredible coffee and pastries! Support local and go wait in line with a mask for some yummy treats, it’s worth it for sure!

This is my favorite little bakery in all of Virginia Beach (probably the world). It's tiny and quaint inside with just a few tables, it's in a little refurbished cottage right by the oceanfront, but there is more seating outside on the deck and on the patio. There are a few precious parking spots behind it in the shared lot with Subway and another business but there is plenty of parking on the streets nearby and it's free during off-season for locals. May's changes up the flavors of the items weekly and has some signature things always and then seasonal items on the menu and features weekly special lunch/breakfast/pastry items weekly. Check their Instagram and Facebook for the specials and the flavors. I love that she makes her own syrup for teas and coffee, makes macaroons and pies and cakes, and has seasonal items sourced from local farms and nearby produce. This is a real gem. Rachel, the owner, takes real pride in her business and is always on-site managing the day to day and making sure everything that comes out of the kitchen is delicious. They have the best quiche I have ever had in my life. Literally every flavor is amazing and the crust is the best. Noms!

May’s Parlor is a delightful little spot at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront. From their adorable lemon-themed cafe, they serve amazingly delicious pastries, breakfast, and lunch – their “cruffins”, macarons, qnd chicken salad are not to be missed, and their cinnamon roll is the best I’ve ever had, anywhere. Oh, man. I can’t even explain how ridiculously delicious that thing is! Wash it all down with an excellent cup of coffee (prepared just the way you like it) or iced tea. They’ve also done an amazing job of keeping us all in treats as we’ve been in quarantine, and have clear signage posted on their front door on how to proceed now. Give them a shot – you won’t be disappointed!

Stumbled upon Mays on a walk on the oceanfront. Ended up taking home a wide spread of pastries. Not a single item was left by the end of the day. On top of that they have the most delicious specialty coffee syrups. I have been back multiple times and have yet to have a bad item. The place is super crowded and I thought they were gonna have more breakfast options - they only had sweets and coffee and two sandwich options that didn’t really sound appetizing. I went with my sister and she tried to order the valentine’s special that they posted on Instagram but they got her order wrong and said they actually didn’t have the special that they showed on social media. Coffee was alright. Probably not coming back. The vegan bar I had was pretty good.

We washed it down with blueberry basil iced tea, coconut limeaid, and an iced mocha. It’s currently under construction and very limited on inside space, so be prepared to wait in line - but it is so worth it!

Our first visit to Mays was shortly before the Pandemic was recognized in Tidewater. Mays adapted so quickly and so thoroughly to make sure their customers and staff were safe. I personally will not give a businesses who acts lackadaisical about Covid19 my patronage. This place is incredible. The Cruffins. We drive out at least once every couple weeks for a box. They were out of cruffins on our last visit so we got crinkle cookies instead. On the Ocean Front lies this cute little coffee and tea shop laced with sweet pastries as far as the sweet tooth can see. If you love lattes so far this is the best place to come get your lattes on the beach as it’s a grind and brew.
