Rating: 4.2 Stars This was my first experience The Donut Stop. A coworker brought in donuts, and she invited me to try some. I had the Vanilla Long John and the Apple Fritter. The Vanilla Long John has solid flavor, and it was a bit denser than other Long Johns that I have had. The vanilla icing had a great sweetness. The Apple Fritter was pretty solid. I am not a big Apple Fritter fan, but there weren't too many options left for me to choose from. This Apple Fritter had generous apple slices. Ultimately, I would get it again. Frankly, given my love for Pharaoh's Donuts, I never would have thought to come here. I'd like to go here to get fresh donuts in my favorite flavors to compare this to other donut shops. Pharaoh's Donuts is definitely superior to The Donut Stop, but this is a solid option for sure in St. Louis if you need donuts.

I've tried most of the donut shops in St. Louis, and Donut Stop is in a close battle for being the best one! They don't make anything super fancy, but still manage to have an overwhelming selection of donuts. The raised donuts are perfectly soft; cake donuts have a nice, moist texture; filled donuts have a good balance of dough to filling, and are not overly sweet. Not a single donut that I have tried here was short of excellent. To my fellow donut connoisseurs visiting St. Louis, don't hesistate to make that trip to South County. You won't be disappointed!

Have been a donut stop regular for some time now. Recently I needed to place a bulk order (~450 donuts) for an event. The Donut Stop staff was accommodating, kind and thorough. The donuts were ready when I arrived for pick up. The donuts were fresh and incredibly good (as usual). Even if it's a bit of a drive for you to get here, trust me, it's worth the trip.

One of, if not the best donut shops in Saint Louis! They are known for their fritters and Cinnamon Globs (both are enormous!) and they carry an amazing selection of donuts on a daily basis. Good prices for the quality you get and if they don’t have something visible, be sure to ask as they may have it in the back or put it together for you right then. As with any donut shop, be sure to get there early as they sell out very quickly in the morning, especially weekends.

Call ahead, and reserve a peanut butter flavor filled donut with chocolate topping(think icing filled type peanut butter Reese's cup). The sugar high, and the deliciousness willl make you fly.

Great little donut shop. My family have been customers for a long time, my grandparents used to live just down the street. To this day - they have my all time favorite donut- the glazed donut with the cheese custard on top with a sprinkle of nutmeg. THE BEST EVER! I try and get it every time I come in town.

Hands down some of my favorite donuts in town. I originally went in a couple years back to try out the globs, they were good, but I revisited and went a more traditional route with vanilla sprinkle long john. They nailed it. I had no idea they could be so perfectly made. My big thing for donut shops is that they gotta be open 24hrs or something close to in order to be on my top, but I'll make an exception for The Donut Stop.

LOVE, love, love this place I live quite a distance, but make a 30 minute pilgrimage to our favorite donut shop. Friendly staff, fresh delicious confections. In my opinion, the best chocolate cake glazed donuts I've ever had. When you take a bite, the outside has slight crispness, then inside light airy, moist crumb. Their plain glazed are also great, yeasty light with a lot of flavor for a plain donut. For those of you who like jazzier donuts, they have a great variety that will not disappoint. Definitely worth the trip.

A good place for classic donuts. Last great fried pie location in St Louis. Go there for donuts if your close, but the fried pies are worth the 1 hour round trip it takes me. Go early for the best selection.

I came to St. Louis to visit family. At the airport my wallet was lost or stolen, not sure. One morning a week into our trip I woke up early and wanted to surprise the kids with donuts from a real donut shop. I borrowed a family members car and drove out to the Donut Shop. On arrival I realized, oh yeah, my wallet is gone. I gasped as soon as I walked in the door, even before picking out donuts. I said "im so sorry, I cant believe I forgot I have no way to pay. I lost my wallet." I had not picked out a single donut yet! I had only been in the shop 20 seconds. But still the owner said, "pick out whatever you want, its on me. Its my shop." I couldnt believe their kindness. I got a dozen donuts and the kids and family LOVED them. I was so appreciative of their kindness. Thank you.

Awesome Customer Service! I had ordered and paid for a dozen donuts, some specific ones, for a friend's birthday. When I went to pick it up the next day, they couldn't find the order. When they found the receipt, they were out of the donuts I had requested. Not only did they offer to make a special birthday order, they delivered it, for free! This is going above and beyond. I'm afraid to share my favorite thing about The Donut Stop in fear that y'all will sell them out. The cinnamon glob is where it's at! It's basically a cinnamon roll that forgot what it was doing. It's a ball on cinnamon dough, fried, and then glazed. Get one for yourself for today and tomorrow, and then another to share with a friend. My last visit, they were sold out of cinnamon globs (probably because the secret got out when they were just voted best donut shop in Missouri by Food and Wine magazine) so the next best thing is an apple fritter. This day, they had a blueberry fritter complete with actual blueberries! Cinnamon roll was a bit dry, so not the best substitute for the glob.

While they are not my favorite they are worth the calories. I think one reason this place is so popular is it really is an old fashioned donut shop. The product is good however just one question, as to way businesses change the content of there product that has gotten them the customer base it has acquired or why change what the parents have done to get business to where it is today. If it helps great but don't forget what got the business to where it is today. Like the filling of some items here, it use to be you got just enough to cover the whole inside of the donut but this trip it was cut back to a drop it seemed, look American businesses I didn't ask to be put on diet because if I did I wouldn't be visiting most of the food shops today so stop shrinking my food serving. But this shop is still a great place of frendly family feel type of folks so it's worth the less filling of a donut because they are convenience fast and friendly not stiff like some places.

Best Donuts In Town Hands Down. Never had a bad experience until today. They were out of Donuts at like 1145. All I said was you guys should put a sign on the door saying your out or either close early and she said "I Don't Care If You Walked Here Or Not If You Don't Like It You Don't Have To Come Here" I understand if it was a busy day, it's the first day of school, I get it. Should've just closed early if they couldn't keep up. They had no Glazed or Longjohns or Jelly Donuts and all they had was fritters and chocolate donuts. I messaged the Facebook page about it in a respectful manner and I got blocked in return. Was never trying to be a pain and they won't lose my business over something so silly, but the owner Tim needs to at least acknowledge what I'm saying and try to prevent this from happening in the future. Hey I'm just one guy in their eyes I'm sure...But I'm a loyal customer and always spread the word about the best Donuts in town. If she wouldn't have gotten rude, I never would've left this review in the first place. 5 stars still though, no hard feelings even though they blocked me like children.

Sitting down with an apple fritter and a cinnamon blob now. This is hands down the best mom & pop donut shop I've ever been to. I've been from Wisconsin to Texas, Florida to Colorado, Thank god donut stop is in the middle! Its a every Saturday thing for my family. This morning there were an estimated 12-15 people in line ahead of me and it still only took a short time of 5-10 minutes and I was heading home with 2 dozen of their amazing donuts. I used to go to this donut shop with my grandpa when I was just a pup. Now I get to take my pup in for a treat and I can only hope they are still around so my son can take his kids as well. I remember sitting in the back peeking into the floor and watching her fill donuts with custard or smear icing on long john's and then if I was good, getting to pick my two favorites. St. Louis has lots of great doughnut shops but this one is at or among the top of the class. It's received national acclaim and it deserves every good thing anyone has said about it. I like their strawberry doughnuts and their pumpkin doughnuts in the fall. They have just about any variety you could think of, plus some you wouldn't. The prices are really low and the staff is very friendly. They're always very patient and nice to my kids.

Just visited the Donut Stop for the first time today and oh boy, I will be back! I haven't had a good donut since I moved here from Los Angeles about 8 year ago and miss my mom & pop donut shops, until today! I just moved into Carondelet, MO about a month ago and haven't had a craving until now, we googled donut shops and these guys popped up. 10 minutes later I had a box of donuts in my hand.
