Service wasn't very friendly this time. The cake donuts were delicious but the cinnamon roll was very dry unfortunately. Unusal experience this go around. Will try again and hope for a more welcoming customer service person.

Strange Donuts is a wonderful donut shop! I have been going there for years since they first opened and they have only gotten better over the years! They are a fun, caring place and I love their dones! Especially their Stranger, like the one in the picture, that involves a collaboration with other local restaurants! These guys are amazing! Amazing local donut shop with vegan options. Make sure that you call ahead to reserve ahead, if some vegan donuts are what you are after. They will sell out first mainly due to how delicious they are. Don't miss out on testing your sweet tooth at this nice little donut shop. Must visit if in the area.

Always love seeing what new flavors they have. The Dunkaroo done was exactly what I hoped for! The staff is always friendly and helpful. Get there early if you don't want to miss a flavor!

Conceptually, this place is very unique and trendy. They have some really interesting and often superb flavor combinations. Their raised donuts have a very good texture, with excellent balance between firmness and softness. The cake donuts have a decent texture: the chocolate ones tend to have a little moisture, while the vanilla ones which they build many of their creations/strangers on top of tend to be really dry and flavorless. They allow the excellence of the toppings to dominate, but I'd like to see them put a little more effort into the heart of the donut, which is the DOUGH! Despite this critique, I've had enough excellent donuts here to give them a well-deserved 4 stars!

The kids working the counter was super nice and helpful. The donuts were great, particularly the glazed one. The cake donuts were just a little bit on the dry side but I'm willing to attribute that to us arriving later in the morning. The gooey butter cake donuts were a standout for me. Get a coffee to go with it. They are very sweet.

Overall good experience. Very friendly staff and a nice location. The interesting thing about this place is that every month they change up their flavors. There are a couple that stay regardless of the month (i.e. long johns and rainbow sprinkles), but the others disappear after a month. This can be a great way to change up the flavors and get to try something new! However, it can also somewhat disheartening when you find one you love.

We stopped here last month after visiting my wife's cousin in Florissant, and the donuts are amazing! I had the Maple Bacon which had the perfect mix of salty and sweet. My wife and our daughters shared the Butterfinger one, which they loved! I tried a bite and it was delicious. Keep up the great work!

They often have new flavors, but they go fast in the mornings! Their staff seems to be just as fun as their donuts, so be sure to checkout their social media! (Maybe not for you if you’re a Karen)

I have a terrible weakness for donuts, and this place does not disappoint. All sorts of novel flavors. The only difficulty is choosing which dozen you're going to binge eat in one sitting and then deciding how many laps you have to swim to burn them off.

The girl inside was very nice and friendly! I got the ding dong donut. I thought there would be more buttercream. It wasn’t until I was almost done eating it (at the edge of the donut) that there was cream. The majority of the donut was dry. I kind of felt like I wasted my calories on something that wasn’t very good.

I always love coming here, their donut flavors are all so good and never feel too heavy for me. I wish there was a daily menu on their website to show which flavors were available that day, but I'm honestly never disappointed when I go in.

Mediocre at best. Ordered 6 different doughnuts and only 1 of them was really good (which was a chocolate flavored one). The rest were very meh and some even had a weird after taste. Even their signature blue doughnut with sprinkles wasn't too amazing to come back for. Probably won't go back (except for that one particular doughnut) and would rather go to the supermarket for better tasting doughnuts.

The donuts are really good! I called ahead and the donuts were ready when I got there and I was in and out quickly! A few critiques: The gooey butter cake tasted just like a generic frosted donut. The "coffee cake" donut is not coffee cake. It's a coffee flavored donut. Coffee cake is generally a cinnamon streusel cake. Otherwise, it was all pretty good!

As someone with food allergies, places like this make me feel safe and understood. The recent uproar from Karens who think food allergies are a genuine disability is just goofy. This place's honesty and relatable marketing makes it a solid 10/10.

So GOOD and FRESH! I don’t typically get creative when it comes to donuts so it took me awhile to try. When I read the owners story and how it all came to be, I wanted to support the local business. Awesome business to support and great tasting donuts. Even the “strange” combinations will surprise you with how well the flavors go together. Very quick service too.

I warmed the chocolate-iced chocolate cake donut in the microwave and it was SO good! But, the standard glazed donut was disappointing. The glaze cracked so easily that most of the glaze fell off of the donut (but it's possible that this was due to me warming the donut in the microwave). I walked in expecting the prices to be high, because their flavors are creative like Da Vinci's donuts, but the prices weren't bad at all. The chocolate-iced chocolate cake donut was definitely a good value!

Wonderful donuts in a variety of interesting flavors. The staff in the evening is super friendly and informative and you can tell they have an interest in their trade. I enjoy the cleverness of the donut ingredients and the clothing with donut themes. Save room after eating in the area and stop by here for dessert.

Heard good things about Strange Donuts so the family and I decided to give it a try. I ordered the Maple-Bacon Donut. It was delicious. It was such a yummy, 'breakfast-like,' cakey, sweet, salty, fantastic donut. It felt like eating pancakes with syrup and bacon with a donut altogether! Can't wait to come back and try another sometime.

Updating my review based on the new dough recipes they're using (changed in fall of 2019). My one complaint for Strange was their base dough, which didn't do justice to their creative toppings and spirit. The updated dough is excellent and competitive with any other bakery in the area. I've always loved their attitude and concept and I will now be going there regularly. Great work guys!

They change out the strange flavors and every time I go in I basically get one of everything and even the strangest ones that sound like they wouldn't be good (ie gushers) is always amazing! It's nothing fancy inside but the donuts are the star of the show anyways! Worth a try...it won't be your last time!

Walked here from my apartment, waited in line for 10 minutes (only 1 person/couple in the store at a time for social distance) 3 donuts and 2 nitro coffees for under 10 bucks. Awesome experience. My only gripe is that there should be a bigger size for the coffee for us caffeine addicts. Love this place!

They bring something as strange to the donut scene as voodoo. The donuts are high quality and the selection is not what you'd get from dunking elsewhere. It can be a little more expensive than other places and not everyone is into maple bacon but still a good place overall.

Strange Donuts certainly does excel in its variety of flavors, though the particular variety on a given day is limited to a handful of flavors and the quality of each flavor can vary significantly. The physical location of the shop is a bit claustrophobic, with only room for about 10 people before the line is out the door. The line also moves slowly since you can only really see the selection once you've gotten to the register. Overall, I feel that Strange Donuts is a bit overhyped.

I was worried about going here after seeing a few of the bad reviews on Google, but after checking them out for myself I had to leave a great review. I went to Strange Donuts with my girlfriend around 10:30 on a Saturday halfway expecting the donuts to be dry since they were close-ish to closing time, but they were very fresh and very good. The staff was also very friendly and went out of their way to make both of us feel welcome. We will definitely check them out again for some strange flavors!

Strange Donuts is one of my favorite places in town.The staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful, even when the line is crazy, which it usually always is, at least late at night when I go. Every time I've gone the donuts have been fresh and delicious and I've never been disappointed. I've taken friends form out of town here and they loved it as well. I am not sure where everyone else seems to be going. I love this place!

Three stars because they do have vegan donuts available sometimes, but they aren't the best. From all the hype I expected something more. The workers are very sweet and they did have the vegan donuts when I went in after calling about it the night before. I wish they tasted better, but it's nice having the option.

Strange Donuts has the most amazing donuts in St. Louis! You can also get gift cards for the office and family and friends! We love the unique flavors and they have something for everyone like the classics and then the Lavender Lemonade, PD Datties or Chocolate Guinness donut!

Strange is.... well.... strange. I have to say that hands down - the interactions I have here are some of the most entertaining and friendly in town. It seems like every employee is genuine, fun, and not afraid to talk. The donuts selection rotates monthly and always has some oddballs that are fun and some that are outrageous. If you are feeling frisky ask what the 'Stranger' of the day is - it will be something outlandish. My only problem with Strange is that, as much as I love the interactions I have here, I rarely actually love the donuts. I don't know if it's the way that they have to make vegan donuts or what, but they are often dry and rely heavily on frostings/fillings to come up with moisture and flavor. Also, most filled donuts disappoint when it comes to quantity of filling. The chocolate cake donut is the safest bet on a regular basis. Great company (which supports a rad non-profit called Strange Cares), great fun, and meh donuts.

Strange is one of my favorite places in St. Louis, PERIOD. They've redefined the donut industry with their atmosphere. I suggest getting to their location early. It's a popular spot, and their donuts are not unlimited. The weekends are a great time to go. Their "Stranger" of the week is a donut fused with some other food from a local eatery. Sometimes they sound disgusting, but end up being one of my favorites. I highly suggest the Blueberry Cheesecake or Mexican Hot Chocolate dones. Their donuts are generally seasonal and the menu changes monthly, so you may not get a Mexican Hot Chocolate until winter time, but it's my favorite by far. Their coffee is roasted by Kaldi's Coffee. GET THIS COFFEE. I consider myself a coffee snob and, I have to tell you, I buy a bag of these whole beans the moment I run out. It has an incredible flavor.

Look really good and employees were amazing and fun to joke around with. The donuts were okay but the frostings on them made up for the dryness. In general though donuts are a very different kind of dessert, so don't expect a brownie like substance, expect dough and kind of dry.

My friend and I had a great laugh at how average these overhyped donuts were. We arrived pretty early in the day but were still told that the selection was slim due to us showing up so late.....? I'm not too crazy about the shop as there's nowhere to sit down and eat your overpriced flour, however the employees were awesome and very friendly. Perhaps too friendly as they stopped a dog owner from tying his dog to a lamp post outside and encouraged him to bring the dog into the shop. I love dogs to my core, but I never want to find a dog in my donut that would be traumatizing albeit cute. The hunt for the world's best donuts will never end at strange donuts; a previous reviewers comparison to gas station donuts was ridiculously accurate.

Strange but cute little shop in Maplewood that has friendly staff and vegan donuts on the weekends! Wish they had them all week long! I stop by here as often as I can for a fresh tasty donut (or a dozen). Their vegan chocolate long johns are nothing short of amazing. The vegan donuts run out fast so call them before heading over (they may not have any left).

The donuts weren't as strange as we'd hoped, but they were tasty enough. Gooey butter donuts were a bit dry but perked up nicely when dunked in tequila. Coconut cream donuts just got coconut bits in our drink and didn't really benefit from the experiment. A tequila filled donut would live up to the Strange Donuts name. If only. We'll visit again in hopes that perhaps that idea will have some legs.

I got to try a new donut! Well, a donut that was new to me. It was a yeast donut with a cream filling, peanut butter glaze and chocolate sprinkles. The cream tasted just like the pudding you can buy pre-made at the grocery - to me, it has this underlying flavor of plastic. So, I wasn't crazy about that....but the peanut butter glaze was the perfect flavor to help cover that up!

I love Strange Donuts because it's the only place I can get a maple bacon donut, a gooey butter donut, a Butterfinger donut, or any other thing you could possibly imagine (call ahead, because they only make certain donuts certain days & the menu is ever changing!) Got a picky (boring) friend? They still have plain old iced long Johns (called "Fat Steves", of course), donut holes, & sprinkle donuts for them. You have to go here at least once!

Go to Strange for the experience, not the donuts necessarily. It's a fun place, and they've done a GREAT job marketing which keeps you coming back every weekend for the newest "stranger". They keep it elusive with the "9pm til sold out" hours. It's all about the experience here. I realized early on that, while not the best donuts in the world, I keep on going back for some reason. Why is that? It's because they make you feel like you just HAVE TO GO every week! They are great at pumping you up via social media and when you get there it's just so exciting to wait in a line and HOPE they still have what you want by the time you get there. It's all about supply and demand. I'm never "let down" by the donuts, but by now I just know what I'm getting with strange. The "strangers" are hit or miss. They make really great cake donuts, but there traditional yeast donuts are a must-skip. Nothing beats a warm Krispy Kreme original glazed... nothing. I have had a few that I just love there, snickerdoodle, strawberry-filled with chocolate on the top... mostly I just go to try something new and vibe of the atmosphere. I think they have a great idea and a great brand, just maybe need to hone in on perfecting the recipes a bit, having a bit less dry, moist delicious donuts. All in all, I'll keep going back and supporting this business because I love the concept and their drive!

These donuts are literally so delicious and expensive I had to unfollow their Instagram. Do check it out though, as the weekly “Stranger” is almost always a total knockout. The everyday menu won’t disappoint either, and I’m told they recently started frying their doughnuts in the more traditional manner, making them even more heavenly. Try to arrive just as they open so you can grab a warm one, and definitely bring friends so you can try them all!

Went on a Thursday night and tried the gooey butter donut and the pumpkin donut. The gooey butter donut tasted like popcorn butter, and some of my friends hated it while others thought it was really tasty. The pumpkin donut was good, but fairly standard. For "Strange" donuts though, I was expecting more strange concoctions. Basically all the donuts were cake donuts, and the ones that we did try were okay, but not insanely good or original. Most of them turned out to be just donuts with some random stuff on top. Didn't get to try the chicken donut being a vegetarian. :( But that one looked interesting.

Rays donuts is a break off of the delicious Lamar's donuts in Kansas City. They specialize in large fluffy donuts. About twice the size of a Krispy Kreme. Two donuts from them will fill up Any reasonable person for breakfast. The shop is spacious, so if you eat there, you won't feel rushed to clear your table for somebody else.

Yas! Always a stop when I’m in St.Louis. The only thing better than their social media are their donuts. They keep the scene fresh with monthly specials, but maintain the core offerings like gooey butter Incase you have visitors from out of town and want to kill to St. Louis birds with one “done.” They Get Customer service and community involvement. I have no issue spending my time, money or calories here. It’s all kinds of right.

I have been to donut shops all over the Midwest including St. Louis area. You name it, Greenbush Madision WI, Doughnut Vault Chicago, Donut drive-In Stl. This place rocks! If its your first time I would stick with a few classics of course. The reception is very helpful and will make a variety box for you. Like the atmosphere and music. Harold's donuts are classic, but can get boring because they never have anything new. The two stores fill opposite niches. Strange's hours are way better. I get up early but it's hard to park downtown and meter maids make me avoid it during the day because who carries quarters? So don't usually go unless I will be there for awhile in the evening. Harold's is just not easy with my work schedule. Yet the problem with cake donuts is they dry out rapidly at either store - so early morning is still best. If a cake donut is dry...I just throw it away.

Thursday nights are when they introduce "strangers," which are their amazingly fun donut creations.
