Reviews of Gus' Pretzel Shop
Mara L.
Gus' Pretzel Shop = a St. Louis must-visit.
My husband who is from the area introduced me to it and what can I say? I am hooked 😉 warm, buttery soft pretzel bites. Our favorites are the garlic butter and cinnamon sugar ones. They also offer delicious brats that are baked into a pretzel - do it need to say more?
There is always a line, especially on weekend. You can also purchase it frozen and warm it up at the comfort of your home.
I highly recommend this place!

MUST STOP location in STL if you like pretzels. Me and my family have visited this place multiple times and it has always been great. Don’t get discouraged if the line is long. They have very fast service. Highly recommend the bratwurst as well as the pretzel twists. LOVE THIS PLACE!!
David
We walked inside without a clue of what to get and we left with a vivid description of the entire menu. The staff were very helpful. We ordered the Salsiccia and Cinnamon Sugar Pretzel Knots. Both were out of this world.

I have been coming to STL for 20 years now, and have now just stumbled upon this KNOWN gem. The line out the door makes the anticipation grow more as you wait for your affordable and DELICIOUS pretzel(s).
For $20 a group of 6 of us had so many left overs we didn’t know what to do with it.
Make this stop, along with your arch, cards game, and IMOs pizza stops.

So good!! We found by accident as it's in a neighborhood. Staff was young and not super friendly. But the pretzels more than made up for it! Delicious! We loved reading about the long history of Gus and his pretzels. We will definitely go again next time we're in St. Louis!!

Great place for quick and cheap eats! Expect a line (that moves quickly) around actual lunch time. The staff is courteous and knowledgeable of the menu. Usually get a jalapeño brat and some pretzel ends with cheese. It's neat to watch them making the pretzels behind the glass. Simple food that gets the job done. The drink options and prices are meh. But the pretzel stuff is where it's at! Nothing fancy, order your food, pay, it gets put in a paper bag, and you're on your way. Good stop to hit if you're checking out the brewery or just in the area.

Gus' has great pretzels, but make sure you have them warm and fresh!
I got the pretzel sandwich which had a fresh and soft pretzel, fresh carved turkey, and it was nice and cheesy! And only $4!! Crazy
The service was super quick and nice ! Thanks for the midday treat :)

The girl working was sweet and the service was quick. As for the pretzel it tasted like a pretzel. Maybe 9f o had gotten something that was a specialty flavor it would have been interesting. But it most reminded me of getting stick pretzels in high school, and no I didn't go to school in Missouri

Love Gus's pretzels they are to die for . I stop all the time when I head that way . It's a must stop to eat ..👍💯 …

I hope they never close! We love to buy bags of frozen pretzels to take to bake at home. Been enjoying Gus' since I was a child and we would get them from a seller on a corner in the city when we would drive by one.

Best pretzels, brats, and other sandwiches in town. Great experience. Been going there for 74 years with family and friends. I met all the “Gus’s“. Wonderful family.

Love it! Best pretzels in town, especially the hot dog pretzels, which remind me of the ones we used to get in downtown Stuttgart. Yum. Parking can be tough since the lot is tiny, but turnover is fast, and street parking is available. The kids love watching the process through the windows to their kitchen. Worth a visit, or more!

A delicious pit stop in the city with the famous Arch.
On a previous visit to St. Louis, I came across Gus’ and tried to stop in for a quick pretzel before a concert. Sadly, it happened to be the one day they were closed. Fast forward two years and I drive by Gus’ while on the way to The Mud House and see that they are open! I made a mental note to swing by after getting my caffeine buzz.
It was a nice day out, so I parked a little before Gus’ to enjoy a nice walk before getting some food. I noticed there was a small parking lot next to Gus’ that would allow maybe 4-6 cars to be parked there. Along the street, there is some parking as well. So, if you go during a busy time, parking may be a bit of a chore.
Upon going inside, I quickly noticed that you could watch a machine and a worker make the pretzels. I find these to be fascinating to watch, as it gives you a sneak peek behind the scenes. There is another place in St. Louis that lets you watch soda being bottled. That place is called Fitz’s over on Delmar.
Snapping out of the trance of watching the assembly of pretzels being made, I hopped in line and poured over the menu. There is a $5 minimum to use a card and I only had $2 in cash on me, so my options were limited. I settled on a Cinnamon Sugar pretzel once it was my turn to order.
There is no inside seating, so this place is definitely a grab-n-go kind of place. Since I didn’t want to get cinnamon sugar all over my car, I managed to find seating across the street at a restaurant that provided chairs and tables outside. This means my car stayed pretzel-mess clean!
How was the pretzel? It was pretty okay. The cinnamon was more of a heavy paste with thick chunks of cinnamon and sugar. It was almost too sweet for my taste. Delicious still, but very sweet. I think my glucose levels went up 100 points by the time I was finished with. The pretzel base itself was alright. It didn’t wow me with a ton of flavor but it also didn’t leave me unsatisfied.
The menu also had some quick-grab items on top of pretzels. Brats, hot dogs, something called salsicca and a few other strangely named things. Like, what is a Ted Drewes? I may have to go back and find out firsthand. Gus’ was packed with workers and people grabbing lunch, so their food menu beyond pretzels must be amazing.
What will a pocket full of change get you in a big city? If you are in St. Louis, it can get you some pretzel sticks and sticky fingers. If you have a bit more in your wallet, you can order a full lunch to satisfy your hunger.

It's been a number of years since I last visited and it's still as good as I remember. I had Jalepano Cheese Brat and regular twist. Extra yummy!
Elle Dawn
I come all the way from Scotland and this is always my first stop in STL! great pretzels sweet and savoury don’t skip it
Chris Falk
Gus' Pretzels is always a stop at make when going through St Louis. My dad grew up in the neighborhood and I live in StL the first 12 years of my life. Gus' were sold on street corners, 6 long, thin pretzels in a brown paper bag for a couple dollars. Their prices haven't changed much. We bought 6 hot stick pretzels for $3.90 and a 10-pack of frozen twists to take home and bake for about $4. Walked out of there for under $9. You have to stop at Gus' Pretzels when in St Louis!!
Victoria Garrett
Got tall pretzels. Their was a line to order and a line to pick up
Matt Abeln
Not only is this local GREAT STL
food establishment but the employees are great also. Everytime I come in I am always greeted right away and not only that whenever Gus is there he personally comes to the front of the store and talks to me for 10 or 15 minutes. This is what CUSTOMER service is about.
chad Williams
It's a St Louis institution ran by amazing people if you don't go here at least once you're cheating yourself out of life little pleasure
Brent B
Best place for pretzels in St Louis. Not open on Sundays or Mondays.
Hussain
BEST Pretzel I’ve ever had. Rode 30 minutes on a scooter to get here and it was worth the trip. Highly recommend the sugar cinnamon bites.
Jim Shelvy
There is no pretzel, like a Gus' pretzel! This St. ICONIC destination has been making pretzels for nearly 100 years. With a deep history in St. Louis, this place had become a must see. You cannot hardly come to St. Louis without trying a Gus' Pretzel.
I sound like a commercial but it's become our family tradition to head downtown for a pretzel on Sundays.
I've added some pictures from #nationalpretzelday2018
Philip Gawlak - Realtor
A St. Louis tradition! While taste is always subjective, I highly recommend the salsiccia sausage pretzel “sandwich”
They have a very friendly, well trained staff. Right across from the AB brewery, this is definitely a destination not to miss :)
Peggy Schmeiderer
We took pretzels and cheese to our family gathering. Made my own currywurst and had a little Oktoberfest. I had been craving Gus’ for a while, it’s always worth the trip!
Joe Gooch
ST Louis classic here. Try the pretzel brat its amazing. Best pretzels but they have no shelf life the 50 pack is for work or gatherings not to last the week.
Asia Elliot
Parking wasnt the best but the pretzel sure was and the prices were low. I got the jalapeno bratwurst. With cheese sauce it was so good. It fed my carb addiction
Justin Wooten
I like to trick my wife by setting the GPS to Gus's instead of the store. When we get there, she has no choice because EVERYTHING is so delicious. Always my pre grocery shop snack.
Terrance Grant
Stixs were hot out the oven wish we would have gotten them with no salt.
Sarah Hilker
We love Gus's! You can watch them make pretzels and then join the crowd to order. Love this StL staple!
Oliver Spencer
I got the Bratwurst and I will tell you this is a match made in heaven, not only with a delicious pretzel to an amazing sausage, but also a happy customer to a fantastic store.
Alana M
Amazing, Incredible, Family-oriented, Small Business, and a million more positive things. This pretzel shop has my heart and my stomach. The food is delicious. The staff are great. I'd support their business everyday if I had the time to run over there and grab a snack or some lunch. Highly recommend. Will be returning ASAP. Everyone should give it a go! Please check out Gus' Pretzles! It's worth it and priced very well!
Kevin Below
I heard this was a St Louis most try and that is definitely true. Strong tradition and a consistent philosophy along with great customer service. We got to see a peice of how special this place was as the customer in front of us had some secret baked goods for the owner/staff. Then got to hear how amazing the family has been over the years and see first hand how this has been passed down throughout generations. Doesn't feel like you are going to a pretzel shop, feels like you are stopping by one of your family's houses to grab some amazing pretzel. Will not go back to St Louis without stopping in.
Stephanie H
You can't go wrong with a pretzel dog and some cinnamon sugar pretzels and icing. The perfect treat after paddle boating at The Forest Park Boat House! 🤩 …
James Brankov
Pretzels are My absolute favorite food!
Fantastic Service from smiling faces and Delicious, Soft Pretzels!
Freshly made, in house! Watching the process happen in real time, Is very intriguing!
Just the right crisp and salty, outside and that hot and soft inside! I had the "Wurst Wednesday,"A freshly made pretzel wrapped, bacon and cheese, bratwurst!" A fine combination! Try their Pretzels anyway, they're all deliciously crafted! Definitely will be back soon!
Kurtis White
Gus' pretzel shop is a local staple. Swing by and you will see why. Experience history as you watch the staff twist , turn, and bake up a localized tradition. Quick attentive staff who are up beat and fast. Not only can you grab a bag of pretzels for the work crew or family I frequently get lunch here. Try bratwurst or salcissa inside a pretzel with a Fitz root beer and cup of spicy mustard and your set. Tip. Wednesday is wurst Wednesday with cheddar bratwurst for a great price!
Anna Kenyon
Best pretzels on town! You've to go! The delicious baked smell❤❤.
Brent Punch
I got six pretzels for my friends from Grafton Illinois I don't think they've ever had your pretzels I'm so excited to give it to him tomorrow at church well I ate one of them myself but don't tell anybody they were alarm 2 I've been having your pretzels since the fifties when I was a little boy there was a man that sold him on Gravois and Lindbergh and when we drove by to go to my grandparents Farm in the country I would beg my parents my dad please can we stop and get a bag of three I think there were $0.25 1956 and occasionally he did thank you
Marty Hinton
Drove 100 miles today for Gus's Pretzels. Was worth the trip. Great pretzel sticks and the bratwurst wrapped in the pretzel dough is one of the best things I have ever had.
Cindi James
I knew I always loved the pretzels and today I tried a smoked cheddar bratwurst. It was very tasty and flavorful. Line went very quickly. Parking can be a bit tricky however with a little patience that makes it much easier.
Larry Larry
Gus's pretzel is a St. Louis landmark & is great! Been going there my whole life. Over 40 years.
Von Winfrey
Awesome St.Louis original. If your visiting. Must make this your stop. I love the brat wrapped in a pretzel.
Hannah
We go here all the time!! The pretzels, drinks and others are cheap! A little upset that they aren't open on Sundays but it is a day of rest. It's an amazing place and I hope it stays forever! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND when visiting or just anytime!
Pamela Smutney
Great place to stop for a snack! Kids loved watching them roll the pretzels. Reasonably priced as well. Only downside is not much parking.
Geritol Pagan
Wow! This place is so much fun, & I felt very welcomed as soon as I walked in. The employee, by the name of Holly, is the most AWESOME person ever! She gave my partner & I a brief info of their history, info of the menu, & more. The pretzels here, so a MUST HAVE! Like wow wow wow!! Highly recommend this place, & everyone should totally try this place at least once. Very pleased!
Sara Stadler
The pretzels are so good. They always have something new to try. Parking isn't great but you are in and out. It's a staple for family that visits from out of town. Prices can't be beat either.
Chris Johnson
A St.Louis tradition Gus's pretzels is the best great for lunch with a pretzel bratwurst or sacicia or a quick snack. I always love going here!
Douglas Birk
Where else can you get artisan pretzels freshly made every day AND affordable specially made to order letters and shapes... Only Gus' Pretzels! The smell reminds me of old grand German bakeries of the past, if you have never had one, today is the day to get yourself a couple, oh, and buy more, cause your friends will want one too!
Sarah Hannan
Love the Pretzel Dogs! I come here every time I’m in St. Louis!!
Jaz Robertson
They've been around forever. All their pretzels are good. Even the frozen ones in stores' freezer section. Cinnamon Suger is my favorite kind.
T Dooner Dooner
Oh my goodness. Yummy yummy. Pretzels are so amazing. Bratzels are heavenly. Go to Guy's.
Karrie Miller
Gus' pretzels are the best!!! So fresh and well worth the stop! And the employees are super friendly!Thank you Gus'!
David Hodge
Great experience. Amazing pretzels. A sure stop when visiting St. Louis!
Robert Gerhardt
Confession! I'm 74 years old and I'm ashamed to admit that in those 74 years I have been to Gus's pretzels only once, last Saturday. It was walk up inside ordering. No chairs no stools no counters. But then, pretzels are Street food and these are the best I've ever eaten. The soft dough pretzels and the Italian sausage pretzel and the bratwurst pretzel are absolutely knock me over great. Once it is the place to go for a street food order when you don't have a lot of time. I think i that they are worth at least twice as what they're charging. Enjoy!
Clifford Morgan
It was nearing lunchtime and my friends had recently recommended that we try a very unique, locally owned, St. Louis establishment, Gus' Pretzels, for a quick lunch. Gus' is located in the Benton Park neighborhood of St. Louis City, in the shadow of the famous Anheuser-Busch brewery, at 1820 Arsenal St., 63118.
When you visit, you will find a very popular local eatery and carry-out spot for delicious home-made pretzels and sandwiches. Gus' proved to be a big hit with my wife and I. Sandwiches are the specialty of the house, and the choices are numerous. The sausage (hot dog, bratwurst or salsiccia) are my favorites. In keeping with the pretzel theme, these sandwiches are not served on a bun, but, rather, encased in a freshly made, warm pretzel stick. In addition, they offer a full variety of other sandwiches served on fresh, hot pretzel buns. Of course, there are freshly made pretzels and pretzel bits to go, as well.
The prices are very reasonable, and the service perfect, pleasant and efficient. Both the shop and the pretzel baking areas are immaculate.
If the street spaces are taken, do not worry, there is free parking behind the building, and you may enter through the convenient back door.
A family business, now in its third generation of creating German specialty pretzels, Gus' is a true South St. Louis landmark.
terrie devoto
The best pretzels, everytime we go to St. Louis we have to stop and get lunch
Godwin Herrera
Great pretzels. You could figure from the line inside. Parking was not so great probably because I went during lunch.
Charity Powell
This establishment is as St Louis as the Arch! I find myself here at least once a month to get my fix. There are lots of varieties, soft or crunchy. Make sure you try a “sandwich” mustard or nacho cheese to dip it in. Can’t post a picture because they don’t last long enough.
James Whaley
The best pretzels in town, the ones with brats are awesome.
Kraven Rose Harmon
Gus' is by far my favorite pretzel shop a must have when visiting St Louis
Al Pflueger
The best pretzels I've ever had.
Mackenzie Bliss
A stl classic! Very fun to get pretzels for lunch and enjoy a childhood favorite.
Ashley Clark
We ordered raspberry honey mustard and it was so good.
Keith Lawrence
Great pretzels. This was a Budweiser beer brat (obviously made inside of a pretzel). Delicious. Also had their phenomenal cinnamon sugar pretzel.
Jenn Abbott
Would've been 5 stars had it been solely based on food quality. However, I walked in with a mask and the first thing the lady helping me said was "it's over you don't have to wear that any more" I said yeah well some say that. I placed my order and waited for it to be filled. She came back wasnt sure what I had ordered because she lost the ticket. I confirmed my order with her verbally, I got my bag and walked out. Got to the car to unpack and my cheese cup wasn't there. I went back in for it. So maybe less unsolicited commentary and more focusing on the task at hand.
Mike Scatizzi
When we go.to St Louis from.Ofallon MO stopby Gus pretzel we go to Busch for Cards schedule and being built soccer stadium and bars restaurants hotels across Busch Down Broadway to see new construction Busch Brewery
When we waited in lnline for bratwurts salsiccia pretzels twists sticks It was Wed 4/20 noon so line to order

Sheryl Albersboyd
It is just a place that makes you happy. It is hard to pick what you want because there are so many pretzel options. Service friendly and quick
Kelley Hayes
A St. Louis landmark. A wonderful place to stop and grab a snack/lunch. The rest of the country should be jealous of us. THE BEST !!!
D Hawes
It's a south City staple. Always great quality and friendly service. Pretzel dogs and brats are a tasty treat when it's snack time. Don't let the long line scare you off. The wait isn't long and it's absolutely worth it
Germaine Darwish kirk
Fabulous delicious spot to grab a bite. Wort the wait in line. This is an STL staple must see, must go, must try the dog wrapped in pretzel!!
Christopher Stoces
Gus's is a staple. Very good pretzels!
Mike Brinker
Food is great. Customer service is horrible
Hannah Hayden
This is one of my favorite places in St. Louis, if you enjoy soft pretzels definitely check them out. My favorite order is a hot dog (wrapped in a pretzel) and some cinnamon sugar ends. I will drive out of my way just to go to their original location. If you get there early enough you can also watch them make the pretzels. Which if you have kids is great entertainment while waiting for your order.
lisa corsi
I love pretzels. Best pretzel of my life.
Chris Johnson
Gus's is the bomb a st.louis favorite and one of my favorites. The bratzel and fresh pretzels are a St.Louis tradition. Very helpful and nice people and great food. Love it
Walter Fielding
Great St. Louis tradition! Love it here! People can enjoy watching them make pretzels, while you wait in line. Pretzels are certainly the best in the Midwest (I think they are the best in the New World). Price is good and cheap, staff is friendly, and the building and neighborhood is clean. Place closes early, so be sure to get by as soon as you can. To anyone thinking about coming, you most certainly should!
Van Roudebush
Pretzels are always good! Salsiccia is delicious, and the line always moves quickly here. Top recommendation for a quality, quick and cheap lunch!
Thomas Hays
Nothing compares! An incredible piece of the rich St. Louis history! Worth 10 stars!
Chris Ford
Lunch - pretzel with a hot dog or brat or Italian sausage baked inside makes a great sandwich. The lunch deal is a great price.
Michael David
I'm in St Louis this weekend and wanted to try this place out. First off, I have to say, the pretzels are pretty amazing. The help today...not so much. I try not to complain about people in the service industry right now, but I'm not kidding, this woman was either drunk or high. She told me she had just woke up (it was almost 1 in the afternoon) and kept messing up my order. I had ordered three pretzels, then a couple jars of mustard to take home. I had to repeat it three times. She then told me my total was $2.07 or something. Two more times I had to tell her about the jars. She finally rings up the order (I had wanted twists, she rang me up for sticks, at this point I wasn't going to correct that). She then hands me two jars of the wrong item. I told her again what I wanted and she finally got them. As I was waiting for my order, two other customers were commenting that something wasn't right with her. They ordered before I did, and were still waiting on her to fill the order when I left.
But again, I want to reenforce that the pretzels themselves are really good. The other employees working seemed to be on top of their game. Just this one particular person left a sour impression. I'm in town for another two days, I probably will go back one more time.
Marc Heiman
The Arch, Imo's pizza, Ted Drewes and Gus' Pretzels! All St. Louis favorites. Gus' has been around for over 100 years! Enough said!
Shelby P
Been going here for years every time we visit St Louis. My dad was born and raised here and Gus' and Ted Drewes are must stops for us whenever we are in town. Very affordable and a neat little shop. We always load up on them and eat them throughout the week. Plenty of different options to order from. Make this a must stop next time you're in town
PsychicJuliana Sanders
Literally these are the best hot pretzels in the world! There might be fancy mall shops for pretzels but they can’t hold a candle to the original Gus’s pretzels!
I absolutely love these and I could eat them everyday, plain pretzels, pretzels with Italian sausage, hot dogs, brats, their pretzel sandwiches... all of it! Fantastic!
Dawn Luken
I have been here twice, both times right before they closed. Each time I have been the pretzels have seemed stale. It is probably because of the timing, because there is always a line out the door. Don't make my mistake, go early.
Patti
We visited Gus' Pretzel Shop on a Tuesday afternoon in August. The place was revolving door conveyor belt busy. We lucked out and got a parking spot in the small/tight lot adjacent to the shop. Inside the shop, service was quick and efficient. We bought warm and freshly baked savory pretzel sticks that we had to try immediately, while driving home. They're good! We also brought home unbaked pretzel twists to be baked at home later on. They're good too! A visit to Gus' Pretzel Shop is fun and don't forget to take a picture next to their sidewalk sign.
S.E. Hughes
Overall great carry out experience. Staff was very friendly, I didn't have to wait too long in line. I will say I tried their garlic and butter pretzel twist and I really wasn't all that impressed. I also got some of their cheddar cheese dip for their pretzel sticks, and it was absolutely disgusting. It looked like they hadn't fully warmed it up, because some of the cheese seemed "nacho cheesy" while the other seemed like it needed to be cooked (just came out of a bag). All of it was swirled into a small cup. Though it only cost like $0.75, I still think it was a waste.
It seems like their pretzel twist and sticks are the same price but you really get more pretzel if you get a stick. lots of salt was put on it as well too. Would I recommend this place especially to out-of-towners, definitely..... But just stick with just getting pretzel sticks lol.
Carlton Gardner
Gus's is one of my favorites!
Aaron Barbee (A-A-Ron)
I've tons of Gus' pretzels over the years: from random vendors all over the city as well as local gas stations. We had been up in the city and it was time for a late lunch - it made sense to stop here.
The lady helping us was not very excited to be there; I think she was ready to go home or something.
Food was good though. We had a couple pretzel dogs, nuggets and a garlic/butter one. I assumed the pretzel dogs would have salt on them, that's the only thing that would have made them better. I'll ask next time if this is an option. The nuggets were good. The garlic/butter pretzel was a regular twisty, and not the straight one that I anticipated (for some reason). It wasn't bad, but I probably won't order it again.
Definitely go back when I'm in the area and trying a brat dog. :)
Al Kay
Another must stop when back in St. Louis. Loved Gus's for years. My All time favorite is the sallsitza (sausage filed pretzel) with mustard.
Pei-Hua Wu
Loved the bratwurst pretzel! Shoulda got two!
Dustin Wales
Amazingly delicious pretzels.... soft and delictable... and the prices weren't bad either!
Jim Frehley
100-year-old pretzel shop within eyesight of Anheuser-Busch. Parking is a bit tough so ideally you would come at a non-peak time. They don't take credit cards so bring some cash. Individual pretzels are now $0.60 but get cheaper the more you buy. There have been more pretzel shops opened up in the St Louis area but I prefer the ones at Gus's.
Bob Kaber
I love the pretzels from here, totally awesome when they are fresh and hot.
Annie Hall Martin
We ordered Gus' Pretzels as a fun snack to have at our wedding! Their prices are excellent, especially when you order in bulk! As a German, I'm pretty particular about pretzels, so we taste-tested multiple options in St. Louis before deciding that Gus' Pretzels are the best/closest to authentic German pretzels! 😊 …
Walter Goedecke
Nice shop in the neighborhood, and very nice personnel. I wished that they would offer the Lent cheese pretzel or something similar throughout the year, though, as I'm not a wurst person for lunch choices.
Kenny Rodgers
Some of the best prezels in the STL. They even have seasonal changes to the menus and have different ones constantly. A great place for lunch!
Tammy Weaver
Went in for lunch and tasted amazing as always!!!!
Samantha washburn
Since my dad took me here as a kid, i am always going back and getting more. they have the best pretzels around. the prices are excellent, the workers are always nice and you get to watch them make the pretzels as well. That is the best part.
Frances Cavallo
Best pretzels in the world! Very interesting to watch the pretzels being made, while you are waiting in line too! The salchicha and brat pretzels, are to die for!!!
Leslie M
Pretzels are legendary. Would be nice if they were served warm. The hot dogs and brats are served in a pretzel bun. Not my thing but some may like it.
Renee Knight
The staff and the owner were very friendly. The pretzels were amazing and the prices were great. We are from Michigan and will definitely go back there next time we are in town.
Jason LiCavoli
A classic St. Louis gem! I love having the open window where u can see the magic behind the making of gus pretzels. The place always seems to be busy yet have fast service! I love the nubs with nacho cheese! We buy in bulk because my family eats he heck out of these! Love the quick access to highway 55!
Cheryl Sweazy
Was busy but moved very very fast to get you out. I had the jalapeno, pepper jack cheese sausage dog. Was excellent. If y'all get a chance go there
Shawn Meyer
The best soft pretzels you will ever have in your life. No trip to "The Lou" is complete without a stop at Gus' Pretzels. The salccicia is my favorite but everything on the menu is amazing. The staff is always so friendly and personable, it's like visiting family!
Wesley Gordon
Greatest place ever! Had the sauzitzas (spelling sorry). St Louis classic. Every one should try it. Now just so you know it's right off the Arsenal exit off of 55 near AB brewery in the opposite direction accross from the shell gas station. There are no places to sit. They have bites and full pretzels. They make specialized pretzels and large orders. Some street vendors even sell them at intersections throughout the city to make some extra cash. I cannot encourage you enough to give them a try. My brother and I love going there. Parking is limited but even if the line is long it will go fast I promise. Great bunch of folks!
Spencer Kendall
Great food! Quick and fast service as well. I recommend getting the cinnamon sugar pretzel ends and the bratwurst! So good!
David Feldmaier
Picked up a bunch of pretzel sticks and small pretzels for my brother in laws birthday and they were a huge hit. My nieces and nephews loved them. Gus' is a must visit if you live in STL, the quality of the pretzel is so good and the customer service and vibe of the shop was amazing.

I recommend waiting for when they are fresh out of the oven. They pretzels are exponentially better warm, and in my experience the wait was only maybe 5 minutes longer. So worth it, and such a good price! 55 cents? Are you serious?
Angie Sposeto
Very quick and helpful service! Kept their cool even though they were extremely busy! The pretzels were delicious!
Michael Throm
You enter at the Arsenal entrance and the line is marked with 6 ft spacing. At the counter the have several registers spaced out and Plexi glass assisting you from the worker.
The pretzels are still made fresh and served hot. Love Gus' pretzels
Russell Weekley
Service is very fast. Cash is the way here, no credit...though there is an ATM available if needed. The pretzels are excellent, try the Salsiccia! Also, cream cheese with the pretzels is a wonderful surprise. Gus' Pretzels are wonderful warm and tasty, and watching them make and bake the pretzels from the windows while standing in line is a treat of its own. Great treat before a Card's game!
Barbara Dunn
Love Gus's Pretzels. Friendly Staff. Good prices an the Pretzel Brats/Hot Dogs. Can't wait to go back.
Nick Hayden
This is a St Louis Staple. I always suggest going before or after a Cardinals game or a Brewery Tour. The line can be long at times but it is worth the wait. You want to get these as fresh as possible. We have taken them home to freeze and they are still great but they dont compare. I’ve seen families struggle with taking kids due to space etc. Just plan accordingly so you can enjoy.
Theresa Dutton
Gus' and his family are great people! I had my first pretzel here in 1986.
My 2 sisters used to work there when it was the original location. Not the expanded location.
I lived 4 house away at the time. I now live with my own young family 35 minutes away. And still drive to the city at least once a month for pretzels.
Who doesn't love a fresh or frozen Gus' pretzel?! If they don't, I wouldn't trust 'em. LoL
Gerard Schmidt
Bag of 12 sticks, and 4 brats to go for the Servpro Office.
Brad (Pecosbrad)
This is one of the best places I know. Not only do they do an incredible job and have a neat little shop but their pretzels are amazing. I'm not sure how they keep their prices so reasonable either but we will go there as long as I live and as long as they are around.
Angela Layman
I was at the brewery and stopped here to bring home some pretzels and get some food. The pretzel brat was the best part. The pretzels were not very good compared to Pretzel Stop. I was disappointed, I guess I have been spoiled by Pretzel Stop. I will probably not get a regular twist or cinnamon sugar pretzel here again.
It was very busy. We waited in line for our orders to be taken. The man who ordered after me was not able to get all of the twists he requested because they were out or low on them, so I guess I got there just in time.
Cynthia Steenberg
Fantastic pretzels!! It's fun to watch them being made.
Only complaint, the parking is atrocious, but it is the Soulard area, so be prepared to parallel park.
Kenzie Barron
This little shop is within walking distance of our bnb and we were pleasantly surprised by the prices (cheap!), the bratwurst pretzel was delicious! Our twists were a tad stale it seemed but they were still worth it.! We’ll be back for more!
Amanda Zitting
Love love love. Great pretzels and a cool experience. Everything is super cheap, too! They are super salty but you can knock some of that off and have a delicious snack! A must go for STL.
Tony Bonsignore
Fresh hot pretzel sticks and twists are my favorite! They also have lunch options to choose from. Great prices and friendly staff will keep me coming back!
Cormac Dedert
Best pretzels in St Louis I know there are some other guys now and I've tried them all and they're okay. At one place the pretzels were damp on the inside and the other place they were pretty good and Affton but Gus is still the best.
Chris
This place is fun, the pretzels are cheap, but honestly not the best tasting. The sauces are OK even despite the melange of chemicals that go into them. It's a Saint Louis institution so no shame picking some up - especially on a "Twisty Tuesday" when there's a great deal.
AŃG FREINER
Best well known pretzel shop in south St. Louis. It's a must go if you haven't been. The pretzels are excellent! Don't let the long line fool you, it moves fast.
Charlie M
Great place. I just wish they had their rye pretzels more often.
Charles Gordon
Great local pretzels! Way better than pretzel pretzel.
Thomas Christian
A Must-Stop-In local favorite
Regardless if you are visiting, live in the metro area, or around the block, if you like or love pretzels, Gus' is definitely on the top of the list. Straights, traditional twists, sandwiches, and tube meats... They are all great! My personal fave is the "Sal" as some of my friends call it. It is an Italian sausage with a delicious fennel seasoning that is just perfect with the creamy, full richness of the pretzel wrap. My second is the pretzel dog, this ain't your everyday Oscar Meyer, no sir, this is a dog worthy to be swaddled by a Gus' pretzel. Mustard, ketchup, cheese or plain, you won't go wrong.
Laura Fernandez
The place is clean. I ordered the hotdog pretzel. It is soft and tasty. Love the deal 15 unsalted pretzels for 9.00. I strongly recommended. I should get a beer.
Adam Boswell
The pretzel wrapped bratt was awesome. It was the first time I ever had one and I highly recommend them to any bratt lover. They definitely beat a bun.
Jean Pen
Best pretzels anywhere, great family ran business. It's always fun to watch how they make the different pretzels then buy our favorite ones. 5+ star rating from me!
Michael Trojahn
Best pretzels of all time!
Charlie Quain
Truly awesome local joint. I love pretzel dogs for breakfast.
John Gamache
They are the friendliest people always have a smile on there faces always fresh pretzels with bratwurst Italian sausage or the hot dog you can’t go wrong love the place keep it up !!!!!!
Mariah S.
Gus's pretzel shop is a staple of the St Louis Community. This family-owned pretzel shop not only has pretzels but has hot dogs wrapped in pretzels some kind of bratwurst repped and pretzel and incredible dipping sauces that compliment the pretzel.
This place also features beverages from Pepsi as well as Fitz's Root Beer and I believe alcoholic beverages though I have never had one.
If you get a chance to meet Gus he's a wonderful guy and knows his stuff.
If you come to St Louis and you don't eat a Gus's pretzel you really haven't been to St.Louis.
David Linton (St. Louis)
Well if you come straight to us you have to go buy Gus's pretzels, they're the best!
Bill Gohs
Iconic St. Louis eatery. Excellent pretzels! Close to the Budweiser brewery. If you are passing through town, it's a quick hop off and back on I-55 interstate. Definitely worth the stop!
Keith Bloompott
Great place for soft pretzels. Prices are cheap and the people are nice. My only complaint would be the parking lot. It's small and tight. But if you come on an off hour or find street parking it's not that big of an issue
Madeline Rivera
I love getting Gus Pretzels!!! I love the hot ham and cheese sandwhich they offer. I wish they had a place in the county where you could get some pretzels from Gus not frozen from grocery store. Customer service has always been great everytime I've been there. Never had an issue with my items!!! Gus is a historic place if you live in STL you been to Gus and if you havent your not a true to STL!!!!
Chuck Lee
Great custom pretzels. I had a large number "5" made for my grand daughters birthday. It turned out great and everyone loved it. At the end of the party the entire pretzel was gone. I like their cinnamon pretzels too.
Soft Hands314
Really good pretzels good service fast easy in and out wheelchair accessible
Michele Melichar
My all time favorite pretzel... brings back wonderful childhood memories!
C H
Great pretzels with great employees. Ordered $300 worth of pretzels and no one batted an eye. Order was ready on time and they helped me to the car. The pretzels and the pub beer mustard dip were a big hit with my guests.
Dominic Tessmer
While this place is practically a landmark in St. Louis I find the pretzels are very hard and I dont think its all that great. I feel like a lot of people say Gus's is awesome because its a "St. Louis" thing. I prefer a soft pretzel from somewhere else.
dazspell36
The absolute BEST pretzels! A St Louis tradition and a must visit. Can watch them make pretzels. Easy access from Highway 55 on Arsenal. Good parking area.
FYI, the pretzels freeze well.
Mary Lambeth
Going to get a Gus's pretzel takes me back to childhood at soulard when my dad would buy them in bags for us...hot and wonderful. Thanks for still being there for the city....and for a girl who lives in Texas now but still wants a good pretzel sometimes!
Randy and Beth Biggs
Good things. Good experience. Even the stupid times we live in cannot dampen the fun feeling of watching a pretzel factory in action. You must put this on your must do list.
jim tirre
Gus pretzel braut. Good as usual.
Kevin Dobbins
If you're in St. Louis, there is nothing like a stop by Gus's. I recently ordered the bag of cinnamon sugar endz. They were still warm out of the oven, with so much cinnamon sugar, it was almost too much sweetness! Great snack for my friend & I to munch on while touring St. Louis that afternoon.
Jackie Lamb
Absolutely LOVE Gus'. Always come before going to the Zoo, Botanical garden, or any other time I'm in the area. Best pretzels anywhere. Always recommend and bring out of town visitors!
Cecilia
These pretzels are like a religion in my family. Every time we visit St. Louis we bring back dozens of these! (We freeze them and heat them in the microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel.)
Delicious doesn't say enough.
Sometimes there's a bit of a line to wait in, but it's worth it.
Also.... kinda in a bad neighborhood. So we get pretzels and get on our way.
elle brown “elbow” realtor/mentor
I've been going there since I lived in the neighborhood as a child and we went down the alley. It is changed quite a bit pretzels are still great you get to watch them be made and service is fast. They now take cards for purchases over 5 bucks.
Ben Brenner
Pretzels are very tasty. They have a lot of options including sandwiches. Unfortunately the pretzels we bought today were not warm but they were easily warmed up. Service is fast and friendly.
Jeffrey Keffer
I bought a bag of 25 pretzels for an election night party ... It was decided that I would be elected the President of the Pretzels from then on out ... I would like to Thank Gus and his employees for helping me gain this prestigious award and learning that it does not matter if you vote Democrat , Republican or any of the other partys out there, What Americans truly want is delicous hot pretzels and Gus's delivers that with a unanimous decision
Malissa Dunn
Just introduced my coworker and they loved it just like I know they would!!
Dasha Pyat
Loved the pretzel sticks! We dipped them in honey mustard and it was delicious - but we suspect the garlic dip is also great.
Tried the garlic twisted pretzel but wished it was baked with garlic, instead of simply being dipped in garlic butter. 🥨 …
Meredith B
Best pretzels in STL. Salciccia is great for lunch. Cinnamon sugar pretzel makes a great breakfast.
They don't keep well so only get what you plan to eat that day.
Randy Hobson
Best Pretzels in the world right here in STL!
Cathy L
Very busy when we stopped in. Moves pretty quick tho. We enjoyed the pretzels we were able to eat before our dog(Joey) snatched the rest. Joey gives 5 stars too :)
Tracie
Their bratwurst were amazing. I did not care for the cinnamon and sugar one tho they also didn't offer any dipping sauces for that. But overall def a 4 star! 🌟🌟🌟🌟 …
Tracy Struebig
Stopped by to get a hot dog in a pretzel !!! LOVE those things , they are AWESOME !!! I just happened to time it right this time, they were OPEN !! I don't get down that way very often, and the last couple of times it did, they were closed . But this time they were OPEN !!! I was so HAPPY !! 😊😉😆.
Gus' Pretzels are AWESOME !! You guys need to expand into the county ????
The people who work there are friendly and helpful, will definitely try to get down there more often . ❤❤❤
Steven Baldwin
The cinnamon sugar ends with icing are always INCREDIBLE. Can't really go wrong with anything here, though! Enjoy and have one for me!
Marjorie Place
Best pretzels ever. Been going there since I was a child 70 year's Ago great pretzel sandwich's saccizia is my favorite.
Jane Schlake
Best pretzels in town. Oldest pretzel store around. When U go in U can watch them making pretzel. They also wrap pretzel dough around hot dogs, brats & italian sausage. The have small pieces called endz at are good for kids. Of course the sell bottles of soda. Don't forget the cheese sauce for dipping... Enjoy 😊😋 …
Mike Blosser
Excellent pretzels and food. Great prices too, they could easily charge more for the quality and service delivered. Gus’s is a St Louis tradition for a reason.
Krystal McBride
We stopped on our honeymoon as it was a recommended must have. Let me tell you they were not wrong. The pretzels were delicious. They made a very delicious snack for us.
Christine Topp
A St. Louis gem that you can't pass up while in town. We always pick up the froze pretzels to cook at home since we can't make it all of the time. Our family loves Gus' Pretzels!!
Kristin McCutchen
Love Gus's. This is a tradition not just for them but all of STL. I am not from St Louis but my other half is. He introduced me to it and we take the kids. My daughter said when she has kids she will. The cinnamon sugar bites are amazing.
Harvest Baptist Church - Pastor Kelly Daniel
What a great way to start your day... unconventionally! We tried the Garlic & Butter twist pretzels, Cinnamon & Sugar twist pretzels and the pretzel ends... I favored the cinnamon and sugar, enjoyed the experience of the garlic & butter, but, SURPRISINGLY, could NOT STOP EATING the regular ole salted pretzel ends... seriously, I felt like the bag had a hand that would pop out of it while I was driving and would extend its pointer finger and say, "Come here." and draaaaawwwww meee innnn fooorrrr anotherrrrr oooone.... yesssss... ahhhh... Mmmmmm.... I heard the bag saying several times to me as I drove down the road, "You... want... me... you know you do... I'll give you another one... I have another one... in... here... come to me... come to me..." So, I couldn't resist and had to eat another one, and another one... well, you get the picture.
Go by and give it a try. It was worth it for us. We bought 6 Cinnamon & Sugar, 6 Garlic & Butter, and 15 Pretzel ends all for under $9.00 for a family of 8 that includes 4 teens (2 of them boys). DELICIOUS!
Hopefully you will enjoy this St. Louis icon like we did. Hope this helps plan your trip. Take care and safe travels.
David Smith
Who in the world doesn't like fresh hot pretzels!?!? The one n only Gus's Pretzels offer pretzels with hot dogs n bratwurst in them. They are always busy when there's a game hockey ' baseball even when there's not. Great place to get one of ur child hood favorite's that u grew up wanting every time u would be on a drive some morning r afternoon n would see some paperboy on a corner selling papers. Well it wasn't any different to see a pretzel man at some random corner selling yes u guessed it Gus's pretzels. So if ur anything like me with these memories. You remember the great taste of a Gus's pretzel. Go there if you haven't tried a nice n hot plus super Fresh cause they (Duh) R made right there while u wait. Chip Saunders
A co-worker of mine suggested this place to get a snack while in St. Louis. Great pretzels!
ONE YEAR LATER, we are back oh my lord these pretzels are worth the wait and the Journey!!!!
Bill Hook
Love this place. Everyone is always friendly. Pretzel always good.
aaronlmc83
Absolutely amazing people amazing food and always love my trip to Gus's
Sarah Skirball
Omgosh who doesn't love a Gus's pretzel?! To see and watch how they are made is neat. The bratwurst in a pretzel is my go to beside of course the pretzel its self.... The only thing I wish is that they had sitting either inside or out.
Riley Wyatt
Stopped here on my way out of town and so happy I did. The pretzel sticks were amazing and Craig was so polite and sweet. Great business !
Jan Reither
I have eaten Gus's as long as I have had teeth. My grandpa would stop there and Dad's cookies after church at St. Francis De Sales church. I will always go to Gus's and my gosh try their ham and cheese Deli pretzel sanwich. I love, love, love. My son lives in Denver and is requesting me bringing some on the plane ride there. I don't know how the airport would handle that though. I will figure it out. I hope Gus's son keeps up the business I would hate to see that fall away like so many other St. Louis greats. Jan
Rich F
Great place for anything pretzel. Staff is super friendly. I had a pretzel brat and thoroughly enjoyed it. Had some of their regular pretzel sticks too. I see why this is a St. Louis hot spot.
Ron Macke
Bestest sticks in town. Sold them in 1962 for a nickel 5 for 25 cents At Broadway and Davis before 55 interstate came through the truckers bought 20 for a dollar and always gave me a tip they were the best customer a 10 year old could have.
Vince Perniciaro
Classic! A must. Love the wurst!
Chris Lozano
Never a bad day that includes a stop at Gus’s. Hot fresh and simple. The pretzels are chewy and not overwhelmed with salt. I always get a “sandwich” which is a 1/4lb hotdog, brat or salsiccia wrapped in pretzel dough.
Steve Dix
Great tradition in St. Louis! Gotta try a Bratzel or other local favorite. Quick in and out service just off the highway. We try to hit it up a few times a year.
MS. JEFF
The pretzels taste like a regular out the box pretzel.
For the price are very small. The cheddar cheese doesn't taste like cheddar cheese. Nothing to rave about. I'd go to Quiktrip and get a pretzel.
David Mikovits
Great pretzels, amazing prices. Would recommend eating hot.
Deirdre Gossett
Best Pretzels in our area or any area. People are very friendly.
ron rivera
Love this place St Louis favorites

Delicious.
Word of advice: although the pretzels are fantastic, they don’t store long. Only buy what you can eat.

Istvan J. Ladanyi
My first time... I have to say ... I am impressed at the production line type shop... no where to sit and enjoy your purchase.. so you have to basically...choose what you want pay and collect.. and then go and find a place to savour them... like the car... it was the closest... nice fresh from the oven...
J. R. Humphry
Everyone wore masks and obse.rved social distance. The line moved quickly and service was swift. The bratwurst pretzel was really delicious!
Amanda Below
Great pretzels! We tried the pretzel sticks, pretzel sandwiches and cinnamon sugar pretzel ends. All were soft and delicious!Awesome customer service. Love!!
Rickey Waller
They are too popular too long a Wait just to get some pretzels

Old fashioned pretzels made daily. They also offer sandwiches and other quick and tasty food items as well. A piece of history in the Saint Louis area. Try it out!

elle brown
I've been going since childhood, when it was just a little alley entryway. they don't seem to have the rounds when I need them, only sticks. still great!
Mike Weldon
Great place for soft or semi-hard pretzels. Plain or with a hotdog or brat inside. Ted Drew's custard available also. Nice something different...a St Louis landmark.
Ivonne Chavez
For sure you gotta stop by and try this place.😋 …
Clarice Stratton
Gus' pretzels have been here a long time. The stuffed pretzel seemed smaller but hot and tasty. They take cards now.
Diana S
I can't wait to go back and try other items on the menu. My cinnamon sugar pretzel was amazing. Masks and distancing was in place.
Steven Creek
Steve and Morgan recommend this place fresh cooked every day no order to big just give them a call so they can get your order ready. And they have brats too. last time i was here I got 100 togo dropped off at work.

Ohh yeah try em with mustard WOW WOW WOW WOW 🥖🌭🌭🌭🥖🥖 …
Jorge Carrion
Don't forget, this is best when eaten fresh, unless you like pretzels hardened. The microwave for a few seconds can help soften 'em up a bit. They now sell frozen to eat later, too.
Zoey Rackovan
Super fast and loved the food.
Vannessa McCrea
The pretzels were cold but the cheese was hot.
christopher huelsing
Good stuff as always, friendly service, definite taste of Saint Louis!
Matt
Love these pretzels!
JFK
Ok. But we always have a long wait and it is hard to park there. Wisely take two people when you go for one to get out and get the pretzels while the other drive around until your done.
Jason
It's a Saint Louis must!! It's a local favorite. Best pretzel in town.
Melvin Bruning
Great tasting pretzels and sandwiches

Brad Georgen
Best pretzels I've ever had, and not just from St. Louis. Worth the stop.

I've had just about everything on the menu. The pretzel sandwich is great. My favorite is the spicy sausage or hot dog inside the pretzel!👍✌️ …
Matthew Hoff
This place is great every time never have i been disappointed in the pretzels or service.
Aaron Joseph
The Original Saint Louis Pretzl Place!
Often imitated never duplicated!
Wurst Wednesday's are the Best!
If you are in from out of town, or new to town, defiantly get in here and have either a deli sandwich, a pretzel dog, a Pretzl Brat, Pretzl Salzitsa, or Pretzl Deli Sandwich. Or just a Pretzl twist, stick, or nub. No matter what you get, you won't regret it.
Brian Conley
Go get a pretzel for .60 cents and take the dang brewery tour for free. What beats a day where you can get a pretlez and 24oz of beer for .60cents along with Clydsdales and a little Saint Louis history.
Matt Higgins
Gus's is ALWAYS tops in pretzels and over the years has expanded the menu to include pretzel wrapped sausages, cinnamon and sugar, sauces, and more.
Tom Viscomi
The "Sandwich" is a hot dog or Italian sausage or brat inside a soft pretzel. AMAZING
Timothy Hertel
Great to see a thriving small business. Pretzels are fantastic and the pretzel bratwurst was incredible. Thank you for good treats and supporting Vets.

Best pretzels in St. Louis and possibly the country. Going there is a step back in time. I'm glad I don't live closer or I'd be 20 pounds heavier!

Really fast and friendly service, but I was a little disappointed in the prezels. They were not warm and soft like they usually are. We were eating them within a few minutes of leaving the store and I don't think they were fresh.
Brian Bessire
Excellent place to get a pretzel dog. Service is always great. The people there are so nice.
Gary Christman
I love gus’ but a activated when I ask for extra salt (and can see very salty pretzels) and get what ever they grab. I understand if it is busy but not when I am the only customer.
Mickel Townsend
Some of the best pretzels around!!! I love them fresh out of the oven and cinnamon sugar coated. I'm not a fan of the cheese sauce though.
BulliMammi -
Always a family favorite!!! We have been going to Gus’ for over 30 years. There is nothing like a fresh Gus’ pretzel. And the staff is always patient and friendly!!
Mark Cramblett
Try the pretzel sandwiches. They are great. Pretzels always fresh
They must be good usually a line but wait is not long. Parking is a little sparse but worth it
James White
Gus' Pretzel Shop is a 'must do' when in town; a traditional favorite of St. Louis. 5 Stars does not do it justice!
Ronald Winker
St Louis landmark for sure! Consider a must for fun and great pretzel munchies. Every tourist deserves a St Louis memory. Enjoy!

Derek Lancaster
Must visit place if you are visiting St. Lewis. Just down the street from the brewery. I always get the pretzel bratwurst. A walk through and cash is only accepted.
Bill Ohm
Exceeded our high expectations, got there before 1130 and avoided the lunch crowd. Fast, friendly service and delicious food at very reasonable prices
Jake Hilbert
I crave these constanly. If your from stl, you know this place or know someone who does. Great pretzel sticks and twists if your looking for a plain pretzel, while their stuffed pretzels set the bar for what a pretzel should be.
Amy Silver Sauter

Dan Buechner
Love Gus' pretzels...👍 …
Jeff Reddy
The pretzels aren't that great hot, and when they're cold they definitely not that good. They're friendly and offer a lot of options for fund raising, so I gave them 3 stars in spite of the product they sell.
LC
Fun to watch them make the pretzel sticks and twists. Family run and fair prices. It's a really good pretzel. Awesome hotdog pretzel with mustard. Yuuuummmm
