We visited this morning. The shop is small and unassuming, and we waited in line a few minutes before entering. COVID restrictions were in place, so it felt safe. The apple fritters were very good, and our group enjoyed other varieties as well. It is a great traditional bakery for donuts!

Perfect shop to make a part of your morning walk in the St. Louis Hills. Some of the best coffee in St. Louis! Thorough and friendly staff are efficient and eager to help. I even got some Prairie Farms milk from Edwardsville to go with my coffee and donuts. This place boasts a line out the door virtually all times that it is open, but it is worth the (very short) wait. Definitely a staple for when I visit friends in STL.

Tried of finding the grocery stores out of your favorite donuts in the evening? Here is your after hours solution. Excellent little donut shop with a good variety of both cake and regular donuts. The cake were particularly good and I'm not a big cake donut fan. Pricing is about a dollar per donut but the more you get the less per donut.

I’m almost willing to drive from Atlanta to St. Louis just to get these donuts. The people are super friendly… so TIP THEM WELL. The fritters might be the best you’ll ever have. Crispy edges, soft insides. Perfection.

I'd say you go here for the experience but not amazing donuts. My husband I were visiting from Indianapolis (home of Long's donuts). We try to grab donuts in every city we visit and determined this was the go-to spot in St. Louis. The donuts are just okay, but pulling into the retro shop and standing in line was the best part. We grabbed some classic glazed donuts and a cinnamon roll. We took them to Forest park, sat on a bench and enjoyed. While I don't think the donuts are anything special, I would still recommend this place for the experience.

Was driving Missouri Route 66 when we found this gem. Only stopped to take photos and then got back on the road. Must be good, there were people standing in line outside to get in. We'll have to try some donuts next time through town.

Mmmmm!!! Was here visiting my daughter and she passes this donut shop regularly. We stopped and shamelessly the two of us tried about 10 types of donuts. ( Allot more to try) They are delicious!!! Can't wait to visit her again so we can try more!! Yum!!

I saw a large line outside an eating establishment that caught my attention. I was actually driving somewhere else and turned around to see what the hubbub was about. Once I saw it was a donut shop I knew it was time for me to get in line as well. As luck would have it, it was well worth the wait. Bonus, I took some pictures. I will be returning as these were so good if not the best donuts I’ve had in awhile. Long line? No problem! Also the staff were super helpful.

This was our first time going here and definitely not our last. The people behind the counter were so friendly and patient with the 3 young kids I had. The blueberry donut was the best I've ever had and the kids really enjoyed theirs. After their first bites they yelled out " these are bussin bussin!" We don't live close, but so worth the drive! They are in there working hard so please leave them a tip in the jar!

As a self proclaimed donut connoisseur I can say I whole heartedly give this place 10 out of 10. I've tried most donuts in St. Louis area and this place is easily in my top five. It has a classic feel and selection, staff is always polite, good prices, and they make fresh batches throughout the day. My favorite is their powdered cinnamon sugar donut. Apple fritters are very good as well. Honestly, you can't go wrong with whatever you get!

Battle of the Doughnuts 1 I took on an unusual challenge after I found a listing regarding the best doughnuts in St. Louis. It was on. After awaking at four in the morning, I dressed and headed out by 4:30 to my first shop. Donut Drive-In lit up the sky with its bright white lights blazing at five am. I felt like a moth drawn to a flame while pulling into the parking lot. Located on Chippewa, the shop is small, simple without a lot of fanfare. Trays and racks of doughnuts behind the counter and in the case, lets you know the staff was ready to satisfy the growling bellies of the St. Louis morning rush. I purchased a French glaze; the flavor wasn’t quite what I expected. The single glaze and twist were thick and simple, the kind of doughnut you’d pair with a cup of joe. Overall: These doughnuts are unassuming, to the point in taste and quality.

My son & I’s go to for donuts. This is an old school donut shop. Inside, it’s the counter then behind the counter you can watch them make the donuts. Since there’s only room to wait on a couple people at a time you have to stand outside in line to be waited on. Dress appropriate for the weather. The service once inside is fast and friendly. They even give my son a sample donut hole if available while picking out our donuts. Don’t worry about not having cash because they accept cards. Donuts like long johns are $0.95 a piece, Fancies like apple fritters are $1.80 a piece & donut holes are $0.22 a piece. If you like to sleep in you can pre-order your donuts on their website before 3 PM central standard time for next day pick up. My rating for this donut shop would be 3 out of 3 stars which equals five stars.

It may have limited space inside, have limited parking, and is located in a somewhat awkward spot (mostly due to the street layout), but their donuts are YUMMY and the workers are super nice, so make sure you tip them because they bust their butts to keep those fresh pastries stocked for us. This is my go-to place for donuts. I love the fact that they have online ordering, so that you can order in advance and can just pick it up and go. The convenience of an online ordering system just can't be stated enough, as the ability to place an order well in advance is something that a lot of places don't have, but donut drive-in does. Every single donut offered is tasty, and prices are comparable to other places. Skip the corporations and go local for your donut needs, you won't regret stopping by this place.

I was placing an order for a customer here. It was late on a Sunday and they were out of a lot of the Fancy donuts they make. Of course. They bake fresh daily and don't sell leftovers. If you want your pick, especially on a Sunday, you better set that alarm. The ladies and gents there are as sweet as the donuts. They care about customer satisfaction and they are just truly pleasant.

Doughs are personal and no one uses the same recipe. Great place and even better donuts. Long line so order ahead. Also, if you are not particilar about the type of donuts you get, check out the small hut behind the main building. They often have a random mixed dozen available. Saved us at least 30-45 minutes in line.

This place is the best! It’s been here since I was a child. The donuts are ALWAYS FANTASTIC. Not those overly glazed things they call Donuts from that unnamed chain... this Donut shop has the BEST old fashioned selection, the most amazing Jelly filled donuts, Boston Creme.. everything is great.. PLUS they have Donuts with vanilla icing... they are to die for! I can’t recommend them enough, worth any drive, worth any wait, just plain DELICIOUS!!!

I hope this place is around forever. Man did they make some improvements. I remember it used to be cash only which was fine but just added another step of going to the atm on the way there. Now they take card and have those assorted boxes if you don’t want to wait in line forever. And online ordering which I haven’t tried yet, but a really great idea. Definitely feels like a solid direction they are going in and I’m happy seeing a line outside when I drive by knowing they are prospering. I can’t think of any way to improve on what they are doing. My all time favorite is the custard filled chocolate.

Great little donut shop. They keep some strange hours but are open early and late for those who like donuts at all hours. The best thing there is the apple fritter. They are normally the size of a dinner plate during the week and are oh-so-delicious. Of all the privately owned donut shops around St. Louis this one is by far my favorite.

Get here early because the shop is tiny and there's almost always a line, especially after church on Sundays. Used to be cash only but I believe they take credit cards now just with a minimum.

I grew up eating Donut Drive-In because it was close to home. I can remember the first time I really realized how delicious these donuts were. Sure, they always tasted good but it wasn't until I went to Illinois and tried some from some place everyone raves about. I took a bite expecting it to be as good as Donut Drive-In or better. Not the case, not even close. I then experimented other places. Nothing has come close. Keep it up guys. You are awesome. I won't even eat donuts from other places. What's the point?

Chocolate glazed are my favorite here great chocolate flavor, just the right cake texture on the inside with the perfect balance of crispy fried and glazed outside. Goes great with coffee or milk. Brought in a few dozen to work and I had a lot of people asking where they came from. I was I and out within minutes on a Thursday morning around 8am. I will definitely return.

They have BLUEBERRY DONUTS!!!! These are my favorite and I'm super picky about where I get them from. BUT . . . Donut Drive In has blueberry donuts and I loved them. If you are wanting donuts, you go here!!!! I cannot stress that enough! They are busy and popular, so be prepared to possibly stand in line and have people around you. Don't get get into an accident trying to get to them because they're on a busy intersection (smart business move, btw). They have a wide selection of donuts, something for everyone. The BEST think about Donut Drive-In is, their donuts are cheap, tasty, delicious, and you can buy a box of dozen donuts for under $10.00! So, if you buy two dozen donuts, that's under $20.00. I believe the price is $8.00 a dozen. Also, tax is already included in the price. Donut Drive-In and its donuts will remain and cherish in my heart forever.

A Southside institution. Always has been small. To keep 6' between patrons, or only two at a time allowed inside right now, so you'll see a line to the corner during peak hours, say 9:30 AM on Sunday. But they've built a shed or kiosk where you can pick up a phone order, or a random dozen. A little patience, a little planning or a little flexibility will get you your fix.

Amazing donuts; I had a chocolate one with cream cheese frosting in it. The cream cheese frosting was just right. Not too sweet but the chocolate didn't overpower it. My son had a glazed bow tie the size of his head. All that is well and good but my wife's cinnamon roll! Maple frosting with pecans. It was just ridiculously good. Not too sweet and the dough was tender and crunchy on the outside. Just what you want out of a cinnamon roll. Go here and the down the street to Ted Drewe's for Frozen custard!
