Reviews of Rosellini’s Fine Cakes & Baked Goods
Used their shop for an event I was hosting and everything was a huge hit! Best almond croissant my husband has ever had and multiple guests said the scones were amazing. They really got me out of a bind because the original bake shop I was going to use didn’t have enough stock at 7 when they opened! Not only did Rosellini’s take care of us, they did it with such excellent customer service.
Also! Their vanilla bean latte was just delicious. You can tell it was house made with real vanilla!!
Impeccable. Incredible. Such perfect pastries, really next level. The gougere, a savory pastry with cheese in the dough, was delicate, airy, and delightful. The morning bun, with just a hint of orange zest, was perfect, light, and just the right amount of crispness. The almond croissant was heavenly. Great latte with homemade syrups. No wonder there was such a long (friendly) lineup!
Rosellini is one of the top places to get a butter croissant in Seattle. Their croissants have crispy crusts and beautiful layers, smell nicely as well. Maybe the layers are a tad too thick to my personal taste but overall I still enjoyed it very much. I've got their croissants in the early morning as well as in the afternoon, they are always taste fresh and delicious.
They make many other pastries as well. Coffee too, of course. I have also tried their spinach and cheese puff pastry and the gougère, a cheese ball. They are good, if not impressive.
No seats inside and just a couple of tables outside. There is usually a short line but it moves fast.
This place breaks a rule I have found to be true over the years, you can get great baked goods or great coffee, but never at the same location. The coffee here is good, the baked goods stratospheric and the people are fab. This is the unicorn of bakeries.
It's so good I couldn't get a photo of my latte and croissant. See attached.
Three words, best CAKE ever! I ordered the 6" classic chocolate with chocolate buttercream for my fiancees birthday and it was OH so good! Moist, perfect balance of sweetness and if you're craving chocolate this hits the spot. Very much looking forward to trying other things they make in the near future!! My new favorite bakery in the area.
Cute little bakery in the Whittier Heights neighborhood. The baked goods were delicious. Ended up in a very long line for Sunday Mother's Day breakfast treats. Pro tip: order and pay ahead and skip the lines.
Decided to continue my search for the best Kouign Amann in Seattle before flying back to Vancouver tonight. Drove all the way from downtown Bellevue to Ballard to try the delectable pastries at Rossellini’s. As expected, there was a lineup out front even though it was only 9:00 am in the morning. Ordered a croissant, a ham and cheese croissant and not one but two Kouign Amann. The Kouign Amann was more than divine; it was well bronzed with a flaky, buttery interior, a brittle caramelized exterior and a subtle hint of saltiness. The Kouign Amann was near perfection with all dimensions covered. It was definitely worth the drive!
UPDATE: Back in Bellevue so another visit to Rosellini’s for a Cortado and more Kouign Amann. Could not resist the temptation.
Amazing pastries justify exorbitant prices (tax not included). Be sure to check the price they ring up as well as I was rung up higher than the advertised price and this was not corrected, as there was a huge line and the cashier seemed flustered. Overall with tax it was $25 for two coffees, a slice of quiche, a single eclair and a small tip. The quality is top notch and you get what you pay for.
The pastries were pretty good. I have had much better kouign amann. The morning bun was very nice. The chocolate croissant was good. There was nothing amazing but it was all good. The line moves quickly
I've been coming here weekly for years and can confidently say there is no better bakery in Seattle. I have truly tried almost everything on the menu and have ordered at least 6 cakes from them over the years.
Rosellini's is a phenomenal bakery with a big neighborhood following and I don't know another bakery in town that does every single category justice - amazing pastry, gorgeous breads, delicious cakes, and great coffee.
The croissants and chocolate cake are the obvious route to go, but here are some overlooked items that are exceptional: any of the quiche options, kouign-amann, chocolate mousse with mascarpone, the eclairs, and the olive fougasse.
Run, don't walk here.
My sister requested a tiramisu cake with some specializations for her birthday. Suzanne at Rosellini's was able to accommodate and made the whole process incredibly easy. The cake was delicious!
Reading through the other reviews there isnt much more I can add. I have never ate from a bakery that I loved more. You can tell everything is made with love. Frankly disappointed this place is hidden all the way in ballard. Please please open a location in issaquah or Bellevue outside of the city. Sincerely a new fan 🥰 …
Excellent coffee and baked goods. The mocha was not too sweet and had good coffee flavor. So hard to find a good mocha these days and Rosellini’s delivered. Chocolate eclair was superb.
Fantastic French fare at reasonable prices, Rosellini's is a great place to grab a quick bite if you find yourself in Ballard, or if the line at The Fat Hen across the way is over an hour long. Try the quiche, the chocolate croissant, and the Mexican chocolate macarons. Not much in the way of seating, but the counters are wide enough that you don't feel cramped, either.
The crossiants are very delicious, so crispy and flavorful!
This place is amazing… I almost don’t want to give a great review because I don’t want more people to know how amazing it is 😉 From the delicious bread to the awesome coffee, fresh granola to the perfect macarons and all the great pastries… this place has it all. On a busy weekend day you might have to wait in line outside for 20 minutes and there is not much seating (just two tables outside), it’s definitely more of a grab and go kind of place but 100% worth the wait. The staff is happy and friendly and you can tell they enjoy working there. I go here at least once a week and have never had a bad experience.
The food is definitely worth the wait! My favorite so far was the bacon brioche bun! Can't wait to tear into sourdough loaf!
Their chocolate cake is awesome, we got it for two separate parties and it's so rich and delicious. You do need to order in advance.
Also got a gougère (cheese puff pastry) and a cinnamon roll, both were delicious. Highly recommend.
Parking is street and can be hard to find, and the sign for Rosellini's is hard to see when their doors are open so it's easy to drive by and miss them. Worth stopping!
The coffee here was really good until recently, it's gone a little downhill with the new barista. He's also not the friendliest. Pastries are still fantastic, I think the almond croissant 🥐 is the best! …
Croissants and Coffee is our Sunday ritual. I think we've tried nearly every croissant in the city at this point, Seattle has a incredible number of really delicious options.
But Rosellini's is one of the few that we go back to over and over again, even though we have to drive past at least 5 great bakeries to get there.
All of their pastries are stellar, and they have a solid variety that isn't sold out by 10am (we don't do mornings). They're always friendly and their coffee is solid, which is where so many good bakeries fall down.
Big fans.
Absolutely, amazingly, and awesome neighborhood bakery! I only admit this due to lack of elder family in WA. But, thry have one of the best chocolate cake's, I have ever ate in my existence.
Had to grab a few macrons while I was there this time around, and yup, not disappointed at all.
Our macarons, croissants, and caneles didn't even make it home. Kids ate them in the car. Everything here is excellent.
Amazing pastries! Each it’s own work of art. A must try when in Ballard. I’ve had their plum danish and kouign-amann. Visit on a weekday before 2ish for faster service; otherwise it’s worth the wait ❤️🥐 …
A tiny neighborhood bakery. Cute place, tasty pastries and friendly stuffs.
Their mornings are very busy, prepare for a long line. We stopped by there around Friday 12:30 pm, no line.
I LOVE this place. The Kouign-amann pasty is fantastic and I love their chai tea. My only critical feedback would be that although their macarons have a perfect texture, they are not the most flavorful.
We spent a morning popping around town from one bakery to the next to determine which had the best èclairs. I will say, Rosellini’s blew the others away. In fact, I love Rosellini’s èclairs so much that we ordered 90 of them as our wedding “cake.” They have a customer for life!
I ordered a carrot cake from Suzanne Rosellini a few months ago and my family is still talking about it. They did a great job of presentation and the cake was so moist and delicious! This was my husband's birthday cake, he was very satisfied. I was late picking up the cake (almost closing time) and they were still there (thank goodness) and graciously gave me my cake.
Excellent baked goods, very friendly staff. They helped choose items and made some excellent suggestions. Never had a bad experience!
I love the pastries and cakes here, especially the blueberry danish, chocolate hazelnut mousse cake and macarons! Everything tastes fresh and is well made; very French and not too sweet, but still with lots of flavor. I always look forward to coming back!
Really good latte and Danish! Nice atmosphere and good outdoor seating. Definitely recommend, especially if you want pastry.
Delicious treat - a little rich for my taste (both in flavor and slightly overpriced cost) but I enjoyed the cute little shop on a “coffee date” and would go again.
Great pastry and dessert. Got the seasonal plum & fig danishes! And chocolate mousse with mascarpone cream.
Absolutely the best eclair I have ever experienced in my life.
I've consistently been impressed with the pastries and baked goods at Rosellini's. I absolutely love their lemon meringue tart - it's a must try! Plus their danishes, eclairs, and croissants are by far the best I've had in Seattle. I don't drink coffee so I can't speak for the quality there, but their chai tea latte is fine. Nothing outstanding but the basked goods more than make up for mediocre drinks for me!
I was beyond thrilled to get to try Rosellini's. I decided to go for their pastries after my usual bakery was pretty much sold out on a late Sunday afternoon. The staff member who assisted me was cheerful and patient with my questions! I got two different kinds of tarts, lemon and caramel, which I will eat later today. They look beautiful. I also got two gougères, which were especially delicous when I lightly warmed them. The highlight of my selection was without a doubt their rhubarb Danish. Never have I had such a perfect pastry! The flake on the Danish was immaculate, not too dense and not too airy. The filling was the perfect amount of sweetness with the punch of the rhubarb shining through. Overall, it had the best ratio of filling to pastry I've ever had, with no competition of quality between the two; perfectly balanced and deeply impressive.
The vanilla eclaires were also very good and beautiful in design. Again, the filling to pastry ratio had one of the best balances I've ever had in an eclaire. The flavor of the vanilla was decently present but not prominent. The last and weakest item that I purchased was their vanilla macaron. If you are a sugar cookie lover, then you would adore this cookie but I found it a cloyingly sweet experience with limited vanilla flavor. I must admit that I had to go cleanse my palate with some olives after coffee didn't do the trick. I would be interested to give their other flavors a chance, especially their Huckleberry and their Mexican chocolate!
Overall, a five star experience. Please be aware that only one customer is allowed at a time and plan accordingly.
Super cute spot in a lil neighborhood full of gems!
Stopped in for the first time only for a few macarons, and was surprised to see what a nice selection of sweets they had. Macarons were quite tasty, with a great variety of flavors - so I had to snag quite a few!
Really appreciated their caution with COVID as well, allowing one customer in the store at a time as well as only allowing the employees to touch the screen at the register. Things like that go a long way to let me know the care they put into their food, customers, and employees.
Definitely had a ton of different sweets that I will be back to try again soon when I am in the area! Looking forward to it already.
Our favorite little spot for a croissant and a cup of breve. We love the little patio in the back, super cute and cosy! All the pastries we’ve tried over the years were on point! Never dissappoint
The most awesome place serving eclairs in whole Seattle. If it was possible I would have given more stars. This place serves the most delicious eclairs I have ever had. Oh MY GoD!!! they are just melt in the mouth kind of situation. I am literally running out of words describing them. It is a cute little space in Ballard, which I don’t think many people know about.
I highly highly recommend this place.
One of my new favorite Seattle bakeries! This place is small and quaint with limited seating but has lots of delicious baked goods options! Also a wide variety of coffee, tea, and espresso drinks. I highly recommend their seasonal egg nog latte option. One of the best I've had. I also had the savory ham and gruyere croissant which was flaky and buttery and melted in my mouth. I definitely want to go back and try the sweet options. They looked fantastic! Another benefit is lots of free street parking and very friendly staff.
One of the top three bakeries in North Seattle, in my opinion. Excellent baked goods and friendly staff that likes to see local faces. A tiny seating patio out back that is a treat in the summer. Across the street from other local favorites. Street parking only. (Edit, this review was for the previous bakery that was here)
This place is the real deal. The pastries are awesome. The almond croissant is the best I've ever eaten. The drip coffee is even delicious. The only bad thing is the parking. It's a very crowded location with little parking options. It's totally worth it though.
I had cortado and a chocolate croissants. Both were delicious! There was a line at around 8:30 on a Friday morning, but it went ahead quickly.
A french/Italian patisserie, bakery, and espresso cafe with friendly staff taking your order and making coffee up front, and there is an quiet outdoor gravel covered patio and garden in the back. Because its in the middle of a residential area, there is no noisy street. Wonderful place to relax and read on sunny day. Best espresso in the city. And croissants that should make it on the Seattle top 10 croissant list
One of my favourite bakeries in Seattle. Delicious almout croissants!
was surprised how good their bakeries and drinks were! we stopped by without knowing the place and want to def. go back! I had latte which was so smooth and my little girl had fresh squerzed OJ which was delicious. treid their croissant and vanilla macaron and they were very gooooood!
This might be the best quality baked goods I've ever eaten. Not kidding. Scones, a so-so food, are made here on a level that destroys any other scone I've ever had. But it doesn't end there... delicious cheddar/bacon crescents, mastery of lemon meringue treats, and so much more! Cannot recommend this place enough. Worth an out of town visit!
This place is always worth the line up. Amazing coffee (baristas are excellent) and they have perfected the croissant.
Good coffee and bakery but may need to wait for half an hour on a Saturday morning.
Edit: 45 minutes. Don’t waste your time on a weekend morning. Try come a little earlier or after 10.
I really like the croissant and sourdough bread from Rosellini’s.
Lovely pastries and an excellent cortado today. Coffee depends on who you get.
Hands down THE best bakery. Worth a flight to eat at. Get the kouign-amann, croissant, and apple pastery for starters. Everything is amazing, the type of place you would move to live closer to.
One of my favorite bakeries in the Ballard area. Rosellini's is not cheap but that said the pastries are top-notch and worth every penny. I would recommend the cheddar scallion scone and grugere. The scone is the best scone I have ever had, full stop.
Lighthouse coffee beans are served for espresso drinks and the baristas conscientious and professional.
Nice coffee and baked goods! Tried 'Milk chocolate hazelnut mousse' and croissant, both were really good.
Absolutely one of the best bakeries in Seattle. I actually hesitate to describe how delicious their creations are for fear of overwhelming this tiny neighborhood spot. Kouign Amann that are the perfect texture and balance of salty and sweet. Fantastic macarons. Scrumptious desserts. Please don't go there and buy it all.
No doubt the best pastries in Seattle. Please make more to keep up with customers! Came by the other morning at 11am and there were no more apple turnovers. Silly, yes, but someone's gotta say it!
Had a very good, flaky ham and cheese croissant there. Delicious. Also, they made me a tasty americano and their cakes, tarts, etc look spectacular! I look forward to trying them some time.
A hidden jem! I ordered tiramisu cake for birthday cake. Loved it!! Super good! I will definitely come back!
Literally obsessed with Rosellini's! Come for the pastries, stay for the coffee.
I have visited twice and the quality of the baked goods is top-notch. The most recent time I visited, I enjoyed the huckleberry danish I had. The fruits were fresh and the pastry flaky. A go-to bakery if in the area.
Kouign Aman still tastes the same as Honore's!! Thank you for keeping that recipe! I especially enjoy biting into your crispy croissants and thinking of what other goodie I might try afterwards. That specially made fruit jam was particularly delish and I bought the strawberry jam to enjoy with ice cream or cream or whatever else it can pair with. Great selection!!
Love this place! It's a real Ballard gem with the best croissants and macrons in the North End. Little patio in back is secluded and a nice place to sit, chat, and enjoy coffee and treats.
I went back after many months if sampling croissants and beverages at Seattle's many wonderful cafes, and I was struck at how clearly superior their croissants are. If only there weren't those long lines of customers.
Aming the best bakeries in Seattle, these guys are a dependable neighborhood favorite! My experience is that the consistency of the pastries is improving, but their overall goal is high quality!
Pastries itself great, but hard to get them fresh and personal not seems to be helpful neither friendly at least a guy at counter. Was there twice both times same guy was grumpy) when I was inquiring about fresh hot croissants, a little bit overpriced...
Recently, Rosellini's moved up to our #2 because of their range. We've been there every weekend for the past month. During our last visit, pickings were pretty slim. But that won't stop us from beelining that way this Saturday. Enjoy!
I heard this place had the best croissant in the city. However they dont use enough butter... It was real bread-y
*** In Short ***
Kouign amann. Try it.
*** In Depth ***
I lived in Ballard for two years, and in all that time, I never managed to make it to Honore, despite many half-hearted attempts to do so. Since we were getting brunch right across the street though, I couldn't resist finally stopping in and getting a pre-meal snack.
Not wanting to overdo it, I stuck with the highly recommended kouign amann, for which I have no previous experience to compare it against. As a standalone pastry though, it's quite delicious: buttery, flaky, slightly sweet, and just a tough of salt to balance things out. And I imagine it's infinitely better after being toasted slightly in a toaster oven!
***Accessibility Info***
Venue - Not much in the way of tabling, with some high top counters by the window, and nothing else aside from some chairs outside. The bakery itself is pretty accessible otherwise, with most (if not all) items in the display cases being eye level or lower, sitting down.
Bathroom - Didn't try them, and not sure they had any public ones anyway.
This little hidden gem is dangerous. They have a decent croissant dough, macarons, and a tiny garden seating area.
And they're next to Delancey and the Pantry.
If you're there for a Pantry cooking class, grab a danish while you wait. You'll be much happier for doing so.
Love, love, love this bakery! The most delicious and authentic tasting pastries, friendly staff and overall great atmosphere! This place is a gem and it's a must at least once a week!
This place freaking rocks. Oh my god just take my word & get one of every macaron you can eat. Oh my god you cannot eat enough of them. Granola good too!
Wow! I finally found my go to bakery! Everything is delicious and the customer service is welcoming. Highly recommend.
This is one hidden gem that I hope stays that way. I love their Kouign Amann and Gougères so much that I take out-of-town guests here before we do anything at Pike's Place. I love to let them sample what Seattle has to offer outside of tourist traps.
Sadly for those people who rated this highly they have never really had Good French Baked goods. Burnt is not better and everything they server is over baked to the point of loosing supple elasticity that is the mark of excellent French pastry.
Easily the best croissant I’ve ever had. Crispy and flakey on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Great coffee.
I'm croissant lover.. for me, the place make the BEST ones in Seattle area.
Don't forget to grab an eclair. It's the best too
Great pastries and baked goods spot! Small interior, but there are seats in front which are nice to sit in and watch the people in line at the Fat Hen.
Great coffee and baked goods! A hidden gem in Ballard
The blueberry danish I had here was delicious and the employees are really nice!
Best coffee in Seattle. I’m not even kidding. The cheddar and scallion scones are killer, too.
Well worth the wait in the Mother's Day morning line. The cappuccino was excellent, as was the ham and cheese croissant.
Best croissant I've had in my life. It's been 3 years and I still think about them
Phenomenal bakery with ridiculously good treats. Coffee isn’t as good, as the espresso is highly bitter.
Wonderful little bakery with kind staff and incredible pastries and cakes
A lovely little cafe with exquisite pastry, a wide selection of coffees/teas and friendly staff. I always enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of this little cafe.
Top quality macarons and generally good pastries. Quiche slightly burnt, service is good. Space is poorly suited for patrons.
Great coffee and pastries! Always busy, great customer service, sometimes a long line out the door. Bring a smiling face and enjoy!
Stopped in while waiting for fat hen. So glad we did! Pastries were delicious and flaky. Kouign-amann was especially yummy.
This place is dangerous! Just be warned. It's also really difficult to choose from so many awesome treats. I'd tell you to stop in, but I'd also have to recommend going for a long walk after. ;)
Another french bakery nearby Besalu. The reason to come here are the outstanding macaroons. Also, the tarts and croissants are excellent.
Cannelle is my favorite. Jim loves the chocolate eclairs. Always friendly and que may be long but goes quickly
I LOVED everything I tried. Simply can't wait to go back and try everything else! Absolutely my new favorite in town! now I know what I've been missing!
Wonderful choices. Each tastier than the next. You should try everything! Nothing will disappoint and new favorites will be found!
So many excellent pastries that it's difficult to just walk away with one. The chocolate and vanilla eclair is divine!
Best chocolate croissants in Seattle! You'll want TWO pieces of their leek and gruyere quiche!
I especially love the gougére and the canelé, but I've never had a bad pastry, or even a mediocre one, from Rosellini's.
This places is great, fancy euro style pastry.
This is by far the best bakery I’ve tried in Seattle. Pastries, cakes, breads, it’s all delicious
The best croissant and cup of coffee in Seattle -end of review.
My favorite pastry shop in Seattle. Cute outdoor seating space in the back. Get the kouign amann
A great place for pastries. They have the best plain croissants and chocolate éclairs in Seattle.
I love there ham and cheese croissants and the éclairs and macaroons and pastries. So basically everything is good there!
The Kouign Amann is delicious, buttery with a nice caramel crunch on the top. So bad for you, but so good.
Great canelé, baguettes, kouign imann, and good coffee and quiche. Seating is limited but the food is amazing.
Really good coffee and friendly neighborhood meeting place. A few outdoor seats and seating in the back if it rains.
Beautiful pastries and breads. Great service. I feel fortunate to have them in our neighborhood.
amazingly flaky croissants and choc croissants! other amazing pastries and cakes/tarts... . wow!
Delicious pastries, yummy eclair, but sadly, coffee was burned.
The almond croissant was pretty good but a little small. Coffee isn't bad
Great baked goods and service! I can see why people were lining up to get in.
Lovely coffee and pastries. Took us a year to figure out there's courtyard seating out back
Covid-19 August update: walk in service as usual, only 1 person allowed in the store. Fast service.
Delicious pastries, nice people. Fun to sit outside. Could use a couple more tables.
Nice selection of macarons, but they are very expensive. Other than the macarons, the selection of baked goods is limited.
This is the best bakery in Seattle. Show up early to beat the line!
Truly amazing puff pastry. Delicious chi. Sweet staff
Best Kougin-amann I ever tried. Bit pricy but you're going to spend at least an hour here backing on the sun.
Their croissants are awesome, plain and almond are my fav.
Best croissant I’ve had in Seattle!
Best savory egg pastry I’ve ever had!
Best eclairs in Seattle, highly recommend.
kouign amann was ok. service was ok. the big wooden lounge chairs in front are very comfortable!

Delicious pastries and excellent coffee all in one charming spot.
Delicious, beautiful pasties and tea with a lovely outdoor seating area.
Fantastic croissants and pain au chocolat. Come hungry, grab a coffee, and enjoy.

Name has changed, but it's still fantastic!
Delicious almost croissant and a nice not too sweet iced chai
Best fresh juice. Amazing bakery. Smooth coffee.

Their Canelé is sooo good!!

Best quiche ever, and unbelievably rich chocolate moose.
