Reviews of Petit Pierre Bakery - Magnolia

Petit Pierre probably knows how to make great pastries, but my visit turned out disappointing. I got a croissant in the early morning after a short wait in line. It looked great, having a nice form with delicate golden layers. The problem is not in the craft, but in the freshness. I have had tons of croissants and this one simply felt not great, slightly soft and moist, with no aroma of butter, it was lackluster. All I needed was saving half of it until I got home and heating it up in the oven for five minutes. Boom, it turned out excellent: flaky and aromatic. An 8am croissant that is not freshly out of the oven, for whatever reason, is not a good croissant.
Update: I revisited Petit Pierre and this time I had better experience. The twice baked chocolate croissant is crunchy and tasty. Bread pudding is satisfying too.

Beautiful bakery in Magnolia, with plenty of options from pastries to macaroons, chocolates and wines. Their staff was also super friendly and suggested a pastry that I wouldn’t normally go for. My cappuccino was great, but the berry caffloutis was disappointing, as the bottom was soggy by the time I got home (15 mins later).
I’ll definitely return here and try out their other goodies. There is street parking and a great bookstore next door.

Our to-go neighborhood bakery run by a local French family. Authentic pastries (they make a mean full puff pastry as the base) and so everything is obviously amazing. They also have good baristas who can pull strong espressos for a real fancy cuppa. Highly recommend!

Stopped in on a recommendation from a nearby business and somewhat randomly chose a few items to take home.
Every item was truly delicious, even a couple of days later.
Popped the quiche in the oven at 350 for maybe 15 minutes and it was delectable.
The butter croissant was flaky and tender with the flavor you desire/expect when ordering a croissant.
The blueberry muffin was probably my favorite as it was not overly sweet, but carefully created with subtle sweetness from the outer crust and had the BEST texture. Almost reminding me of a cornmeal texture but not quite? Sounds strange but it so works!!

This place takes me back to Tuscany! The Italian sandwich is simple yet sublime. The lattes consistently excellent. I love getting to hangout here when I visit my family.

Easily the best bakery in Washington, and I would argue that it's the best I've been to in the U.S.
Most bakeries are ran like a business, and they ignore quality ingredients and a passion for baking. You can taste the boring-ness in every bite. But not here.
Petit Pierre's is ran quite a bit different. With the first bite of *any* pastry made here, you know that the bakers have a passion for what they're doing.
When you walk in, not only are you greeted by the friendly staff (who remember your name and your usual coffee order) but the AROMA. As soon as your crack open the door, you are transported to a small town cafe in France. The smell of butter, sugar, cinnamon, fresh fruit and warm bread is absolutely amazing.
I can't talk this place up enough. I spent a few months in Toulouse as well as Montauban, France and have been on the search for the perfect bakery since. I have found it. This is the closest thing you'll get to authentic French baking without having to fly to Europe.

Obsessed with this bakery! The staff are always so kind and welcoming whenever I go in - and I LOVE their seasonal offerings. Petit Pierre has become a staple in my weekend routine!

There's not too many legit French croissant bakeries in the Mountlake Terrace area but this place is wonderful lots of yummy treats. But I will get there early because a lot of it gets sold out by 11

This is a newly discovered but already much beloved establishment in Magnolia villiage. Discovered as part of a mini-vacation, now a daily ritual for the duration and beyond. Not only is this a genuine family run business with really good quality pastries and coffee, they are also in a marvelous spot with shade and numerous interesting shops near by. Pick up a book next door and enjoy a read with your morning coffee. The pistachio chocolate croissants are highly recommended.

Oh mais oui! What on earth is a bakery like this doing in a place like Magnolia Village? I have no idea. But it was featured in a recent Weekly Yelp, and my buddy lives out in Magnolia, so I figured it was worth a try. And yes... yes it is definitely worth the trip.
This bakery has been here for a while under another name, but somewhat recently changed hands, got a new name, underwent a menu revamp, and is now Petit Pierre Bakery. The owners are VERY French. The pastries are VERY good. And the coffee? Stumptown. 'Nuff said.
I broke diet to sample an eclair - specifically a salted caramel eclair. And it blew my mind. One of the best eclairs I've had in a long, long time. I also sampled the ham and cheese croissant (a regular croissant stuffed with ham and swiss and cooked in a panini press) and a brioche. Both were also very good. Other French options in the case include numerous croissant options, gateaus, pain de voyage, meringue, macarons, and other tasty treats. The offerings skew heavily toward the sweet side of things, but you can find some savory options here and there. Next time I stop in, it will be gateau all the way.
Mad props to the quality of baked goods coming out of this kitchen. But be ready. The locals have figured it out, and this place is jam packed on weekend mornings. And by weekend afternoons, the case starts looking a little bare. But don't shy away even then. We got our eclairs at around 3pm on a Saturday and they were freshly piped from the kitchen. Mmmmm...

Pumpkin Meringue Croissant was AMAZING! I wish I could have that for Thanksgiving instead of pie. I also had a regular Croissant and Palmier which were both excellent. Great service as well.
Kelsey Ann
Cute French cafe/bakery with fantastic seasonal drinks and sweets. I got the eggnog latte and it was perfect, not too sweet but still had that eggnog flavor! Definitely will be a regular here.
Suman Grewal
This place is one of my top bakeries to go to. The croissant was a honeycombed beauty. The eclair was light, airy while the custard was delightfully creamy. Chocolate chip cookie was thin, soft, and chewy with lovely brown butter notes to balance the chocolate chunks. There are so many different little gems to try out that I feel like I'll end up making a lot more trips here.
David Roberts
Petit Pierre is the closest to France you can get in Seattle. Wonderful treats and excellent service.
geneva curry
Super friendly and amazing food but their timer was off and served frozen egg. They were nice about it and brought out another one but it was also frozen. I didn't want to say anything else so we just left but other than some technical issues it was very good.
Kael Kristof
Amazing neighborhood French bakery, with a fresh selection of so many creative pastries in addition to great coffee, bread, sandwiches, and quiches.
Char Beck
This place is a legit French Bakery, no nonsense. All there. All tasty and good stuff. If they are open, you are lucky!
billie larson
I ordered a chocolate caramel cake for my birthday and it was absolutely delicious! Every single guest was raving about the cake and I cant put my fork down on these leftovers! This little bakery is my favorite, from chocolate croissants to birthday cakes, the work is superb. The staff are wonderful people and are the most kind people I have met.
Poornima Balakrishnan
Lovely bakery in our neighborhood. We love going here over the weekends to grab their freshly baked croissants. Like us, many neighborhood folks flock here . They used to run out of goods but have been replenishing real quick over the last year. This way even on days we rise late, we get the goodies. Their drinks are a miss often but the bakery treats are lovely. I am a fan of their seasonal goods.

Updated 6/12: Petite Pierre fully refunded my whole purchase, which I actually didn't expect. My friend (who the birthday cake was for) had talked to them the day after the party and they refunded it right away. They were very apologetic for the whole experience.
Based on my experience, if they make mistakes and you let them know, they'll work to make it right.
Updated 5/26: I ordered a Chocolate Caramel Cake for a friend’s birthday. She’s been in the food world and knows food. The cake was supposed to have roasted hazelnuts and caramel and it just tasted like a basic chocolate cake without caramel or hazelnut flavor.
Leading up to getting this basic cake, I had a frustrating and inconsistent ordering experience with them. It might be worth asking for what you want in writing, as I was told three different things by three different employees and none of it matched up.
When I finally picked up my products, the reason for one of the inconsistencies (which by the way was being charged $5/cupcake when I was initially told $3/cupcake): “we don’t usually do cupcakes so we didn’t know what to charge you, and we miscommunicated”.
Really frustrating. Won’t order from them again.
Lindsay Lee
They have some good food, but sadly I have had some negative experiences at this place. I ordered a matcha latte once and I could hardly taste any matcha flavor. I checked the liquid and it was almost white as if there was almost no matcha in there. Wish I had taken a pic. I know matcha is expensive but it is unacceptable to skimp that much. I gave them another chance recently and went again. I don’t even care about being greeted because I know workers are busy (I have also worked as a barista before) but for some reason they didn’t greet me, but they greeted each person/group who came in behind me. I mean that’s just rude :/ it wasn’t even that busy, there were 1-2 people in there before me.
Annette de Soto
They changed ownership in the last year and though we enjoyed the previous baked goods, these are even better. A really good selection of both sweet and savory croissants, all very tasty and with lovely texture. And a slightly salted chocolate chip cookie that our daughter thoroughly enjoys (at least once a week). Their breakfast quiches are also delicious. Fair warning, the lines can be long on weekends. I'd recommend trying them on a weekday morning but that's when we go to avoid the lines so please try them on a weekend afternoon instead. 🙂
Justin Waters
Excellently prepared classic French pastries and fun interpretations of American classics. A well done coffee bar with good espresso pulls. Small, charming, well run - a Magnolia darling!
Johnny Ray
Amazing bakery in the heart of Magnolia. I love their blueberry muffins, tarts, and cookies. The kids really love their ‘pop tarts’, which are better than the boxed variety in every conceivable way. The staff has always been friendly and provided great recommendations.
Ted Lapis
The most wonderful place in the Seattle area is Petite Pierre Bakery.
Jacob M
This has been my go-to spot for years. The customer service is superb and the food is now topnotch. Thank you all. However the flow of the new layout makes the line move much slower and as i wait in line, i hear more & more complaints from customers in line. I know this is a growing pain with the new layout, and dont advise anyone to be deterred by the line. Its worth it 100%. Maybe an express lane for coffee only customers? No idea honestly, but wish nothing but success
James Campbell
Who doesn’t love a pastry or 12? Especially if all of them are perfectly baked and crafted! Petit Pierre is a Magnolia and Seattle favorite. Best place to meet friends and indulge. Or you can even go alone and indulge, no one will judge. It’s worth it!
Kevin Timken
Yummy yummy yummy. Great baked goods and pastries. Always a treat
Helen Wang
Ordered the pastry variety box on DoorDash for one haha. Outstanding croissants on the whole—the creative sweet and savory we’re done in a tasty way that did not compromise the quality of the pastry (i.e., pastry remained flaky despite ample opportunity for soggy bottoms).
Docked one star because the pain au chocolat were bready and stale, and I know a bakery of this caliber can do better…
Tom Elwood
Incredible perfect pastries somehow achieve that perfect balance of crisp crust, chewy interior, and lightness. A magical combination.
Alyssa J
They went through a remodel a couple of months ago and it has made such a difference to the customer experience. Hopefully, it works for back of house just as well.
The pastries and other goodies here are very reasonably priced and are so delicious.
Jordan Murphy
Wow! AUTHENTIC French Bakery here in Seattle! From the ambiance to the delicious-looking pastries this place has everything a typical French Bakery would have (though Americanized just a bit... it does need to sell items after all!)
Everyone was so sweet.... I did get any names but I was helped by a *gorgeous* and very young very sweet girl as well as an older gentlemen who was Parisian (we chatted for 2 seconds about France). Perhaps he's the owner or manager.
Everything I tried was outstanding (and I did try a few things!) and it was great to sit and relax there. I will DEFINITELY be back and recommend it along the way to anyone I meet that's in need of a good and yummy place for treats! :)
A bientôt!
Kirill
Amazing Vegan Croissants!! And lye rolls!! Delicious Matcha latte! All the good things!! And very friendly to cyclists <3 a hidden gem in Magnolia!
Melbourne Delaney
Whenever I'm in the Magnolia neighborhood this is the spot I'm most drawn to for a quick nibble. Their savory croissants, such as their French onion and brie, are delicious and the pistachio pain au chocolate is a wonderful combination of sweet and nutty flavors in a buttery croissant. Le Petit Pierre is among the best bakeries in Seattle, which says a lot.
Mayu
One of the best French bakery in town !
qu bit
Decent selection, well-balanced pastries, and fairly friendly staff.
Suggest:
1. Split the customer lines into a fast-grab & not-fast grab line. If someone is picking up a coffee or a pastry they should not have to wait for patrons who are picking up items that require long preparation.
2. Enforce the capacity rules in the store, do not let guest (and their kids) roam in and out of the shop to pick-up items AND once the order has been placed, have those patrons stand in a designated area to not disrupt the flow of other guests

I’ve been in a few times. Employees are always friendly, welcoming and efficient. Coffee is great. Cookies, breads and pastries always tasty and fresh. Very clean with social distancing measures in place. Plenty of street parking and outdoor seating available. Their seasonal king cake is a must try!
marlee mckibbin
Love their croissants and their baguette sandwiches. Every thing else looks so good.
Selina Tang
I love the colors at this bakery. Their coffee is good! Very friendly staff.
TheKayopot
Tasty pastries, beautiful, variety…. What else do I need!!
Good coffee too.
eleanor doughty
had an americano here, which was very good. Benches and chairs outside are great for people watching. It’s a popular spot!
K S
The bakery always serves up delicious food. I do find that each time I visit, the customer service doesn't feel very inviting. It feels less about making sure we have a good experience and more about getting the next customers in line.
Tristan Vargas
Wow! You can tell the owner takes pride in what he does, the food is beautiful and well presented, the staff are courteous and polite, the prices are fair, all of this makes 5 stars in my opinion.
Great work guys, I'll be telling my friends!
Colleen
Great friendly staff and owners. Bella makes a wonderful coffee. All other Bakery items that I've had have been perfect. They're even happy to help make custom cakes for you!
I feel so lucky that they chose to open a business in Magnolia.
See you again next week!
thank you, Colleen
Narmin
The dark chocolate mocha and breakfast sandwich are to die for, especially together.
Dvir A
Just our favorite French bakery in town. No seating inside, just elegant small tables on the curbside under the shady magnolias, like a real French experience.
Shafeen Mahmud
I love some of their pastries so much I get tempted to give a bad review when they run out 😁.
But seriously, my favorites are their croissant sandwiches, pistachio chocolate bread, orange chocolate croissant (seasonal), nutella macaron, and ofc their coffee.
❤️

I love this bakery! My grandchildren and I made at least weekly excursions for cookies, breakfast treats and coffee BC (before Covid). The smart owner reset his floor plan so you walk right up to it, order and pick up your goodies. Lovely.
Rahul Dodhia
We thought the hiccups with the new ownership would be smoothed over after some time. But the coffee is still mediocre, and they are disorganized so that our orders are often wrong, especially special orders. Some of the pastries are still decent, but I no longer make this place a habit.
Russell Hendricks
Excellent. One of the customers coming out of the shop said everything was good; that we could not go wrong. My guess is, he was right. We had an apple turnover and a blueberry scone. They were both great.
Anya Heitman
Great service and very delicious pastries! Matcha late needs a little work as it was a little clumpy. Would definitely come back for the cinnamon roll, it melts in your mouth!
Daniel Krivan
The best bakery in the city. Founded by two French pastry chefs who both earned their MOF and now owned and operated by local pastry chefs. The quality is unchanged and is of the highest quality. I love this place.
Ryan Hager
I just had an almond croissant and a shot in the dark. The croissant was pretty good- almost as good as Bakery Nouveau. The coffee here is better than most others- can't hide bad/mediocre coffee in a shot in the dark. And, the staff were very friendly. Doesn't get much better.
Mara Joya
Lovely place for lunch. I go here once a week and have their soups (they change them daily I believe).
The lattes are wonderful. The owner is very nice and welcoming.
Wonderful bread at reasonable prices.
My favorite is the veggie quiche. Very filling and delicious.
The atmosphere is heavenly for me. They are closed on Mondays, so plan accordingly.
Nicholas Jones
Lots of soccer moms yacking about their rich husbands that are never around
CC Sevex
The veggie quiche was amazing. My new favorite, though it is a single portion size it was so rich I had to save the rest for lunch. (And it still tasted incredible)The staff are both friendly and professional, prices were reasonable. It's a great place to have a peaceful breakfast and window watch.
Revés
Excellent French butter croissant and hot chocolate!
Varun Jain
Always the first place to get great baked goods and coffee in the morning in Magnolia. Their savories are my favorite. Ganache hot chocolate is perfect in the Seattle gray weather
Angela Merritt
Magnolia favorite! Great bakery, friendly service. Some things are very colorful and very sweet but they get a lot of kids in there so it makes sense. Kougin aman is to die for. Croissants are excellent as are the sandwiches and quiche. And in summer the macaron ice cream sandwich is great! I'll be loyal to this place forever. Even if I do prefer my macarons without rainbow sprinkles. :)
Erika Oberle
Absolutely surprising experience from start to finish. We went to grab a loaf of bread and couldnt help grabbing a lemon tart. It was one of the only things left and was amazing. We went later in the day (tip:go early so your selection is wider!) So the pastries were running out- testament to the deliciousness across the board! The tart was great and the bread, pain au levain that we picked up was perfect for breakfast the next day. When we picked it up the lady helping us was great and only complimented by the owner coming over to let us know the difference flours used in the bread. Great staff! Knowledgeable and it looked like they enjoyed working with their customers and their beautiful baked goods. Glad we moved to the neighborhood and looking forward to coming back.

1/2018 update to 4 stars: All of the staff are welcoming (nice adjustment) and genuine. This is a nice surprise and it makes it easier to visit often. I've also tried many more pastries and items from the menu. The roll cake slices when available are exceptional, so is the new Breakfast Cookie. Soup and sandwiches are tasty and simple; filling and comforting especially when grilled in the panini press. Like any bakery you'll need to try everything, maybe some things twice, to find your favorites.
8/16/17: This is my 2nd update to my original review. If you see a young blond girl working the counter, run! She has no manners or human response. #RUDE!! I try to support small business andf independent cafes but not when staff is unwelcoming. Too bad, because the other gals and Alex are very nice!!
Updating review end of May 2017: Still mostly a nice staff (one really hates her job), owner is very helpful, excellent Stumptown coffee. Expensive prices. Cozy interior makes it loud and crowded. Pastries look good but aren't the best tasting or quality. Quiche is awful; its all crust. The croissant, not flaky or buttery, (try the French-owned bakery in Belltown instead, or fly to France). Macarons are stale. The gluten-free peanut butter cookies in the bag on the shelf are decent. I give the pastries 2 stars (edible), coffee 5 stars. Total is a GENEROUS 3 stars. I love supporting small business but they have to be worth it.
Jeff Lee
Incredible pastries through all ownership changes. New remodel is super cool too!
keffaz
Great white chocolate matcha croissant and Mille feuille! Amazing quality and friendly staff!
Carlie Phillips
Good food. Sandwiches, pastries, tarts, cookies, salads, coffee. A few outdoor tables. Usually a line. You can pre order holiday pies.
Shelby Hines-Elzinga
The owner is a charming french man he comes to work in a tie that color coordinates with the cafe's decor. The waffles with fruit and whipped cream are such a deal for $4 and the pastries are always a hit
Lynn Jouini
Superb Galette des Rois, just out of the oven and looking beautifully golden and flaky, filled with creamy almond frangipane inside and hand-scored on top to resemble a crown 👑.
On January 6th the three kings visited baby Jesus, so picking up and eating freshly baked Galette des Rois throughout the month of January is our favorite yearly tradition!
Also, I’m a sucker for a good Matcha Latte and their Pistachio Matcha Latte is outstanding!
Adriana Manfredini
Ordered a surprise bag from Too Good to Go app and got three delicious treats, my favorite was the bacon egg cheese croissant.
Thomas Schmidt
Excellent pastries and service. The owner is a master of his craft and offers a pleasant down to earth atmosphere. I do wish they'd bring back the granola with Chocolate and Bananas mixed in though
Carl Robinson
A little bit of Paris in Magnolia and on a nice Sunday morning! The owner was sincerely convivial and the Barista spoke to every baby that was wheeled in. (The bakery is named after the owner's little boy.) The pastries were very good, as good as any corner cafe in Paris. And... I didn't have to fly to France and watch my step as I walked to the bakery (no dog poop, which is a natural hazard in Paris)! But... more importantly, my espresso was very good. Stumptown coffee and a La Marzocco espresso machine and a Barista who knows what she is doing and smiled at everyone! I will go back.
4/9/17 - It's been at least a year that I have now been going to Petit Pierre almost weekly. I walk in and Alex, the owner, says, Bon jour, one Quiche Lorraine and a tall drip coffee, yes? I keep coming back for good reason. Delightful!
Hyacinthe Nare
I visited my friend in Magnolia and she introduced us to Le Petit Pierre. Then we tried a well-known french bakery downtown Seattle. Le Petit Pierre has been by far my favorite and certainly the most French-inspired bakery in the area. The owner is convivial, the croissant and pain au chocolat are great. Petit Pierre bakery has become part of our daily routine during my time in Magnolia.
Steve Hunter
I would have given them 5 stars because the food is excellent but I can do without the "faux Parisian attitude" you sometimes get when you are waited on.
Lindsey Mayhall
Great beverages but their pastries are really where it’s at! If you like croissants then you’re in luck!
K C
Every cake i will ever buy will come from here. Every tart, eclair, petit fours from here. I had purchased a cake and petit fours for my mother's birthday this past weekend and my biggest regret was not grabbing enough buisness cards to hand out. Everyone was drooling over the unbelievable cakes and pastries. I am overwhelmed with how delicious this place is. Order for yourself and see what i am talking about. This is an absolute main stay and you will not be dissapointed.
Bryce Kerker
Super friendly and wonderful pastries. Not a ton of protein or healthy options.
Update: Over the last two years, lots of fun sandwiches and quiches have been added.
Laurie Jaeger
When ever I'm in Magnolia I love to visit Petit Pierre Bakery to eat their Yummy sweet and savory pastries; and see their Wonderful helpful & friendly staff!💕 …
Dmitry Sadakov
Love grabbing a latte here, quiches are great as well. The french owner Pierre is almost always in, taking your orders. Can get busy.
Mike Ondeck
Mt favorite coffee in magnolia. Stumptown beans are used and the French owner knows how to pour a proper cappuccino. Excellent quiche and croissants at a good price.
Jacki Legs
Always very busy but line usually moves quickly. I love their breakfast pastries and matcha latte.
Marcel Smith
The food is good and you'll find a nice variety of different pastries. The downside is definitely the espresso based drinks. The drinks are lackluster and poorly made.
Jeremiah Miller
Incredibly friendly staff and wonderful pastries. The macarons were outstanding, try the lemon.
Johannes Eckert
Authentic french (parisien) bakery that has great breakfast options (croissants, maccerons, french toast, muffins) as well as tall grass bakery bread
— overall a unique place in Magnolia that gets you great artesian pastries!
A. Díaz
Tiny bakery. The service was very good. The pastry was absolutely delicious. Unfortunately the variety wasn’t that expansive and getting there using public transportation is quite a hassle.
ぽむぽむpomupomu
taste is great and portion is big.
Nick Magles
Friendly owner and staff, delicious food. I love their quiche! Just make sure you don't get there too late because they will run out of them.

Delicious sweet & savory pastries with lots of variety. A little on the pricy side but they're worth it!
Jinyi Bishop
Okay place. Pastry is good; staff and owner always nice and attentive. Wish there were more savory pastries/croissants. Way too many sweets.
Meredith Rock
This place has a friendly staff and amazing cinnamon rolls. The salted caramel waffle was not served warm but also delicious!
Oriana Basile
Delicious pasteries and coffee. Friendly staff, including a heavily-accented Frenchman that lends even more legitimacy to the bakery. Short line, quick in and out.

Nice atmosphere.
Pierre has a super charming accent😉 …
Karyn Porter
Nice staff. Yummy pastries. Great coffee. Very helpful & nice owners. This is a local hangout.
Mark Fajans
Was feeling a little homesick, and got an almond croissant that was nearly as good as getting one fresh right out of the oven at a French bakery.
Peter Pavlik
4th and Wall staple. Once you visit you'll come back for more. If you're lucky, the owner will speak in french and you can soak in completely.
Drew Wolfe
Ordered To Good To Go. App that help fights food waste. Got a good amount for only $4.99!
Elizabeth Rasmussen
Amazing bakery. Best croissant I’ve had in Seattle, highly recommend!

Magnolias' finest French bakery and Pierre actually takes your order, if you are dealing with Pierre.

Could be the best croissant I’ve had outside of France, says the person who studied abroad there

If you like real french bread (not the pretend stuff sold at the grocery store) then stop here and buy a baguette. I'd post a photo but already ate it.
