Reviews of Macrina Bakery & Cafe
Bruce Bailey
This place is excellent. Hand made"artisan" bakery. Unfortunately I've tried multiple offerings (see photo from hotel room) and they are all excellent. I'm actually glad I live in another state, or I'd weight 300 pounds.
If you are in Seattle, this place is worth searching out.

I had to spend a week working in Belltown, and Macrina was the most convenient place for morning espresso. How lucky I am that it is such a wonderful place!
The service is friendly, and the baked goods are amazing: both delicious and beautiful to the eye. I'm sure I gained weight during my stay.
I'll return if I'm ever in the neighborhood.

Came looking for some savory options for a quick brunch. The sandwiches are pre-made and can be heated up if desired. I ordered the CATE (cornetto, avocado, tomato, egg) sandwich. Good taste but thought it was pricey for the portion size.
Kat Pittman
Delicious spot for handcrafted pastries. Order ahead online to avoid long lines. The bialy sandwich, raspberry cornetto, and dill scone are fantastic!
Brad Wright
This place is absolutely great! An excellent selection of bagels pastries morning foods sandwiches soups… You name it! Service is on point and the people are super friendly. We sat inside but there was also an excellent area to sit outside as well. If I ever make it back to Seattle I’ll definitely be visiting again.

You don't have to go to a Macrina bakery to get Macrina baked goods because they are in almost every coffee shop in Seattle. The pastries aren't top-notch though. That's what annoys me when I see Macrina's stuff everywhere. Macrina's "croissant" is not even a croissant, but its Italian cousin called cornetto–a softer, sweeter, and less buttery version, basically a bad croissant. It breaks my heart to see "cornettos" everywhere in Seattle.
The biggest strength of Macrina is their variety and I give them credit for that. They have a lot to offer, breads, pastries, muffins, cakes, as well as breakfast sandwiches. A visit to Macrina can easily make a full breakfast. They are a bit pricey though, especially considering the quality and taste of the pastries are nothing spectacular.
This location in Belltown has only indoor seatings but they look cozy and people seem to enjoy spend some time here.

Noticed more vegan options in the pastry case last time I went! I didn’t buy these, but their chai is reliably good.
MaddiezMunchies
Gluten free raspberry coffee cake is amazing!!!! They have multiple other gluten free options, but note they are not celiac safe (they always tell you at the counter that they are not celiac safe if they see you are getting gluten free). The Belltown location is the best!

I worked around the corner for 4 years and enjoyed there baked goods for lunch and a morning break snack. There coffee is thoughtfully prepared with comforting. It's busy with limited seating and you will wait in line most mornings, but it's worth it! I particularly like the scones and cookies when they are fresh😊 FOLLOW ME for the best recommendations as I travel the world!

At the recommendation of our AirBnb host, we popped in here for some coffee and baked goods. We were not disappointed, even when coming in with high expectations. Macrina Bakery exceeded those expectations in the deliciousness of their food and coffee and the friendliness of their staff, even when we were pulling way too much luggage around the shop. It made for the best place to wait while we waited to drop off said luggage. I can't recommend them enough.

Bagels are really really good. We also get our coffee and pastries from Macrina and they are ways delicious!
Staff is super friendly and helpful too:)

It's wonderful they're open during this time! Finally got my hands on their baked goods. Pretty believable why they had a line outside their door!
We tried their everyone bagel, morning roll, and dill scone! Everything was absolutely delicious! Would go again and try their St. Patty's menu! They've the option to order online in advance. Go check them out macrinabakery.com

I was so lucky to stay right next to this place, so I was able to have a fresh bakery with expresso every morning. I have tried a few different bake and coffee. All these bake are so good. I felt like that I was in Europe picking the fresh morning bread.
Carlos Jauregui
Yummy bread and great treats. The staff is always nice. My go to's are olive bread, sourdough, salmon bagel and croissant! Usually I get coffee on the way out. Few seats available.
Matin Mavaddat
Cute bakery/cafe with variety of sweet and savoury breakfast options!
Tyler J
Popped in for a snack. Picked up the apple turnover and finished it before I got to the end of the street.
Jill L.
All time urban corner bakery
Pastries are yum, but the real stars are the loaves
Potato loaf is our household favorite- crunchy crust with soft spongy core!

Just a little bummed that I always feel like an inconvenience to everyone working at Macrina. Love the bakery, everything is delicious and fresh and the coffee is actually very good regardless of what you get. However, everyone is slightly morose. I had a lovely convo one morning with Bia and another person who made my coffee but then the next time I was there I over heard a conversation that 2 of the employees were having with a customer at the register. The jest was none of them like saying hi to people nor do they ever do it willingly. Just gross. Like that kind of convo should be done outside of work. At the time of the convo the bakery was full of customers and I had just ordered, everyone in the bakery could hear this exchange. Needless to say I’m put off by the lack of customer consideration. I totally support a casual vibe but can there be a little customer service education?

We visited prior the the indoor seating being closed and had a lovely breakfast. The breads and pastries we took home were really good and high quality as well.
christopher ashley
Easily the best customer service I've had in perhaps forever. I recently had surgery on my leg, making it so I'm unable to drive or even walk for the next few months. I wanted to make Valentine's day special for my wife, who has been doing all the "heavy lifting" with me laid up, so I decided to recreate her favorite breakfast from a local restaurant that was a Covid-casualty - Cinnamon Swirl French Toast.
The key ingredient was Macrina Cinnamon Swirl Brioche, which is only sold in their shops. The easy solution was to have it delivered via DoorDash but after a week of trying (unsuccessfully) to get the bread to show up in the app, I was about to give up. I had spoken with a few managers and none could get it working. As a last ditch effort, I called one last time and spoke with someone new, who listened to my story and tried every option they had - and it still wouldn't show up.
So, instead of telling me "too bad, sorry about that" - they offered to HAND DELIVER the loaf themselves. Obviously this is not standard service and was not to be expected, but they seemed moved by my plight and wanted to help out. I cannot express how grateful I am for their actions - there is certainly a reason they are the General Manager. Oh, and the French Toast was amazing. :)
Jenna Keller
Friendly service and great menu for artisan bread, brunch, lunch, a wide variety of drinks and treats. Their jam biscuit was top notch! They kindly can toast their sandwiches and I like how you can do half orders. There’s plenty of seating inside and some outside. Definitely going back for more!

This bakery has some surprisingly delicious food. Thought the baked goods in the display case would be dry but they kept it surprisingly moist. I had the cinnamon pinwheel and it was absolutely delicious. Perfectly crunch on the outside soft on the inside. Not too sweet and perfectly balanced. The mocha also paired extremely well but I wished the chocolate flavor was more prominent and the latte art could be more impressive.
Alpha
Just an ok bakery and the price is on the high side. The quiche is thin and sandwich is ordinary. However, the scone is unique and pretty good. I tried the sample bread, it is too dry to my tasted. One positive is there are windows in the kitchen, so you can see the pastry chefs in action.
Jeremy Block
Easily one of the best bakeries in America. Absolutely must by a baguette from here and some of the loaves that rotate daily. I recommend having lunch here and on a nice day sitting outside along the sidewalk. A sandwich and cookie could feed two for lunch.
Narine Harut
Very nice small Bakery, clean and well maintained, nicely designed and decorated, great customer service, nice selections of savory dishes and baked goods. My niece and I choose one dish (by the way they big enough for two people), so we asked if they can divided for us in separate plates, which they did, so we were be able to try some of the baked goods, and were amazingly delicious 😋, we had a great time and definitely will be back.
Mackenzie Brisben
Loved it here! Delicious breakfast sandwich (The Cate) and a cheerful vanilla latte. 🤍 …
annie zhiye wang
Came here for some coffee, and ended up getting the Morning Glory Muffin as well. It was super tasty, and the top of the muffin was crunchy because of the raw sugar on top. The shop is pretty spacious as well!
Jairo Barreto
Compared to La Parisienne French Bakery, Macrina Bakery is in a good location for tourist. They have plenty of room for their customers, great customer service, and friendly staff.
William Geary
Kind of disappointed. The 11$ sandwich was small and mostly bread and cheese. The $5 squash loaf was pretty spongy and average. For something so expensive I was expecting to be blown away…
k pannell
Super excited about Macrina's take and bake vegetarian lasagna!! Macrina just started offering the vegetarian option this week. It's yummy, chessy, and just as good, if not better than any offering at an Italian restaurant. There's a meat lasagna offering- however, beware though, it's made with pork instead of beef.
Therese
The Coconut cake with fresh berries was absolutely the best tasting and such a gorgeous looking cake too !! It was a total hit at the celebration of life party . It definitely helped cheer everyone up with a slice of wonderful delicious yummy cake. I Highly recommend this cake . I should have taken a picture of the cake !!! Next time !
PorcBelly
One of Seattle famous bakery with their bread sold at Whole Food and many other food outlets. They also serve breakfast and brunch on the weekend. Love their potatoes bread and many of their cakes and desserts.
Jason Barney
Spot on for a New Year's brunch. The huckleberry french toast is a star on the menu, and I can't live without lox if it's in proximity. Seating is really cramped. Watched a hungover patron puking outside on the sidewalk while a dog pooped next to her, adding to the Belltown ambience.
Shelley Holm
I bought one wonderful Raspberry Oat Bar. I scarfed it down quickly! FANTASTIC! I'll be back very soon for more!!!
Piyush Deshpande
Pastries are only average. Tried various baked goods to get a feel for various textures but underwhelmed on all of them. Strawberry muffin - bone dry on inside, Almond pinwheel - decent but needed more frangipane, dill scone - good flavor, average flakiness, raspberry Cornetto - nope, not great at all, too sweet and not upto standards Orange cream mini cakes- the glaze felt too fake and tasted of gelatine with fake orange flavor which was overpowering. Only thing I liked was the bread - Batard which was quite tangy and had a nice crust.
Sharon P.
Oh this place is a must if in the area. The baked goods, pastries, and breakfast sandwiches were top notch. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable.
Josh Guerrero
Both the breakfast sandwiches and lattes were made with care. The smooth espresso was a great break from overly sweet Starbucks drinks.
Bobby Weber
Seems like everything on the menu is great. I had the best Cinnamon roll ever. Need to come back
William Terrance
Super nice staff. VERY expensive breakfast biscuit. I believe these prices are inflated due to proximity to tourist attractions.
Amy
A great pastry place as always.
But I miss their table service brunch. Now you have to hope you can snag a table to eat, from folks drinking just a cup of coffee. Better to go elsewhere for breakfast.
ArcAngel
Super friendly staff! Delicious pastries! Lovely atmosphere!
Victoria Garner
Whether you're dropping in for your morning beverage, need a quick bite or just have a hankering for a sweet treat, Macrina delivers. Options include quiche, soups, sandwiches, a selection of salads, (their quinoa salad is the bomb!), and an array of delectable pastries. Coffees, teas, and fizzy beverages are also available here. Friendly staff and prompt service await you, and their patience is on point as you gaze in wide eyed wonderment at the plethora of goodies and try to make a decision on which scrumptious tidbit you imbibe. .and if indecisiveness plagues you, just ask for one to go!
Laura Alexandra
I ordered hot chocolate and a chocolate cornetto, both were really good and the service was good too!
Willie Porche
The place is nice and clean. Prices are a little high. $42 for breakfast for two. They love their herbs. Both dishes we had were full of them. Thr roasted potatoes were on point. Very good and crunchy on the outside with a soft silky interior . They don't' like to do substitutions, and a lot of their sandwiches are premade. No mayo in the shop. Coffee is great though. There is a lot of locals stopping in for wuick bites and ordering fresh bread for the day.
Corbin Elkins
Upon arrival to Seattle we had to wait several hours to get into our airbnb. We had a ton of luggage with us and did not want to drag it all around with us. We saw this little bakery coffee shop around the corner that had a steady flow of customers in and out. We decided to stop in for a bit. We sat down with all of our luggage and the staff weren't bothered by it. I purchased a sandwich on a fresh toasted baguette. The sandwich was absolutely wonderful. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They used quality meats and fresh greens. As we sat for awhile a homeless man came in and got a cup of water from their self serve watering hole. Nobody gave him and problems nor did he create any. The staff members treated him like just another patron. It warmed my heart to see that. The atmosphere is light and open with a very relaxing feel. It was a great place to take a few minutes to calm ourselves after some stressful traveling and to get a little nourishment. Lucky for us our airbnb is in the building right behind them and I get to enjoy their baked goods every day while here. I absolutely recommend this establishment.
Catie Cowden
Cozy cafe for a quick breakfast! We ordered the ham and cheese brioche and multigrain cereal. There was a good crowd for a Sunday morning, but the service and the food were very prompt.
Hailey Beaver
Our breakfast go-to during our stay in Seattle. Great employees, excellent food, good coffee!

MARKET SPECIAL
Spring vegetable omelette withs sauce verte and cheesy grits. Served with herb-roasted potatoes, fresh fruit and our Ciabatta Roll.
Holy moly this is amazing!
Robert Malcolm
Right when you walk in you see loads of absolutely gorgeous pastries. It's almost a sensory overload! Portions are incredible. I had the breakfast biscuit(sausage, egg and cheese) , substituted the sausage for bacon and a blueberry scone. Absolutely amazing! Perfect texture, balance of flavors etc.
Snaily
Amazing bakery location that offers brunch. They supply bread for so many restaurants in the greater Seattle area.
Traci Grant
Apple butter on a ham and egg sandwich? Heck yeah! Delicious food and coffee!
Shifali Gupta
Macrina is our favourite place to go for a cup of coffee, morning muffins, and banana cake. Love the ambience. The bakery items look fresh and tastes really good.
CB
I liked it. It had all the things you want at a coffee shop.
Emily Reyes Hogan
Some of the best baked goods I’ve ever tried. Delicious.
Garrett N.
Not my favorite Macrina location due to the crowds and difficulty in finding a table, but still quality breakfast and pastries to be had here.
G C
Nothing beat a fresh scent of warm bakery goods with super friendly staff. Absolutely loved their warm breakfast roll and morning muffin.
Sam Bricker
Wonderful customer service.
The pastry with jam on top was unbelievably good. Wonderful coffee . Bailys breakfast sandwich was delish. Highly recommended
Mark Reagin
They have a good variety of savory and sweet pastries, and a beautiful selection of breads. Their great food come with great service and chill minimally decorated cafe.
Keith Baker
Really nice friendly personal. Good coffee and pastries. Their strawberry lemonade is delicious.
Yaquelin Barajas M.
Great place. Tasty baked goods. And the staff were beyond my expectations, exceptional. Vegan friendly.
Leah Warren
LOVE Macrina! It is a tradition to visit every time I'm in Seattle. My favorite bakery!
Catherine Meyer
Excellent coffee, beautiful &delicious pastries
Nick O
A must-visit. The best bread you’ll buy in the area, hands down. Great variety and quality, made fresh - coffee is yummy and space is a little small but cozy!
Jannie Lung
Always amazing baked goods. The sandwiches and quiche are on point. Try the pecan sticky buns and thank me later.
Kaylee Jakubowski (LilithSerenada)
Great coffee that isn't overburdened with add-ins, thick and luxurious french toast with rich whipped cream cheese 👌 Overall, a great Belltown brunch stop …
Lauren Bennett
Went both mornings for breakfast. Such kind staff, amazing pastries and desserts, delish coffee. Breakfast sausage biscuit was AMAZING and kept me full till dinner time. The general manager was super awesome too, lent us his shovel during a bad snow storm during our visit. 11/10 recommend
Ruchit Gandhi
Tasty stuff! Tried their Morning Roll and Almond Pinch wheel and both were delicious. I like their downtown location which is very accessible and a nice place to stop by in the morning for some baked treats!
Would recommend to try the stuff they have here!
Pedro Paulo
My favorite bakery spot for breakfast. The Blueberry Scone is fantastic. Unfortunately they don’t warm up the scones. The store setup is not efficient and the employees don’t track the orders. It could be better if they improve the ordering process.
Kevin
Came in for a quick snack before heading to the Seattle Airport. The apple turnover was good and the service is what you would expect, nothing wrong.
Luai Zarour
Only had a few items from here but very tasty baked goods and pastries and friendly staff
Peter W
Great bread and food, didn't try the coffee so can't comment on that.
Karen Jensen
Such tasty baked goods. Love the Demi baguette sandwich and that little side salad with olives and almonds. Bagels! Quiche! Also, the service today was above and beyond. These folks know what they’re doing.
Christine Elzey
This place never fails me. Though I still haven't tried many of their breads, except the ones I buy at local grocery stores. Their bread is good, but when I'm at the actual bakery, I am definitely getting dessert or at the very least a sweet pastry like a morning glory roll. An excellent way to start your day! Prices are reasonable for the quality you are getting (it's not cheap but not absurd)... The prices clearly do not stop me from coming home with a sizable pink box of goodies every time.
Antonia G
A litte, beautiful bakery with quite good coffee and delicious pastries. The sandwich with goat cheese and onions is absolutely incredible, can hardly recommend!
Greetings from germany, see you next time!
Colleen Molloy
Delicious offerings, though a bit of a high price point.
Ruth RH
I absolutely love their mocha, which is more of a Mexican mocha. Also, the cashier was extremely nice and patient, given that I was new to the shop and needed a bit of assistance making sure my order was correct (I don’t like really sweet coffee drinks). It was perfect without needing adjustment. They know what they are doing and don’t need to hide the flavor of their coffee with excess sugar.
Dan K Chen
The cinnamon buns are great, muffins are also pretty good. The brioche ham and cheese breakfast sandwich is average.
Make sure the cashier repeat your order, it might be hard to then to heard you over the mask. I ordered the Morning bun but got muffin instead.
alexander samuel
the breakfast selection is excellent, employees are outstanding.
Madeline Stevenson
Our favorites brunch spot in Seattle. Great, friendly staff. Fresh delicious and creative menu items. Fresh baked bread. Freshly made coffee! I love the brunch specials on the weekends, but be warned it is really busy and getting a table can take some time. There is also seating outside but it was a bit cold when we were there. I love to sit next to the large glass windows and watch the bakery staff at work. The manager, Frank is so kind and hospitable. He takes extra time to ensure we are greeted and everything is going well. Our favorite brunch spot. We will be back soon :)
J W
Went in today and was pleasantly greeted. Displays were pretty and my simple little pastry was delicious. I really enjoyed the windows to the kitchen. I always enjoy being able to see bakers and chefs work. Gives a great personal touch. Next time I'm getting something chocolate!
Alex Tran (Schimiggy)
Four stars for service. Five stars for food! I love the food here. So delicious and fresh. I recently tried the chocolate buttermilk waffle and I need more! It was black forest style. So the waffle was topped with cherries and a seasoned whipped cream. The bacon was crispy and flavorful. I definitely recommend this location. It can be busy on weekends but the wait for a seat won't be long. People are usually in and out within minutes. Service could be more friendlier. They seemed annoyed with working there....
Steve McCardell
Our family was excited to catch a brunch here, as we love brunch and are surrounded by good brunch spots close to our home. Unfortunately, this was bland at best. My son and I felt like our scrambled eggs were made from powder. The potatoes had little to no taste. My other son's bacon was burned. His Belgian waffles, though, were pretty good.
We're used to waiting for a table to open up at a brunch spot; we weren't used to the idea that you had to wait for a table to open and hope you were the first one to claim it. There is no ticketing system or anything to give tables out as they become available.
I still gave the place 3 stars because it's cute and in a nice location; the staff were attentive when we needed something; and they have plenty of pastries that I hope taste just fine. We were just disappointed at the high price paid for food that was so mediocre we left half of it on the plate.
Michelle Long
The food is fantastic! Bialy egg sandwich was amazing, as was the morning bun and almond pinwheel. Definitely recommend.
Matthew Perkins
Good coffee, premade breakfast options only
Rachel May
Came here as a recommendation for breakfast and was surprised with how delicious the brioche ham sandwich was. However, the real showstopper was the amazing fresh baked bread. We paired with some beechers cheese and butter and had a perfect lunch.
Emily Hawks
Wow! Huge selection of delicious pastries, and very nice staff.
Taralynn Carter
Consistently good American-style baked goods, like muffins, scones, and bread. Yummy egg dishes and simple breakfasts. Counter-service keeps prices reasonable. Great selection of decaf teas. Good coffee. A very rewarding, low-fuss breakfast/brunch place.
Lisset
Must try their cinnamon rolls, the best. Light cream cheese not super sweet and their apricot / pecan cookies are tasty, too.
Kelli Brown
Service is uneven. I have felt like a nuisance more than once.
Ernie Sawyer
Helpful and friendly staff. Their selection of breads, coffee, tea and pastries is really good. Everything we have had has been excellent!
Kathy Plakovic
Macrina is the best! I have never been disappointed. From the from the hot breakfast options, to the pastries, to light lunch, and dessert, so delicious. Oh, I did I mention the coffee drinks? Fabulous all around.
Kait Smith
Macrina has absolutely delicious fresh baked goods as well as fabulous salads, sandwiches and drinks. The location in Belltown is larger than others, a perfect spot for decompressing after a difficult doctor’s appointment. Don’t miss out on the glorious morning muffins—the name says it all! They’re healthy, but absolutely delicious. And, at the holidays, it’s a fantastic place to order a pie or quiche or any number of items from their special menu so that you can spend time with your family instead of in the kitchen. Truly fantastic place!
Monica Kocel
Fantastic little bakery with wonderful treats and breakfast to enjoy. They have a really good vegetarian sandwich for breakfast. The blueberry scone and dill scone are to die for -- I mean you really couldn't ask for a better savory scone than their dill and cheddar one. Delicious.
The coffee is also good here. They have a nice but simple selection of drinks and lattes. I also always like that they have samples everyday of cookies, bread, or other bakery items. The staff is super friendly and helpful. This location also has wifi and clean restrooms which can be really important when you're trying to study or work for several hours.
Note to self: they also sell a cookbook which would make for a really great gift idea when paired with some of their goodies. I just wish they shipped throughout the US so I can send gifts for holidays.
Matt Halldorson
Love this bakery. The olive loaf is a favorite! Vegan scones taste like a sponge, so would not recommend that!
Jesslyn Farros
Delicious! The coffee was very good, the food was tasty, and the service was great! The only reason I'm giving them 4 stars is because they didn't cook my egg right... I asked for over-med and the yolk was fully cooked and they broke it... Other than that everything was delicious! Bread was perfect, scones were great, and the bacon was awesome. Definitely come again.
Crissie Alex
This place is a little secret spot that I adored. It had the MOST amazing breads I have tasted. Hands-down the best brunch! We went there multiple times during our stay in Seattle. When it is good, people return.. It's that simple!
This is definitely worth trying if you are looking for good food and service!
T P
Good for lunch. Vietnamese banh mi is ok but not authentic (understandable)
h b
I love Macrina! Such a cute neighborhood bakery. Their morning roll is to die for, and they have the best bagels I've had in Seattle. Personal favorite loaf is the seeded baguette, but you pretty much can't go wrong. Thank you Macrina Bakery!
Anne Abbott, NBCT
I loved the peach upside-down mini cake I bought on my first day in Seattle, and then they didn't have it again no matter how early I showed up. The options were fresh, though, and the counter staff didn't get too annoyed with all my questions. :) Their gf options were pretty good, too, and it looks like it would be a nice, open atmosphere to sit and enjoy your findings of you have time. :)
G A
Love this place during rainy Seattle days or lazy Sundays or when I need to get stuff done on my computer. It’s cozy in here and they got good selection of pastries and breads.
Rosa Zhang
Best focaccia I’ve ever had. Perfect amount of olive oil, salt, and herb.
G M
Incredible staff! Food is amazing, a little pricey for the pastries but you're in a trendy place. Brunch is top notch. Often a wait for brunch but its well worth it. Even worth a drive downtown and it's a place my family like to go when they come to town. Very pet friendly place as well. Take home some bread! Great fresh baked daily bread they sale here.
Amanda Armstrong
The blueberry scones, with their big, bursty berries, are amazing - there's a reason this bakery supplies other coffee shops with goodies in the city, for sure. Coffee is great. This is my new favorite weekend stop for a treat, even if it's a little further away! And if you're looking for fresh, artisan bread for a yummy meal at home, Macrina definitely has you covered.
Sarang Kunte
Am a fairly regular patron to this establishment. Lovely Bakery with almost every single item being awesome. So lucky to have this within walking distance from my home.
Federico Espriu
Macrina is a well established bakery, with good brunch options and a small but super menu. The brioche and french toast is very good. You can get bread and other bakery specialties to go or enjoy them with a cup of coffee in the nearly 10 small tables inside
Antony White
Drip coffee and a chocolate and peanut butter cake with waffer bottom. Delicious!
Lauren Wuscher
I love Macrina. They're one of my favorite (if not my favorite) bakeries in Seattle. Everything is delicious. I love their pastries and savory baked goods, and I love their atmosphere and the coffee (I recommend the cold brew).
They have a few gluten free options regularly (a jam biscuit, mixed berry muffin, cranberry orange scone - my fav, and typically a chocolate cupcake) and all are delicious.
My husband loves the ham and cheese brioche and gets it every time we come here. Never a bad trip to Macrina - though be prepared as I've rarely been there without a line of people who can't decide what they want.
You can also sit and eat in for pastries or the weekend brunch menu. It def gets packed with a wait during weekend brunch so go early.
Kurt Haag
Excellent place for breakfast or lunch. They make their own pastries, so a pastry and a cup of coffee is amazing for breakfast. Also they make their own bread so their sandwiches are fantastic. One of my favorites is the ham and egg sandwich on brioche.
John Hickey (jfhsea)
Always have and always will love Macrina! The cookies are incredible and all the baked goods are worth trying. The sandwiches are fresh and made on the awesome breads baked at Macrina daily. Also a good spot just to stop, get a cup of coffee and watch the world go by.
Laura Musikanski
My favorite brunch spot. Worth the wait. Get a big huge cup of coffee once you get your seat. Order the pastry basket. Or order whatever pastries that you’ve been salivating over while in line. If you go later in the day they have selections in the day old section that are just fine and a great price. It’s a great way to make coffee break at work a little bit of a celebration
Kimberly Steele
We have tried a few different bakeries since arriving in Seattle. None compare to Macrina! The Morning Roll...it should be called Good Morning Roll! If you start your day with it you will have a good morning! Delish! Service is over the top each visit! Sandwiches at lunch....yum!!! Pictures are Morning Roll and Cinnamon Roll.
Michelle Cali
We stopped by on our way home from church. I ordered the bacon and roasted potatoes to go. I devoured both when I got home. It was sooo good! Not sure about the rest of the food there, but the drool-worthy selection they had on display will definitely make me want to try more items on their menu.
Karan Dhamele
This is my wife's go-to bakery. She loves their chocolate orange coffeecake which is quite immediately sold out, so go early to grab one of these. Squash harvest bread is equally good.
Tiffany Kim
Try the GF biscuit!!!!! From the actual bakery only though. I’ve tried the ones from PCC and they are not fresh, crisp yet soft like they are from the actual bakery. They’re rubbery and more yellow. The employees here are very friendly. My mom is really picky with baked goods and she loves the pastries here. I haven’t tried them because GF but she says they’re delicious.
JJ Velvetackbar
Delightful staff, attentive, even at the end of their day. Both sandwiches we had were excellent and did not contain Soy!
Alex Horn
Wonderful establishment. Their bread is made from a 20+ year old yeast culture that is the same culture they used when they first opened. Though this place is known for its bakery, the brunch was spectacular. The service was exceptional. We especially enjoyed the complimentary pastry! 5 stars!
Joshua Polaczyk
Great food, egg brioche sandwich was very filling and tasty. Only have the waffles on the weekend, which I was disappointed about.
Alastair Knowles
Best pastries in Seattle - their scones are out of control. The coffee is also exceptional, and certainly some of the best around downtown Seattle (having worked and explored downtown for 5 years, I can say that and mean it). It does get VERY busy! They do manage their crowds quite well, but don't go there expecting to find seating readily available (especially during breakfast, brunch, and lunch times).
Ali A
Busy but very kind and have an array of sweets and treat and drink anyone would enjoy! Wonderful vibe indoor, a little tight in the entrance area if there are many people waiting but there is some additional seating outside one can enjoy on a warm day.
Seth T
Great food and lots of good pastry options. It's a bit pricey and they need a better way of service than their cafeteria style restaurant section. But it was worth checking out and I would go back for brunch again the French toast was amazing!
Dustin Cardenas
The bakery is amazing. Ive not had a baked item from Macrina I didn't enjoy.
This location is a bakery/cafe. The coffee is good enough to do espresso alone and the baristas are pretty good with cappuccino as well. The seating is rather limited, but wait times seem to be reasonable.
Ryan Comer
I can’t believe there are reviews with less than 5 stars. Great pastries, delicious bread, amazing lunch options, quiet ambiance and the coffee is on point.
Phillip Bagwell
Awesome coffee shop and bakery. My wife and I had breakfast here every morning we were visiting downtown Seattle recently. Great coffee and delicious pastries. We highly recommend it to anyone in the area.
Meera Patel
Wanted to cancel an order due to the snow storm and not feeling safe driving. The general manager was just so incredibly nice and genuinely cared for our safety. We will be back for sure!
Mariela Monzalvo
This place has the best pastry I've ever tried. Food was delicious (grilled cheese is to die for). Staff were really quick and nice.
Annie S
Whilst on holiday in Seattle this week I visited the Macrina Bakery for breakfast on four successive mornings because it was so delicious. My choice of oatmeal, blackcurrants, compote and brown sugar was the perfect way to start the day. The coffee and baguettes were equally good and enjoyed by my family. Good fuel for tackling the long, sometimes hilly walks we went on during our stay.
M Patrick
There is nothing better in belltown that this bakery. Their fresh options daily are the best. The cold brew is the most delightful part of any morning. I would be lost without this place! Try the scones!
Dana A
I go here every once and a while and overall the baked goods are good. The best sandwich it the grill cheese! Gave it a 4 stars and not a 5 because it is really expensive for the amount of food you get.
Elizabeth Bulgrin
Gets pretty popular here in the morning and around lunchtime on weekdays, and for brunch on weekends. But despite that the service is good and everyone is usually nice and helpful. They've given good bread and sweets suggestions. They're kind of on the more expensive side, which is why I took off one star. But everything is delicious and made fresh in house so you are paying for quality.
James Z
The French toast is a must try! Great staff and atmosphere.
Madalyn Barela
Very crowded and the drinks aren't that different from anything else you could get somewhere else. The breakfast sandwiches weren't that tastey at all, only the bagels themselves. They at least have nice, friendly, and speedy service, plus a beautiful facility.
Probably won't come back though.
Lexington Tredway
This place is so good. Wish I went here more. Their menu is always rotating which can be a good or bad thing. I’d do almost anything to get their tomato bisque soup right now with their grilled cheese. Their coffee is great too.
Devki RajGuru
Food is always outstanding. Everything. Eat EVERY THING. They've done away with hostess and table wait service since my last visit to this location. Easier to find a table, but counter ordering creates a lot of back an forth...meals brought out, coffee drinks must be picked up. A bit of a hassle, but your taste buds will thank you!!
Eliza Williams
One of my favorite spots in Seattle, not only has the food been 10/10 every time but the customer service is fantastic as well. The dill scone, rotating carne sandwich, and ham & brioche are my favorites!
Sitara M
Nice little bakery in belltown, where you can grab a quick bite on the go or dine-in. The only thing I have actually tried here, are the brownies. Picked up a bulk-order of brownies from here for a team event. I must say, they were reallllyyy good! By far, the most light and fluffiest brownies I've had. So good when warmed up and served with some vanilla ice cream.
I was disappointed when I went by multiple times after that, but the brownies were never in stock. Turns out that the brownies are only available through special order 48 hours ahead. Still, definitely worth it if you can plan ahead, but if you're looking for some awesome brownies at the last minute, tough luck buddy!
I hope they make them available at the store soon.
Andrew Blackham
Awesome bread- I've always purchased Macrina bread from the local grocery stores, but getting here is better. They have more variety and a 10 bread punch card (buy 10 loaves, get 1 free). Their rustic potato bread is always welcome at my house.
Landon LaPalm
Walked in for the first time today. Awesome customer service. I believe the guy who helped me was Luke. Gave me bread to try sonce it was my first time. The onion rye bread is awesome. My sandwich and cookie were top notch too! Will recommend to everyone! Thanks Luke!
Kyle Nolan
Great food, great atmosphere, outside seating, great service
Christopher Sharkey
I decided to go based off of how highly reviewed it was, and it didn't disappoint! I was just visiting Seattle, and I love to find little hole in the wall restaurants like this one. I got a sandwich and salad, which we're both amazing. Definitely worth checking out if you're from out of town.
Jessica Ness
Macrina Bakery is QUALITY from the product up. Service is always attentive, efficient, full of care. Specifically at this Belltown location, the staff just has a special cohesion and rhythm that really makes the place feel welcoming and cozy. Great food, Great staff, GREAT SPOT!
Sarah Alexander
We loved the Morning Roll. It's so good. The housemade vanilla sugar is only for those who like their coffee REALLY sweet!
Nemo for life
High priced and the cinnamon roll I bought for $5.00 was so dry. Yet it's always full of people buying there baked goods, I'm sorry it's just not for me
deejay scharton
The food was ok, the coffee was acceptable, but you dont hand me two coffees that site getting cold while i wait 15 min for food. Coffee gets cold. Food is ok, but if there's a line i would just walk on by, there is plenty of places with as good or better food.
Mike Houston
Really enjoy their lunch sandwiches. The staff is super friendly and walkable from work.
Janoo Fernandes
The egg bialy sandwich was tasty and the nutella brioche was interesting; had them to go, so I'll have to try dining in.
Update: had an amazing brunch there today, would highly recommend the brioche french toast while it's on the seasonal menu!
Stephen Nowroski
Albeit limited menu, Macrina Bakery has delicious food and amazing baked goods. Our family went for breakfast when this quaint bakery/restaurant opened for the day, everyone loved their sandwich and/or pastry.
Eva Luna
My new favorite bakery! I have a chicken egg allergy and they don't use egg in many of their pastries so I can eat them. The morning rolls are to die for♠️
Mrs Smithson
I come here almost every weekend. They’re breads are made fresh. They have incredible confections and breakfast. The pour overs are magnificent. Hats off to this place.
William Shelor
We have gone here at least monthly on Sunday after Church for two years... Their Sunday brunch is the best in the city! The brunch special and Market special are always fantastic! The staff is super friendly as well. Great restaurant, totally worth the wait!
Sandy Tang
3.5 actually.
BERRY MUFFIN
Was quite delicious. I love the fresh berries and that it didn't taste overly sweet. The only downside is the brown sugar coating. It made the muffin taste/feel dry. Or maaaybe it has to do with coming in 30 minutes before closing so it wasn't fresh? (Why does everything close so early in Seattle!?) Regardless, it was a nice snack before boarding my (majorly delayed) flight home.
Denise Rocha
Marvelous. The brunch is specially delicious, one of my favorites.
Andy Huska
Baked good are amazing (and I've tried many over many visits), oatmeal is excellent with all the trimmings, wish the coffee was a wee bit better...for me coffee rounds out the breakfast and there are so many excellent local roasters to choose from I had to take a star for that.
Marcus BK
The food looks great and tastes great. Worth the price. Carne quiche is creamy with cheese and tomatoes. Came with pickled veggies. Waffle covered with cherries.
Ezra Varley
Thank u Mo for the beautiful flaky apple turnover what a treat highly recommend
Adriana Sierra
The pastries here are so fresh and delicious. Very flavorful and melt-in-your mouth. Also, such friendly staff.
Caroline S
Delicious baked goods, good coffee, lovely atmosphere... that said, not the easiest place to do a daily coffee run. Pleeeease figure out a system where customers can tell someone their order one time! We had to say it 3 times to tell 3 different people by the time we got to the point of paying.
Ryan Unger
Stopped here for lunch after a business meeting. The roast beef sandwich was very good. The staff was friendly and the food came out in a reasonable time frame. I would come back.
Aarav Acharya
Very tasty cafe, every drink I’ve tried from their unique mochas to normal coffee has been very good! This store can get busy, but it is well worth the wait.
saurabh gagpalliwar
Delicious, highly recommended
Very friendly and helpful staff
Chris Mack
They serve Caffè Umbria and the staff are terrific. That's really all I need. If you like pastries and sweets by all means, come and enjoy them too. :D
Victoria Petra
Coffee is good, vibe is allright. No plain crossaints loses you a 🌟, Macrina.
On the morning of our visit, the place was busy, but a table opened up before we got our coffee. We got a nice window seat and experienced the morning in DT Seattle from our seats with a delicious latte in hand. I will visit again. Please bring in plain crossaints! Thanks.
Nora Casey
I love coming here and getting pastries, everything is really good, but a few things I love and always order. I'm not saying which is which. Because I'm entitled and selfish and I want them to be there whenever I decide to stroll in.
Patrick
Came to Seattle for a quick vacation and stumbled upon this place. Had the fried egg sandwich with bacon, it sounds simple but tasted amazing! Great place for breakfast!
Ed Santos
As usual great baker and service...
Catherine Cohen
That Skagit sourdough loaf.... Holy moly. Delicious and varying levels of caramelization in the crust and a crumb where you can really smell the whole grains. In love. Needs no butter. Just tear right into it.
Rach
I came in to buy a cookie righttt as they were closing today and the two women working there were really nice about it, great employees!
Evgeniya
Coffee is OK. Nothing special, not a deep taste. Just ok.
Ronster
If you go here one word for you...crowded. otherwise everyone in our group enjoyed their orders. I do not think some of the staff was unfriendly, but instead maybe trying to keep it together having to deal with the crowds...I feel your pain, you know who you are. :). I would go back.
Iheart Maple
I got the hazlenut orange pinwheel(could have been almond don't quote me) and it was delicious!
Place was crowded so I wish there was more of an area for you to stand waiting for your food without being in the way. Staff was friendly.
Jen H.
Friendly and helpful staff. Pretty good sourdough. Now a fan of Grassland butter (what they use)! Brunch on weekends from 10am-2pm.
Steve
The coffee was good but the money handling was weird, total was $8.80 handed the girl $9.80 ($1 bill x4 and $5x1) and the $5 bill fell out of her hand she she said we only gave her $4 ($1 x4) we mentioned the $5 had feel on the floor and, she said oops and picked it up. Then we asked her about the change and she said no, “you only gave me $8.80” .... rather than argue further we said whatever and left with our drinks. Ruined our experience at this place.
Edit: I’ll add she closed the till so we couldn’t argue that she was clearly holding $9.80
Shelley Steinhorst
The best place I know in Seattle for freshly made pastries. Yummy. It's also nice to sit here and enjoy the meal. It's pretty popular so bring some time and patience.
Fernando Herrera
Everything that they make is just oh so delicious.
John Overstreet
If you like bread, this is the place to go. I've been there twice in the last two days and their sandwiches and breads are delicious. Everyone was very nice also
Lizabeth Meany
This is one of those hidden gems of Seattle, every single pastry here has so much to offer, the coffee is pristine in quality and in taste. I have had nothing but positive experiences with the staff every time I visit.
Chaz Lampert
Brunch was amazing! French Toast was the best I eva had *in my Drake voice* go here and thank me later. :)
ralph padilla
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️Thank you so much! It was delicious! Perfect! I will be back👽 …
Janice P
Our wedding cake was from the bakery and it was amazing! For what we paid for the cake was the best thing ever! We had so many people comment on how great the cake was!
Clarity Smith
Not only does this place make delicious food but the atmosphere is extremely clean and the owner is very diligent in ensuring customers are cared for. This is a very well run establishment.
GEVORG TOVMASYAN
Prices of Parisian bakery with hygiene of Parisian train station
Roz L
Delicious pastries and bread plus a good selection of quick lunch foods.
Matthew Toplikar
Fast and friendly service. Tasty pastries and breakfast sandwiches. Excellent coffee.
Bow DeBey
Kinda meh.
They were out of basics like honey for coffee and couldn't substitute anything.
The coffee and bagel was good.
Pauline Fusco
Rating as bakery and for customer service. Extremely good molasses cookies and bread.
Four and a half for latte. A hell of a lot better than Starbucks, but not fantastic.
Isabelle Francesca Avellaneda
Great place to get some pastries and bread on the go. Their very berry tart is my favorite!
Komal Sanjeev
Exceptionally delicious brunch!
Katie Morgan
This is a great brunch spot in Seattle with inventive brunch selections and great pastries to choose from. For those that stop by in the morning on the way to the office to get a box of treats, you must try the dine-in menu.
AJ Weaver
Rocket muffin, morning roll, morning Glory roll, squash loaf, all the breads. Can't go wrong, lemon sour cherry coffee cake = the best!
Julia
I've been here twice with out of town friends and have no idea why people keep recommending it. Macrina had average prastries and a typical brunch menu.
Scott L
Whoa, 600+ reviews already for this business! I guess mine will have to be short then.
Cute cafe, freshly baked pastries, awesome location! What's not to like?
Bri Milot
Cute bakery with delicious bread and brunch options. I would give a 5 star if they had better vegan/vegetarian options.
My Humble Soliloquy
Always consistent & good.😑 …
Hannah Woods
I come here just about every weekend. Its particularly nice if you get here before 8 am, because it does get quite crowded in the morning. The staff is friendly, the food is good, and the prices are reasonable.
aprameya rao

Laura Beth Wallace

Nancy Musgrove
Awesome bakery. Good coffee. Limited GF options. Haven't tried the food yet but looks good.
Markella
Nice atmosphere & service. Great Pastries!! Weak & expensive coffee :( Bakery is a 4 star, coffee is a disappointing 3 star.
Rick Schupp
Enjoyed the coffee- americano - great flavor. Pastries are so fresh and delicious. A nice start to my day.
Alberta Bates
Minus 1 star because Cash Only. Luckily there is a Bank of America around the corner. Low prices and everything was fresh and smelled amazing. Will definitely be back.
Ashton Acord
Brunch was delicious and the service was outstanding!
Christopher Chin
Awesome selection of baked goods for om pastries to bread. They also serve a great cup of coffee.
Andy Boyer
Uh, yup. This place is terrible. It is always packed with people, has far too many delicious food options to decide, gets you hooked on tasty drinks, and plays good music.
Bruce Fritts
Lemon tart was fantastic and the iced Americano was smooth. The copper leaf hand painted mural on the wall was pretty sweet too.
JoAnn Welch
Great bakery. I had a salad, grilled cheese, and a blueberry cheesecake along with my coffee and everything was delicious and fresh.
Scott Miller
Lunch: The baked goods are mouth-watering enough. But the real treat here are the lunches, with a daily crostini special, homemade soups and great imaginative salads.
Nikola Andrejevic

Great food and coffee but the internet is so consistently slow and sometimes doesn't even work. I like to do work in while I'm sitting here and it is pretty much impossible with their internet.

Cute corner coffee shop. 3 * because the espresso wasn't Seattle amazing and they ran out of both egg sandwiches and soy milk on a Monday morning.
Heather Skeehan
Excellent brunch - especially the market and seasonal specials. Excellent bread. It gets very busy on weekends by 9.

I'm a long-standing fan of the Roly-Poly. Better that a cinnamon roll because of the croissant-like pastry dough used in its preparation.
