Reviews of Macrina Bakery
Got myself an Orange hazelnut pinwheel pastry as recommended by one of the staff, and it was just delicious with the right amount of sweetness and orange flavour. Paired it with their regular latte and enjoyed my time there.
Worth every penny!
This Bakery is a hidden gem, located in a nice neighborhood. The have freshed baked scones, bagels, pastries and bread. The young lady behind the counter greeted us and provided excellent service. I topped off my visited by getting a great cup of hot coffee to go. This will be my "Go to Place" next time I'm in Seattle.
Of all the Macrina locations, this one is my favorite. Love the baked goods, prepared meals, the neighborhood feel and seating area, and the open air seating when the weather is nice.
The breads, pastries, and recently sourdough bagels, are fantastic. I usually get their morning roll, a jam biscuit, and/or a ham and cheese brioche. If you are lucky and early enough, definitely try their brioche egg sandwich. 👌
There are often lines to get in these days with social distancing going on, but it’s good to know the staff is trying to keep folks safe. I only wish they would update their checkout to offer a contactless payment option. Pretty please? 🙏
Minnesotans enjoyed the ambiance and comfort. The sandwiches were tasty and satisfying. Definitely would return to sample the pastries and bread!
Macrina is the best. We're there at least thrice weekly and the staff is so great. The sandwiches, pastries, cookies and coffee are all fantastic.
Great well known bakery and cafe located in the residential Queen Anne neighborhood. There is plenty of brunch items and baked goods to choose from. It was particularly busy when we went, and the staff at the cashier seemed flustered with a tad bit of a attitude. Seating is also limited so definitely plan to come early or later in the day if you are planning to enjoy a meal at the table.
You should buy the chicken pot pie and take it home unheated. When you get home, put it in a preheated 350 oven for 25 minutes and then you will have a reason for a 5-star review.
Amazing place for a quick coffee, big breakfast, brunch and maybe a lunch as well. Everything is delicious! Very pleasant vibe. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The service could be a little more organized on the gap between the order and the cashier but it’s not a big deal.
Glad to be back and enjoy the weekend brunch from macrina bakery. Usually love their French toast seasonal selections. Portion size is very big, I simply wished the cream would not be that sweet since there is already syrup. Love the sausages.
Friendly staff. High quality products. Lots of options. Not overpriced. Queen Anne is a great location. All things bread, what’s not to like.
This is still one of our Seattle bakery faves for brunch on a weekend. We’ve been going for 15 years and it’s still always seems busy and can be difficult to score a table. But, the French Toast is worth waiting for and we have never tried something in the pastry case that wasn’t delicious.
From Minnesota, loved the atmosphere and the coziness. The sandwiches were delicious and filling. Would definitely stop by again to try the pastries and bread!
Love the place , the food . Service a little slow if you order coffee . Like the last time we waited for over 10 mins for a cappuccino . They make good food and believe in quality , so if you are in a hurry then ordering coffee may be a bad idea . Otherwise even their bread is beautifully baked . So aromatic and delicious
Very good spot where we got Brunch. I got french toast and my wife got the brunch special which was a prosciutto and gruyere omelette with an arugula salad. Honestly we could have split a meal it was so much food!!
Friendly staff, great prices, fantastic selection of pastries, good coffee! Definitely pop in for a visit.
Oh my geez, the GF options were divine. My son had 3 different pastries - very happy teen.
They have everything you want in a bakery and top quality! There's a nice space to enjoy your meal over conversation or on a laptop. There is a tap with sparkeling water! Also - If you are searching for a loaf of bread for the week, this is the place.
My husband got a hazelnut pastry/danish thing. He got the last one and said it was likely the best pastry he’d ever eaten. He’s been asking if there’s a way to have them shipped to the east coast. He’s serious about his sweets and he said it was insanely good.
Ordered a coconut cake for my moms birthday here and it was delicious. Light, not too much frosting, and filled with fresh raspberries. Highly recommend them for custom cakes. Super high quality.
Super busy place, but it has good pastries and coffee.
Visited several times. Loved the croissants, sandwiches and specially the Mini Ginger Molasses Cookies.
Everything was delicious! I wish I had one of their dill scones right now!
Kind workers. Beautiful space. Yummy baked goods. What more can you ask for.
Absolutely fantastic bakery, I think we went here every day during our Seattle trip. Standouts were the chocolate cornetto, jam biscuits, and coffee!
First time visiting! Staff was very friendly, espresso perfect, and the orange hazelnut pinwheel was possibly the best thing I’ve ever had! 😍 …
One of my favorite bakeries and the top 3 in Seattle to me!
I love their pastries but I’m not the biggest fan of their bread (personal preference, most people probably like their bread - I like a hard crust ).
However, their chocolate croissants and raspberry lemon coffee cake are to die for.
Customer service is great, too.
Apparently they can't slice most of the bread for you. No other complaints.
I've been trying to find good rye bread in Seattle for MONTHS, and I've finally found it. Thank you, Macrina!
An outstanding array of breads and other baked goods, sandwiches, salads and excellent coffee. Service was fast and friendly. Plenty of seating inside and out.
the pastries are amazing. the coffee is not great, and the drink menu is pretty limited.
Love having Macrina in our neighbourhood!
The Cate breakfast sandwich is particularly delish. Guaranteed to satisfy any late Saturday morning hunger you might be experiencing.
Coffee, ambiance and breads are great, however the pastries are just so-so. A couple times I got pastries that seem to be from the day before, my husband tried some savory pieces - he never seriously liked anything.
My friend took me here while I was visiting them for Halloween, and absolutely loved it. The atmosphere was comfortable and friendly and the baristas were extremely helpful. My drip was a delight, and the Apple cinnamon tear apart cake was delicious!
Great place for breakfast and for delicious baked goods! 😃 …
Friendly staff and amazing food. Their bread is why I still keep coming back. Be sure to try the Skagit Sourdough: it's not like any other sourdough bread you've had, and it'll surprise you how tasty it is.
I love, love, love this Macrina! The staff are so friendly, the baked goods are so delish and the floral decor is always on point. I left my backpack here once by mistake, called and they had it waiting for me when I went back to pick it up. If you want a delicious bite to eat, a coffee and a bit more joy in your day, come here!
Macrina is excellent for bread and pastry like morning rolls, buttermilk biscuits and muffins. I am not a fan of their brunch or breakfast dishes but the place is overall really good. I am glad we have one of their stores in Queen Anne.
A favorite of mine.
The recent (or not so recent) additions of bagels and the sausage sandwich make this place even better.
They also do a great job of keeping customers safe during COVID times.
very very tasty, good portion sizes, they have really good ideas for their weekend breakfasts. Staff was nice!
Also really appreciated that they had examples of all the order options out and cooked so you could actually see what you’re ordering, I’m super indecisive so this really helped.
Ahhh the pastries are so delicious 🤤 There’s a lot of options and will make just want to buy everything! Need to comeback to try their sandwiches and drinks! …
I used love this Barkery.
It becouse covinent location for me
And They have good Bread.
But They don't have GLUTEN FREE Bread and stick rolls for my toddler.
I started gluten free diet for my health.
It's sad!!
Are you. Kidding. Me? Seasonal salted caramel brownie. Umm.. any questions? 🤤🤤🤤 …
Visiting from Austin and went for a very late morning breakfast, on the advice of my daughter that lives in Seattle and son who had already gone twice in one week. We had Brioche French Toast and also the First Square. The main dishes and all sides were stellar: fresh, expertly made, and nice touches (champagne raspberries, rather than regular).
The place has a great neighborhood feel + nice design elements inside -- all around a great experience.
Great pastries and good brunch menu..
Really nice, high quality baking. Breads are beautiful. 3 gluten free pastry offerings including a biscuit, scone, and muffin. Caffe Umbria coffee. Seattle-style noisy but happy place. Kids, moms, strollers, dogs outside, business types. Good people behind the counter.
Cute location, nice seating area (not too crowded). The brunch items are a bit overpriced, but the pastries and bread are very tasty and well priced. Nice neighborhood walk destination.
If you love sugar/pastries/cake/cinnamon pull aparts etc and a good cup of drip coffee this is the spot. The food is Very tasty. Brioche egg sandwich is awesome! Staff is very friendly and helpful and up here on queen anne seeing someone with an actual smile on their face is great.
Great place for lunch, breakfast, brunch, or just coffee. They have a lot of great options and delicious pastries. The blueberry scone is my absolute favorite. Definitely must try if you are in the area.
Most folks know how great this bakery is, but thought I'd pile on.
The Morning Glory Muffin here is SO good, as well as everything else here. Macrina is a quaint little coffee shop and bakery tucked away in the neighborhood of Queen Anne. Their baked goods are fortunately distributed to coffee shops and grocery stores all over Seattle. It's a must visit on a slow weekend morning!
The baked goods are great. No question about that. Everything they do is fantastic, and they make one of the best breads around - a half baguette/half ciabatta.
The layout of the bakery is really awkward, even after a recent rearrangement. People always gather at the display case just inside the door. If you get there after a certain hour, you're either pressed uncomfortably against the door or can't get in.
There's always a big line, in part because the counter staff isn't all that attentive. They definitely don't focus on helping move people along from the display case. I've experienced even worse service at the Belltown location - things always take forever there. Coffee pulls take a long time, too, so there's always a certain amount of milling about that goes on as people wait for their orders.
If they could figure out a layout that works and focus on moving people along, I would go here 4-5 times more frequently than I do now, easily.
The next table over, two child brothers were asking their dad if they could watch The Matrix 2. It was favorite their movie.
Great atmosphere. Also the food is killer and probably the best in the biz. Try the fried egg sandwich. It will end you.
I love bakeries, and Macrina is near the top of my list. Highlights include their brioche, quiches, pretzel and whole wheat rolls, and good coffee. The restaurant is pretty busy on weekends, so get their early if you want pastries.
Ah. Best gathering place and gluten free goodies!
Good food on the high end ..pricey
I'm not sure about the food, but it all looked great. The Mexican mocha I had was probably 500 calories for 8oz, but might be the most delicious coffee I've ever had. It was like a hot chocolate mixed with a latte with some dark chocolate melted in. The barista was very good though a bit Portlandia for my taste. Amazing coffee though in a less pretentious setting.
I had a guleten free orange a scone and it was delicious. Everyone in my group enjoyed what they had however, I was disappointed to see that they had six sample breakfasts fully made on display, I feel like it was extremely wasteful
This is where I go to make poor life choices(at least where my diet is concerned). Everything is amazing. They use Mexican chocolate in their mocha's so if you have any cinnamon issues be aware. Otherwise I almost always get the apple pull-apart.
Macrina is my favorite bakery, and they offer a wide variety of breads and lunch options. If you are looking for a quick sit down lunch counter, you will not be disappointed with Macrina. Just remember to grab a loaf of bread for home. My favorite is their giuseppe baguette, which has a dense chewy crust that is great as a simple sandwich or with just butter and jam.
Delicious...apple turnover
Delicious...ham and cheese brioche
I think this is my new favorite bakery, the sausage breakfast sandwich was so flavorful, the hot chocolate was perfect and the cinnamon roll cup was amazing!
Every time I visit Seattle this is what I crave. My sister showed me this adorable bakery not far from her house. I recommend the ham and cheese pastry!! Please come to Vegas so I can have this every week!
Love to visit them over the weekend, good coffee and great choice of pastries
Good breads, and other baked goods, but head become more of a cafe/restaurant than bakery these days. Go there for breakfast, or brunch. You'll like it.
This is my favorite even my parents like this place we go there every time we need to get some breakfast or just something to eat. Everything there is good especially their avocado toast.
Delicious pastries and brunch is awesome.
What a gem of a coffee place. Coffee is perfect, many tea choices as well, lots of pastry, savory and sweet, and nice seating in and outside.
One of the best bakeries and cafes in Seattle. Fantastic breads and pastries. Only downside is that you need to wait in line behind a bunch of often-indecisive people before getting to the counter.
Like their Belltown cafe, they have a weekly rotating brunch menu on weekends that is pretty delicious.
That being said, it's not a full serve restaurant and so finding a table can be vicious. I'd recommend going to the Belltown cafe.
I will forever dream of this place until I move to Seattle one day. Freakin amazing!! The pastries are perfect, food is on point, coffee done right. What else is there to ask. Do yourself a favor, eat at Macrina
Delicious pastries, strong coffee, nice decor, a few outside seats on sidewalk, clean bathrooms
Great place to enjoy a pastry and coffee and people-watch.
Great pastries, before Covid would frequently go there for coffee and a breakfast sandwich. Prices are a little high IMHO so 4 not 5 stars
Location is on to of queen Anne. Selections are slimmer than other locations. Food is made fresh and beverages are delicious. I love their chocolate Cornetto (croissant).
Would have liked to try the quiche I had ordered but they brought me the other one instead. And to call it a quiche is a stretch because it was very soupy and gooey. Not a good first impression.
Food a little on the high$ side...pastrys are always consistently good...although they don't really add anything new. Small in size que can be to the door. Can be really noisy.
Small local bakery making hand made goodies. Their sandwiches are worth stopping by. Parking can be a bit tight.
BEST, ABSOLUTELY THE BEST scones in the world!!!!! Lol. No, really all pastries are fantastic as well as the breakfast dishes. Fun staff too!
Baked goods are great (+5), but pricey (-1)
Espresso is completely awful ( -1)
Don't get coffee here.
Great latte, chocolate cake to die for. Nice convenient location for walks with my dog, which they usually have a water bowl for him to drink from.
Hands down the best cake in the city. Plus, all of their littler baked goods are fantastic. Don't even get me started about the potato rolls.
Always wonderful pastries, great bread and good coffee. Sometimes the lines get really long, but the staff are usually very helpful.
Pretty good place to go for pastries and snacks with decent coffee! I'd take friends here for breakfast and have a good time in the seating space they offer.
First time here yet my wives a huge fan. Man the food was just so good, kind of unbelievably good. Will have to go back just to see if this place can live up to my first experience.
This is my FAVORITE coffee shop/bakery in Seattle. The food is delicious and the cook book is great too. It's also a good place for gluten-free!
Great bakery with a multitude of delicious pastries, breads, quiches and more.
Great bread, fancy pastries. Decent drinks as well
Great food. Tasty coffee. Good atmosphere. More expensive than I prefer, but it is understandable given the location.
The service and food here are always great. I definitely like hitting the bakery up on a leisurely weekend day.
I had a couple of tasty breakfast sandwiches. The store smelled amazing and they had a huge selection of baked goods.
Always fantastic. Whenever I am close I have to drop by. Their bread to die for and there nut rolls are heaven on earth!
Delicious and welcoming.
Try the Morning Roll, you will not be disappointed.
Excellent scones, pastries, sandwiches, bread, cakes, all handmade, fresh and delicious!
They have the best pastries. Overall, a little pricey but enjoyable experience and great product
Great local bakery with fresh pastries and an excellent weekend brunch menu. Try the Bialey!
Great bakery with limited meals. Good coffee. Indoor and outdoor seating but it is a small shop.
Just the best pastries in the area. And their hot chocolate had a touch of cinnamon in it just the way I like it.
The food here is ALWAYS delicious! I LOVE this bakery. Absolutely a must
Croissants are not as flaky as some of the other Seattle bakeries
Nice salad and sandwich options. Bread tasted great, you can tell it's baked fresh
Delicious! The dill and parmesan scone with cream cheese is where it's at. Will visit again when I'm back in town!
Great breakfast food and pastries. The staff was super chill and the place felt welcoming.
A wonderful little bakery on top of the hill. Does amazing breakfasts and lunches with everything from savoury dishes to sweet treats.
Good coffee and great service, but too overpriced.
This place is dangerous. Dangerously delicious. Everything from their sandwiches to their cakes are to die for.
Expensive and the coffee is just ok nothing special baked good are much better than coffee but overall there are better options in seattle
Yummy baked goods and coffee. Good service. Bustling atmosphere in the mornings.
Tasty brunch, could be crowded over the weekend. They have a great coffee.
Amazing place. It would be great if you start refilling the coffee as a courtesy. Will come back.
Good food & great coffee.
Seems same as 2 years ago - pre-covid.
Gets crowded, so get their early. Love the smell of fresh baked goods. Tasty stuff.
Breakfast sandwich, bread and coffee were all delightful.
Delicious food and friendly service! Just what we needed after traveling for 17+ hours from the east coast.
Really good food, I go here sometimes when I visit my cousins. Food is great and service is just as good.
Great coffee and baked goods. Also they have a good brunch on the weekends.
A classic play on the neighborhood bakery and coffee shop that always smells amazing and makes it way to hard to decide what to order. One of each?
Seating is a challenge at this popular bakery. But the people are lovely and the food is better!
Such a variety and so delicious. Hard to decide what to get. Apricot oat scone was perfect.
Lovely environment and staff. Food is amazing. They use lots of sugar in that food.
They burnt our pastry and service was slow. Have heard good things so we will try again.
Fast service. Tasty products. Full breakfast menu. Reasonable pricing.
The Mexican Mocha is A+! Naturally all the pastries are wonderful.
The pastries are fresh and tasty, the prices are moderate and the service is fast.
Brilliant. The pastries are fantastic.
Good for and coffee. The desserts are amazing. Popular neighborhood spot.
Good coffee, and popular breakfast. Their sour ficelle baguette is very good.
Their weekend brunch specials are amazing - strongly recommend!
Good coffee. Cozy ambience, though often very busy. Variety of bakery goods.
Pastries are always wonderful. Cafe is calm and peaceful even when busy.
Great food and coffee! This is a great hang out for locals and tourists.
Everything good 👍
Yummy, clean,fast,nice …
Always can count on this place for good food but can be expensive at times when it comes to the hot food.
Great coffee, friendly service
Tasty!!!! You just need to stop listening to that voice in your head! And just LOVE this!
Pastries and bread options are quite good. Reasonable prices for the area.
Excellent food, no rushing ypu out, even on a busy Sunday.
Went in for the first time, I had an iced vanilla latte and it was fantastic! Will go back!
Oh Macrina, I don't know how, but you make the best bread in Seattle!
They have good selection of pastries and those pastries were good!
Addicted to their morning roll 🥰😍 …
Great bakery
Great breakfast selection and a friendly staff!
Great bakery, and genuinely fantastic rotating brunch
Not great scones but other lovely items.
Great if you're there at the right time. Can get really busy at times.
very tasty
Great Seattle bakery. The Morning Roll is delicious.
Loved the pastry and food, but the coffee is brutal. Go for tea.
Warm, inviting atmosphere with a fresh look. Great pastries!
Great bakery with weekend brunch. Great coffee.
Really delicious! Also i'm pleased with my latte.
