Reviews of Larsen's Bakery
Mayu
I went there many times. I really wanted to like more all the goods they have but unfortunately I think it’s just average. Staff is very friendly. The cookie in picture my daughter couldn’t bit on it, it was very hard. The cardamom bun was good though, little dry. We ordered a little chocolate birthday cake and I didn’t like it at all, no taste.
During the holidays, they had fruit cake and it was delicious. The marzipan cake is simple and good too.

We stopped in the afternoon since we were in the area and loved this bakery. The employee who assisted us was so knowledgeable and friendly. We took forever to decide but finally settled on a few pastries, a slice of cake, and a tart of some kind. All delicious and definitely well priced. Highly recommend!

What a gem..I love the options here. The bakery is big and I love their pastries. We wanted to buy a cake last minute for a birthday and the staff was so nice to bring us an extra options from the back of the store. The cake was super delicious and so inexpensive... strongly recommend. I love their coffee too.
Tim Kvamme
Very cute bakery, the tart though was very soggy with was a let down and didn't have a lot of flavor, but the rest of the treats looked and smelled amazing. Also very clean and charming atmosphere so definitely would recommend coming.

Obviously it doesn't make much sense to get a croissant at a Danish bakery but I did anyway. It wasn't the worst croissant in Seattle, which means it already met my expectation. I then took the advice from the bakery staff and got a piece of kringle, a traditional Danish pastry made with buttery dough and lots of layers in a big circle, then cut into pieces to be enjoyed. It's better than I thought: sweet, for sure, but subtly so, more like a good almond croissant type of sweet.
Larsen's Bakery is big, the shop and kitchen together occupy a large corner building. It offers a wide array of American and Danish pastries, including family size ones in boxes. Coffee and bread as well. Nothing looks particularly delicate here, not even the cakes. It's a hearty place, and probably a happy place.
Phil
Sweet or savory. You’ll find deliciousness all around here.
The bakery specializes in Scandinavian baked goods. They do custom cakes (order ahead), fresh breads, cookies, and pastries.
My favorite savory item is the Ham and Cheese croissant.
Small indoor and some outdoor seating.
Service is always friendly and efficient.

Wow wow wow!!!! I drive by Larsen’s bakery on a daily basis and people rave about it. I remember during the holidays seeing lines out the door. Not sure what took me so long to swing in there and get some baked goods. The people are so nice and helpful. I had a work meeting and wanted to get some morning treats for everyone. I got a few Danish twists which were so moist and had tons of flavor. The cinnamon one was so delicious. Also got the almond and apple flavors. Last minute I decided to get the almond Danish Kringle. It was right out of the oven. Win win! I think they are known for this. Being a baker myself I found their store to be so inviting and the cakes were amazing looking. I see a lady in the window every morning decorating the cakes and she does an amazing job! I highly recommend swinging by and loading up. I wanted to eat all their donuts especially the plain ol’ sugar donut which is my fav so when I’m in the mood for that I’ll be going back!
Prateek Sharma
Their chocolate croissant was absolutely delicious. The right combination and proportion of flaky, sweet, crispy and filling. Planned to eat half the croissant in one serving but couldn't stop.
Lesley Rogers Krokower
My daughter wanted a Titanic themed cake for her birthday. I brought a toy ship into Larsen’s and basically just asked them to bury it in a blue sheet cake. Instead, they created a masterpiece! We were all blown away by the attention to detail. Plus, it was delicious!
Skylar Kaylen
The staff greeted us with a warm welcome and was very patient. They had such a great selection for decent prices too! I ordered an iced white mocha which was perfect and a mushroom croissant. I definitely have to come back to try more.
Anna Gonitzke
It is a good quality bakery with very friendly staff. Everything always looks amazing, but unfortunately there is a disconnect when it comes to flavor. For example, the bittersweet chocolate croissant looks beautifully constructed, but biting into it revealed a very thin and empty dough with no hint of chocolate to be found. Moreover, this Sunday morning they were out of both espresso and coffee which was a bit bizarre.
philip scott
Outstanding local bakery thats been a staple of Ballard for years. From great coffee, pastries and cakes. To more traditional Danish / Scandinavian baked goods.
cristina gonzales
Go for the pastries, not the coffee. I really love all their pastries and their pumpernickel amongst the others, but their coffee is just not good. It's in the preparation that it all goes wrong...burned shots, watery shots, never the correct amount of espresso shots (again this morning) and just plain ol leaving your coffee sitting for several minutes while they help others. It's as if many of the crew don't know how to work front of house. I've inquired about this and as to why it had been 10+ minutes and I still didn't have my coffee while everyone behind me was able to leave with their complete orders. In the few times I've had to ask about my coffee order, I'm always reacted to in the same manner by the same rude girl. So no more coffee from here for me, but I'll still stop in for a croissant.
Anna Chow
If you want to get a great deal on day old baked goods...this is the place. 50% off on some day old goods! Ask for Matt...he's super cool and bakes all the cakes...himself! They served us 20 minutes before close with smiles on their faces. A 5-star experience with 4-star food!
Matthew Powe
A Ballard gem, staying true to classic treats from Denmark and greater Scandinavia while also producing goods for modern tastes. If you have a hankering for a decadent pastry or just a loaf of bread, stop by and check it out. My family has been coming here to get Kringle and Smorkage for at least 2 decades; a Christmas tradition at this point.
Aisling Kenny
I needed a traditional Swedish princess cake for my boyfriend's birthday - they were the only bakery in the state it seemed that could make one, and they knocked it out of the park. Spectacular decoration (swimming squids from Splatoon amde out of fondant!), excellent service, and the cake tasted divine! Cannot recommend them enough.
Jenny Danielson
Bought our wedding cake at Larsen's in 1994 and we keep coming back!! Awesome pastries, cookies, cakes and ALL things sugar!! The savory pastries are THE BEST!!🍞🥐🥖🫓🧅🧄🍄🌰🥜🧀🍓🍒🍎🍑🥯🎂🥧🍪🧈🍩🍮 …
Matthew Hatle
I love the baked goods and it reminds me of home. I am from a Scandinavian region of the midwest and it always brings me back to my childhood.
But, the customer service is lacking and extremely frustrating. The lines are confusing. The service is borerline rude. I've only had positive customer experiences when there isn't a crowd. I know retail work isn't glamorous, but I shouldn't be shouted at and have condescending remarks made to me. So I'll pass for now.
Leeland Artra
Extremely good pastries and helpful folks that answered all my questions about how stuff was made and the ingredients. Good prices too. Definitely worth the visit.
Elly T
I went in person. Hardly anything was labeled. Ordering was a bit of a song and jig because I didn't know what to call anything.
I couldn't find information about ingredients. I had some food allergies.
Everything tasted great.
Brenda Cregeen
My favorite bakery. I stop by there whenever I'm in the area. They have great selection of desserts and make yummy sesame rolls.
Norman Oro
I buy Larsen's Bakery smørkage (which tastes amazing) here at the source or at QFC. I think the bakery itself is kind of conducive to what the Danes and Norwegians call hygge, and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Donna Maria Thorpe
I love it! A large variety of baked goods! From bread to cake pops! What I love most is the access I have to Scandinavian baked goods! It makes a great gift for my Norwegian in-laws! Uff da!
Jasmine Love
A Christmas classic that I go to every year for Kringle and Christmas morning dashes. If I were closer by I would frequent this Bakery as everything they offer is high quality

Amazing buche de Noel (Yule log cake)
We special ordered a Yule log cake for our holiday celebration from Larsen’s, and it was the most festive one we’ve ever had. I also picked up a deliciously dense slice of fruit cake while there.
Shelby Marker
Larsen's Bakery was the perfect choice for our wedding cake and cupcakes! SO delicious, timely delivery, perfect execution over all. We definitely recommend Larsen's and thank them for helping making our special day that much sweeter! :)
Taralynn Carter
A huge thank you to Alexa for pulling one of the best shots of espresso I've found in Seattle. Perfectly balanced flavor, lovely, rich crema...just perfect. I came here expecting excellent pastry (and wasn't disappointed-- wow, that kringle!), but the espresso turned out to be just as good as the pastry. I'm an espresso junkie and have sampled more shots in Seattle than I can count, so I say this with ample perspective: Larsen's espresso is delicious!
Clairita Guilbault
Got a call back from? She was very kind and understanding. I live in AZ but I wanted 3 different kinds of Kringle. Shipping was expensive but product was same as I expected. Glad they're still available to everyone.
M
The kringle is delicious, tastes like an almond croissant if you like those. But customer service could be better, some staff is gossipy and has a standoffish attitude, one girl saw me standing there ready to order and just walked away even though she talked to the previous customer for a really long time. The layout is also very confusing in terms of where the line is and where to order since there are two registers and they don't really tell you anything or offer to help who is next, etc.
Susan N.
I this bakery is a wee bit of a treasure in Seattle. There's always a dozen things to buy, but being a family of one, I need to limit my haul to 3 items, danish, croissant, and a savory ... Tho it's hard to pass on their cookies... And for sure a Kringle for Christmas morning.
Joyful
Been Here 3x over a few months time. First visit was really good- service and the Raspberry Danish was delicious. I mean so good, I couldn't stop thinking about it. The other items I tried on that visit weren't good at all. Definitely not worth the $$ spent.
Next visit went downhill. Service was not friendly or helpful. It was actually kind of snide. They were out of the Raspberry Danish-what I specifically came in to get, so I tried the only Danish flavor they had-Cherry. While the pastry was the same, the filling lacked flavor, so ruined the taste.
Today, my 3rd visit was quite similar to the last visit as far as service for sure. Fortunately they did have the Raspberry Danish, but for some reason, it just didn't wow me like the first time. Maybe it's because I thought I'd try the Apricot this time as well and tasted that first. It didn't taste as good as the Raspberry either. And the place was a mess-dirty, overflowing trash and recycle bins, out of water in the water pitcher. I even saw the guy who helped me go over to the trash and stuff more into the already overflowing bins. Wow! I don't know, seems like this place has seen better days. Try it if you really want a pastry, but I can't say the other items are that good.
Danny Epstein
I love their many almond flavored pastries. Everything's sweet of course, but delicious. Friendly service. A neighborhood institution.
Lauren Vaterlaus
Delicious baked goods! I brought a Kringle to a recent gift exchange and everyone loved it. I highly recommend this bakery.
M. C. (StarkRavingMad)
Hands down the best quality and selection of sweet and savory croissants in Seattle.
Thier pies, cakes, and doughnuts are fabulous as well.
Emma Wiens
I enjoy the pastries I've had at Larsen's, I really do. But you guys. It's not that astounding. Their coffee is middling at best. Really I'm conflicted because I do enjoy the strudel and the kringle a lot. My best friend says that their cookies are "the best" they've "ever had". They are addicted at this point and I did it to them.
But I cannot get behind the hype train. Because a lot of what they offer is just sort of okay, especially in comparison to other bakeries nearby. But that could be just me because most bakeries are French, right? And this is a Danish Bakery. So is it really fair to compare?
I believe that people think Larson's is better than it actually is because it's culturally significant in Ballard. I believe, apologies for the singling out, the Ballard Scandinavians do this a lot! They make little businesses that are good become God-like! Like I appreciate you guys, but sometimes, just because something is Scandinavian doesn't mean it's without flaws. I'm sorry but it must be said!
Because I do believe it's good! I like it! And i like most things! I am pretty liberal with 5 stars but to give into the hype culture, I'm sorry, it just feels wrong!
Venkatraman Prabhu
Their raspberry and chocolate croissants are the best in seattle! Also they open really early - one of the few bakeries that are open at 7 am.
Brittney Johns
I cannot even put into words how beautiful this cake is. It came out so much better than I had even imagined. Every single part of my experience at this bakery was so good. Everyone was so Helpful and friendly and just fantastic all around. Thank you SO much for this cake that literally made me cry lol
Ben Flynn
Oh man, this is such a great bakery. The selection of savory baked goods is one of the best I've ever seen. Tried many of the pastries and was seriously impressed. Had breakfast 🥐 two days in a row it was so good and such variety. Cookies a da bomb too …
Haley O'Connell
Classic bakery with too many tempting treats! I don't think you can make a bad choice here.
Thomas Huckabay
Seattle staple. Hands down a maple bar will cure anything. If you have a cold, sad you didn't get you promotion, failed your mid term, best friend slept with you mom; a maple bar and many danish selections are awaiting you.
Don't skip on the maple bar. Oh yeah don't get the coffee
Jenelle Kemp
Love this place! More pastry than you could reasonably eat and fast service. Try the Smorkage or Kringle. Weird names but SO delicious. The long pastry rolls, cinnamon and cherry and other flavors, are also really good. The pastry is made with margarine instead of butter, but I can't vouch for it's veganity. The lefse is ok, but only three pieces for $7 is steep. However the day old section in the corner by the chill case is a great value. I used day-old cinnamon twists to make an absolutely awesome bread pudding.
Skip the coffee and lattes - they don't have much staff and are often so busy it holds up the entire line while they make it. Check out the excellent fresh fish shop around the corner while you're here.
Jacqueline J
It's not what it once was. As someone who grew up in Seattle Larsen's was a staple. It made most of my birthday cakes as a child, and I give that Larsen's 5 Stars.
Unfortunately it's gone down hill, and it seems like they are now very careless. They've made mistakes (big mistakes like the wrong cake flavor) on my last two orders. I've let them know about the mistakes, and they did apologize, but that's it. These are expensive cakes, but the price doesn't seem to insure quality. The last cake I ordered also tasted, for lack of a better word cheep. The crumb was dry, and while nicely decorated the filling didn't have much flavor. After two strike outs I'm done. Best of luck to you if you order from them!
Antonino Schepis
We frequently buy their pastries and bread. They are always delicious. We also order cakes for birthdays and anniversaries. The cakes are always beautiful and flavorful. I strongly recommend this bakery.
Judy V
We stopped here several times during our weeklong vacation in Seattle and every baked item was delicious! Great spot to pick up a yummy loaf of bread, cookies, pastries or a stunning cake. Larsen's will be on our must visit list next time we're in town!
Peter Epstein
Large assortment of tasty almond flavored pastries. I do wish they weren’t quite so sweet. Almond flavor can be overpowering. Definitely not subtle.
NoFux Gibbons
It was amazing. Friendly staff and great baked goods for sure. I'd definitely recommend seeing it for yourself if you're in Seattle.
Kim Kasch
An authentic Danish bakery in Ballard. Great selection.
Erin Smith
Larsen's Bakery is still one of my favorite bakeries to visit in Seattle! Their cakes, macarons, cookies, and cinnamon rolls are all delicious. I was absolutely blown away by their gingerbread cookies they sold during the holidays and now find myself craving them every year because they're so much better than store-bought. Location is also great because it's next to a butcher shop and fresh fish shop that offer excellent selections for really great meals (which can be followed up with dessert from Larsen's)!
Paul Hudzik
One of the best bakeries I have ever visited. Awesome pastries, breads, and espresso.
Don Gamble
Excellent. I buy coffee all the time. When I buy large pastries or several smaller ones, I hide somewhere to eat them all by myself. I wont let anyone see me...Oh! How I enjoy them. Cake, pie, donuts, cookies, you name it - I want it all to myself!
Brad
Larsen's is a great local bakery. The kringle is the best in the area. Everything I have gotten here from the donuts and macarons to the croissants have been excellent. They also have a nice selection of breads made in house, however these can sell out on the weekend.
Randy Robinson
It’s just okay. All pastries that I have had here are on the dry side. Not sure if that’s just how they are supposed to be 🤷🏻♂️ …
Annika Cox
Everything here is delicious! The macarons and almond horns are incredible!
Bruce Seymour
I wish that I didn't live 2000 miles away.
Probably a good thing that I live 2000 miles away. I didn't even look at the receipt but I'm sure it was worth every penny.
Dan Hoyt (Higgs-Boson)
Absolutely love this bakery! Every time I'm in this area I always make it a point to swing in here. I've never had anything that I didn't like from this place, even their bagels are really good! The staff is always incredibly friendly and helpful, and they are still taking covid precautions seriously, which is something I very much appreciate.
Sheridan Lake
The selection is gorgeous! I was really thrilled to find this place for my sugar craving. The staff interaction was less than desirable though. I don't know if I caught them on an off day. No eye contact, they act like you aren't there until you get to the cash register. And acted like I was bothering them with two questions but once it came time to pay they suddenly got really sweet when disclosing I'm about to be asked for a tip. yeah no
Dumidu Wijayasekara
Great pastries. Helpful and friendly staff. Almost always busy
J (ChaoChow)
Pleasure to go. A cup of coffee with the pastry is a perfect breakfast for a Sunday treat. Their dessert is also very outstanding, love the fruit tart they have. They seems to change their menu once a while, so make sure you try everything you can. (They use to have the cheddar cheese croissant which is amazing)
Paul Izotov
Amazing bakery. Every time we go to Seattle. It's a must place to stop by.
Bruna Silva de Jesus
Cream cheese bread (I don't know if this is the real name of it), M&Ms cookes and mini cheesy croissant are very delicious 😋 …
Leah Renae Hatfield
Picked up my birthday cake today and it's so beautiful I can hardly bear to cut it! As always, I received prompt & friendly service. Love Larsons!
Steve Heinz
Five stars for the traditional danishes alone. The donuts and cakes are a bit more average, but who cares? Get a spandau or a twist!
Ariella Lilien
The kringles are delicious, as well as the rolls. I'm not the biggest fan of the cookies, but that may just be down to personal taste. It's definitely pricey, so it's a good idea to opt for something simple (eg a roll or a donut), and those tend to be the things I prefer anyway. Also, if you're short like I am, it can be hard to talk to the staff over the cases holding the baked goods, but they're patient so it's usually not much of an issue
Ann Boyd
Delicious German chocolate cake! Ordered 2 birthday cakes. Both delicious. Great customer service response to my requests for changes.
Eileen Price
Loved it, always love it!!! We went there today as an outing since it is pretty far from where we live. They always have a great selection, even at 6:00 pm. Love all the Nordic tastes and all the bakery favorites. Sweet, savory, they've got you covered! Bread, cupcakes, coffee, croissants... Yes, yes, yes, and yes! Highly recommended!!!
Valentyn Bond
It is very fresh and delicious 😋. Recommended, nice place and people. …
Daniel Pérez
It's been around since 1974 for a reason.
Phil Raymond
Great bakery getting a little pricey been going for years just less
Jackson Bean
Lots of options but nothing gluten free or dairy free besides the meringues. Solid baked goods with reasonable prices for Ballard.
Ayse R.
Absolutely delicious!!! These guys were so accommodating and were willing to make us a funfetti cake for our wedding (it was super hard to find a bakery willing to make one) it was so beautiful and delicious, we can’t wait to come back for more! Jess was awesome from start to finish.
Hailey Oppelt
My family has been coming here for decades, it’s one of the best bakeries in town. Their marzipan cookies/bars/etc are phenomenal.
Tawni Alley
All their items are high quality, all their staff are friendly and helpful. Minus one star for using too much sugar in the cakes and tarts-- they're exceedingly sweet even by American standards. I would definitely order a custom cake here!
Abi M
If you've been to Europe, you'll know that bakeries over there are on another level. Larsen's atmosphere and selection reminds me of the bakeries I visited while I was in Germany. There is a huge variety of different breads, cookies, and cakes by the slice. I have been looking for a bakery that has German Brötchen ever since I came back to the states, and I saw that Larsen's had bread rolls that looked very similar. Unfortunately, they weren't the same thing, the crust was very good but the inside wasn't similar to what I have had in Germany. I will definitely be returning because the bread I tried was good regardless. I did also try a cake slice and it was okay; very moist, however a tad too sweet!
Scott Loners
We picked up some Brioche buns, barbecued some cheese hamburgers, toasted the buns and they were great! Larsen's has hamberger bun also.
Tara Fonteyn
Great bakery and I went crazy and bought 3 loaves of different breads and an amazing poppy seed confection.
Alyssa Jensen
Oh my goodness, I so look forward to the days when my errands take me by Larsen's so I can stop in and pick up some treats!
Everything I have tried has been delicious, but the apple fritters and the cookies are my favorites at the moment. And savory croissants? Yummm
I would highly recommend stopping by! Make sure to bring a mask as they are in compliance with the safety guidelines to ensure everyone stays healthy. They have also added a barrier between staff and customers, and they are limiting occupancy.
Asher Blue
Larsen's is an institution for good reason! Go there for treats, birthday cakes, coffee and the like. You will love it! We still go there for cake orders even after moving to Edmonds by the Sea!
Alexander Goughenour
Rotating daily coffee specials. Tasty eats. Generally easy to find seating if you want to relax for a bit. Will go back.
Rosalie V. Smothers
We were looking for a bakery while we were visiting in the area and ran across this gem! We wanted some fresh baked goods to bring back to the hotel with us. Well we bought a bunch of fresh baked LARGE cookies and they wer delicious! If you are ever in the area, look them up! No regrets!
Hannah Wiggins
Lovely Scandinavian bakery that I have been going to for years. Great service and knowledge of the pastries, and very friendly staff. The fresh almond paste in the pastries never disappoint, and I will continue to come for more years!
Hue
Appears a little more "commercial" when you walk in but the pastries were tasty! We had the feta and spinach croissant and pecan sticky roll. They sell day old boxes of pastries (great for office treats in a pinch) and their own flour mix too.
Jane Koh
Larsen's bakery was one of the best vendors my now husband and I had the joy of working with in wedding planning. Jess and her baker were so attentive to our ideas and made the experience really fun, providing us with huge cake slices & flower and shell samples. It was hard to choose because they had so many great flavors and fillings but we eventually went with for each tier: pink champagne cake with strawberry buttercream, almond poppy seed cake with Bavarian cream, and German chocolate cake with caramel buttercream. Larsen's also went out of their way and ordered molds for oyster shells to which they added pretty iridescent coloring and white sugar pearls. Wanting to be surprised on the overall exterior, we handed over the reins of that to the baker and based on our ideas, she designed and brought to life the most beautiful sea-themed wedding cake we've ever seen. It sat as a fun and lovely décor piece throughout the wedding, and our guests devoured it when it came time.
Laurel Henderson
I’ve been coming to Larsen’s when I visit Seattle since I was a kid. My go to has always been the smorkage. Delicious round pan of flaky, buttery rolls with marzipan. These are to die for. I also got an apricot and marzipan long rectangular pastry and some sesame rolls that made great sandwiches. Everything at Larsen’s is amazing. Get it!
Marie Amundson
I was fortunate to find this bakery during my recent visit to Seattle. I purchased several different items for visits and they were all excellent. Service was quick and pleasant staff. Selection was huge! If I lived there I would be a frequent customer.
Ashley Kernes
Had a raspberry and cream cheese croissant and some black tea with a touch of sweetener. Such a delicious treat and a true feast for your eyes and nose. Could smell the butter from down the street. Can't wait to come back.
Priscilla Lindquist
It's been 3 years since I was there. Bought all my favorites and some. Will be stopping by before heading south to home. Yummy goodies
Chel Moreland
The best bakery by far. Located in Ballard and I live in Pierce county, so worth the 1 hour drive!!!! My favorites are the "like cloud" Eclairs, Persian donut and, the best macaroons EVER! I've had other items from here and everything is delicious. I think that extra added ingredient to all pastries is passion.
Amir Rahmati
Tasty pastries, great service, and friendly staff. Can’t really ask for more.
Lisa M Peppan
Haven't been there in decades, and they are as good as they ever were. The wow factor for me is that their donuts are great the next day.
Brigid Ciganik
This place is killing it with consistency and has been for years. Selection is really good (although personally I would be glad to see more savory items). Today's visit was the first time I saw King's cake for Mardi Gras here; not surprisingly, their version was excellent! Happy to support a long-standing local business.
Pocket hole
We purchased a Cherry pie I swear the thing must have weighed 5 pounds. Was desert for family for a week! Super tasty. Lots of variety. I would definitely return.
Christina Canini
I love this bakery. They have delicious Danish pastries and daily latte specials. Some of my favorites are the spandauer (loved the raspberry almond one), ti birke (flaky pastry with almond paste inside and poppy seeds on top), cardamom rolls, bittersweet chocolate croissant, and the various twists. Still have to try the kringle! They've also got bagels, savory rolls and croissants, doughnuts, cookies, and various cakes. Highly recommend this bakery!
GI Schmo
Terrific place for baked goods in the neighborhood! The chocolate croissant was flakey and all over chocolatey. The cheese and fruit danish was also flakey and delish in every bite. A bit underwhelmed with both cookies that I tried, but will just try something else next time as their selection is large.
Lisa Gaspar (Lisa GG)
I've been a customer since the day I was born! Most of my birthday cakes came from here too. Now they are much larger, and the wait can be a bit. They do their best to serve you when it is your turn. The selections are all delicious; there's not a bad choice in the house!
Megan Lickliter-Mundon
Wonderful breads, IMO though the pastries are all a tad greasy. Mini pies and cakes are lovely. They offer discounts on day old products and have good coffee if the right person is making it.
Truth
Cute bakery with loads of options: MANY baked goods - typical and Scandinavian, as well as coffee and tea. About a $3-4 for most things. Lots of street parking in all directions, but frequently full.
Check the day-olds for half off!
Nelson Chi
A must stop-by whenever I visited Seattle and Bellevue areas on a day-trip visit from Portland Or. Alway bring home at least 3 Kringles. The best Kringles in the PNW bar-none!
Stephen Grose
Lovely staff. I enjoy walking here for a latte and some delicious pastries. My partner and I also get fancy desserts here occasionally that are delicious as well.

I have been going to Larsen's Bakery for decades. Weather it be a special occasion, holiday or when I am just in the neighborhood, Larsen's is exceptional. It is by far the best bakery I have gone to. There is a line, but it moves quickly. Their pastries are spectacular and breads rival any of the bakeries that specialize in breads.
Shelbi Andersen
Very good authentic danish pastries. Brought my Danish grandmother there and she was so excited. The workers were really nice too and patient as my grandma tried to reach them the danish names to all the pasties haha.
Akshay Mutha
Cream cheese twist is our favorite. Go early in the morning to be sure you get it. It usually sells out pretty fast.
Douglas King
Larsen's is the Best! A Scandinavian bakery With pastries, cakes, breads and cookies. While great anytime the winter holiday season is over the top with tons of traditional treats
Maranda Paikin
Absolutely fantastic! Amazing, buttery croissants. And, such a selection! Try to go in with an idea of what you would like because it seems they can get busy quick.
v kg
Always low on Crossoints!! But good taste!
Shawndelle J
I'm conflicted about my review. I liked my pastries each time I've been. The last time I went my croissant was inedible. There were several pieces of something very hard and sharp broken throughout. I even swallowed one. The service was bonkers slow. And the second to last time we went in we found a horribly moldy bag of "day olds" fallen on the floor. But the people who work there are kind (though they could be more attentive) and the environment is chill. It's a lovely neighborhood spot.
Dan Allison
Having tried dozens of different maple bars this is far and away favorite. The smorkage and Kringle are excellent. This place is one of the few old pieces of Ballard that remind me of my childhood. Don't miss!
Steve Prestek
Been going to Larson's for a long time. Because, well, it's been there for a long long time. They remodeled a few years ago and took out the funk. But I liked the funk. The baked goods are just as good as they always were with lots of variety. Coffee drinks available, seating to consume your goodies over the best coffee on the planet. They also sell the dairy products that they use to make the baked goods. My sweetie and I stopped in on Sundays to have a cup of coffee and a gooey.
Brian Donhauser
Nice place to grab treats and go if you're in the area. Lots of choices. The following are what I tried:
* crueller: light, airy, delicious.
* black and white cookie: too dense, too crumbly, too dry, missing the essential lemon flavor.
* turkey havarti croissant: buttery and delicious.
* cheese croissant: good.
* pepperoni roll: hit the spot.
* rhubarb strudel: under-baked, soggy on bottom.
Jeff Kemp
Don't miss out on the cinnamon twist, Kringle or any number of other things on the menu. We go out of our way to grab a coffee and an outstanding breakfast on a regular basis. Don't miss the day old section for some screaming deals on some amazing pastry!
Stephanie Ege
Yummy pastries!! Very European like in my taste a bit pricey but occasionally I deserve a treat ❤️
Maia Hammy
Things are getting pricey here but they still have some of the best selection around for baked goods including breads, cookies, pastries, and more. We come for the croissants and cookies but will be back for the holiday items coming soon. Decent hot drinks such as coffee and chai as well, plus a few savory selections. We really liked the turkey and havarti croissant, yum.
Gabriel Pratt
Truly stunning Danish bakery. Local institution for a reason. If you're looking for a new bakery go here. If you're a tourist looking to get a taste of old Ballard go here.
Everything is good. The Kringle is a must try. The steals of the bakery though are the day olds in the back. Taste just as good at half the price. Come in early to get your pick.
Laurie Solheim
OMG so delicious! We got a rhubarb dessert and an apple dessert and shared them!
Marianna Leaver
Colorful variety of interesting savories. Repeat bakery items can be stale tasting. Breads and simple baked goods the best! Very sugary items were not my favorite. Any Scandinavian delicacies were tasty!
Jeff Schrader
Located in the Loyal Heights neighborhood, this Danish bakery has served the community for decades. They offer the best in Danish pastries and fresh breads and cookies, all made in-house. The store recently expanded their service area up front to allow for the increased foot traffic. Especially popular are the Christmas pastries such as stollen. These must be ordered in advance due to high demand. A good local bakery worthy of support.
Bobbi Miller
Great pastries, cakes and breads. Always awesome recommendations from the staff. Strong coronavirus protocols in place, limit to the number of people who can be inside at any given time. Most people respectful of any line, only had one middle-aged dude ignore the line and march in, in spite of people calling him out. A Ballard mainstay.
Adrienne L
Very huge selection of bread, pastries and cake!
Dennis Chivers
I would normally give Larson's a solid 4 stars, but today was just slightly disappointing. The eclair had clearly been frozen and tasted, frankly, a little stale. We tend to not make it to Ballard until later in the day, and it was a holiday with (I assume) no fresh morning bake and that might help to explain my diminishing enthusiasm for what has historically been a special family treat.
The service is always friendly and beyond patient with our slow decision making, but again, we were there end of day with no customer rush. Rumor has it that during the morning craziness, they can be testy about indecision.
Camber Hollywood
I need six stars!!! I've been to a *LOT* of great bakeries, I'll drive hours out of my way to get to some of my favorites around the world. Nothing compares to Larsen's! Dozens and dozens of amazing traditional Danish cookies, pastries, cakes, pies, and bread to make any meal memorable. Try something you've never had before, you'll love it!
Desiree
My in laws come here at least twice a week. The community of people are very friendly and the atmosphere is clean and cozy. The breads are great. They have lots to choose from. If you are in town, I definitely recommend this place for a nice treat
Kate Hodgins
Love is not a strong enough word for how my family and I feel about Larson's bakery. We swing by to pick up bread and a treat almost every week. Their coconut macaroons are delicious!
Sean Fear
It got remodeled and looks like a generic bakery/coffee shop and the staff is now much younger. I imagine they keep the geriatric Scandinavians locked in the back slaving away on the pastry lines. It is totally worth it! Everything is so delicious!
Angela Bertrand
Classic. Everything from cookies and cakes to breads and rolls with pastries and Scandinavian specialty food. You take a number and then pick out all of the treats you want. Everything is delicious and it has great chai lattes. It's busy in the mornings and not a great place to sit and enjoy your treats, but there are a few tables.
Natalie Lockwood
Delicious savory and sweet pastries and breads, fresh baked rolls and loaves, a few Danish grocery incidentals in their refrigerator as well as some staples of milk and cheese, specialty cakes to order, and espresso and coffee to order - Larsen's is a Ballard gem! And the staff are always so courteous and helpful.
Michael Dare
Spectacular classic pastries available nowhere else. Go ahead, tell me where you get your kringles.
amanda burchett
Wonderful! Tried over a dozen items; savory filled breads, savory croissants, mini croissants, butter croissants, sweet croissants, macaron cookies, and a few donuts. EVERYTHING was executed with precision! Very rare you find a place with such a vast variety and EVERYTHING is perfectly executed! Great job Larsen Bros! I am in love! Fantastic prices, 24 items for $44!
Savana St. Aubin
This bakery is delicious! TONS of amazing options and a relaxing spot to have a sweet bite and coffee. I would recommend their chocolate cake - moist, rich, dense (but not too heavy), and super chocolatey!
P Lenee Hicks
I've been frequenting Larsen's since I was a little girl. So wonderful! Their Kringle is a love thing. Cheddar croissants, Danish cookies and pies. Groom's cake. . . They are a Ballard institution
Lee Haugen
Very friendly staff. Felt like we were welcomed and appreciated. And, possibly the best croissants we have eaten, even in Paris. In good Scandinavian manner, generous with the butter!
Margo Kislinska
I'm used to European pastry and after moving here, I found out that American pastry isn't quite what I like. So I was really happy to find Larsen's! It's great not only for amazing various desserts (I still haven't tasted all of them!), but also for the bread they make! Every time I come here I feel a little closer to home :)
Jaimie McCausland
Classic Danish bakery. I get the Christmas Kringle there every year, but their other pastries and breads are excellent. Great place to bring out out-of-towners if they want a true Ballard bakery experience.
Kyle Morean
Yes! Love their goodies. The twice baked almond croissant with almond paste in the middle is mind blowing. Lovely staff and great place to do some work, reading and interviewing new tutors!
Mediocre Grumps
I come here once every few months or so because they do have awesome pastries! But when I came in today and got a raspberry tart, all of my raspberries were moldy and dried out... A little bit of a let down. Pistachio crossiant is to die for though! And staff was very friendly.
(Also, to the lady who just gave this place a 1 star because of your dog... You're legally not allowed to bring pets into stores (Especially a place where they sell food....) unless they are a service animal.)
John Day
Phenomenal experience at Larson's bakery I'm the shuttle driver for a senior community and I took some residents there one of them who is hard of sight accidentally overpaid and tipped $40 extra. they have someone there named Thomas who is a good and honest individual because he came and seat my resident out of the crowd and let him know what had happened and returned the money to his card. Faith in humanity truly restored
Jade Bradley
This place is okay. While they had a decent selection of pastries their customer service was lacking and the shop felt sticky and unkept. It took a while for 1 of the 3 girls to even acknowledge me in the shop and when I asked for help it seemed like I was bothering them. In fact an older gentleman had received his coffee and complained about it being luke warm rather than hot all in the time I just stood there waiting. My biggest problem though is that I thought I bought and paid for 11 cupcakes as a treat for my son and his friends but when I got to his class I discovered they had only given me 8. Total disappointment! I sought this place out cause of the reviews but I got a totally different experience. Probably won't return.
Karyn Porter
Love this place. Been here since 1974! My first wedding cake was from here 40 yrs ago! They make a lean mean breve! Bravo Larsen's!
Zoe T Sullivan
I've been going to Larsens my entire life. They have changed and even expanded over the years but their quality has never gone down. Worth a visit anytime of day. They have you covered from breakfast to dinner :)
*Also if you see that Google maps shows them as "very busy" realize they have a number system to help you and that even at their busiest they can get through a line like the wind!
Edward Aites
Larsen's is a Ballard / Crown Hill treasure. For decades it's been baking fantastic pastries and breads, and it's so much fun to go there to sample something you've not tried before. It's a popular spot but they are pretty efficient and friendly at getting the line moving and making sure you get your treat...
Taylor Childers
Great neighborhood pastry shop. Yummy croissants based pastry and donuts.
Gary Alberto Zapata
They have a wide variety of delicious pastries, cakes, cupcakes and bread. The service is friendly and efficient. I counted six different savory croissants to choose from and a whole lot more sweet versions.
Oriana Basile
This bakery had great reviews so I went to try it out. It was pretty good but I didn't think it was anything special. The "line" to order was disorganized and the employee ended up helping the people who came in after me first. If I was in the neighborhood I would go again but not worth going out of the way for.
Amber Glover
My husband loooves this place. Loves it. Talks about it constantly and really enjoys everything he gets here. I find the things I've gotten from here *really* sweet (and I love sweet) and kind of bland overall, but 50% of our household is head-over-heels for this place so take that as you will.
john brandsberg
We pick-up pastries here every time we visit Seattle. So many great pastry choices. Their breads are some of the best.
Phil Menchaca
A Seattle institution. Have not had everything on the menu but all that I have had has been great. Of course you must get thier kringle around Christmas time it is delicious and world renowned.
Not too much to day besides no parking. I believe they have a Danish related bakery up the road, not sure.
Richard Dormer
Old school. The overall quality of their pastries has increased.
Sarah McFarland
Consistently amazing. This is the place I tell people about when they are new to Seattle and missing home. These pastries temporarily heal the heartsick.
Shannon Keechi
Delicious baked goods. Made fresh daily (nothing better than the smell that bakery omits early before morning sun rises) PRICES are a little" pricey on some items. and some others are almost shockingly cheap. Staff can be cold almost... even rude or a little judgmental SEEMINGLY at times. MAKES IT A LITTLE UNCOMFORTABLE for (hopefully) the short period of time in there.(SOMETIMES THEY DO HAVE A RATHER LONG WAIT TIME )>FOR THEY GET BUSY AS HELL
Sami Everett
Very popular because the breads and pasteries are the very best. Clean, indoor seating, Wheelchair accessible, pricing very reasonable. We had lunch croissants that practialy melted in our mouths! Also took home a raspberry pastry that was gone the next day. We will definately go back again, and again. 😊 …
Jared Stivers
Very helpful and friendly employees. Very large selection of pastries and bread. Good coffee and espresso. When ordering to dine there, you aren't asked if you are getting things to go so you have to ask for non-disposable plates, cups or utinsils.
Wally Pettengill
Larsen's has a large selection of loaves, pastries, and savory treats. The staff is always warm and welcoming and the bakery is almost always busy. Something about their sweet options leaves an odd taste in my mouth, but the classic loaves and savory croissants keep me coming back.
dietbuddha
Often out of sourdough and for good reason, it's very good. I'm also a huge fan of the fresh made hallah, the blueberry pies, and the lemon poppy muffin. Oh yeah, and the scones. Did I mention they also do espresso drinks and Italian sodas.
Also tons of pastries, muffins, cookies, cakes and pies. Don't go there if you aren't willing to get more pastries, cookies and bread than you intended.
Wendy Lamb
I love walking to Larsen's with the kids on weekends. Such a great neighborhood destination. I love all the newer savory pastries and breads! Also a great place to grab a desserts to bring to your friend's house.
Tiffany Laing
This is my # 1 bakery go to. Everything fresh and yummy. I have been going here for over 30 years and will drive 30 miles for it. Love the petit fours, the slices of white raspberry cake and of course the chocolate cake is amazing.
Zee C
Pastries, pastries and more pastries. And coffee. This place is always busy especially in the mornings before the week day and pretty much anytime on the weekend. Locals love this place for their fresh bread and treats for the family. They have tables & chairs so you can nosh on your delicious treat before heading home for dinner! ;-)
Brian Strasbaugh
Gourmet specialty bakery with a great selection and high quality. A new Christmas tradition for my family will be a visit to Larson's before the Holidays!
Rachel Morton
Great fresh baked and day old pastries and bread. Staff is always very kind and they are taking social distancing seriously, highly recommend. Coffee is not bad either!
Tina Bunes
Everything is always good & delicious!
Sir Anthony
I knew this bakery's store from a friend of mine. When I tasted their bread and cokkies, only one word "Marvelous!". Especially for Julekaka bread. Their cookies are good as well. I had one of julekaka loaf with a cup of latte capuchino when I visited rhis bakery's store. You should try and go for it. I recommend it for good breads.
Jordan McQueen
Been going here for 20 years. Great place. Very glad you're requiring masks during COVID-19. To the 1-star below me: there's no such thing as a "health condition that prevents you from wearing masks." Stop lying.
Larry Palmer
I drive a hour each way just to get one of thier cakes. I have been going there over 40 years. The cakes are amazing.
Melissa VonAschen-Cook
Wonderful bakery. Thankful to the nice man who recommended this place to friends staying with us!
Celia Troth
Wow, hadn't been there for awhile...what a lovely place to stay and eat your yummies or to jet in and out. They have completely redone the place from the old Larsen's - lots more space and nicely laid out. Staff are friendly, fun, and helpful. Definitely a destination!
Anjelika Enkhee
Lobsang made the best vanilla dirty chai ever to exist in the universe. HALLELUJAH! Grandmas not a coffee drinker but hey she said she’d drink that drink! So that’s saying a lot.
Paulie B606
Such a great assortment of pastries, breads, snacks, and cakes. So so very delicious products.
Andrew Lewis
Lots of pastries! Prepacked boxes make the decisions easier. Nothing in my box was extra fantastic, but most hit the spot. The cookie box was tasty.
Fantastic americano!
Daniel Hoyt
Absolutely love this bakery!! Their products are amazing! Customer service is fantastic, could not ask for a better place to be!!
Christine Savolainen
❤️❤️ Requires patrons to wear masks! ❤️❤️They care about their customers and community! We purchased our wedding cake from them 5 years ago and continue to enjoy their baked goods. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
James Granlund
On the Saturday morning before Easter the place was busy! Take a number, it's worth the wait. Pastries, cakes, breads, pies and treats of all descriptions were flying out the door! Top quality neighborhood place, definitely worth a visit.
Frederico B
A great neighborhood bakery and place to get daily essentials (breads) or treats for the office. They have a wonderful assortment of bakeries at reasonable prices. Friendly staff. It can get pretty busy after school and weekends, so grab a ticket.
Amber Cooke
I really do love Larsen's. It's been a family tradition to eat almond twists on Christmas morning, their delicious rolls with dinner and their festive cookies after dinner my whole life. I appreciate their recent attempts to update and revamp the bakery, but waiting in line every year for 2+ hours is just a hassle. I really think they would benefit from online pre-ordering and online payment options, if only to get more people through the door more quickly and efficiently. Many people simply aren't willing anymore to wait so long, even in the name of tradition.☹️
Leeanna Kligis
Marcus went above and beyond my expectations! I work with TotalMed Staffing Agency for Traveling Nurses and ordered cupcakes for a nurse. It was difficult to find a bakery that could accommodate my request, but Marcus did! The bakery has wonderful customer service. I will definitely be ordering from Larsen's again soon!
Ann Jacky
I've purchased cakes and Norwegian cookies from Larsen's since 1992. The first purchase was a carrot cake for my sons 4th birthday. Best. Carrot. Cake. Ever. Fast forward the the above sons wedding and I knew I would get a Norwegian wedding cake here. There was a little bump in the road when it wasn't ready on time. My husband was dreading another Edmonds to Ballard run so close to the dinner and they came to the rescue and delivered it to my home in the afternoon! Can you believe that? The pastry was both beautiful and delicious. So many new converts to Norwegian desserts. Everyone raved about how great it was. I'd give you 10 stars if I could. Thank you!
Ani Vasion
Always busy (because it's good) but fast & friendly, good prices too. Plan on parking on the street right outside to make your visit a bit quicker. Honestly easier than getting in and out of the parking lot, to the south of 80th Street.
toby rogers
A very good bakery. The crossaint style pasteries are great. Really flakey, best to eat with a plate underneath as the flakes are too good to lose. A very large variety of pasteries. Easy to find parking in neighborhood. Easy to find location. Well worth the visit.
Uffe Hellum
Authentic danish bakery, on par with great bakeries in Denmark, very low prices. This has nothing whatsoever to do with American "danish pastry" with cheese and a long shelf life... This is fresh-only, high quality craftsmanship, managed by Mr Larsen, a man educated as a baker in Denmark.
A couple of years ago, they brought in a team of danish construction workers, who updated the interior as a modern danish bakery store.
Danielle D.
Very friendly staff and delicious pastries! Marzipan cake is perfect!
C. Stein
Great local bakery. Their day old sale items are wonderfully priced bargains and are great to freeze for future use.
Alexander Eklund
Giving this 4 stars seems at the same time gratuitous and cheap. I am incredibly grateful to be able to get bread and baked goods that resemble what I would get back in Denmark. On the other hand, I wish just a few more things were available and that it was just a slightly higher quality.
Eve Hu
So many delicious Danish, Swedish, French pastries to choose from. 50% off day old selection is great. Daily coffee special = $2.79 for double shot latte + syrup of the day
Keith Wright
Very friendly staff, plus some great baked goods.
Gregory Lawson
Lovely mom & pop neighborhood staple and worth swinging by for their Kringle and other delicious pastries with butter and cinnamon. Almost always a line, so don't forget to grab a number when you come through the door.
Kurt Anderson
OMG. I love this place. You come in for one item and you leave with a full shopping bag. Great cardamom rolls with or without rasins.
The kringle is addictive 😉. Great special European deserts. Nice selection of sandwich breads. I make a regular pilgrimage to this place. Lot quicker then trucking to Oslow. Ballard has lost much of its Norwigen character. Long may they be open. You need to stop and check out this local gem out. Takk.
Stev K.
This is my go-to location to get a birthday cake. The chocolate mousse was so moist and delicious!
Andrew Bowerman
Great bakery in North Seattle. Thumbs up to the ticketing system! I like how I can get a good look at every option before I buy. The owner is still in the kitchen! Super cool.
shruti bhagwat
I liked their service. I went the first time and they were introducing all their food items, ingredients so politely. Also, I loved their items. Especially the Danish.
Kym Oakland
Just so good I get my lefsa and other danish pastries here...it reminds me of my grandma... Love me some Larson's❤️❤️🐞 …
Matt F.
Larsen's provides a wide array of quality choices from usual suspects like bread, donuts, and cookies to some new favorites like savory croissants, pastry twists, and kringle.
Mia McCurdy
One of the last remaining pieces of Ballard as a Scandinavian neighborhood. I love their cardamom braid, and always bring it home to my mormor. It's quaint and hasn't been redecorated or anything to look bougie or fashionable--it's a solid bakery with quick service even when you have to wait in line.
Justin T.
They look like a general bakery from the outside, but they surely serve up some great eats!
Mandy
Excellent Danish bakery! They had all the classics, such as cardamom rolls and tevirkes, as well as a few other goodies. Staff was friendly and patient. A nice nostalgic throw back to Denmark.
Alrun Burgmeier
Awesome pastries, baked goods and cakes. Love the Royal Croissant, best almond croissant I ever had.
Sara K
An insanely wide array of tasty baked goods. I will have to come back at least 5 more times to try all the different varieties! Good thing I only live a few blocks from here.
Jackie Beckman
I've heard good things about Larsens and have never been until today. Afterwards, I prefer Byen Bakery for Scandinavian goods in Fremont and Piccolinos in Ballard for pasties. Maybe it's because I came in on a Saturday but every baked good we took home ended up being borderline stale.... thus making my entire Larsens experience mediocre at best.
Julian D
Large large selection of fresh baked breads, cookies, pastries, muffins, fried doughnuts and more! Coffee as well. Just remodeled and looks great. Seating inside, wheelchair accessible. Street parking.
Kathy Engle
Wonderful bakery. The baked goods are absolutely delicious. Highly recommend.
Ryan Knight
Wife's family ordered a traditional Norwegian wedding cake that was amazing. It was super nice of them to also throw in some Italian flags for my family background. The cake was a hit with my family.
Thank you!
Joel Di Pietro
I've been a big fan of Larsen's Bakery for years. One of my favorite things to get is the Cardamom Braid bread. It's the best.
Allicat “Allicat Lotus” Lotus
This is an incredibly wonderful traditional bakery. They have delicious crosaunts and almond paste, marzipan, and possibly the best cheesecake in the city I have had yet!!!
Cindy Arbogast
Love this place! A real Danish Bakery that also serves coffee & espresso. Not a restaurant serving over priced pastries. Prices are bakery prices. A regular stop on my calendar.
yenchian lim
All the pastries I have tried are delicious. Great variety of drinks and cookies, breads, cakes and pastries. Lots of people from the neighborhood drop by for their daily / weekly fix.
James Chao
Place may be old. But I am here for the food. And their donuts are wonderful. Their special made croissant is also really good. Recommend the paprika cheddar cheese croissant
Pamela Brown
I was greeted with smiles and felt like I was treated like family warm service!! I went in for a maple bar left with a raspberry strudel and Turkey Havarti croissant ..... stop on by they have something tasty to make your taste buds dance!
Kim Dern
All their baked goods are amazing but I especially loved the cinnamon rolls and maple bars! 😋 …
Michael Reszler
Amazing pastry, poor customer service. The lady at the counter was very pushy and unhelpful. I could understand urgency if it was busy but I was the only customer at the counter. I asked several questions about the pastries and was given short answers that largely turned out to be false. I'll be back but I hope she won't.
Lynette Schell
Home-baked, family owned, local staple, delicious delight for all senses and all ages. Fast, friendly service. Street parking is a bit sketchy.
Kathryn Saini
Love so many things about Larsen’s Bakery. The staff is always really friendly, love their chai lattes, love their spinach and feta croissant, love so many of their fresh-baked breads.
Thomas Kroyer
Closed thing to a real Dansk bageri/Danish Bakery I found in WA., as good as any "Gold Bager" chain of Danish bakeries 🇩🇰🤗 …
Carol Thompson
Fabulous place. Best doughnuts and pastries in town, and not overpriced. Good place to get bread, lefse, and gorgeous, scrumptious cakes (have gotten custom cakes decorated with godzilla, cookie monster, you name it).
Amanda Reed
The Cardamom Braid is my must buy. So delicious and reminds me of Finland.
Randy G
Awesome as usual, and even better near Christmas!!!
Blake Hamilton
I’ve been buying the “Day Old” Cinnamon Twists for 50% off & it’s such a grand discovery - more like “Day Gold.” I frequent Larsen’s on a weekly if not daily basis. It powers me through my monotonous days.
C. Lomen
I first stopped by this place about 5 years ago and had one of the best home made danishes I've ever had in many years of danish eating. Unfortunately, I'm really never that far north & was only there at that time because the person I was dating then lived just down the street. Many years later & 2 relationships down the line... My current boyfriend & I were meeting a friend down the street & we drove by on a whim because we got a little turned around & there it was; Larsen's Bakery! I squealed w/excitement & yelled for my boyfriend to "pull over & park!" When he obliged w/a confused expression I responded w/ " Just trust me," & made him follow me inside where we were greeted w/an amazing display of everything I wish I had the pleasure of eating every single day. After we each gazed over the 4 separate cases they had so graciously filled completely to the brim (despite it being late afternoon on a Saturday, wow!) we were greeted w/a younger females smiling face, kindly asking if we were ready & what we would like. My boyfriend got a maple bar (his all time favorite doughnut which are hard to find freshly made tasting & not any hint of staleness at that time of day, especially on a weekend!) & I ordered some sort of flat twist dessert, & got to choose between raspberry & some sort of cinnamon delishness that I'm sure is great but since there was only one raspberry left, I knew the route I had to take. (Oh gawd... It literally was so deliciousy amazing, I took the entire rest of the day to eat it because I wanted to savor every last morsel. No joke, it was purchased right before 3p & I didn't take the last bite of it until almost midnight which is extremely rare for me to do considering I'm someone that would live solely off of pastries if it didn't mean I'd have horrible death & be prone to health issues I want nothing to do w/if I can help it) & as my boyfriend went to pay (we decided to get out of there as fast as we came in before we bought the rest of the entire place) I was grazing the cases one last time simply to catch one last glance at all their beauty when something caught my eye; Challah! I said to our kind employee; is that Challah!!? "Yes!" She replied & before I could say anything else,it was like she read my mind because she stepped away from the counter to wrap a loaf up for me. Now, mind you, I am not Jewish, but one of my best friends growing up was half Jewish & her & I used to get in trouble because we'd eat the entire loaf to ourselves when it was supposed to be saved for Shabbat. Since then, I've always told myself I'd never have it unless it was truly the real thing & the reason it caught my eye, wasn't because I saw it's label, but because of how it was beautifully braided & was reminiscent of those same loaves from many years ago that ultimately made me realize why I was deemed w/having "baby fat" way past my years of being a baby. I ended up saving the loaf to make Challah french toast topped w/fresh raspberries & homemade whip cream for my boyfriend & his mother & they were both very pleased w/the outcome ("It's going to be very hard to ever have 'regular' french toast after this," his mom said) All & all, I would recommend everyone & their mom (& dad, of course!) go to this place at least once in their life, you will not be let down in any sort of way, I promise you that.
Marc Williams
Absolutely LOVE the baked goods here! So many OPTIONS. When I'm back up north I'll be sure to visit again!
Helen Langvold
Larson's is a definate "Go To" spot for me when I'm liking for a great loaf of varietal breads, Scandinavian cardamom rolls with or without currants, marzipan cakes for birthday or other special celebrations as well as those tried and true almond kringle or Torn Kake. ( tower/18 ring almond cake for extra festivities ) decorated with norwegian flags in the traditional old way I was raised with.
Service is always with a smile. Staff is knowledgeable because some have been there a very long time and that speaks volumes for the back operation.
The updates look fabulous and welcoming and very European in the style of today
They also serve the local church community.
Hip, hip, Hurra for Larsons !!!!!
They will be here for many more years to come,
Gratulete
Eric Sorensen
One of the best Scandinavian bakeries in America, with an expanded storefront and line of artisan breads. The kringle, a flaky pastry with buttery almond cream, is superb.
Scott Vincent
Holy what. I am a major chocolate chip cookie fan. And I don’t say this lightly but. It is one of the best cookies I’ve ever had. Wow. I’ve known of this place for 6 hours and have told everyone I know haha.
Courtney Bessert
So. Many. Delicious. Options. I highly recommend the croissants although everything I tried was fresh and tasty. The lines can be long so I recommend visiting at an off peak time.
Jordan Langan
Huge selection and everything is fantastic. It’s been well known for a long time for a good reason.
Eddy Richmond
Larsen's Bakery has become a holiday tradition in my family. Every year a week before Christmas I placed an order for a variety of things, but always for a kringle and smorkage. The pastries arrive quickly and flawless! Thank you Larsen's Bakery for bringing my Danish heritage closer to my family during the holidays!
DB Weeds
Great bakery, we always hit Larsen's for pastry.
Terraisbad
I really love this place, great baked goods but there milk is pretty disgusting I don't drink it at all but when my friends drink it they only finish half of a miniature milk carton and they have to drink it with a straw.
Susan Nelson
Great bakery specializing in traditional Scandinavian breads, pastry and cookies. My Swedish grandmother used to make these things so I go to Larsens every Christmas to relive those memories.
Richard Alatorre
I flippin love this place!!! The best pastries for a reasonable price and friendly service. I suggest going there, I come all the way from queen ann.
Edit: Now I live in Bellevue and still go there every once in a while.

Really tasty! As a native Scandinavian, I can assure you that their pastries would be good back home (sweden) as well!
Jena Evans
Been coming here for years and they are hands down the best bakery I have been to in the greater Seattle area.
Rai
Everything there is so fresh and tasty. They have a very wide variety of baked goods and fresh breads.
Robert Schuppert-McDonald
The bakery is a Ballard treasure. They have pastries, donuts, cookies, and cakes, but more famous for Scandinavian delights such as kringle almond paste pastry and marzipan cakes.
Carlos Cardoso (n00bmaker)
Looks good on baked goods but has no soda :c

I drive for.... a large local county-based transit agency, and about once a month, I'll call ahead and place an order for the time I'm scheduled at the stop right outside. The staff are super friendly and extra helpful.
John
I've been going there for almost 30 years. They are a little heavy on the sugar but thats just fine with me.

Danish Kringle! I've grown up on these from Larsen's bakery. If you like almonds, you really need to try this pastry. It's absolutely delicious!

Relatively close to the Danish version of thebirkes, however not really close with there strawberry pies or rye bread. Not to many happy campers behind the counter, but I will return for the thebirkes.

THE BEST BAKERY IN SEATTLE, IN WASHINGTON AND PERHAPS THE ENTIRE WEST COAST.
The last of a very few, classic-yet-trendy modern bakeries left in Seattle. Larsen's has goodies that sell themselves (see my pictures). A Seattle Tradition for decades--this place is always packed around the holidays. Expensive, but worth it products. $2.50 cookies and about the same for individual pastries. 1/4 sheet cakes are very reasonable at $32 or so (that's about 15-18 pieces). The only place left in Seattle that I know of to get Marzipan cake--that's an almond coating on top of white cake with either raspberry, lemon or rum flavoring. OMG, out of this world, beyond delicious.
No pun intended--Larsen's cannot be topped. Just spend the money, you've earned it.
A word of warning: parking along side NW 80th Street is tricky, as the street is barely wide enough--either you or your car can take a hit so be careful. I recommend parking in the lot just to the south on the corner of 24th and NW 80th. The bible college folks won't mind, and so they shouldn't if they practice what they preach.
Absolutely, the best chocolate chip cookie and best Snickerdoodle to be had in this area. The state. The country. The World? Perhaps!
Cheryl Altschuler
