Reviews of Golden Wheat Bakery
The cute little bakery is located between 30th and Cherry St. It has a fusion of Mexican flares. I came in early today the place is pretty quiet but is probably bc is after 2 pm. The gal helped me seem very nice. The pastries didn't seem so fresh to me so I didn't want to buy much of anything. I got a club sandwich and a cookie for my niece. The coconut cookie looks tasty so I got one to try. It was pretty moist and delicious. Not overly coconut.
The price seems high to me. Especially on the croissant.
If you live in the area and want to support a local business, check them out.
Nice local business and hearty neighborhood bakery. Lots of baked goods to choose from and they have coffee and sandwiches too. Service was very friendly and prices are reasonable.
I only had their croissants. It was pretty ok, I wound't complain about it nor would I make a detour for it.
Such a cozy place. Everyone that works there is super nice and friendly. Love their pastries and burritos!
What a jewel of a place. Angel’s desserts are delicious creations worthy of the best French pastry shops, prepared with an enthusiasm for the work that I have rarely seen anywhere. Latte was excellent, almond croissant was the best in town so far.
If you care about great (not just good) pastries, a real sense of place, and want to support a local business, this is the one.
Can’t wait to take delivery of our bûche de Noël.
Very sweet neighborhood bakery that also offers tamales and empanadas. The baked goods aren’t mind boggling like Columbia City or Seawolf, but they are quite tasty and kids will enjoy them a lot. The tamales are really nice, a very soft style with a good balance of filling and flavor. The staff is all family and super friendly.
The Tres Leches cake was fantastic! We are it up so fast during the goodbye celebration.
I have passed this little bakery twice, so I decided to stop in today. I was welcomed by a young lady that gave me a taste of a delightful pastry. It was heavenly. I purchased a Danish that was just as delightful. I am looking forward to returning when I have more time.
The service is always great, friendly staff. Basic food options but they taste great (breakfast sandwiches, croissants etc ) they have optional plant milk for drinks.
This place is amazing. So many things to recommend: the croissants are divine, the empanadas will melt in your mouth, there’s an unbelievably delicious chocolate mousse cake plus hands-down the best cheesecake that I’ve ever eaten. They have great selections of seasonal pies and tarts. Also cookies, pastries and fantastic fresh baked bread.
They sell out fast so order ahead or get there early because this place is a hidden local gem.
Lovely place!! Great service
Good espresso, nice people, nice outdoor seating along the sidewalk. Don’t miss the Tamales, breakfast sandwiches, or the olive bread. They usually have day-old loaves at a nice price!
Going back for more tamales. Excellent. Good espresso too. Didn't love the papusas.
been 3 or 4 times now. great people and delicious cakes. Had an issue with a cake slice once and they apologized & gave me an entire cake replacement! would have been just fine with a replacement slice! huge variety here but im just in love with their cheesecake.
My favorites are the rugaluh and the macaroons - best I've had outside of New York. Tons of savory lunch options as well. Only wish they were open later.
Great local bakery, including gluten free options. Love their cookies, pastries (especially the danishes), and lattes. They also have a delicious breakfast selection (egg burrito and bagel sandwiches) and lunch options. I can't speak for the cakes yet but they look very good!
Went in for a pastry and coffee, both of which exceeded my expectations. Their horchata latte is so delicious and I want to go back for more.
The staff was super friendly and everyone that came in struck up a conversation with Angel.
I highly recommend this place!
Love love love! The breakfast sandwiches and the horchata latte is everything. Everything is so fresh and smells amazing when you walk in. Definitely a neighborhood jewel. Don't sleep on them. They even have seating outside so you can enjoy the morning sun.
A lovely family owned bakery with very nice service. I enjoyed a delicious Blueberry Danish pastry while watching the world go by from their quaint outdoor seating area.
Cute bakery with yummy food and drinks! Fairly priced too. Horchata lattes and breakfast burritos were great. Need to try the tamales next time.
Great neighborhood gem and find! Their amazing butter croissants are a must have as well as any of their Tamales; best one is the Jalapeño & Cheese. The coconut macaroon was pretty good too and you cannot go wrong with their breakfast Mexicano Burrito - tasty and hearty. Mostly everything is made in house. Friendly, personable service. Their espresso drinks have a unique, smoky-dark mocha-caramel undertone that I have not tasted anywhere. They have a wide variety of baked goods to choose from. Looking forward to trying their homemade flan cake and cookies!
I always love visiting Golden Wheat Bakery and I usually visit the Cherry st location. Both locations have excellent friendly service and quality food. Their Skinny Burrito w/ avocado is my go-to comfort food lately and I feel good supporting such hard working kind folks. If you live in the neighborhood, please consider supporting this shop by grabbing a coffee or horchata on your walks!
The owner of this place really makes it special. He knows about food and will happily explain how he makes things. His baked goods are second to none in the city. When I find his food at other coffee shops and get excited. Breakfast burritos and tamales are also excellent. Its places like this that give Seattle's neighborhoods their unique character.
Amazing food and friendly staff! I had to come back and edit this review because I moved out of Seattle and this is one of the places I miss the most! Their tamales, horchata latte, and pastry case were highlights of my time spent living in the Madrona neighborhood.
This is the best kept secret in the South end Seattle Area.
this establishment is a family-owned-and-operated place of business. They are so friendly. They have horchata lattes that are out of this world. The deserts are amazing. I've probably ordered at least five deserts here to take to Holiday Events these past few months and everybody wants to know where the deserts are from.
I highly recommend Golden Wheat Bakery. They take orders as well. The flan is simply delicious.
fantastic bakery. very nice italian sodas. great place to hang out and skip school at.
I live nearby and have seen this place many times but only recently went in. The breakfast sandwiches are fabulous, the bagels, cookies, and croissants are excellent, and coffee is very good. Nice people! I'm going to make it a habit to stop in more often.
Wonderful service. The club sandwiche was delicious and well prepared with quality ingredients. For the price I felt like I was getting a great deal. The baked goods I bought were a hit at my little girls day. Definitely going to come back.
The people who run this place are so sweet and generous. The food is good, the prices aren't bad. When I thanked the woman who brought me my sandwich, she said "you're welcome" in a way that made me feel like she might be my mom from another life.
Excellent pastries made on site-good coffee too with beans from a
Local roasting company. Go early if you want a cinnamon roll before they run out. Awesome empanadas too. Lovely independent owner and great customer service.
The breakfast sandwich on croissant might be the best sandwich I've had in my entire life. This place is a hidden gem - friendly staff, great baked treats!
Golden Wheat has the best pastries and sweetest staff around! Comfortable seating inside and out. They’ve also been nothing but friendly to my big pup when I have brought him along. Love this place! Can’t speak highly enough!
the owner is so warm and everyone who works here is kind and welcoming. i love to grab the combo (a coffee, croissant breakfast sandwich, and huge cookie) on my way to work. you won't be disappointed! check out their other lunch and pastry options.
I love this little, local bakery! This is the perfect spot to stop for coffee and a bite. It is locally owned and they sell the day-old baked goods at a discount. Above all, my favorite is the breakfast sandwich on the croissant with bacon! YUM
Angel and his mother/daughter? are really sweet. The tamales are cooked by the grandmother of the family. The operation just screams wholesomeness...
More importantly for the review though, the baked goods are very good. Definitely in Seattle's top tier. The tacos (served for weekend lunch) and tamales (served all day, 'er day) are great.
My favorite little bakery-full of delectable treats!-that's right around the corner. I can't think of too many bakeries that offer pie, tamales, rugelach, and empanadas. I highly recommend this bakery for the quality of goods and the warm customer service. It's a gem!
Deliciously fluffy and flakey baked goods, friendly service, tasty coffee.
This is a terrific local bakery. But they make everything you'd find in a Paris bread shop. And also breakfast burritos and tamales. Crossaints in every iteration: pan e chocolate, almond paste, you name it.
Good neighborhood place for a quick breakfast or snack. Only bakery/coffee shop in several block radius. 701 Coffee or Cupcake Royal-Madrona are ~10 blocks away.
Some items are fantastic and others are only okay. Decent pastries, great quiche, awesome chocolate cake.
Very nice little bakery. I'm in here fairly consistently during the school year, and the owners are always super friendly. Good sweet treats for reasonable prices. I would recommend this place to anyone.
Nicest people, great coffee, HORCHATA LATTES! Gluten free options and knowledge of celiac disease. Pupusas & tamales are also options. 11/10
They sure know how to make their rugelach. All their cookies are good. Not too sweet but just right.
Amazing pastries and delicious food. The quiche is the best I’ve ever had- fresh, buttery crust and so yummy. The service here is top notch- super friendly employees!
Tasty chorizo and egg breakfast burrito. Large enough to satisfy and small enough to finish in one go.
Best butter croissants in town. Nice and flaky. I’m addicted to them. I don’t know about anything else.
Really cozy bakery and coffee shop! I did not get to try any of their full meal items, but I can tell you that their soy latte was well made and their lemon bar is definitely something to experience. I will be coming back soon!
Golden Wheat Bakery is a fabulous gem where locals come to get coffee and breakfast and chat with the staff. Don't be fooled, this place is worth the stop.
The minute you step inside this cozy neighborhood stalwart, you're greeted (almost literally) by the delicious aroma of coffee and pastries. Get even a couple of steps in and a cheery voice from behind the counter welcomes you and invites you to make your selection from a coffee menu loaded with options and a vintage glass display case filled with fresh-baked goods. If you're lucky, you'll be able to score a seat at the window and settle in to watch the less-lucky Seattlites scurry past in the drizzle. (Only one negative note: avoid the disappointing blueberry muffin. Its fluffy golden brown crown conceals the fact that only a few berries await you beneath.)
Delicious coffee and wonderfully appealing baked goods in a relaxed environment with friendly staff. Loved taking a moment out of my day here with a piping hot horchata latte and a book from their swap shelf.
This is one of my favorite places! Everyone is always super sweet and welcoming. The food and the coffee are both delicious! One of the best bakeries I’ve been to in Seattle. :))))
Delicious food with a recently expanded menu. They have a wide selection of baked goods, all made on site! Great for a quick breakfast/lunch or to meet friends for coffee.
Neighborhood bakery with wide assortment of delicious pastry items. Will come back to try their savory items.
I love to support neighborhood places like this. Sandwich & pupusa we got were made to order & thoughtfully packed. Owner brought our items & thanked us personally.
Great coffee, wonderful bakery products and sandwiches that are truly delicious, and obviously made with love. Reasonable prices as well!
Coffee is very good; light roasted flavor, pound cake has great flavor and to be eaten with the coffee. Staff is super nice and the whole vibe is homey and welcoming.
5 stars for the great customer service a and cozy atmosphere. This place isn't fancy, but the coffee, desserts, and tamales are good and the staff are friendly and really care about the customers.
Great little bakery with surprisingly large inventory of delicious food. Would highly recommend.
Delicious food. Great coffee. Great workers. What else is there to say? GO HERE!!
Awesome customer service and their pastries are delicious. I have also bought cakes and they are always high quality. I recommend this place a lot if you are around Madrona and Leschi area.
Favorites to try...
Pecan cookies, Rugelach & the Tamale plate is one of the tastiest meals around.
Friendly, expert baker/owner.
Everything was fantastic from the bagel to the cookies to the cheese danish. I would have gotten more if I could have. Lovely people, lovely service, look forward to coming back.
Got a large order wrong but were fairly quick to change it once we realized. Good basic food, tacos and quiche, etc. They can do vegan and also gluten free.
We got the pound cake and a croissant. Both tasted amazing.
Awesome pastries and coffee, and the nicest staff! Will definitely be going back! Thanks for brightening our day and pushing through during this challenging time! :)
My favorite bakery. Angel is a superb baker, and makes the only good bagels in town, in addition to excellent pastries, cakes, soup and tamales.
I love their homemade tamales. The owners are such friendly community folks. Support this sweet local family owned business!
What a gem! Everything certainly was delish and home made. I think they are family run and seem to have a loyal following. Very cozy atmosphere.
Happend to just be driving by when I noticed it. Stopped spontaneously grabed a Danish and a Croissant both were absolutely the best I had in a long time. Worth the money! Friendly service.
Angel has a great shop. Yummy sweet and savory treats, including abuelita’s tamales. Great community feel.
Enjoyable family-owned, small bakery and coffeeshop. Breakfast sandwiches are excellent. Also serves lunch.
The food here is INCREDIBLE. As someone from the southwest, the tamales here are to die for. Do yourself a favor and come here once...twice... everyday.
The best authentic breakfast burrito in town!! Tasty treats! Family owned, great people.
Good bakery with good breads, great cinnamon rolls, cookies and cakes. Bonus with breakfast sandwiches and tamales.
Bakery goodies so good. Great customers service. I will be back
Yummy😄 …
Awesome!!! Latte was excellent and pecan cookie very nice. Everything in the case looked delicious.
Ruggelah was perfect and the papusa with toppings was tasty add well.
Great food and great people who are always friendly and caring. Love their breakfast burritos.
The grandmother of the family who cooks here is magical, the food is delicious, with some of the best cheesecake I've ever eaten.
Delicious breakfast burritos, freshly baked breads, pastries, and desserts.
Love this local, family-owned cafe. Amazing pastries & tamales!!
I wish I still lived in the Central District so I could go here more often. Watch the hours though they aren't open late.
Hidden gem! Amazing huge lunches and wonderful coffee. Go here.
Fresh baked goods and one of the best cups of coffee I had while in seattle

Hidden gem
Small place in a neighborhood, looks like it’s a family owned bakery. You can find there good croissants, home made pies, cheese cake. Some folks ordered croissants with ham and bacon. It has its charm and authenticity which is fantastic.
Coffee is very delicious, one of a few places where you can find an 8oz cappuccino with a choice of 1 or 2 shots.
I’d recommend to stop by and we’ll be back for coffee and to try more pastries.
Love their pastries, the atmosphere, and most especially the croissant breakfast sandwich. Looking forward to getting a birthday cake from here
Pure love and adoration for the consumables in this establishment!
Came here to grab a quick breakfast! This place totally deserves more recognition and attention! 💝✨
Ordered their Plain Bagel with cream cheese 🥯 , Chocolate Croissant 🥐 and CoffeeCake 🍰!
Loved them all ❤️ The chocolate croissant is probably one of the best croissants I’ve ever had ! The filling was just perfect, not too sweet either 🥰
The coffee cake is perfectly done and topped off with some cinnamon sugar!
Will definitely come again and recommend this place ❤️
Ps - They also offer lunch etc.
