I have been looking for a great bagel shop and this one nails it! I came here on a Saturday morning around 8:45am and it was a little crowded but by the time we left around 9am, there was a line out the door so expect a little bit of a wait during peak hours. The line moves fast but I would definitely recommend that you be prepared with what you want before it's your turn to order. The bagels we fresh and delicious and the staff was super friendly. I will definitely be a returning customer.

The bagel place is on the Northeast corner of Gilbert and Pecos. The bagels were crispy on the outside and nice and chewy on the inside...true NY style bagel. The breakfast sandwiches were very flavorful but light on the cream cheese. We love cream cheese on our bagels and if you are like us make sure to have extra put on. Even the bagel with just cream cheese was light on the schmear. Staff was friendly and the service was quick. If you have a group, best just send someone and take it to go as there is not a lot of seating. Best bagels we have had in the Phoenix area so far and we will return.

Bongiorno Bagels is absolutely incredible! They hand make their bagels and they taste so delicious. You can create your own gourmet style breakfast sandwich, I did a delicious toasted jalapeño cheddar bagel with gourmet turkey and provolone cheese with an egg. It was amazing! This is our new favorite breakfast spot. We have not found any other places that compare. Highly recommend!

Wow!! Being from the East coast we are very particular about our bagels! We stopped in here on a whim. The bagel sandwiches were great. The outside had the perfect crisp. The bacon, egg and cheese was great. It was extremely busy and everyone working seemed happy to be there and service was fast and friendly. Highly recommend.

This is the best bagel breakfast sandwich that I’ve found in AZ! You can tell their bagels are made fresh, they take pride in their bagels and want to provide the best and fastest service For you get your food. I arrived on a Saturday around 10am and there was already a line out the door and into the parking lot. From the time I went and stood in line till the time I got my food was about 30min. Not too bad until you see everyone who ordered after you getting their food. There is an option to order ahead, I believe you just call with your order then when it’s ready you walk in and go to the right of the counter. We both got everything bagels. There is an option to choose how you want your egg cooked, what cheese you want and of course the many options of bagels!! Note they make bagels throughout because they sell so many, so be ready to choose a different bagel of yours is not available! I cannot wait to go back and try something else cause this place is the best!!!

NY Bagels made with NY water-what else do I have to say?! (yes, they have a machine that mimics the water from NY) The bagels are delicious. The staff are super friendly. I just wished there was more space to sit and eat.

What a find! Great bagels and very friendly people. You can tell the quality of a place by how happy people are to be there. The owner Eddie was out front cleaning the windows while we waited for our bagels and they were the best I’ve had in Arizona. I wish we had Bongiornos in our neighborhood but will have to settle on grabbing some while visiting.

It would be impossible to find a better bagel shop anywhere on the planet, much less in Arizona. Bongiorno Bagels is top notch in quality and service! They're never ANYTHING but extremely friendly and the food never misses. The hot double is easily my favorite breakfast sandwich, period, end of story. It packs ham, sausage, egg, munster, and hot honey, traditionally on a sesame seed bagel, but I prefer blueberry. The flavors are flawless and blend perfectly. Any east coasters visiting for the winter would do well to stop here.

This is the best bagel shop outside of New York. This family really figured out how to make bagels like you’d find in New York.. chewy and delicious. The lines are long most days, but they are absolutely worth the wait. It’s a family owned business and they are friendly, and welcoming.. but quick and efficient with the lines. They even have knish, black and white cookies. Amazing.

I'm from the northeast so a decent bagel is a huge deal! Bongiorno develops their own water to mimic authentic New York water to create their bagels. Honestly could have anything on the menu and enjoy it. Keep an eye on the operating hours as they are not open everyday!

We had an Airbnb in Gilbert and someone recommended Bongiorno Bagels to us. We came here twice during our 4 day stay. So good! Breakfast Bagel was fantastic. And the cream cheese is also amazing. Can't wait to come back again next time we are visiting. The staff was also friendly!

Ok, I was a bit skeptical when my brother told me about Bongiorno Bagels. But then my son said they were great too. I went there for the first time this week. The badges are delicious. Crispy and chewy at the same time. They have a pretty good selection of bagels and a nice diversity of spreads. My wife would have liked to see a pump king cream cheese this time of year. There is plenty of staff there to keep the line moving. And yes, there is a line… because everyone likes them. We will definitely go back.

Did you know Boiling Bagels was a thing? Well I didn’t until I met the amazing owners or Bomgiorno Bagels and they explained why Boiled is better and that is so true! New York style with NY water and just a cool environment. Service, family, and food. Love this place.

This place is so yummy!!!! I get their bagels every week, and they always are fresh and very chewy. The employees are always very nice, and although the lines are long, they go by pretty quickly. This place is an absolute favorite of mine, and I wish they were open every day of the week!

My wife is from the Morristown NJ area via Cali and said these are the best 🥯 outside of NYC! I like their plain 🥯 with a flavored cream cheese. Fresh made daily. Riley, John, Ed and the rest of the crew are always personable and after awhile, they remember your name. Probably, most likely, the BEST bagels in Arizona, by a long shot!!

Overall bagels are good, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside with flavor. I knocked it because I did get one overworked/under proofed bagel in my half dozen so a little disappointed. But do love that they offer a variety of cream cheeses including a vegan one!

He's a retired New York City firefighter who retired in New York and came out to Arizona because his daughter and son-in-law are our shops and move to the area decided open the bagel place together

Been here about a dozen times so far. Great service every time! The everything bagel is perfect! I've had an everything bagel in NYC too and this is way better. I don't drink coffee that much either but when I do it's at Bongiorno Bagels.

Got bagels here for the first time. New York style bagels boiled then baked. I had the advantage of growing up in Brooklyn where pizza and bagels are a daily staple. Yes, I know I’m not in Brooklyn I’m in Arizona. No you can’t get true New York pizza or bagels outside of New York. You can get close, but by very few places. So for most, they have nothing to compare it too. So it’s not fair for me to do so. For most of the bagel shops in the area the bagels are small. Bongiorno’s is no different. They do taste good and have good texture and density. Aside from being on the small side, most of them didn’t even look like a bagel: some had no holes. That’s a first for me for all the bagel shops I’ve been to in the valley. So they were good, but not great. Not sure if I’d go back. $29 for a dozen bagels and a one pound plain cream cheese schmear.

UPDATE (October 2020): Proper Mask wearing is poor and there is little social distancing but they at least no longer allow dine in eating though they have two outdoor tables next to the open front door. The staff member (who was under 30) who helped me wore his mask over his mouth only. That’s not how you wear a mask!! And the customer after me (who didn’t understand that we’re supposed to keep distance between customers) also wore his mask only over his mouth. Didn’t see hand sanitizer and employees weren’t wearing gloves to prepare food. So disappointed to see what’s going on when the owner isn’t there. In terms of the bagel, well this is no New York bagel so if you’re not from the NY area don’t think they taste like this. The bagels at Bongiorno are too soft and doughy, no different than the rubbish at Einsteins. And if you ask for your bagel to be toasted they barely toast it. I also didn’t like how they put the containers of deli salad in the same bag with the bagels. The blueberry bagel does have a lot of blueberry flavor which was nice. I do appreciate that they have have the usual deli fare like macaroni salad, potato salad, tuna salad, etc. and even Marino’s Italian ices though there’s no wooden spoon that used to come with it. Seemed Expensive to me, the quality declined as did the standards. The tuna, which they make, was terrible. Extremely dry and they put something in it other than celery that looked like parsley. Tasted odd. Whitefish is imported so that’s always good. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Friendly, helpful staff who gives away bags of bagels when it’s close to closing time. Whitefish is imported from Acme in New York. It can be salty but it’s good. My family thought the bagels weren’t authentic NY bagels. We’re from NY so we’re tough critics. I’ve had the gluten friendly bagel and didn’t like it. They have large deli pickles and good iced tea.

I did a make your own based off another review with hashbrown, egg, cheese and bacon on an everything bagel and I could eat it everyday! The portions are huge too. The bagels are outstanding here, and they make some of the best breakfast sandwiches in the Chandler / Gilbert area. The food here is CONSISTANTLY good and the employees are always helpful, quick and friendly. Just a heads up, it can and does get very busy depending on what time you get here since they are only open a few days a week.

Suppose to be a NY quality bagel experience...not quite. First off this Bacon egg and cheese bagel cost almost $8.00!! Absolutely crazy expensive for NY or AZ or any other state. The sandwich itself is good, although by no means worth $8! And is certainly not even close to a NY bagel. I can tell you first hand because I'm from NY. The sandwich is a good novelty for those who moved to AZ from NY, but for native Arizonian's I can't see them spending $8 on a sub par breakfast sandwich .....after response from owner I was apparently charged incorrectly, mistakes happen...2 stars now 3 stars.

This is a standout eatery in the Phoenix Metro, not just east valley/Gilbert, but the entire city of 4million+ people. Bongiorno is a special. The owner is from NYC and brings his big heart and powerful presence to the experience. The staff is amazing and the turn and burn food like no other. Amazingly, they have managed to replicate what makes NYC bagels so unique, and their taste and quality will keep you coming back for more. This place is a destination for our family in Phoenix. We make the voyage out to Gilbert just for these bagels sometimes. Beyond the great food and atmosphere there is a sense of community, and that's what keeps you coming back again and again. You can't over-hype this place enough. You HAVE to eat here if you love bagels and love AZ restaurants

We saw Bongiorno Bagels in an Instagram ad and as a New Yorker, I knew I had to try it! We were instantly obsessed. The food is incredible and the staff are so nice. We’ve only been three times but already staff recognize us, which is really cool and feels familial. Don’t be intimidated if you see a line outside this place, they keep it moving and it’s well worth the wait. I can’t see us getting bagels anywhere else!

Craving a GOOD New York bagel - well then this is the place and trust me the whole city knows it so it is always the best idea to head over in the early hours of opening to secure your delicious prized favorite bagel or sandwich. They don't just have the standard bagels and schmear - they have flavors upon flavors to choose from and on top of that, they have the best breakfast sandwiches out there. So fresh and warm all the ingredients melt in your mouth in a perfect blend. The only reason for the 4 stars is I wish they have some more seating options so we could enjoy their bagels with morning coffee or juice and the waiting area gets a little crowded. We have gone back multiple weekends in a row and haven't been disappointed yet. Even though they are always busy when we pop in they always ensure they are giving the best customer service to their customers and even start to recognize you which is always nice!

We have the New Bagel King!!!! Stopped by and had a poppy seed bagel with pastrami, tomato, mayo and mustard. Absolutely the best bagel sandwich I've had! Bongiorno's just doesn't put your sandwich together with pre-portioned refrigerated deli meat, they freshly slice your pastrami, fresh mozzarella, homemade herb Mayo. Do I need to go on? I'll see you at 6 a.m. tomorrow!

This place is the best. Breakfast bagel sandwiches with bacon egg and cheese hit the spot every time. No need to have these bagels toasted either as they are perfectly crisp on the outside and soft in the middle. Easily the best bagel on this side of town. I have driven to all the top bagel spots in the East Valley and Bongiorno destroys them by a fairly wide margin.

Love the bagels at this place. Easily the best bagels in the valley. If your on this side of town during their open hours their sandwiches are amazing, breakfast or lunch. They only use boar's head and fresh made cream cheese. We love to come and just get bagels and the fresh cream cheese even sometimes. They have coffee as well, just regular coffee or decaf I believe, not sure the brand. The owner is really nice, head been there everytime we've came, nice local run business with a great method for making quality food. Glad to have them in my neighborhood!

This place is awesome! I'm from NJ and it's hard to find a decent bagel joint here. I usually just have them shipped from back east to Arizona but prices have gone up and I'm not willing to pay it unless I'm having overnight guests in town. Now that my husband found this place I don't need to order from NY! You need to go early in the day because they run out of bagels closer to closing time it seems. I do the drive from Tempe so it's about 25+ minutes away. That should tell you something. Five stars for sure! They're always busy yet owner still has time to speak to his customers. I love this place! Don't hesitate.. just see for yourself! Five stars for sure!!

Finally a good bagel place in the east valley! The bagels are fresh and delicious and they toast them to perfection! The birthday cake cream cheese is a fun option for my kids. My only complaint was that it was really warm inside, but I may have visited on a day when their AC was on the fritz, so I won't let that affect my rating. I do wish there was a little more seating though.

Easily the best bagel on this side of the valley. I could tell it would be good just from the look of the bagels as I walked up to order. When a bagel is right, the crust has an unmistakable sheen that I haven't seen very often in AZ, but it was commonplace growing up in New Jersey. I'll be going back again for sure as they make a lot of other deli sandwiches that I've had a hard time finding since I moved out west. To my surprise, they even make Taylor Ham/Pork Roll. The people running the place were very friendly as well.

Solid bagels that reminded me of bagels I used to eat almost everyday in NJ. Great service as well as they take orders over the phone and provide curbside pick-up. Will definitely come back when I'm in the mood for some more bagels! Only criticism is that I wish the bagels were a bit wider and thinner as I thought they were too fat.

This place is quite the hidden gem! The bagels were just how I remembered them from NYC. The folks running it are so friendly and accommodating. I wanted to go today but there was a crazy long line. They are following COVID-19 precautions which is great. That does mean you might be waiting in the Phoenix heat for a bit but they are really efficient and fill orders quickly.

The blueberry bagel is divine, as are the everything and jalapeno cheddar. Their bacon chive spread is spectacular! If you order a sandwich, it will take some time, but it's so worth it.

This is a must visit! Of course, everyone has a like, and for me, a crispy outside crunch, with a soft chewy inside is what I like in a bagel. This will not disappoint. Bought the baker's dozen where you get a free bagel, and I also got their bacon and scallion, garlic, and plain cream cheese. All were thick, creamy and full of flavor. Again, this place is a must visit.

Closed Monday can get a bit warm inside but if you are hot imagine how the staff must feel. Hot oven and boiling water = hot small price to pay for quality product.

I've been wanting to try this place for a while! So I decided that today was the day. So I was a little torn what to order, so I ordered both the Fireman and the Mickey B. Honestly, I don't think I can chose a favorite. They are both so delicious, but so different. The Fireman is rich with maybe just a little too much cream cheese to salmon ratio. The everything bagel is absolute perfection. The Mickey B is so savory, the maple syrup drizzled on the sausage is perfect ain't of sweetness. The raisin bagel is soft and delicious. So in all, great first experience.

Went to get a bagel for breakfast looking for a taste of home and it was a bit disappointing. The staff was friendly and asked if I wanted my bagel toasted. While the lox and cream cheese were good, the bagel was just okay. The bagels we got were so puffy like the way Arizonans think bagels are supposed to be. They weren't dense like they make them in NY so I dont believe the whole water deal. Tired of people saying NY food when it never comes close. Maybe they were having problems making them the day we were there. My husband got a breakfast bagel which he said was good but didn't care for the bagel. Just to make sure we weren't judging it harsh we took a few home and he even said you can keep it. Haven't tried the Kaiser rolls. Sorry but this place not for us.

Bagels are always fresh and they have a water filtration system so they can have water as close as possible to New York City water. Arizona water is horrible so this system really helps. I highly recommend this place if you're looking for an authentic New York bagel.

I call it as i see it And 5 stars not only for great bagels but i seen you carry boars head meats and the prosciutto... Dont see that much. Also the cleanliness and how the owner greets and speaks to people and looks them in the eye not like half the places in town. Im a NY native all my life and thats very important interaction with costomers. So great job with that. We cant please everyone all the time and some people just look for the negative. And the ones who say you dont have chocalate chip well maybe they want a candy bar for breakfast. No loss. And if i want a bagel on Thanksgiving i better make sure the buissnes is open so sad how we can assume the world revovles around us and then right negative stuff. Again no loss. I had a cheese and cream cheese bagel (not sure of the name) and it was amaaaaaazing! Kept well in fridge. I didn't eat it until the next morning and it was still incredible after warming up in microwave.
