Reviews of El Coqui
Based on taste and quality of food I would've given this place 5 stars all around. Food is delicious. But they screwed up my order,no communication. I had drive back another 20 mins.
My favorite Puerto Rican bakery in Philly. The quality of the dulces is superb. As good or even better than many bakeries in the island. The food is also pretty decent although a bit overpriced. The place is gets quite packed and disorganized in a Hispanic fashion but worth the trip.
Excellent service, nice customer services, super clean, great taste, the line for order move very fast. We travel for 1 hour but I am super satisfied. Recomendado al 100% . No se van arrepentir.
I'm from out of state and was looking for a bite to eat. Found this quaint lil place to eat a quick meal. The place was busy and the food was great. Samples of cakes while the patrons ate. Staff was friendly, fast, and I'd recommend eating here.
good service.. food was delicious 😋 I will definitely recommend it 👌 👍👍👍👍👍 …
Bistrami sandwich with mayo and hot sauce…H.F.S. That’s Good!! Will try Cuban next and update.
Good food, lot of variety, descent prices, clean place.
Sandwiches are delicious bread is another thing 😋 staff very friendly I love this place the only thing I don't recommend is the lasagña but Avenas are the best. …
This place is awesome. I can’t help but get one of almost every baked good and dessert here because of how affordable it all is. Two huge loaves (1 lb.) of sweet bread for like 2.50, and it’s so fluffy and fresh.
Their platters are big portion, everything from rice and beans to chicken and pernil is spot on.
Their food was good, the employees were so helpful and great...
Everything is fresh here, from frituras to pastries. We love the pan sobao. Our son loves the pastrami sandwich. This is our go to place when we are craving some Puerto Rican food. We definitely recommend it.
Awesome food n service.
The pastries here are amazing.
Breakfast sandwiches are hearty and filling.
Came for lunch and of course the line was at the door, I suggest ordering ahead.
I typically order pastellios (carne queso, carne) heard the shrimp ones are good. They also typically have rice (white and Spanish rice), shredded pork, plantains, tostones, beans etc pretty much everything. I've also had the mofongo from here in the past and it was really good.
I mainly go there to get pastelillos de CARNE y QUESO and 1 lbs of pan sabao.
Best ones in the North East Philadelphia. Rellenos de papa is ok is missing something but is still good. And the stuffed platano are really good, gotta go early to get them because they sell really fast.. sometimes i get for breakfast also a bowl of cornmeal ( avena de maiz) is really good also.
if go get there to buy dinner then I'll get any rice white with beans on the side or red rice depending on the mood with baked chicken.
The coqui bakery got the most fresh food an the bread it’s so delicious
So everything is fresh an the pastry the cooked at the bakery
The food is delicious we've been there before but around noon, so they had a great selection. The bad thing is if you go in after 2pm they do not have much food to select from. We went around 230 and everything was sold out.
Amazing Puerto Rican food! The breads and desserts are delicious. Bendiciones
They got good food and fresh bread 🍞 and pastries 🍰 😋 …
Authentic Puerto Rican food. Always great service, price and flavor
Bread is great, sugar donuts amazing. I feel like I'm back in PR. The cooked food meh. But the service is fast and great. I appreciate that most.
I had never eaten Puerto Rican food before. Now, I can't stop.
Can't complain it's as authentic as you can get. From cake to conch salad, it is amazing. Highly recommend it.
woow, Very original boricuan bakery, el pan Sobao is the real deal, 100 recommended
It's OK, nothing big here. Some of the girls working there be a little cocky but there are a few nice polite girls also. Sometimes, the food be on point and something so salty.
Best service at all level.....
Great patties. Looks clean. Bakery seems popular but I have only tried a donut so far, which was good.
Best sandwiches you ever had, hands down
Not too many choices the day I was there but the fry food is always good.
Must watch what you order as the labels are not correct and since they are busy things don't come as you think they are. The food was extremely greasy.. but when u hungry you know how we do.
Love our culture ,love my Puerto Rican food ,nice and friendly place to go
Love their pastelillos! If you don't speak or read Spanish, I'd recommend looking at their menu on UberEATS to see an English version of their menu.
Fast service. Very tasty authentic Puerto Rican food and baked goods. It gets crowded so have time to wait when going. Food is definitely worth the wait and line moves swiftly.
Variety, delightful taste, employees courtesy.
El coqui need to put a business in Reading pa.. The spanish restaurants out here are not that good..one bakery and they don't have many varieties . Really should consider putting a restaurant here🙏🙏🙏 …
Great food, employees are very helpful and kind.
I love this place! And I especially love that I can Uber Eats you guys because I can no longer just walk up to your shop in my chanclas because I no longer live up the street, but I will always patronize your Restaurant 🖤! "Food is always amazing and well prepared!" …
The best bread and donuts in philly
The sandwiches here are great, specifically the Cubans. The pastries were okay, but the sandwiches are delicious. Another plus is that they have a giant parking lot that is a nice change from having to hunt for on street parking. I definitely recommend you come here for some delicious sandwiches. You will not regret it!
Very beautiful, delicious, moist, cake they did an amazing job and did not disappoint. Family and friends were very happy with the cake and cupcakes we ordered
The food is great but the service is lacking. They tend to start closing an hour early and will tell customers that there is no more food unless you check for yourself/want a sandwich.
*Update to 5 star*
Thankfully they are on Doordash now so that I don't have to deal with the lack of customer service! Whenever I place an order for pickup there's never anything missing or messed up. Food is consistent and delicious, but they run out of some items quick, like surollos. If you don't place the order before 10, they're likely sold out.
OMG- LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE! Authentic PR food! Rarely found now a days because even Freddy & Toni has NO Ricans cooking anymore. No no for me. LoL Everything here is yummy!!! The frituras are out of control dios mio so good! And their pastries are Amazing! Esos quesitos mmmmm 😊👌 …
Love this place I am from Maryland and this is my favor spot for down to earth Puerto Rican food can't wait to see you guys again
I been a faithful customer since their old location. But this location lately is very disorganized. They have 2 people in morning rush hour and then one has to attend the bread line, the phone and phone orders. At this point the line grows with one attendant. This place cooks good so they are making money. Hire more staff. One to handle bread line, two to serve. Management/Owner is grouchy in the morning you cant even get a smile. This is your business if you give horrible service your clients go else where. You are working with public a smile and good morning goes a long way.
Absolutely love there food and desserts
people of all colors and religion except Muslim s they serve alot of pork Best Puerto Rican food 👍 in Philly just get,s packed fast the prices are really good and fair arroz con abechela pernil pollo assiado and also sell 🍰🎂 🍓 cake flan temblece …
Great place to go and grab some food as well as awesome Spanish pastries and other great Spanish snacks.
I can’t wait for travel resto to be lifted and dining in is available again. I live 2 hours away and will definitely go back. The food is AWESOME! A reminder of home in Puerto Rico.
Good food, good service!!!
Food was fresh and ready. Love my Puerto Rican food!! 🥳🥳🥳 …
The dining is indoor. The food is so delish. The bakery is to die for. I luv their b-day cake so moist. The staff is friendly the wait is awesome.
It was nice, pastries are fresh food was good, but they took to long to serve pastries when there was three of them at the counter. But overall experience was goo girls were really friendly and she did acknowledge I was there waiting.
Please elaborate on how is Mofongo a Puerto Rican dish. Although it is good and I do enjoy it. Shouldn’t MONDONGO be highlighted on the menu? And for those who are not aware “yes” they are different.
Most delicious Puerto Rican food I've had. Courteous service
Went today grad some food , I often order thru the apps because the distance, food was great today , fast service going in to order.
I love the food but I wish El Coqui " restaurant and Bakery" were separated into two different buildings it is really, really too small in there. The (lines) are too long ,in fact they are so long that most of the time you reach the tables where people are trying to have their meal! if you are a person trying to eat your meal in there you will have people that are starving and staring at you while they wait for their chance to order. Next time I'm in there I will take a picture just to show the cramped quarters that they have.
The only spot my Puerto Rican wife is willing to get breakfast and pastries from. Go early on weekends because its limited seating. Food is prepared fresh and daily. Baking done on premises. Love this place.
Love eating there everything is good and very professional keep up the good work
Everything is always good, excellent service, is my to go place to get food in the morning, my daughter's are in love with their sorullos, they don't mind waking up early if we are going to El Coqui ❤ Love it!!!
With them is a hit or miss. Some days I’ll get deliciously fresh, soft bread. Other times I will get hard dry bread. I go early in the am. So don’t tell me about recently done.
Just came down from Reading to come here and eat with the family. The food is awesome taste full with flavor my cousin said best mofongo with chicken ever loved the food and the service it's like being in the island. Who said i need to go to Puerto Rico to eat like this.
Lets be honest here ,How come none of the reviews mention how over price and how small the portion are .I don’t care about the money or spending on food . But i cant help to notice how extremely expensive they are. If you go there with family or group get ready to spend.Even Porkys point and even freddys and tony are not that expensive . And portions are bigger.
Food is good ,but bakery is the best part authentic Puerto Rican cakes. Best cakes ever.
Clean bakery/fast food spot. Located next to a supermarket so parking is no problem here. They always have a line in the morning because the sorrullos are very popular. I tried the beef empanadas and the alcapurrias which were tasty, fresh, well seasoned. You can also order oatmeal and farina for breakfast along with many other breakfast dishes available. On the other half of this place, they sell cakes and Puerto Rican style pasteries that are amazing. The tembleque is my personal favorite. Highly recommend this place, but be prepared to wait in line, although they do move quickly.
Gotten alot better after they took out the nasty rude workers that used to be there before. But still pretty unorganized n slow in the mornings. They need to have 2 cashiers up front n two taking orders because their food is good and they get alot of customers. I feel bad when they running all over the place. Overall a good place to go
This restaurant has really good authentic Latin food...they're bakery is the best I 9nly buy birthday cake from them the cakes are moist and really dam good....It's a bit small so I'd rather not sit in and eat I personally always take out
Absolutely love this place. We order from work all the time. The prices are good, the food is delicious, service is clean and friendly. 100% recommend!
Top 10 Puerto Rican bakery/restaurant truly taste of Puerto Rico island food
Excellent Spanish food
Really should be 3.5 stars. Ordered ahead 3 cubanos, maduros, queso frito, went in 30 minutes later, and there was very little structure in the line. I waited maybe 10-11 minutes before interrupting and asking where the line for pick up was. They were all talking to their regular customers(which I understand). Took food back and for this area not the best maduros, or cubanos. Very average. place is really clean though, adn pastries looked amazing!
Food was greaaaaaat have no photos because I ate all 😁 ². Third places is awesome but you could call and order on jack (phone) 😆🐸🐸🐸 …
The best Puertorican restaurant..There food its so good..
Love the cake and the sandwiches!!!
(Update) But I went yesterday and the lady who take my order was so rude and her attitude was so nasty to me that I'm not going back never again
Dessert/pastries were very good. Sandwich bread was very fresh. Rice was delicious.
Delicious boricua food at a reasonable price. Another good thing that it has an in-house Bakery which is awesome, they also bake bread. One unique thing about the place that it has crab and shrimp pastelitos.
Love this place. From snacks, main dishes, to deserts, they have them all here. It's a homemade style place. Good customer services here too.
My family loves this cake ... My husband is not a cake eater and he orders cake from here at least once a month and my family makes me take the cake from philly to Lancaster,Pa ... Their cakes have even traveled to NYC with me ... Omg and their sugar cookies are to die for ... Actually everything is😍 …
Great food me and my daughter absolutely love the food highly recommend if you haven't been go
Good authentic puerto rican dishes I really go here for the puerto rican bakery Where I get my pastries and Fresh bread bread.. I don't give it the 5 stars and this is my personal opinion sometimes the place is To packed End either the service is a little slow or I'm just not big on waiting for fast food sometimes I walk out when is too packed Or I only get some small stuff not everything I want .All in all great place
The food is good...however, those ladies in there talk too much with each other and are not paying attention to the customers.. it's quite annoying to have to repeat yourself because they forget what you told them because they're too busy gossiping.
I love going there the food is great n the employees are so friendly
I come here whenever I get the chance their food and sweets are delicious 😋 …
This spot is official. If you’re in the mood for some good Puerto Rican dishes, this is the place to go check out. An old friend told me about it, and I finally got around to checking them out.
Always good food
The best mofongo ever! I don't buy it anywhere else! Their empanadas de cangrejo awesome as well!!! I must suggest a little more rice on the menu for lunch especially on Sunday's, there's not a lot to choose from. Other than that food is good! I love Frances very sweet girl and always understands my Spanglish! Lol
This is probably the best Puerto Rican food in the city. Pastelillos de carne y queso are incredible, and their vanilla flan and flan de queso are among the best I've ever had. Affordable and their bread and sandwiches are also great.
I'm African-American got tired of eating the same old food I work for Webster Elementary School Frankford and Ontario one of my coworkers she's Puerto Rican she told me where to get some good food I think it's called pots and Leto or cotton Leto I went in I tried it and also they had a nice Bakery all kinds of pastries I got the donut and some other pastry with powder on top of it very good the pots of lead so I got to lito wasn't greasy was real good customer service was real good I recommend this place to anyone that's looking for some different kind of food I gave some to my daughter she loved it today is Saturday the time is 7:10 what to get a pot to leave for the day but they're closed so I will be there tomorrow and Sunday to get some food keep up the good cooking
The food is good for the money and service is top-notch.
The cod fish, and alcapuria had no flavor.
Great food. Good customer service. I go there every other day. Need one person for bakery at all times.
Every time I visit this place I feel like being in a cafeteria in Caguas, PR or being in a small "come y vete" in Rio Piedras... I love it because it flavorful food makes me transport myself to the heart of my islita!!! I feel like being in any corner restaurant in la isla!! Great food, decent prices and a very nice service!
Very good Puerto Rican food but you have to get there early. The sells out fast and they they around 4:30- 5:00 pm.
Its a great restaurant with delicious food they follow protocol for caved 19 and the place is spotless. I give it a overall 10 👍 …
🌞Spectacu🌴ar Food Was Fantastic!!! Stopped by twice today for the first time. First glance of walking in instantly felt like, I was in Puerto Rico🇵🇷 but with to much clothing... Lol 🍹🍻 …

Good service, awesome food, fantastic tates and friendly staff. One guys gave me pan por la casa and i think that was great.
I love their food here. First time here and ill will be back for more. Waiting in line took forever, but it was worth it.
Always good food! A little but if a wait sometimes but it's worth it!
Love everything they sell to eat, they're friendly and place is clean. The line to order can get pretty long
Authentic Puerto Rican style home cook dishes. Prices are reasonable. Nice selection of pastries on premise!!
Always good when I go here food is good and customer service is good. Love that you can call and it's ready for when I pick up😉👍 …
Best Spanish food i ever had..my fiance is from PR and says it's like grandmoms dinner lol...def 5 stars easy hands down
Foods ok , the wait for a breakfast sandwich is too long. And the breakfast sandwich are small for the price. Pastries are great. I'd stick to the pastries.
I love this place! The food is phenomenal! The one and only downside is their hours. They're always open different hours and the hours listed on Google are incorrect. Inconsistent hours :(
The food is very fresh, and they are generous with their portions...The best Puerto Rican food ever 😊😊😊 …
My first time ever and i had to go back again 2 in one day good parking space and the best food and pastries everrrr
