Reviews of Pao Da Terra LLC
Pao Da Terra is one of my favorite bakeries in New Jersey, they have a great selection of bakery and lunch menu. I love their coffee!! the tables are always clean. I love the Portuguese vibes in this place!!!
Cozy place for Portuguese food. Everything is delicious from sweets to omelette and full breakfast. Have tried it all and tastes are really good. The ladies service and owner are very kind. A great addition to the community.
Tasting sweets, codfish pastries and juices. Was good but the place lacked in cleaniness and customer service. The place was not being kept up, and i only saw 2 ppl working behind the counter. But they ignored the customers while running around somewhat busy. They could had smiled or said something. When it got to our turn, after was like a yelling match bc they couldn't hear us or understand us. Even thou i spoke fluent Portuguese, they spoke Spanish. And NO, Portuguese isn't the same as Spanish or vice versa. I had to switch to Spanish so they could understand us. The place is Portuguese, had a Portuguese flag, but staff won't understand Portuguese or English. Could b better service and cleaniness.
Stuff was really good, the girls provide your food direcly to your table, fresh capuchino coffee , pastries , coxinha, risole etc..
the pao de agua was delicious with a melted cheese.
And we can have many , many options.
the owner is a a very friendly and happy lady, keep the good business!!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Order their large 'bolo de bolacha' and it was everything that I wanted!! Delicious and sumptuous!
As someone born and raised in Portugal 'Pão de Terra' is as close as you get to experience Portugal! I drive from Philadelphia to Newark to get their desserts.
Side note on the large 'bolo de bolacha': As I was driving back to Philadelphia, I had to make a hard brake because of a fast changing traffic light... From 55mph to 0, the cake box flies from the backseat into the back of my seat, and it survived all in one piece! Incredible!, never seen a cake that could withstand something like that. Just had a little indentation on one side.
Update: Ordered 3 cakes that were going to be for the celebration of 3 birthdays. Once again the quality of the cakes was outstanding and they were still fresh after 2 days of being in my fridge (I blocked any air from getting out of the boxes with tape and put them inside big ziplock bags).
See pictures of the cakes 2 days, 02Nov2021, after I picked them up.
It was my second time ordering cake here. Picked up my second cake yesterday. It was soooooo delicious!!!! Everybody loved it! Thank you very much 🙏🙏🙏🙏
P.s. I also buy other desserts here lately. Everything is soooo delicious 🤤
Update: just bought delicious cake here again, my favorite. Soooo good. I'm adding pic of it...
The galão, (coffee and milk) was hot, perfect for a cold winter day.
I also enjoyed their bolinho de bacalhau, (codfish savory hors d'oeuvre) and the pastel de nata, (a delicious famously Portuguese egg custard pastry.) All in all it was a nice experience, just what I wanted at that time. The service was nice and friendly.
Nice and cozy place staff is very friendly 😊 didn't stay long but had a good time. And let's talk about the sweet 😋 treats so many varieties and all look sooo good. I had a hot chocolate with almond croissant. Will definitely go back . …
Sometimes you just feel like a buttered roll and a cup of coffee so it'd be ridiculous to wait in line for an hour at the place across the street for that. Pao Da Terra is a good place to meet folks, or you can relax with a great pastel de nata, galao, bolinho de bacalhau in this friendly, casual Portuguese bakery.
This place does a hopping business with good coffee and delicious pastries. The service is fast and friendly, always on point. The pastries are dangerously good.
I visited Pao Da Terra for breakfast at a recommendation of a close friend and it was totally worth it. It is a Portuguese bakery with the best tasting cappuccino, freshly squeezed orange juice and a huge variety of pastries and savory breakfast items.
The breads were freshly baked but I did not order them. I still can't pronounce all the items we had except for empanadas and panko chicken, ask the counter staff for the chicken pastry which is freshly baked.
The staff was very patient and helpful, very smartly dressed unlike the over priced coffee bucks places.
The money spent stays in the community and I felt supporting a local business.
Worth making a trip from where ever you are from the Tri State area.
The food here is actually good, however, the employees are rude, the service is not good and it seeks like the employees are only nice when the owner is around.
Also, portuguese church music is not what I look for when you go to have breakfast...
This is just my honest opinion.
Update 7-24-2021
The customer service has improved a lot, special on weekeends. During the week there's still a short lady with a very bad attitude that seems like she doesn't want to be there.
Amazing bakery. Takes me right back to Portugal while vacationing there. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
Got the custard pastries and they were amazing. They also make a great double espresso.
Authentic Portuguese bakery. Egg tart is not too sweet but flavorful crust is just right crunch and chewiness towards bottom center.
You should not miss this place if you are in Newark. IT’S THE CLOSEST YOU WILL EVER FEEL TO BEING AT A BAKERY IN PORTUGAL. You should not leave without trying their pastéis the nata. They also offer fresh orange juice and a variety of fresh Portuguese breads. Want more food ideas? Visit me @foodvivant on Instagram
Portugal outside of Portugal.
Always great. Good food, great coffee.
Great cappuccino, pastel de nata wasn't that good. Overly sweet and not crunchy.
Stopped in bc this is the ONLY place in Newark that had plugs to charge your dying phone lol. They don't speak good English so if you don't know Spanish good luck. I ordered 1 coffee it was ok
Very good bread and delicious pastries. Always fresh 😊 …
A lot of pastry and deli sandwiches including salads to choose from but the line up is a different topic. Just be ready especially on the weekends to have enough patience if you want any item from them. On a weekday it's a hit or miss lining up. Overall the food is good but a bit pricey compared to other bakeries. Coffee is good though 🙂
Grande place to have your family and friends for a Português Break Fast , great pastry, great service too , my favorite place.
Good strong coffee or galão as the Portuguese call it. Very good pastries, and fast service! Their plain toasted bread with butter is delicious.
Love their beef empanadas and sweets, just the line to order/pick up is sometimes slow because it's a small place, I hope they get better at it.
Yum!!! Get the beef and chicken empanadas!!
Amazing bakery. The best natas 💖 …
It's usually very crowded on a lunch schedule but the staff is friendly and nice. The desserts are good too! It may seem scary at first since everyone is speaking Portuguese but they do cater to English and Spanish even (with some help).
14⭐️
Best bread ever pan de água
Great pastries
Coffee is good
Great service
I had the pastéis de nata (Portuguese egg custard tarts) and one of their lemon meringue pies. The egg tarts were still warm, the pastry was flaky and crisp, and they disappeared into me far quicker than I might have expected -- they were so delicious. I also took home a lemon meringue tart, and that was pretty good too.
It was pretty busy and the line moved a little slow though, with only one register. .
Their bread is very fresh and the servers are nice. They’re chicken empanadas are delicious. Their cheese empanadas could use some more cheese.
Being portuguese this is definatly a place where you can get you fix of a portuguese cafe. But do not expect efficiency or good service. The staff takes your order and you get no receipt or confirmation of your payment. Then when your order is ready they wander around asking "did you order so and so, etc". Completely inefficient and doesn't lend itself to a comfy atmosphere.
Did breakfast, pretty decent, but, $15 per person, ridiculously expensive.
The coffee is fresh and delicious. The pastries are excellent and they have endless types to choose from. Only downside is that the wait time can’t be long specially on weekends.
This bakery is by far the best in Iron bound. The bread and pastries are over the top ,also the girls taking care of customers are very nice and helpful
Excellent bakery! The pasteis de nata are as good as any that you'll find in Lisbon. A wide variety of other baked goods and great coffee make this the perfect stop on Ferry Street in between shopping. Of course you can also grab a few things to take home and you'll be glad you did. Definitely recommended.
Amazing bakery and pastry shop. Everything is made in this place, but I'll mention Pão de Agua and the croissants are just sublime! Staff and owners are very friendly and prices are reasonable. The best of Portugal in this small place. Totally recomend it!
My first time here but definetly not my last. The espresso was great, the empanada perfect and the egg cup with apple amazing!! I'll be back soon!
I enjoyed my experience! Thank you!
The people that works there is very friendly they speak Spanish but they are very court'sy their food is just OK I saw pastry sweets and you have a choice to either have something to drink like hot beverages and cold beverages where you could sit down indoor and relax unwind and talk to your friends and family
Great food and great customer service even tho it's a busy place there was seating available for 2 at least👍🏽Also there are just so many options on display that I really wanted to try them all but it will have to be another day😊 …
Friendly, authentic, and wonderfully fresh. Very large variety of breads and pastries. Feels just like our favorite bakery in Lisboa. Wonderful!
Great pastries but hard to know what each item is and their prices. There was no menu or tag in the display case to describe what each item was
Amazing bakery they have really good desserts. If definitely go back. Very reasonably priced as well.
It's a good and traditional Portuguese bakery. You can get an inexpensive coffee with steamed milk here and delicious pastries.
Good food, nice staff clean and comfortable.
I like the pao de agua with ham and cheese, hot, and the baba de camelo it is soooooo good I can never get enough of it,so delicious, and everything is so delicious, the cofee with cream doesnt even need sugar, the staff is allways polide and helpfull.
Coffee is always top notch. Pastries are good and the place is clean with a very friendly staff. Never waiting long. What more can you ask for??
Good pastry but always incredibly slow service given how many employees are present.
Love the food, but it gets a little confusing when it's crowded because it's such a cozy little spot. Don't come in a hurry, it's a great place to just relax and chat with a friend or read the paper.
I love this places, the employees, their “pão de água” is amazing !!
Unbeatable bread, fantastic coffee, service is good but the lines are similar to DMV.
The home made bread is great.
Old fashion way in Portugal.
Friendly, busy café/bakery that serves authentic Portuguese light fare and baked goods. Highly recommend.
First time here. Really good desserts. Ice coffee was good too. Taste fresh.
Great variety of baked goods. Delicious Portuguese breads
Wonderful pastry and good fresh bread I love that place( little expensive) but it's okay
Everything you find is always made with taste and catering to customers. Fresh, cleaneliness and great place to be.
Great selection of pastries. I usually go for the prepared hot foods of Portuguese/Brazilian influence.
Portuguese bakery 🥯 , European style ,coffee, must try pastel de nata …
Great cafe with a wide variety of fresh bakery items.
Good breakfast, small portions good deserts, the only downside is the line. Place is always full.
Great portuguese bakery. Can be a bit crowded but worth it!
Food was delicious

Absolutely love this place. I’ve been coming here since they first opened. I live for their pão de água with ham, egg and cheese and their amazing galão (Portuguese Capuccino). Everything tastes fresh and authentic.
(Translation) For me, it's the best bakery I know in the USA, even though I'm Portuguese, it's the one that reminds me of Brazil... (Sorry when I say Brazil I mean the capital of São Paulo where the best bakeries are Portuguese there cheese bread is not our strong point lol thank you). The dream is incredibly delicious

(Translation) True Portuguese Hospitality, something that is so unique to us and at the same time so natural, on Ferry Street, in Newark. Friendly staff, clean space, well decorated and welcoming. The pastry window is to die for...for more! The tasty Mixed toast on Pão d'Água is another reason why I'll be back there. From a very Portuguese soup to the Rice Cake, this house and whoever serves it is the best way to be in Portugal, even so far from Portugal. My sincere thanks to Raquel for her friendliness !!
