Great flavors! Took it to go and the wow tart is definitely my favorite and I'd come back for it. The cream puff is filled with ooey goodness. I personally do not like the texture or flavor of a bouncy cheesecake, but if you're doing to try it, this is the place. No slices offered, so get some friends or loved ones to share a cake with you...but no judgment if you eat it on your own!

The cream puffs were absolutely incredible. Do yourself a favor and try all of them bc there are worth it!! The cream was delicious and unlike many places, they were very generous with it (make sure to get some napkins). The staff was also nice. We didn’t try the cheesecake but will definitely come back to try it. I also want to try the Basque cheesecake. Edit: the original cheesecake is a must!! It’s not too sweet, just the perfect level of sweetness- you can finish your piece without feeling like you just had a sugar overload. Just the ideal dessert.

I heard about this place and knew I HAD to try it. The shop is small, cozy, and has the most delicious aroma the moment you walk in. The service was fast and it's definitely a popular place, so expect a line. The cake tasted like I was blessed by the heavens above. I highly recommend coming here, but they do sell out, so make sure you come at a good time!

The cream puffs were out of this world! The crumbly exterior had a nice crunch bite, accompanied by a soft interior dough that intermingled with the soft, voluminous, and fluffy whipped cream. The original bouncy cheesecake had such a nice texture when chewing, the softness and the airyness that gets whipped in combined with it not being too sweet allows you to enjoy the whole thing in an ensemble.

Delicious! The store smells sooo good. The creme puffs were deliciously smooth and creamy without being overly sweet or dense. I could eat all three myself without feeling total garbage. My favorite was the Ube one, but the milk and Oreo ones were super good as well! Look at all that filling 🤯

Very good modern take on cheesecake. Unfortunately, it is not sold in single serve sizes, which would be nice. I liked it better fresh the first day because it is slightly warm and has a bit of a soufflé taste. You have to store it in the refrigerator and interestingly the taste was different once cold. It then tasted more like a traditional cheesecake.

Came for the cream puff but also brought home their cheesecake! I’ve been at Keki in ktown back in 2019 to try the ube bouncy cheesecake however at that time, i found it to be just okay. Now that i saw they had Ube cream puffs and the Pride cream puffs, i decided to revisit again. This time though I was in chinatown. They did not have the Pride puffs available but they did have the ube. It was delicious! Not every shop that offer ube can bring about ube flavor nicely as it is very subtle but they did a great job with it here at Keki. Filling was smooth, mildly sweet but you can definitely get that beautiful ube flavor. The milk cream puff was delicious too. Unfortunately, the pistachio came off with a stronger flavor so it tastes artificial. I’d most likely skip that next time. I passed on getting the bouncy cheesecake this time and ended up choosing their original basque burnt cheesecake! Best decision made that day! The cheesecake was delicious! Creamy but with that “cheesecakey body”, nicely sweetened, soft and smooth. This cake was gone so quick as soon as it reached home! Glad we tried that one out and would love getting another one next time!

The original bouncy cheesecake is a family favorite! For $14, it's an excellent price and it's perfect for our family of four- loved by the seniors and the millennials alike! Soft and not too sweet- perfect for celebrations or just an everyday treat!

Had an original bouncy cheesecake. Ate it 10 minutes after buying, was surprised to see steam rise as I cut into it; it was warm but not hot. It did indeed have a satisfying jiggle. Super fluffy, maybe like a cross between typical cheesecake and bread pudding? The flavor was mild, not as sweet as the type of desserts I typically go for, but the texture made it interesting enough that I'd consider it a must-try item.

Some of the best desserts I’ve ever tasted. The bouncy original cheesecake is divine! It’s not too sweet and the texture is like a fluffier cheesecake that melts in your mouth. We also got the Cream Puffs and to say they are AMAZING is an understatement. Our favorite was the Cookies & Cream, and then the Milk flavor, Ube, and our least favorite was the Pistachio, which was still really good. The only thing to know before you visit is that there is no seating to eat these amazing desserts. Other than that, literally perfection!

You know this place will be delicious just from the smell when you walk in. We ordered the original bouncy cheesecake and it was so fluffy and perfectly airy and sweet. They had many ready to go and ours was still warm when we ate it. It’s not sold in slices but we ate up the cake easily.

I got a bouncy cheesecake to go. Flavor was good, but not very bouncy. Plenty of cheese smell and a bit of sweetness. Store seemed small but clean. Decent but not sure I'd go out of my way to get one in the future

I tried this spot for the first time this past weekend and I was NOT disappointed! I tried their original bouncy cheesecake along with one of EACH of their cream/custard puffs. The cheesecake was light and not overly sweet, and just perfectly delicious. My favorite creampuffs were the milk, cookies and cream and ube. The fresh cream was amazing! I can't wait to visit Chinatown in New York again because this spot will definitely be on my list of stops!

I walked all over China Town to find this place. When you walk into the small store you are hot with the most amazing aroma of chesse cake ans sweets.. Tasty and fun treat when needing to fulfill that sweet craving..it tastes exactly as it looks.. super fast service hot and fresh ...fluffy cake that will satisfy the cheesecake craving. Omg this is the best cheesecake I’ve ever had! Not only was it buttery and soft, it melted in my mouth. It also bounced the way it is supposed to. I finished the whole cheesecake in 5 minutes. They make it fresh so you can enjoy it hot as soon as you buy! 💯 recommend! Edit as of October 23, 2022: Tried the Ube cream puff and had to get the original bouncy cheesecake again. I love it and will keep coming back every year for Keki Modern Cakes 😍😍😋

I had the bouncy cheesecake which was very interesting and delicious. The low rating is due to the fact the portions are huge and there isn’t a normal portion for one person unfortunately. This ends up in so much waste for travellers.

The place is really small. There was only cream puffs and the Japanese bouncy cake for sale. The cream puffs were really yummy. Comes in this cute box so the puffs don’t get squished. Must eat cold though. When the cream warms, it tastes weird. The bouncy cake is yummy too! The pistachio cream puff was not in season yet, looking forward to trying that.

These light, creamy, soft, cookie crusted puffs are filled with fresh whipped cream and come in a variety of different flavors!!!! PICTURED: 🍪COOKIES & CREAM 🍀PISTACHIO 🥛MILK I tried three different flavors, and all of them had such a unique flavor, similar to a donut but so much softer. And another thing I liked about these puffs was that the cream filling was fresh and they weren’t soggy which entails how well they were prepared. Out of all three, my favorite had to be the cookies n cream. If you’re in the mood for something light and sweet, you’d definitely want to try these cream puffs from Keki Modern Cakes

The texture is so fluffy, moist, and creamy! It’s like nothing I’ve ever had before… the flavor however was very bland and had a subtle but noticeable egg-like taste. This was the “original” so maybe that’s why it was a little disappointing flavor wise. I think I should’ve opted for the “cheesecake”.

AMAZING bouncy cheesecake - get it fresh & hot out of the oven. It's worth the wait (I had to wait 10 min). They ran out of the Wow Tart by the time we got there (6 pm on a Thursday). We tried the pistachio cream puff and thought the filling tasted a little off - couldn't figure out why. However, that bouncy cheesecake (classic flavor) is absolutely worth coming back. Everyone loved it.

I've ordered the green tea fancy cheesecake and bouncy cheesecakes at Keki Modern Cakes throughout the years, but most recently, we decided to try something different. We went for a cookies and cream fancy cheesecake ($40), as well as 3 cream puffs (3 for $10, or $4 individually). They only had pistachio, cookies+cream, and ube cream puffs left when we ordered on Feb 6, so we got one of each. At first, we thought the pistachio cream puff was green tea, so when we bit into it, we were surprised. It wasn't a crowd favorite, but the cookies+cream and ube cream puffs were A+++. Highly recommend those two flavors. Next time, would love to try the milk cream puff! The cookies and cream fancy cheesecake was A+++ as well. We kept it in the freezer and took it out to thaw about 2-3 hours before we wanted to eat it. Although it sure tasted like ice cream, it wasn't. Delicious either way! The layers consisted of cheesecake, cookies, and cookie mousse. We couldn't stop eating it!

This a great little joint in Chinatown. The staff is super efficient and helpful. They helped my wife and I with a catering order. Everything was fresh, packed, and ready to go. I love their little wow tarts. I could eat a box of these. I found the easiest way to eat these is to just pop them in whole in one bite.

First time buying cheese cake from this establishment after reading tons of reviews decided to be the judge myself. We tried the Ube and the Matcha cheesecake which was exclusive for the week, so had to give it a go. It was good and not sweet and rich such as traditional American cheesecake. Cheese cake is also fluffy so will try other flavors and their fancy cheese cake in the future.

I came here on a Sunday afternoon hoping to try out various desserts but most of them were gone so I settlers on ordering the Bouncy Cheesecake (to go). The cheesecake is perfect. Light, airy, and not too sweet. I can see why this cake is a hit. The texture is a mix between marshmallow and cheesecake. The cheesecake flavor is spot on but so much less heavy feeling. I definitely plan to try other items when I am back in Chinatown.

My favorite is their WOW tart. But I prefer the cookie crust of BAKE (Keki’s crust is a Danish/puff pastry) - the filling at Keki is better - it’s a mix of cream cheese and mascarpone. But they should do better with the pastry crust - it tastes like cheap, supermarket frozen pastry. Not a fan of their cotton cheesecake as I prefer my cheesecake creamy and not floury-tasting

To be quite honest, their cheesecake is not my favorite but also because I don't disgusts cheesecake well to be rational. But today, I bought their yuzu glazed cheesecake via recommendation by a staff; omgosh it is not only so simple pretty looking but good. As a reviewer mentioned this is heavier and leans more towards Western cheesecake, not airy but not dense either. The citrus flavor really shines here. Their price can seem a bit higher for this area but they are also using quality ingredients. I try to support Chinatown during these dark days, Manhattan CT is the original heart of the Asian community, so many cultures ancestors depended on communities like Chinatown, Flushing, Little Italy, Sunset Brooklyn, Arthur Avenue....to survive immigrating to a new country. So, I shop local and CT whenever and can. And this stop was definitely a win.

The bouncy cheesecakes are--for lack of a better description--very fluffy, light and almost delicate in taste. They're good and I think kind of perfect for breakfast but if you're looking for a more traditional cheesecake you should order their "fancy" kinds which come in different flavors but are also three times more expensive than their bouncy counterparts. If you don't want to commit to a whole cake you must try their deliciously cream filled wow tarts. Note that you can't really eat there and that you will be taking your stuff to go.

Went to snatch a piece of cake, however when I got there I took 1 whole taiwanese sponge cake and a Castella keki creamwhich. Although it wasn't as jiggly as I thought, it was very fluffy and tasty. Discovered this little bakery, specializing in Japanese cheesecakes..... They have 2 types, with the higher priced one being a combination of cheesecake, sponge, & crepe layers. Very tasty, and prices are not outrageous.

Came here after work, no line. The service was quick and friendly. Scored a cheese soufflé cake, it was definitely light and fluffy. More eggy than cheesy in terms of flavor. Will come back to try the other cakes. Edited: Prefer the green cake over the cheese soufflé cake. It was a lightly sweetened cake which balanced the bitterness of matcha.

Hype around the jiggly has given this place an almost mythical aura and after dodging the long lines by showing up before their 10 am open I walked away with both Original and Ube Bouncy Cheesecakes in hand. I watched several of these aromatic, flavor discs come out of the oven wiggling and lively as they were transferred into their resting cubes. These desserts, meant for Thanksgiving, had to remain in my possession refrigerated and unmolested for 2 days. The chill will kill the bounce. LifeProTip: 8-10 minutes in the oven at 250-275° F will reawaken bounciness. Do not make the mistake of cold, unbouncy cake like I did. When jiggly, the taste is akin to a religious experience.

First NYC store to take on Japanese style cheesecake. It was a bit bouncy but only tasted alright since it was more cake taste than cheesecake. Uncle Tetsu's in Toronto was much better and cheaper too though it was a bit smaller than Keki. I would come back to try their other goodies but wouldn't get their Bouncy again.

8.13.17 - not a bad spot with a good product, albeit it seems a little pricey. I guess it's good to have a mix of 'higher-end' baked goods in Chinatown, but who is the primary market? The cake is spongy and not too sweet. Their tart/custard look interesting, but for $5 a pop I was a little surprised so I took a pass for now. I believe I was expecting something around the $3 range especially since it's located in Chinatown despite the obvious look of an artisanal bakery with packaging.

I have first seen one of these puffs on Instagram and immediately had to follow them, see what else they have, and of course, try it. So I bought 3 of these- they sell at 3 for $10 or $4 each. I got 2 puffs- Ubo and Pistachio, and a tart. They also have Cookies n Cream puff and Milk puff. I loved the tart. It was like a creamy, bit different cheesecake, but not a cheesecake. Flavor was great, sweet but not too sweet. I then tried the Ubo puff. Also very delicious. Less sweet than the tart, a lot of filling, I loved it. Then I tried the Pistachio puff. I did not like that one as much, and for next time I will probably opt out of pistachio and try milk. I normally love pistachio but the cream filling wasn't my taste. Overall the place was great, very small, mostly for take out. Their cakes looked great, a little on the expensive side. Too bad they did not sell cakes by the slice.

Wanted to try this cake when in NYC and did! Tried both, the fluffy cheesecake and WOW tart. The cheesecake wasn’t bouncy as advertised, but tasted good. Not too sweet nor very cheesy, just the way I like! Wow tart tasted just ok, but way too pricey and nothing special. Just a regular tart with cheese. I’ve had amazing tarts elsewhere. Not sure if I’d come back, just wanted to experience it. Over priced! May be i will when there are more items on the menu.

Super fluffy cheesecakes made Japanese style. This place is not too expensive for a shareable cake. They have a few different cakes but would say the cheesecake is the best. It comes in a nice little box. Sometimes there could be a line out the door.

I tried the bouncy cheesecake twice, once from each branch (Korea Town and China town) they are both really good and really fluffy. Taste is not egg-like unlike what some said (only a very faint hint, wouldn't even notice it). You can tell it's a cheesecake but it's not a heavy one. I would say good for 4 or 5 people - making it a great price for such a delicious cake.

If you have never had these cream puffs and you're in New York, you are missing out! We had the milk puff, the Ube puff, and the Wow tart and I have to say that I have never been more impressed with a cream puff in my life. They aren't overly sweet and the pastry was perfectly flaky. Had the fluffy cheesecake for $10. First time having a Japanese style cake. Not even close to sweet like the NY style (completely different and can't be compared). It has a distinct egg flavor crossed with cream cheese, and a perfect fluffy, light texture almost like a whipped egg white (not like the heavy, cream cheese texture of NY style). Def worth a try, and I love it! Just because it's called "cheesecake" you should clear out of your mind any expectation that it will be like NY style cheesecake.

Super light, fluffy, and delicious tasting Japanese souffle cheesecake! I know in NYC, cheesecake it a big deal, it has to be dense and it has to have a tasty graham cracker crust. Well the cheesecake at Keki has none of those criteria, instead it meet the standard for the Japanese souffle cheesecake you will find in Japan! Light, airy, soft, and packed with flavor. So delicious! Definitely come a try a slice, but I'd recommend getting a whole one cause you know you will want more than one slice after the first bite. Now I don't know if this is always the case, but last time when I bought a whole cake, it was super fresh and still warm! That was the best! The shop is quite small and there isn't a place to sit to eat your cake. It's more of a shop and go kind of place. They also sell cheese tarts there, and my recommendation is to skip them, I did not enjoy it at all, it was much too liquidy, and just wasn't the same as the one i had in Osaka.

Awesome I picked up 2 cheese cakes last night for a family party on Saturday. My niece told me about this place. So got home and had to try them and all I can say is wow. They were very light and fluffy and tasted fresh and not heavy on the stomach. Will be going back. Call ahead to place an order they will only hold the order for 10 minutes after the time you're going to pick up so don't be late. They sell out fast and made fresh.

This place is worth a stop in you're in Chinatown. I got the famous bouncy cheesecake. For $14 it's a lot of cake! Me and my girlfriend could not finish it. It's good it's like a spongy, warm moist cheesecake and I loved taking in the scenery in Chinatown. It feels like you're in Hong Kong right in New York City! I just wished you could sit in but it's a small spot.

The Yuzu Basque Cheesecake was the best cheesecake I’ve ever had in my life. My husband and I walked past a couple days ago, it smelled amazing and we couldn’t resist. After looking at the menu, the Yuzu Basque Cheesecake seemed super interesting, but it was quite expensive for us at $31. We decided to do it anyway - and it was worth every penny. I’d totally get it again. It was caramelized on the outside, super moist on the inside, dense but also fluffy, very well balanced. The Yuzu (Japanese citrus fruit) sauce was delicious and complemented the cheesecake very well, and great balance of sweetness and tangy flavor. Took us a couple days to finish it. I would totally buy it again in a heartbeat. Sorry didn’t get a photo before cutting into it! By the way Basque is a region that straddles the boarder of Spain and France.

My partner got a green tea cheese cake here for me on my birthday a few months ago and we both loved it!! He was raving about it since then and said he wanted to go back, so I got him one for his birthday too. While I was there, I wanted to sample some of the other goodies, which were all amazing! The employees here are very kind, friendly, and passionate about the products they are selling. Even the packaging is simple, beautiful and kept everything secure for my train ride home. Excellent cakes! They specialize in Japanese style cheesecake, which is bouncy and very airy - think souffle/sponge cake but better. Price is very reasonable in my opinion, I believe it’s $12 for a cake (which can easily be shared between a few people.... or eaten by yourself). My friend and I devoured a single cake together in one sitting. The WOW tart is also delicious as well. Service is quick and friendly. Highly recommend!

This new cake shop just opened in Chinatown and already fans cuing up to get a piece of it. The small shop sell Japanese version of sponge cake. It is light, slightly chewy and slightly sweet. The portions are relatively large for the price which isn't cheap but isn't over pricey. It is big enough so that the $9 price tag can be rationally justified. It comes a nicely package carry container and if the cake make it home if you haven't eaten already on the way there.

We bought a cheesecake and a "Castella" sponge cake to take home for dinner. The cakes were on offer because the store is celebrating an anniversary, so we paid roughly $13 and $10 for each, respectively. We would not have bought either one at their regular price (which comes close to $35 for a (rather small) regular cheesecake, and more for the flavored options). The cakes left us unimpressed. The cheesecake was not very fluffy and not "jiggly" as they promised. The sponge cake had a good texture but was almost completely devoid of flavor. You can get sponge cake like that in many Chinatown bakeries for less than $1 a slice. I doubt that we would go back.

The cakes are so fresh and delicious. They're constantly making cakes and you'll never get a stale one. I had a Bouncy Cheesecake and ate it while it was still warm. I guess it's always better to eat baked items fresh, but this is on another level. I had some leftovers the next day and it tasted almost like a regular cheesecake. I've also tried the Castella cakes and they're very light and eggy tasting also. I just wished they still sold the Matcha Flavor ones.

So trying to show your guests why its called a “bouncy” cake doesn’t really do itself justice when its like a rock when you try to shake it for them, as they do in the window when they just come fresh hot out of the oven lol

These cakes are extremely delicate and cannot last a few hours, I think, because the last time I had one, it had turned into a regular cheesecake. But, besides that, the cakes are normally super fluffy, somewhat jiggly, with a mild cheese flavor that is quite tasty! The castella tastes like an ordinary spongecake which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I wish they would serve the cheesecakes in mini form so I could eat whole one and not feel guilty. Keki, you guys should consider adding some taro or greentea flavors, maybe a flavored cream for the cakes...mmmmm.

Keki Cakes is a store I encountered for the first time while visiting night markets in Taipei. The popular experience there is watching them slice the giant sponge cake. In NYC, the emphasis is on the bouncy cheesekeki (cake). The pumpkin bouncy and other flavored bouncy cakes do not appeal to me because they look less bouncy. Otherwise, the bouncy cheesekeki is a perfect, sharable treat to bring to a housewarming, a Game of Thrones viewing, dinner party, etc. It's not super customizable for a birthday. The bouncy-ness is impressive, and the mild cheese flavor and perfect level of creaminess are appreciated. The store is really small, essentially only appropriate space for a line, though there is a counter for trying the cakes in store. There isn't a restroom. The staff are kind and will hold cakes for you. Cakes are baked fresh throughout the day.

It was a amazing experience getting my first jiggly cheese cake I've craved for the taste I've never even tried before and once I actually had the chance to eat my first cake I had to walk out with 3 more right before closing and I can tell you that so many people was upset that they not had a chance to get there own lol worthy of every penny I hope the business remains bless, if that was not enough then it's definitely worth every penny

The cakes are a little pricey but they’re very soft and airy! They’re not very sweet like other cheesecakes; they’re very light. Almost like the light sweetness of a Chinese bakery sponge cake. We got a small bouncy cheesecake, which was good for 6 people. It wiggled and tasted great! They have other flavors like matcha and ube. Looking forward to going back to try them!
