Ordered a King cake for the office since it was one of my coworker's birthdays. Everyone raved about how good it was! It was one of the best I've ever had. I definitely recommend getting the parade kit where you get to decorate it yourself when it arrives. It arrived quickly and in perfect condition. It was so fresh, and I plan to order from them next year. I hate I couldn't be in New Orleans during King Cake season, but Caluda's made me feel like I was there.

So, so good. I appreciate the icing and sprinkles were packaged separately so when it arrived we could decorate the cake! That way there was no mess and no damage during shipping! Wished I’d have a taken a photo, but the cake didn’t last long…

Caluda's King Cake is king! I love that their dough holds up to the icing, so you don't end up with those soggy pieces, and they use granulated sugar on their traditional, not wax sprinkles like some competitors. They do some wild flavors each week leading up to Mardi Gras, and offer a daily selection of traditional and filled cakes. No matter what you pick, you won't be disappointed!

Can be dry and skimpy on filling. Their dough recipe is identical to the Randazzos king cakes but the icing is different. It’s overly sweet and gives everyone heartburn. I noticed their icing is not placed all over the king cake so maybe that’s why it dries out so quickly but if you had any more of that icing it would be too much. It’s an ok alternative if you don’t want to stand in long lines at Manny’s or drive to Slidell but their item’s definitely seem mass produced. If they had better icing recipe they would top tier with the others.

I don’t know where to start, the good or the bad. I’m a fan of Caluda’s King Cakes, particularly the cream cheese and the praline/cream cheese. I bought a praline/cream cheese king cake today and it was amazing, just as expected. It was very fresh and moist. I also bought the flavor of the week, chocolate chip cookie dough. It was a huge disappointment, just a big conglomerate of bread with hardly any cookie dough to be found. When I was finally able to find some cookie dough, it tasted like chocolate only. I didn’t get any hint of cookie dough. It also was a bit dry. After today, I think I’ll pass on trying any more flavors of week and stick to what I know is good.

I started getting their King Cakes last year at Costco in Lafayette. I moved out of state and was craving one. The one I received was just like if not better than the one in the store. The icing on the side is great too! Just the cure for being homesick.

Well, it's a good cake. But it's not that surprisingly an outstanding cake. We've found that the king's cake was below our first expectations. It is suitable for the people who like the lemony taste more than a pure sugary taste.

Love the cakes and now that we don’t live in town we order king cakes regularly from local NOLA bakery’s. Caluda’s has a very good king cake and have always like them. When we ordered two cakes this time I decided to pay the extra money (I think I was like $5) for the Mardi Gras package which is 3 beads, 2 doubloons, wooden coin, and a plastic cup all of which have their logo / advertisement on. This is just facts, what I have a problem with is them smashing the cup in the cake. So I paid extra for their advertisement to smash the middle of my cakes..... Boooo! See Photos. Do yourself a favor if you’re ordering from out of town, pass on the extra whatever and just get the cake. I know next time I will. Update: 1/24/19 Thanks for review your process, those of us who don’t have easy access to the “Goods” appreciate it. Who Dat!

Absolutely LOVE Caluda’s for king cakes!! I am from NOLA and have tried other bakeries for shipping king cakes. By far the best experience I have had has been with Caluda’s. Fresh, quality ingredients, packaged with care, great communication with their customers. We send multiple shipments every year to our out of state friends and they have become fans as well. It’s no wonder this place was recommended to me by a NOLA 5-star chef! Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great king cake!

I ordered the cake from Oakland CA. I kept my expectations low as it was being shipped cross country. My husband wanted the strawberry cream filled cake. The cake arrived with the frosting and sugar in the side. We decorated ourselves which was way better as we controlled the amount of frosting. The frost was delicious! I had it on toast the next morning. The cake arrived as stated and it was delicious. Our guests are every last piece. Many compliments from Nola natives and first time king cake eaters. I would definitely order a cake from Claudia’s again. Great value and delicious cake!

I have ordered king cakes for years from another notorious bakery in NOLA. That place was sold out which led me to Caluda’s. This king cake traveled all the way to Raleigh, NC and exceeded my expectations. There was very slight melting of the icing which was my delivery driver’s fault for setting it in the sun. Nonetheless, best king cake I have ordered from New Orleans. Fluffy, fresh, and delicious! Caluda’s is my new go-to!

I've had Caluda's before and always enjoy their king cakes. This year I sent 1 to a friend in Virginia who's never had one. They didn't know what to expect. They were excited when it arrived and said it was outstanding. They got to enjoy it along with their friends, some who have never heard of a king cake, to their surprise. Shipping was fast and the price was decent especially for one of the best cakes in the city. I will always recommend Caluda's.

As a New Orleans native, king cakes have been a family tradition for years. And it has been a tradition to send one to my son, who lives in Miami, every year on his birthday, as it falls during the Mardi Gras season. For several years, I have had his ‘birthday cake’ delivered on the day of his birthday from Claudia’s. And every year he tells me it’s “ the best king cake I’ve ever sent.” This year I hesitated because he was leaving town the day after his birthday, but of course I couldn’t break tradition. I even researched how he could freeze it, if he wanted to. But that turned out to be unnecessary. Instead, he brought it with him, to a friends house to share. He said it was a huge hit and even the parents of his friends joined in and just loved the cake. Claudia is reasonably priced, delivered on time, and always fresh and tasty. Highly recommend

Slipped upon an article about the best 10 places in Nola to get a King Cake. Clauda's King Cake was in the line up. I researched, read reviews and voted Clauda's as my option to waste money on something I can truly live without. Ordered the Strawberry cream cheese, did the overnight shipping. I used to live in Louisiana and wanted to introduce my friends in western New York to an authentic king cake. I ordered a traditional king cake and a praline cream cheese king cake from Caluda's on two separate occasions this year and they were absolutely delicious! I'm a northerner who was turned on to King Cake as a young person working with an oil and gas engineer whose offices were based in Washington state, but who worked out of Louisiana. Our firm's attorney in Louisiana sent us King Cake from New Orleans and I was enchanted (we don't have those things up here). I have been on a hunt ever since to find a King Cake that rivaled that first experience. Caluda's surpassed it this week. I ordered the King Cake with strawberry and cream cheese. You could smell the scratch made yeast dough when you opened the box. I had to have it shipped to me, which they did overnight, and it was like it just came out of the oven. The strawberries are real and the cream cheese has just the right tang. Bless you Caluda's, for doing such fine work in a difficult economic environment. You have my business from now on. Leah

I'm a New Orleans native now living in Florence AL. I was shopping in our Walmart store on Thursday and found your king cake. At first thought it was a little pricey but I just had to have it. Besides if I was to order online it would cost about the same. Your King Cake is amazingly delicious. So fresh, tasty and the icing great. We only have 2 pieces left. I'm new to New Orleans so I've been making my rounds taste-testing all of the "must have" king cakes around town. Caluda's is by far my favorite! Its super moist and the icing is never stale. I love the traditional but I've had the praline too and that was excellent! I even sent a cake to my family in Tennessee and it arrived just as fresh as if it were picked up directly from the bakery. I would highly recommend trying Caluda's out!

What a FANTASTIC company! I have ordered several King Cakes from this company this year so I didn't hesitate to order one for an AU/LSU game Gender Reveal Party for my son and daughter in law. They are LSU grads(as well as my other son) while my husband and I are AU grads (my daughter also attends AU)! I had ordered this cake to be delivered to Alabama on Oct 30. Since NO was hit by an almost Cat 3 hurricane (Zeta) on Wed., I thought no way was I going to be able to receive the cake. We had most our king cakes from here this carnival season. They are delicious. Love love the bananas foster! That they do once a year . That's a must try for sure. I love the King Cakes, the traditional and of course my favorite is the cream cheese; I only order these 2 b/c I am not a fan of ANY other fillings at ANY other bakeries. But I was born/raised in New Orleans and have had the privilege tasting ALL the bakeries that make king cakes BUT Caluda's king cakes are the freshest/tastiest EVER that you will find. I've had wonderful experiences when picking up my king cakes b/c living here I have had first hand meeting the hard working employees who are constantly busy- NON-STOP. I applaud the ones who also get up very early in the morning to make the delicious king cakes as well. I'm so glad I live close enough to pick up my order that they always have ready w/NO problems. As a local, I believe Caluda's has the best king cake in the gno area. Don't be afraid to try the regular one. BEST King Cake!!! Believe me, I tried A LOT of them while in New Orleans for Mardi Gras and it was so good I couldn't stop eating it at this one crawfish boil. I cannot say enough about the quality of King Cake as well as the customer service from John and his team. My cake showed up damaged from shipping and the random warm day. I sent an email just to let them know about it in case it could help another customer in the future as it wasn't the bakeries fault. John called me within an hour and then sent me another cake that night to apologize for what I had received. Amazing!!

I TOTALLY disagree with the review discouraging king cake shipment. I am from the New Orleans area but live in the Bay Area now. Years ago we lived in NO and loved the King Cakes (crawfish and regular) that we got from Coffee Cottage in Metairie. When we moved away, we tried the king cakes that various bakeries ship out of state but nothing compared. I ordered over the internet to have a king cake delivered to my son in another state. The shipping choices listed were confusing and somehow the free shipping tacked $30 on to the price when I checked out. However when I called to see about it the staff were wonderful and went to great lengths to find out what happened and they called me back at least twice to make sure we had it straightened out. My son was very happy with his King Cake too.

One reason why I am giving only 4 stars instead of 5: our King Cake was supposed to arrive on Mar 4th but it arrived on Mar 5th. When I called to let them know that our cake hadn't arrived, he advised me to "call back tomorrow if I don't get it." The boss was happy as he is from New Orleans and King Cake is very important to him. Mardi Gras was on Mar 5th this year so we got it on Fat Tuesday. It was very fresh and had a light cinnamon smell to it. Last year, we ordered one from another company and it was very dry. I suggest ordering your cake 2 weeks before you want it to arrive; you can choose your date this way, which is another great feature. You can only order your cake on-line ; they do not take orders over the phone. Except for the late arrival, I was very happy with the service and quality of the cake.

I now reside in Colorado and I visited New Orleans recently and my “Chalmation” husband was unable to go. So I decided to bring him back a variety of king cakes to Colorado to taste test. He is from Chalmette and asked me to bring him back a Randazzos “his favorite”. We were trying to figure out how in the world they were number #1. That was the worst we have ever had… dry, bland, slimy, and expensive. Well I can honestly say he was extremely disappointed, but for the first Caluda king cake he has ever eaten. He said it is now his favorite! I am from New Orleans and I have my favorites, but I think Caludas can give them a run for their money. The freshness lasted for 5 days. We finished last piece on the 5th day :-). The cake has an awesome very slight lemony flavor with a fantastic vanilla flavored icing. Caludas you should have 5 stars! At least I will give them to you…⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I asked for the most popular and was recommended this one. They weren't kidding. All parties have raved about it. Even my seat mates on the flight all said I had selected a good one.
