Reviews of Turtle Bread
Customer service, breakfast food and coffee were delicious! Everything tastes fresh and the atmosphere is that of your neighborhood bakery. Super cute and look forward to going back.
Great lunch date here on a rainy day. we had the tomato basil soup. So good taste like the farm 😋😍 …
The smell when you walk in is ravishing! I stopped by to grab a bite for lunch and it was a fine choice. Though prices were a bit much (over $10 for a sandwich) the ingredients seemed to be high quality. The staff was also friendly. The things stopping me from five stars would be the slightly longer than anticipated wait for a sandwich, the higher price point, and the fact that I was given the wrong kind of turkey sandwich. But the sweet potato fries— irresistible!
Food was delicious. It can get pretty busy so there may be a wait. Friends and I enjoyed the patio, as well as the various indoor and outdoor seating. Omelettes, French toast, and various other breakfast foods received high praise amongst the people.
Sadly, service has gone down hill in the past years. Food is still tasty. Their drip coffee used to be my favorite but is no longer very good.
We had a magical winter night here, when we were exploring Linden Hills and stumbled upon a Christmas tree lot. Then my friend was feeling low blood sugar coming on, so we tucked into this adorable bakery and perused their selections. We were among the last ones in there before they closed. It was like a scene from a Hallmark Christmas Movie.
Great place good food but stopped going there when they stopped making my favorite beef lasagna!!!
Ordinary bakery, but pleasant atmosphere. I have been here several times now and have mostly ordered the apple pie. It is decent, but I really enjoy the bright feel of the place. This time around, I ordered peanut butter bar, lemon bar, cherry pie, and raspberry pie. My daughter who loves sweets didn't want more than a bite of each. That's saying something. Having said that, I would still come back for the pleasant atmosphere. For the baked goods, Honey and Rye is superior; so are Patisserie Margot, and down the street Patisserie 46 or Rose. Even Rustica is a good option...for the baked goods.
They have the best raspberry jam. Compliments there bread amazingly, could just carb up all day. Their pork sandwich was also pretty good, it was almost a little ban mi -esque as the vegetables were a little bit sweet inside, but the pork was a bit on the salty side. Would definitely recommend if you're looking for a comfy sit down meal, or a quick bite.
If you haven't been to Turtle Bread, you Need to get there! Their chocolate bread is decadently chocolately! Great selection of French style and rustic breads, sweet rolls, buns, Cardamom bread, etc, Cool Cafe as well!
Good Apple pie, lots of cinnamon and spice if that's your thing.
Their Almond croissants are delicious!
The food is so good! Cozy neighborhood vibe and friendly service. Great spot to bring the fam :)
Unfortunately they don’t take apples as payment according to a nice young person on the TikTok website who tried to trade them for a croissant.
Turtle bread is excellent. It’s a lovely stop for lunch, but also an excellent place for shopping for baked goods of a wide variety. If you are craving dessert, I have to recommend the Mexican brownies or the pumpkin bars. Just delightful!
Great food awesome bread and really good service! Favorite place for coffee soup sandwiches and pastries while working in the neighborhood.
I have given this place lots of chances. It is not terrible by any means. There are lots of options for breakfast and lunches. It is a good place to go if you want to have a picnic at the lake. They have a cool selection of cheeses to pair with the bread.
I've tried their soups, quiches, chocolate croissant, bacon and cheese croissant, and some of the bread selection...I just am never blown away. It has always tasted just a bit above Panera to me.
If you are looking for a really good bakery, check our Black Walnut Bakery off Hennipen. They have incredible breakfast sandwiches on croissant bread.
Always a pleasure to visit Turtle Bread! The food was delivered to my table very fast... More than I expected! If you are worried about an expanding waistline, try to ignore the delicious desserts behind the glass case while in line to order!
Quick and easy lunches... Tomato Squash soup delicious with a nice hunk of bread and butter... Delicious Rueben sandwich. The Grilled cheese sandwich with tomato basil soup was very tasty.
This is a lovely little gem in Linden Hills. They have amazing baked goods made at one of their other locations. Get there early if you want something in particular. They sell out fast. The kitchen is only open until 2. If you want something made fresh to order off of their menu, get there early. After 2, they still have a lot to offer. A great soup selection. Always one or two vegetarian options. I love the broccoli cheddar. Several quiches, premise sandwiches and good coffee.
We have a small group of friends that get together at this Turtle Bread often. We love the food, the staff, and the laid back ambiance. Also love sitting outdoors. Really good soups and quiche.
Love the spice buns and their croissants are enormous. Good lunch sandwiches and friendly staff. Easily replaced meat with vegetarian sausage for me on request. Their ciabatta rolls and multigrain loaves are also excellent.
Staff can be pretty aloof but that's probably because it's mostly high school kids.
my favorite little bakery/coffee shop both for the ambiance of the decor and the amazing food i’ve had here. the chai with oat milk is just perfect and there’s tons of seating, which makes for an ideal brunch !
Soup on a cold MN day! Nothing better than Turtle Bread
A pleasant neighborhood place for a casual Sunday breakfast. My veggie scramble was tasty and just what I was looking for. I like the serve yourself nature of this place, and how I can go get a coffee refill or some hot sauce when I need it.
It's hard to resist the baskets of baked goods as you walk to the counter. The chocolate rolls are so tempting! Try one if you get the chance!
Loved the asparagus red pepper goat cheese quiche. It was fabulous.
Yummy bread, good soup and other foods, delectibible pastries, and delightful staff and atmosphere
This is one of my favorites spots in the city because it is located in the neighborhood where I grew up. The vibe is warm and welcoming. The staff is friendly and variety of food and deserts amazing. My favorites are the Quiche Loraine, Tomato Basil soup and Key Lime Pie. The reasonable prices are the icing on the cake. :)
Artichoke / Swiss quiche outstanding!
Noticed that employees are happy in their work. It's always a good experience to be uplifted when visiting a well-run and pleasant restaurant & bakery.
Stopped in to get bread to accompany the homemade soup we were having for dinner. Large selection of various types. Prices are reasonable. Only problem is their awesome homemade cookies are right next to the bread, good luck trying not to buy a cookie, or 3, while picking up bread
The bread IS fantastic... but they have so much more to offer. Amazing soups. Pastries are delightful. Cookies are delicious! And the staff could not be more friendly and attentive. They love to accomodate. Cant recommend this place enough!
The desserts and pastries are to die for! They have quiche, sandwiches, soup, etc. I'm pretty sure everything is made in-house, from scratch. Awesome, lively atmosphere with friendly staff and good sized patio too. It's definitely worth making a special trip to go there.
I love Turtle Bread, the coffee, the food and the vibe. Super nice workers and it's Vienna Roast coffee is delicious! If you want more then coffee you need to try their mushroom chicken soup, YUM! I am not a sweet eater, but my kids have said they make the best cookies ever. It is fun to walk in to see the European-style display of freshly made bakery items. Turtle Bread is a treasure.
We go here several times a week. The soup is great and nutritious. They use local produce and you can pick up your veggies there if you are part of the right co-op. The whole place has a low-key neighborhood feel with a bulletin board of local events and artists. My kids just rave about the chocolate bread. I love the fruit danishes.
Two of my favorites off the menu. Asparagus frigate and eggs Benedict. Also I thought a small side salad was included with my quiche and I wasn't offered the option to add it. Bread not necessary with quiche. Turtle bread has been my "go to" in my neighborhood for years. Sorry not anymore.
I am addicted to your quiche!! I've had quiche for 4 days of the last 7 for lunch, all are great but I'm partial to the Quiche Lorraine! I've also had a pumpkin bar or lemon bar for dessert, both delicious!
Also, your staff is great!!!
Best pies in MSPL as far as I am concerned. Soup is their other specialty. Great salads (like chickpeas and feta) and breakfast all day. Surprisingly not the top bread in Linden Hills, but still good and the French pastries, like croissants, are excellent.
YUM! I could eat soup here every day. I highly recommend ordering the extra bread and saving room to try a second kind of soup. Delicious options for dining at their outdoor tablrs or eating out.
I had never been to this place, as it is far from where I live and work. Met a client there, who lives nearby. The place is not very conveniently located, with no easy highway access, no matter which direction you come from. Neighborhood is a big funky, and so is the building and the store. The latter is just a big room with lots of tables, merchandise displayed in a haphazard fashion and lots of empty shelves. My client assured me that Turtle Bread has some of the best bread in town, and I want to believe that. But since it was in the middle of the afternoon I just had a piece of pie (cranberry-pear), which was rather large and tasted good, although the crust was too thick and hard. We also each had a cup of coffee (latte for me), which was OK. The total came to $18 ($20 with tip), which I found high for what was provided. Patrick's Bakery and P46, to pick two local competitors, do a much better job, in my opinion.
Great food. The omelet with apple and bacon is great. Only thing keeping from 5 stars is the food runner was very rude. Sorry to inconvenience you for syrup.
I’ve been coming to Turtle Bread for 20 years and I just love everything about it. The food is simple and yummy. The atmosphere is great.
Always amazing! Love this spot! One of the best places in the Twin Cities to grab breakfast and coffee!
Loved it! Great selection, and a friendly staff! Recommend you stop by and give it a try. Great place to get a cup of coffee or an Italian Soda. Even though it's a bakery, much preferred to other coffee shops in the area.
We go to Turtlebread every Sunday. Great times. I love the quiche and fresh breads. Make sure you check out the desserts. Love it. See you at Turtlebread!
Amazing bread. Great local cafe vibe. Good soup. Sandwiches fail to become more than their constituent parts. Great place to grab a baked good and a table by the window to sip coffee and read the newspaper.
Always have excellent food and pastries there. Perfect place to meet friends and visit. I love the neighborhood too!
I like the comfy neighborhood feel of Turtle Bread but I wouldn't keep coming back if the food wasn't great. And friendly, efficient service. I usually get a hot breakfast and prefer the self-service concept.
one of the best bakeries around what a great neighborhood too. ample them on a parking. nice open area on the sidewalk to sit in the Sun.
Yummy deserts. Great soups especially the tomatoe basil . Awesome salads. Good coffee. Fun space to hang alone or gather with a group. Best grilled tuna ever. And crazy good bread.
Sugar cookie was not priced. First I was told $1.99. When I said that was crazy, they said okay, $1.50. Once I dropped a muffin as I was leaving the counter. They told me I had to pay for another one. Bread and pie crust are average. Quiche is delicious, as are soups
A true gem of Minneapolis. The soups are great the bread is amazing and the service is solid. The prices are quite reasonable as well.
My favorite brunch place in our neighborhood and a go-to for dinner take out. Love the food, the atmosphere, selection and service. It's a comforting, classy yet affordable place to go for any meal and is kid-friendly, dog friendly on the patio.
Tasty food with quick service. All kinds of bakery goodies are available - loaves, pastries, cakes, jams, soups. A nice place for a low key date. Just wish they still cooked the bread at this location instead of trucking it from the the other store.
best management i've ever seen
delectable quiche
mix the clam chowder with the split pea, you won't regret it
LOVE the eats. Love the peeps. Super yummerific. Apparently there a few sad reviews from people that expect a simple kitchen and server of delights to be a full service ego stroker too. Get over yourself, and instead get to know the person next to you while you wait forever in line due to the slow 'service'. I'd give it six stars due to the Amazing Ethiopian coffee if I didn't have to poor it myself.
They have tasty soup and baked goods- especially the cookies. There aren't any outlets, so if you are looking to get some work done make sure to bring your device fully charged.
Great pastries and brownies! Lots of space to sit at outside tables and in the back room. Best bookclub in a long time!
Delicious breads, salads, desserts, soups, & quiches. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable to eat there, & easy to get take out. Fantastic lemon bars!
Picked up a loaf of bread to make some fancy grilled cheeses and WOW.....so much goodness. This place also has delicious soups.
Fun place to eat. Variety of items. Nice casual atmosphere. Would come again. We ate there due to good recommendations and would go back again when we come to town. We live 7 hours away.
Pleasant peasant atmosphere, attractive food presentation, tasty with large portions. Warm temperature. (dislike eating in chilly restaurants). Service people nice and accommodating. Highly recommend.
I used to stop in for a slice of Triple Chocolate cake. Most of the time I've been to get a piece or two and a slice of Apple Pie. The last six month's, it's been hit or miss. I been many times I'm told they sold out of slice's of The triple Chocolate cake, yet I see a whole cake in the case. The unfunny thing is the things I've been told they only get the slices of pie on Friday if i'm there Thursday, going back in on Friday, I'm told they sold out of piece's of that cake. Yet in the case I see a whole cake. Being told lie after lie. Why do I keep coming back the food is very good. A few workers, not willing to cut a piece doesn't change the fact the food is very good.
Excelent local coffee shop! Great service and excellent pies. Their bread though is more of a nice idea rather than good execution. But their quiches are great!
Visited for the first time recently. Impressed. From the moment you arrive- the smells of the fresh bread and soup hug you at the door. You really want to try one of everything- your eyes dont know where to look. Strongly recommend.
Got the best cherry pie ever!
Relaxed local bakery and café that serves full breakfast and lunch plates alongside their artisanal breads and pastries. This location happens to be the first of several across the twin cities.
This place is great, the waiters are nice, the food is great and the coffee is delicious. But the portion size is a tad large, you just have to know what your getting yourself into!
Absolutely the best molasses cookies ever!
Ive been coming here since I was little and its amazing. Its so cozy and the food is great. Its a wonderful place to study. I recommend the tomato soup
Great Homemade Soups with sandwiches and BIG Cookies. Neighborhood atmosphere in Southwest Mpls and near Lake Harriet...
This is my classic favorite. Probably ate here over 100 times. Love the wild rice chicken soup as well as the tomato basil or any of the breakfast items. Keep up the good work guys!
Tomato soup my boys ask for on the regular....go get a quart or two and a beautiful bread loaf. You'll wonder why you are just learning about this secret now!
I've always had positive experiences here. Their staff is friendly and the good is alway delicious. Portions are big and their soup is especially good.
Nice low-key spot to stop, have some hot soup, and enjoy the cold weather.
Great bakery, everything's fresh.
For a breakfast spot in Linden Hills, you can't do better!
Great homemade soups, quiches and baked goods. Fun atmosphere too!
Local treasure. Great for breakfast and brunch. The bread is amazingly soft with a good variety. Street parking and a smaller parking lot across the street.
Nice place for lunch or a treat. Has inside and outside seating. Plenty of cakes, pastries to choose from. They also sell cheeses.
Delicious fresh baked goods and seating if you want to have your meal there. I wish I could have breakfast here every day.
First time there. A beautiful October day. Soup was wonderful. Bought a cookie to go it was enough for 3 people.
Every time we visit the Twin Cities from Sacramento we always go at least once to Turtle Bread. It was great as usual.
Lovely neighborhood spot. There are few soup, salad, sandwich (and quiche, in this case) type places and I'm grateful this one is close by.
Had some tomatoe soup 🍲 loved it, I could use little more bread 😀 …
Love this bakery! The staff are always friendly and helpful, and their bread is amazing!
Nice little bakery and deli style establishment. Large seating capacity and if you are there, give it a try.
The first time I came here I wasn't expecting much. I ordered a sandwich and damn! it's pretty good.
The soups. The oatmeal. The pies. The staff is really friendly. I go at least once a week because I live in the neighborhood. I love it!
The best tomato basil soup I have ever had! And the bread is great
Absolutely delicious. I am glad and saddened at the same time that this place isn't next door to me. It would destroy my waistline!
Doesn't disappoint. Specialty is their breads. Great specialty sandwiches, soups, and some great limited desserts
Great food in a great space. Lots of scratch made items. Their pies are awesome.
Wonderful bread. I wish they made their olive bread during the week too.
Their meal usually good. Worth it to swing by to check them out
Great place to sit and share coffee, or breakfast or lunch
Lots of soup, sandwich, and other choices. Great quality, and their baked goods are exceptional.
A honey bakery and deli. Great bread, rolls and pastry. Parking across the street. Restrooms in basement.
Still a solid bakery / cafe destination. Early breakfast is packed with elderly during the week so plan accordingly.
Solid breakfast institution! Great egg dishes and baked goods to have with your coffee before the main event!
Great food, bakery, and service...their process for paying your bill needs improvement though--very disorganized checkout..
Great French bread, but also soup and other luscious food. Yummy.
Very local ambiance with good bread. I like their soup better.
Great bakery and tasty Soup specials Hearty Cornbread, YUM😎 …
Slightly confusing on where to order/how ordering works, but great food, best iced tea in town!
I love stopping in for some soup, whether done in or carry out their soup is some of the best!
Nice outdoor seating and parking, great soups, cookies, pastries and sandwiches.
Excellent food. Comfortable. Open and airy. Friendly and efficient staff.
Best soup in the cities, awesome selection of organic and vegan choices
Best cold press around, great soup not to mention the wonderful baked goods.
Food was good as usual. Staff kinda doom and gloom. Not too many smiles
A great place to catch up e friends. A very relaxed neighborhood eatery.
Great breakfast, good casual place if you have kids.

Great quiche, and their sunflower rye bread is fabulous.
I love this place! I could close my eyes, spin around and grab something and be assured it would make my day.
This place is great. 4 stars because occasionally, the young service staff is a little rough.
Love this homey cafe with artisan bread and delicious meals!!

Excellent soup! And quiche!
Great food, needs a changing table in men's restroom
I really wanted to like TB, but the deserts were overpriced, uninspired, and very average.
Fantastic soups and bread and friendly employees
Great place to catch up with friends or bring a laptop and get some work done.
