Reviews of Isles Bun & Coffee
Coach Les J Hill
The carrot cake here is so good we had it for our wedding cake and the ability to get extra cream cheese frosting from the staff is phenomenal!!! I only buy carrot cake from here now as they have spoilt me with best and I love the pieces and healthiness of how they prepare and serve with chunks of nuts and shredded carrots!!! Thank you 🙏
Oh and on a second note their restrooms are impeccable!! Thank you 🙏
Ella B.
The nicest staff! We received a sample of their puppy dog tail, which is a mini, twisted version of their cinnamon roll. It was so moist and incredibly delicious! This prompted us to buy the regular sized (HUGE!) cinnamon roll that they're famous for. Immediately comparing it with the sample we received, it was sadly dry. Considering how popular this place is, I imagine this experience was a one off. I really enjoyed my time here otherwise. Portion wise and taste wise, when I come back I'll do puppy dog tails instead of the bun. I'd like to try the GF offerings as well.

A must visit place for amazing baked goods and coffee as well. Service is quick and staff is really nice! Loved the doggy tail (with extra frosting) and scone. Red latte blew me away- coffee and tea brewed together. Tea dominates the flavor but it tastes unique.
Would visit again for sure!
Greg Schmidt
Are you kidding me? Every item purchased - even the gluten free - is excellent. The coffee cake with a plethora of fruit on top is what dreams are made of. Go there soon and often! Thank you to these beautiful artisans of food.
Erich Thalacker
Fresh and warm!
Favorite items were the scones and puppy tails. The scones had a lot of cool advanced flavors that worked well. The puppy tails would satisfy any sugar craving.
Probably could pass on the pecan roll and try coffee cake.
Also of note, a mean lady came in yelling and the owner worked hard to satisfy her and diffuse the situation. He handled it great even though she was difficult!
4 star - Would enjoy going back!

Love love love love! Best way to start the morning and add a little sweetness to your day. My boyfriend and I stopped by to try out the coffee and had to pick up a cinnamon bun too. The bun was soft and gooey with extra frosting, a little tough on the bottom, but yummy all the same. Coffee was good too!
Nick Totin
ABUNDANCE. Truly a gift to the taste buds. Their indulgent and delicious buns and pastries are so good. Great coffee and tea selection. Energy and atmosphere hit the mark. You will love it here.

*1st time visit*
Food:
I got 2 puppy tails and asked if they could add more frosting, which they did with enthusiasm 😍... they seriously win points with me for that policy alone. They looked really good and fresh and did not disappoint. I also ordered an oatmilk mocha. Being somewhat hungry 2 was the right call on puppy tails. I love that they taste pretty much like a cinnamon roll but with a different format, which I think make the texture & moisture more consistent and satisfying, though maybe a little less cinnamon-y..?
They also felt like real ingredients,... so if you're used to really processed corn syrupy type pastries this is not that and might not be your taste. Looking for something sweet and clearly a treat but that I could feel "better" about, these did not disappoint. The frosting had a really genuine cream cheese flavor that was really rich and sweet but not punch-you-in-face sugary.
The oatmilk latte felt more on the mild side of sweetness, possibly in comparision to the puppy tails but I ended up thankful to not have gotten a sweeter drink since it balanced well, and I probably could've even gone with an unsweetened latte (non-mocha) which would've probably been the best counter-balance to the puppy tails... next time. I definitely would recommend the puppy tails. I like that they're not a huge commitment and I could order 1-2 probably depending on my mood vs a full cinnamon roll, which appeared very generous in size though also looked really good. They did have a gluten free baked oatmeal that sounded pretty good but no gluten-free roll/tail option.
Atmosphere:
They had outdoor seating which really appealed to me but it was cold outside so we ate inside. Plenty of seating inside when we were there but I could see it filling up at busier times. There were maybe a dozen or so tables. It has a kind of "hole in the wall" feeling that I found charming despite that from the outside it doesn't look like a hole in the wall. The staff seemed very happy and were friendly and enthusiastic. 😃
COVID:
They were quick to remind of mask policy when walking in the door which I do appreciate right now. They didn't seem to enforce masking at the tables whether people were actively eating or not. There were signs posted about needing proof of vaccine but I was never asked to provide it; best to make sure you have it in case.
Navigation & Parking:
It was pretty easy to find on Hennepin using google maps. I didn't see a parking lot; it appeared to be metered street parking only enforced daily. I didn't have trouble finding a spot at the time I visited (1pm on a Sat) but wonder if that could be a challenge at busier times.
Brad Beggs
I was a skeptic about how fantastic a cinnamon roll could be, until I had a puppy dog tail (four of them, actually). They are so soft, so good, so fresh...they melt in your mouth. They're $1.75 each, but buy a dozen for $20 if there are three or four of you. Thank me later.
The line might be to the corner, but it's only about a 15 minute wait. There's always plenty of seating.
Lizsandra Edwards
I’ve been here a few times and enjoy my visit each time. The best part? They are known for their puppy tails. In fact, you might get one on the house if you tell them you have never been there before… but I’m not guaranteeing that! I love their fresh squeezed OJ and the quiche was tasty. Staff is also super nice and friendly. The worst part? Not much to add but keep in mind street parking can be tough if you go during busy hours.
Emma Hines
Loved this place! Our favorite item was the puppy tails. We also got a scone, pecan bun, coffee cake, and iced lattes.
Stefani M
I ordered 3 big orders of Puppy Dog Tails and chocolate chip cookies for the business I work for. Phenomenal! Delicious! The last order I placed I had delivered. Jeff was wonderful and left a delicious treat of carrot cake for us. Thanks a million! We will be placing future orders.
Tristan Klausegger
Weekend mornings the line is around the corner, but it's absolutely worth waiting for. Delicious bakery and delicious coffee - the cinnamon rolls are warm and gooey (with extra icing) and the caramel roll is a new favorite of mine. Coffee prices are about $1 cheaper than the other neighborhood coffee shops, so I always tip extra here. Cozy, vintage atmosphere on the inside, complete with a wood burning stove in the winter, and terrazzo floors.
Grace Swanson
Friendly staff, came here around 9am sat morning, busy but the service was quick. Got the doggy tails & cinnamon buns and they were soooo good! Cold brew was smooth & tasty, partner got an iced mocha that was good too. Definitely recommend :)
Lizzie Anderson
Wow! Great little cafe. Had the green tea latte (great) but the real star was this cinnamon roll! They give you extra icing and everything. Wonderful experience and great atmosphere!
Megan
My favorite coffee shop in the uptown/ Lowry Hills area! The buns are the best I’ve had in the twin cities! Highly recommend.
Brooke Nelson
So cute, and delicious! Staff was amazingly friendly. Too many amazing choices.
Maya Smith
The cinnamon roll is a bit more like bread than I would like, but they are HUGE for under $5. The Isles roast coffee was very good. Come early on the weekend unless you want to wait in a line around the block!!
Honghan Ye
VERY Great coffee here. Highly recommended! The coffee cake was good too, that’ll be better if it has more coffee flavor. Latte and brewed coffee are great 👍 …
Leah Anderson
I’ve been frequenting isles for years and everything i’ve ever had from here has been exceptional, with the extra frosting (upon request since covid) being the perfect finishing touch. the staff is always so friendly and there is ample seating indoors. the only downside is it’s usually very busy, but well worth the wait!
Macey L
Their food is absolutely AMAZING! I got the cinnamon roll (with extra frosting of course) and I was definitely not disappointed. Be aware the lines are longer most mornings (because everyone knows how good it is) so be prepared to wait a couple minutes! The lines go quickly though so it’s never an issue.
Tomi Fibi
The buns are amazing, I particularly like the dog tails since I can't eat an entire bun. They are dog friendly! The Colombian coffee is good, not much for the other. Glad to see top prices that don’t make me feel guilty for buying coffee 10%
Lee DeKrey
Amazing. The staff is great; they're all busy and know what their individual tasks are to make everything run smoothly for the long line of patrons they always seem to have. Unreal flavors and generous portions. Can't wait to go back!
Adam Hough
Wonderful little coffee shop! Only problem: getting there. Be aware that the area around it is confusing while driving. One way streets, and turning left off of Hennepin heading north can be dicey. I recommend parking a block or two away and proceeding on foot.
The coffeeshop/bakery itself is delightful. I only had a cup of coffee on my visit but it was very good. How I refrained from getting a pastry is beyond me. I will be back because they looked delightful.
Also, very friendly staff. I ordered their medium roast and ordered a medium size. "A medium medium" was the answer I got back. Stupid joke but just my style. I liked it and definitively recommend!
Marta Brown
Very nice cozy quiet atmosphere. Didn’t realize how chill it was with actual seating options and most definitely plan to return! Bonus: I saw a Christmas dog there whose owner gave me permission to photograph.
Tom Land
An absolute Minneapolis gem. One of the nicest, friendliest, best ambience coffee shops I have ever been in. Additionally has an absolute four-star bakery to go with the coffee shop. Their baked oatmeal to go with coffee is perfection.
Ben
Wish I new about this place sooner. Reasonable prices and amazing baked goods!
Mellen
my mother's day treat and always a very special one! efficient staff, good at adhering to pandemic rules in a very professional way. pretty long line when we arrived, but seemed to move along in a timely manner. the coffee cake is insanely delicious. what am I saying? everything there is outstanding. looking forward to going back when they have ginger cookies.
Andrew Tompsett
The best! No longer live in the Twin Cities but always make a visit to Isles Buns for a cinnamon roll when I’m in town. Always order the cinnamon roll but everything else LOOKS equally incredible. Used to love (in pre-COVID times) that they had a tub of extra frosting on the counter for customers to lather on their purchases. Definitely go!
MV
Nice bakery. We got a cold press coffee, a hot coffee, puppy dog tails, and a giant caramel sticky bun. The cold press coffee was pretty bad. It got thrown out after a dozen sips or so. The hot coffee was average. The puppy dog tails were very good. Small for the price but really liked the extra crunchy edges. The caramel sticky bun was good. Super soft and big but could’ve been gooier. LOVED that they had an extra little tub of icing set out. That made everything taste batter. In all I’m glad we stopped but nothing blew my mind.
Amando Komoda
On the weekends, the line spills out onto the sidewalk, hinting at the appeal their namesake confection holds. The wait is significantly shorter than expected, with the staff expertly shepherding their eager customers through with warm smiles and efficient service. The staff's composure and clockwork synchronicity demonstrate that the volume of orders is the norm, and they are well prepared for it. The kitchen is hot and humming, constantly baking and restocking the little display case with piping hot pastries, such as their cinnamon buns, and Puppy Dog Tails (their signature pastry, and essential piece of the experience).
The cinnamon buns are massive and incredibly delicious. While slathered in creamy frosting, you'll notice with your first bite that it isn't cloying, rather it's the texture of the bun and the rich scent of cinnamon that take center stage on your palette. Smooth and chewy, it doesn't rely on cheap tricks to convince you of its quality, effortlessly putting its cardboard competitors to shame.
Similarly, the scones aren't overladen with sugar, allowing the flavor of the fruits to shine alongside the quality dough. Overall, a wonderful experience, and dog-friendly to boot. My only regret is that I can't give it more stars.
Sai Rohit Chimakurthi
Love love love this place!
The coffee cake is amazing!
The cinnamon and the cream are so delectable!!!
Highly recommend this place to anyone who visits Minneapolis!
Kassie Springhoff
Nice atmosphere, amazing staff, and they had a gluten free apricot ginger baked good:) good bang for you buck. Amazing cinnamon twist/puppy tail.
Fred Geyen
I would have a picture of the baked goods I was eating except I ate it so fast because it was so good.
Mikayla Stanek
Jacky enjoyed some puppy dog tails on his last day with us.
Aby Soumare
Super good!! You can add frosting on the sticky bun, it’s delicious!
ATM there is no indoor seating which is perfectly okay, the store itself is very cute, though!!
Jason Christenson
This place is super fun! Lots of activity and tons and tons of people there, though. It’s got outdoor seating as well as A surprising amount of of indoor seating. It is also very dog friendly – it has little milk bones for visiting dogs and lots of benches and water bowls outside for them to. The service friendly and this place is very kid friendly, too. Prices are a touch on the high side, but I don’t think they are unreasonable, especially for the experience! I highly recommend.
Sarah Barnett
Best buns in town! Always fresh. Love that you can add your own frosting! Puppy dog tails are a great smaller option and very reasonable priced. New addition gives great indoor seating! Highly recommend.
Ellen Salmela
One of the best cinnamon rolls we’ve had! I absolutely loved the puppy tails! I can’t wait to come back!
Alicia Wright
I ♥ cinnamon rolls so much! They're deliciously messy and go great with coffee. The cashier offered a free extra smear of frosting from the side of the pan and I felt so happy 😂. They offer some other things too for folks not quite as sugar-addicted as I am. There's a daily flavor of vegan scone available but come early since those sometimes sell out. Wrapped day-old pastries are in a basket by the front door for 1$ each. The trick with those is to pop them in the microwave for a few seconds and they'll feel moist again.
Thomas Henning
Stopped for a quick casual breakfast. The staff were very friendly. This one of the biggest cinnamon rolls I have ever had. The cinnamon roll is masterfully crafted. The coffee is also top notch. Fantastic local neighborhood bakery. You will thank yourself throughout the day that it started here.
Kaitlin T
First time at Isles Bun, and we were greeted with two free puppy dog tails. They are like their cinnamon rolls, but in a donut-like shape. On top of that, we ordered an almond joy muffin and a pecan caramel roll. We were not disappointed by any of our pastries. Overall, definitely recommend a stop here and we'll be back.
John Morgan
Best cinnamon rolls in town! Come check them out, you won't be disappointed at all!!
Ronald Morales Vitulli
It is a nice and cozy place to eat fresh bakery items also they offer a variety of nice coffee☕️ . (It’s warm inside 😅) …
Andrew Stone
I used to be a Cinnabon guy, but after simply smelling the aroma of one of Isles Buns and Coffee’s cinnamon rolls I knew my life had changed. I was greeted with a friendly hello and warm smile, and I was offered a freshly baked roll with extra icing ;) The dough was the perfect consistency, the icing thick and sweet, and the center gooey as could be. Overall 13/12 rating, 100% would recommend.
Christina Owen
Everything is good here and they are known for their cinnamon rolls and puppy tails (mini cinnamon twists). But they serve some of the best quiche I have ever had! The crust is on point and the filling is flavorful. One of my favorite spots to sit outside and relax in Uptown.
Dan Henry
Rare gem. Seriously. You'd be amazed how much joy a little butter, sugar, flour and eggs can bring… ok so maybe "little" isn't the right word…
It all boils down to the staff - in particular the manager, Jeff. Truly exceptional people like him inspire others - the result is places like Isles Bun & Coffee.
Marta Siegfried
Isle Bun and Coffee smells amazing! I was a little concerned about the long line on a Saturday morning, but it only took a few minutes to get up to the counter. The staff had the everyone moving through smoothly and got our coffees and treats out quickly. Everyone had a fun and energetic attitude that was really enjoyable.
Jessica B
Amazing place. The puppy tails are a must. Really dog friendly place (water bowl outside, dog treats by front door). It was a super hot day outside and I was able to sit inside with my husky. Staff here are so nice and helpful!
Jimmy Handoko
If you're into cinnamon rolls, should try this place for sure. Combines with coffee, will definitely make your day.
Arazu Kian
congratulations you have found the best pastries in the world ;) jk but in Minneapolis for sure! Staff are some of the kindest people! Highly recommend the puppy dog tails! Overall great space awesome people and great products! Highly recommend!!!
Davis Narey
Never thought I'd say this but it's better than Cinnabon... plus they have some of the best lattes in the Twin Cities! Additionally, their prices are great and the workers are super friendly. This is a must try in Minneapolis.
Sheila R.
Love this place I always get my puppy dogs and sweet rolls and I go late in the day so I don’t have to stand in line. What do yesterday are usually get five stars just one star off thank it was a new server at the counter and he was super nice! Just wish if he had an ask to I want my frosting on the side or on the puppy dogs he just slaps him on inside the box. I also got a sweet roll and I did ask for the frosting in a cup so he was super nice to give me that. Only other thing is there was alot of fingerprints all over the box and the bag because I was actually going to take one of them to a person in a nursing home but I couldn’t because it look like somebody already ate it lol must’ve been from the frosting just make sure hands are clean when they get ready to pack a persons item in the box because it does show up never had that problem before. Other than that I still want to say he’s great customer service everyone’s in training when you start off OK you can tell I’m a regular there lol love this place! 😋
Jake Boxer
These cinnamon rolls and dog tails are insane. You can even add more frosting if you like. Sosososos good. Definitely recommend!
Whitney Kiepura
They’re not kidding around with these - they are truly the best buns in town. Biggest complaint with cinnamon rolls (generally) is that they lack sufficient icing. Isles solves this problem beautifully by lathering on a second layer of the good stuff. Forget brunch, get buns.
Leah Brooks
It's always hopping here for a reason. The coffee is simple but hits the spot and they have a small selection of pastries that are rich, but pair well with the coffee. Be prepared to wait though!
Torres “el.sombre” Arturo
What a gem this spot is. Was given this as a treat from Mark Engel Atlas MFG.
OMG Amazing.
Only issue , I feel out side cuz of the snow bank wasn't shoveled and it hurt, scratch up my hand I'll sure I feel the pain later.
Sage Tones Family Photography
A favorite place of mine, I don’t know the secret but Their buns taste homemade which means they are So good!
I also like that it’s so close to the lake of the isles because I could get my coffee & buns and have enjoyable time at the lake.
Only trouble is their lines in the morning are horrific but their customer service is great and friendly which help compensate a little.
Ben MacKinney
One of my favorite cafe in msp! There buns are crazy huge. New ppl get a free little cinnamon twist called a puppy tail!!
NickSum Nguyen
Two words. Coffee cake. Love the puppy tails and quiche is so good. Restroom is available. Outdoor seating is so nice in the summertime. Line is usually out the door. Staff is very helpful and friendly. Dogs welcome.
Sarita Parikh
The cinnamon roll is surprisingly bland. The texture is a really nice warm, fluffy white roll... but the flavor is a dull, sparse butter-cinnamon. The coffee cake is gorgeous to look at, but might be more of a brown sugar crumble--very sugary and very dry. I think they use quality ingredients and the treats look great, they just don't taste special. I'm not sure if I have bad luck when I'm here, I keep wanting it to be delicious, and occasionally it is. But usually it's not. The shop is a cool little spot to sit and enjoy a morning. Maybe stick with coffee here and save the calorie splurge for something else.
Claude Harrington
Great coffee! also really great cakes as well, underrated little place!
John O'Neill
Outstanding cinnamon buns and very friendly service. We loved the person working when we visited. Great coffee too. All of this in a beautiful setting with high ceilings, big windows and terrazo floors.
The Elevator and Airplane Finder
They have good cinnamon rolls. They are huge.
My only complaint: The icing doesn’t taste that great. But I would recommend
Thai Archibald
I’m not a big fan of cinnamon. And they got me at my first visit. The cinnamon bun was extremely delicious. It’s warm and not too sweet. I’m in love with their cinnamon bun now.
Kelly McCrimmon
Isles is a definite bucket list item for Minnesota. Come hungry -- these cinnamon buns are MASSIVE! They are the real deal: sticky, sweet, soft, and topped with as much icing as you desire! If you are hosting a breakfast, order one of their take-and-bake pans.
Kristin Karsky
The Cinnamon rolls are hands down my favorite in MN.
David Johnson
Very friendly service, reasonable prices, coffee cake was delicious but did have nuts in it and cinnamon rolls definitely tasted handmade but to bready and not enough cinnamon.
Morris Callahan
One of the best bakery’s I’ve ever been to. Walked in, had clear and concise service from some of the nicest people I’ve ever met. Special thank you to Chris for helping with choosing some items and giving me recommendations. Started with the puppy dog tails, they start chewy and soft, but in a perfect way. It’s not too sweet, it’s not too savory. It’s a perfect mix. The buns were also outstanding, top of the line. Only issue is that I can’t give more than 5 stars.
Grant Nelson
Seriously the best pastries in the cities. Come for the puppy dog tails, stay for the great atmosphere and lively staff.
Bolu Abe
This place is always a 10! Best buns I've ever had in my life. Definitely a must if your visiting the twin cities.
Matthew McKeever
This is always a fun local spot with great cinnamon and caramel rolls. There is it good variety of other fun baked goods as well, and on top of that the coffee is great too! Seating is always hard to get outside, but if you're patient or don't mind walking down to the lake it's not a problem. Plan for a little extra time to stand in line!
Rod
I was actually here a while back and forgot to post a review. I am a Canadian and searched this place out when i was there because I am a cinnabon bun lover. It's my cryptonite! These are, and mean this while trying many cinnabon places across North America, the best ones I have ever had.
Dolores Smith
The puppy Dog Tail's are the best! With more room in the coffee shop this makes it an overall a better experience. Most of the time the staff are friendly as well.
Jen G
If I could eat the cinnamon puppy dog tails with their cream cheese frosting every day, I would! A gem in Mpls for a sweet treat. Very busy in the morning hours with lines out the door but the employees are fast and it's worth the wait.
Mari Marks
I've been here twice now and it has won over my heart and stomach. The first time I got the cinnamon roll with an iced chai, the second time, a caramel pecan roll with orange juice. Both are equally as good as the other, and it will be hard to decide which one to get next time, or if I should try the coffee cake that looked amazing.
The chai was great, and I am obsessed with my chai and only get it from my favorite places. The orange juice tasted like it was fresh from oranges that morning, very pulpy.
Dan Miller
Giant cinnamon and caramel rolls, kid sized puppy dog tails, and even made without gluten scones. The entire family finds exactly what they love. The space has just been expanded to include new tables and chairs and a fireplace.
Yuvraj Torpe
One of the best carrot cakes I ever had! Very reasonable and good location
Ian Zleig
It's in uptown and I didn't get carjacked or shot so that is a successful isles bakery run in my book.
Josh Friday
You won't find a better place for coffee and a cinnamon roll anywhere. Staff is also very friendly and helpful.
Haillie Passow
Worth the wait! So delicious!!! The sticky bun was amazing with the fresh frosting on top!
Somjit Pimson
The pecan caramel rolls are huge and a little too good. Highly recommended if your 2018 New Year's Resolution is to eat delicious sweet breads.
PolythPam
Delicious cinnamon buns, fantastic vanilla frosting(self serve tub too!) and tasty coffee
Matthew Erickson
Love this place! Baked goods are wonderful and have some unique flavor combos and the drinks are tasty. For not good reviews follow @fancydinnerclub on Instagram and check out fancydinner.club

It's dangerous how amazing those cinnamon buns are. The staff is always fantastic
Monica Maurer
Seriously the best cinnamon rolls. They are so fluffy! The frosting is delicious and not overly sweet. The cinnamon rolls are absolutely massive. I usually split one with at least one other person.
Wendy Jiang
Cozy place! Unfortunately the cinnamon rolls are a bit too sweet for my Asian tongue.
Ally Grym
Huge and amazing cinnamon rolls! If you aren't super hungry I would recommend splitting one but this place is to die for.
Ava aka Crow
The employees were very patient as we figured out what to try for our first time at Isles Bun & Coffee. The muffin, coffee cake, and puppy dog tails were wonderful, but quite sweet. I would personally opt for a regular coffee over a latte next time to balance out the sweetness. I would rate 6 out of 5 stars if I could.
Thomas Gregg
Love this place. Good coffee, amazing pastries, even vegan items. Can get very busy on the weekends, I suggest arriving earlier or you'll be waiting outside.
Michelle Müssle
I fell in love with cinnamon roll🤌🏼 …
Paul Klett
Super legit bakery with awesome coffee. Hip joint. Dont like all the single use plastic but def worthy of a visit.
Jamie Bunday
Would you like more icing on your awesome & already superbly iced cinnamon roll, cinnamon twist, coffee cake, or any other delicious pastry? Oh yeah, & they also have coffee which is pretty yummy. 😁 …
Heather Hubert
Yum! I'm so glad I live so close to this spot. No matter how busy the staff is always very friendly and patient. Love the new expansion too!
Johanna .S
Great vibes all around plus the cinnamon buns are to die for. They deserve all the praise.
Janson Michael Steffan
The most delicious carrot cake I've ever had in my entire life. 💜🥕 …
Amanda Baloun
Oftentimes if it's nice out (or just a weekend in general) you can find the line to this spot spilling out into the sidewalk and down the way. It is most definitely worth the wait! Great coffee and pastries - the puppy tails are a namesake in our family. I stop every chance I get!
brandy S
OMG!!! Fresh Fresh!!! This place is deeelicious!! If you’re looking for fresh cinnamon rolls or Carmel rolls or scones. This is the spot! If you’re waiting outside to go in…..the wait is well worth it!!!
Claire Broderick
Wow! What a win. Thankfully we had a decent walk to and fro to get here. Well worth the calories... tho I wasn't as big of a fan of the iced Mocha I got. It was kinda bitter and tasted just like coffee and milk. No sweet chocolate for me :( Got my fill of sweetness with the coffee crumb cake tho! Yum!!!!
Kay King
Amazing buns, the size of your head! And an "apply your own frosting station"?! *swoon* Be still my beating heart! Loved it!
Jay Graham
The cinnamon rolls are good. But despite reviews to the contrary, they have next to nothing that's dairy free for those of us with an allergy who need to severely limit dairy intake. That's not unusual, but as other reviewers mention, the staff has also been rude and unhelpful each of the times I've been here and it rubbed me the wrong way.
Brendan “Conan” L.
Great local coffee and bakery!
I had an amazing coffee to walk around the lake with. Would definitely recommend to a friend!
Only had time for a coffee today, but looking forward to going back for a cinnamon roll and another cup of coffee of course!
Hassan M
Excellent coffee, phenomenal baked goods, and great service. I frequent Isles Bun & Coffee and their prices for quality are beyond reasonable. The espresso drinks are strong just how I enjoy them. My favorite baked good is the puppy dog tails. The staff is very friendly. I would definitely recommend. Lines maybe be a little long and it does get crowded in the summer but it’s worth the visit.
SM Harmon
The food is delicious and fresh every time. The service is always pleasant even when dealing with the long lines that form.
Johann Johann
The baked goods are just delicious and the staff is just nice .I strongly recommend this place!!!
Adam Janecke
I have been here at least 15-20 times and the puppy dog tails are amazing! There is always a line but moves quickly and is always worth waiting. The coffee is pretty good as well. They also allow you to load up on their home made frosting which is so unhealthy but truly delicious. We always get puppy dog tails and then walk around Lake of the isles. Perfect way to spend a Sunday morning.
Paul Vang
The best puppy tail in town and coffee
Mackenzie
My favorite place for a cinnamon roll in the cities. Personally, I love the puppy dog tails. Don’t forget the bucket of frosting on the counter, just in case you need more. I’d also recommend their fresh juice! Tip: I would pass on the scones and stick to the rolls, coffee cake and quiches!
Kacie Staples
I can't share enough how much I love this place! I never write reviews but this place deserves one, the staff is the friendliest one I've ever seen! It smells amazing even from the street, the coffee and food are so good, the place is yellow and cheery, the puppy dog tails are a must-have, it just can't be beat. By far my favorite coffee shop in the cities, and probably mostly to do with how friendly the staff are, its so welcoming and so yummy. Thank you guys for being the best around!
Jenny Taber-Hanson
I keep thinking I should make cinnamon rolls, but then I remember I have near constant access to this place and you can't top their cinnamon rolls! They are worth the lines that frequently extend out the door and down the block. Even with quite a long line my toddler and I made it through in about 20 minutes the other day. Inside the ordering is quick and their social distance set up with markers on the floor is great. Finding this place has really been a bright spot during the pandemic!

I'll start with the good - I love the vibe here - feels a little bit like a state fair food booth and the Puppy Dog Tails are great - very cinnamony. .
Less impressive is the Pecan Caramel Bun. There was a very generous portion of pecans on top, but there was hardly any carmel so it tasted mostly of unsweetened pecans. Don't get me wrong, I love pecans, but was expecting something sweeter. Could be just a one off issue.
Even less impressive are their scones - I would not recommend. I consider the "Gold Standard" for scones to be Patisserie 46 and there is simply no comparison to the offering here.
Kyle Waites
Holy cow!! This place is just amazing. If you go it has to be all about the puppy dog tails.... not real puppy tails but the best breakfast treat ever. Just ask for one and a side of icing that comes in a coffee cup size container! This place is a gem and the staff are great. They love smiles, high fives, and tips!
Trina Koning
They have expanded their space so it is much much bigger than before. the baked goods are phenomenal. The classics are the massive cinnamon rolls and puppy dog tails with extra cream cheese frosting on the counter so you can add as much as you want. There's also scones, coffee cake, pecan rolls, carmel rolls, and more. The coffee is great too. A couple of bistro tables on the sidewalk as well. Highly recommend for a treat.
Joseph Sinner
Love the puppy dog tails, so yummy! Coffee was delicious too.
Charlene Jaszewski
If you love cream cheese frosting do I have good news for you! Isles bun & coffee has tasty cinnamon rolls and puppy tails (skinny cinnamon rolls) made fresh every day, and over on the sidebar with the napkins and forks, is a vat of cream cheese frosting, so you can load up on frosting to your heart's content!
Joe
We love this spot! From the moment, we walked through the door, we were welcomed first by aromas of fresh baked goods and brewed coffee. We were also greeted by several staff members. The baked good exceed expectations, we dined in and took home a box. The hot chocolate is scratch made, delicious! The vat of DIY frosting is the best ‘condiment’ EVER! This is a working bakery, right before your eyes, they love what they do and they do it very well! This place has a warm community vibe too!
Sarah Wirgau
Omg THE PUPPY TAIL cinnamon roll twist was to die for. The staff is incredible and kind. Positive energy and good vibes.
Keara Kelleher
UGH THIS PLACE IS DELICIOUS! I absolutely love their cinnamon rolls, and the frosting is the best cream cheese frosting I've ever had. It's right by the lake and there is so much fun stuff to do around there, I wish they had gluten free options but it's still really amazing!! The portions are definitely sharing size, and the frosting is serve yourself which means I take alot of it! Definitely reccomend, quick and delicious!!
Dave Brown
No better place to grab a coffee or some much deserved sweets after running some loops around the lakes!
We’ve been here almost every time we’re in town and the puppy dog tails never disappoint. This time we also had one of their pizza type pastry’s and it was simply divine.
The staff are also very nice, patient and helpful.
Now put down the phone and start making your way to Isles!
Jacquelyn Mangano
What a place! They have so many good breakfast treats to try! When I walked in on a Saturday morning at 11 the place was packed! The line was so worth it though! They have coffee and tea, but the winner is their cinnamon rolls! They are so huge, but so good! They even have extra frosting by the milk and sugar so you can put extra on top! So amazing!
Appesh M
My wife loves their cinnamon buns and Isle Buns and Coffee delivered them to us! These are easily the best cinnamon Buns in town... maybe in the world. We want to especially thank Jeff with Isle buns and coffee who’s an incredibly nice person. We all need comfort at times, and especially right now. These guys literally deliver it.
Pete Boisclair
LOVE this bakery/ coffee shop so much! Staff are always very friendly and the treats and drinks are always top-notch! I love that they provide a Tupperware full of extra frosting you can use to top off your cinnamon roll or puppy dog tail. The seating outside is pleasant and the expanded space inside is really nice for studying or reading a book or the daily paper while you enjoy your bun or coffee. Definitely one of the best places I’ve ever tasted cinnamon rolls or caramel-pecan rolls at ever!
William McKenzie III
Friendly staff. Baked goods are perfectly made, excellent rise, chewy yet airy.
Coffee is so-so, but being from the NW I have high expectations. Lots of non dairy options which is awesome.
Dan Adamowicz
Amazing cinnamon rolls as big as your head. Don't worry about any line. It's quick and 1000% worth it.
Alexandra Thomas
This place is just amazing.... you know I wish I could use a better word than amazing because just.... oh my god, I love this place so much. I day dream about the puppy dog tails. I live in Colorado now but this was one of my favorite places to go when I lived in Minnesota. I loved the atmosphere and the workers are always super nice. So if you’re in the area go check isles bun and coffee out. 10/10 would recommend.
A V
Definitely a unique spot in Minneapolis, great pit stop if you're just going through town too, since its just off Interstate 94. If cinnamon buns aren't your thing they have other great bakery as well. Coffee cake is unique and super good as well
Christina Nilles
Mmmmm cinnamon rolls are huge and so yummy and there are a couple different types to pick from! Not a healthy breakfast... But worth it every once in a while.
Peyton Andersen
Good menu, the coffee is very good too. You can come here and study during the day. The staff is kind of rude and makes you wanna take it to go :/
Austin Vokoun
This small establishment produces big time flavor! Puppy dog tails were a huge hit at my office, and I thoroughly enjoyed my cinnamon pecan roll and quiche. The staff were every welcoming and skillful, Sara had helped me, and I would recommend anyone looking for a sweet treat to her and her team! Definitely coming back to try more goodies!
Elyse Chezick
The best cinnamon and caramel rolls, but THEIR CARROT CAKE 🤤🤤🤤🤤 …
K Kosin
Wonderful local bakery. Cinnamon rolls and sticky buns are huge! They will even offer an extra side of frosting free of cost if you are a frosting lover. The puppy dog tails are much more manageable, don't have to be shared, and are less likely to be a disastrous, though delicious, mess. Highly recommend but beware long lines!
Brian Hayes
Good stuff, friendly staff. They have dog treats, too!
Carissa Stimpfel
I have eaten a lot a cinnamon buns in my lifetime. This, by FAR and AWAY, was the absolute best. The dough has the perfect amount of chew, the cinnamon isn’t overpowering, none of the dough/sugar and spice mixture/icing is too sweet, and I LOVE that you can add on more icing in a serve-yourself container by all the drink accoutrements. The shop is ridiculously cozy, too, from the heavy wood furniture to the fireplace in the corner— highly recommend it as a great place to hang out on a chilly winter day. The staff was also fantastic; I so appreciated being asked if I wanted an edge or center bun, because there’s a BIG difference! The cost for the size and quality of the bun is a steal. Will definitely be becoming a repeat customer.
Jennifer H.
Their cinnamon rolls are like a heart attack in a box (I don't even want to know how much butter and sugar they put in those) but oh my word they are so freaking amazing. Hands down, the best cinnamon rolls I've ever had. Their scones are very tasty too. You can order online ahead of time too (the day before) which is super convenient. And make sure you get the extra frosting!
Destiny Colville (Date With Destiny)
Super friendly people! Plus, the food is amazing. They're handling the Covid-19 restrictions very well-- only 10 customers allowed inside at a time, masks required by all. There's seating under umbrellas in both the back and the front, though, so you can still enjoy your baked goods there.
Shannon Miles
Food and coffee here are top notch. Buns are enormous - big enough to share. And they always give a generous amount of frosting for the rolls. Puppy dog tails are a great alternative to the giant rolls. Their set up pre-covid was cozy and welcoming. Now, with covid-restrictions, the set up is good (no more than 10 customers inside for lines and hand sanitizer available). Easy to order frozen rolls ahead of time for scheduled pick up. Really love this place. Definitely worth hitting up!
Rod Dirks
Love this place. The workers are fun, friendly, and outgoing. Food is excellent, and this has become a favorite spot when visiting the twin cities. My wife really enjoys the puppy dog tails, and I love the scones and quiches. Prices are ridiculously cheap in a very expensive world.
Aaron Spiegle
Go here for the delicious very large cinnamon and caramel rolls! Don't forget to add extra icing on your way out of the door! I've been twice for that sole reason but noticed many people ordering their fruity baked goods. I'm sure it's all good.
Maria Cote
Best cinnamon roll I have ever had. I try to make myself feel less guilty by taking a stroll around Lake of the Isles afterward. Their baked oatmeal and scones are also amazing. The line down the street on weekend mornings speaks for itself, and the staff keeps things running very efficiently.
Rebecca Renton
Isles Bun & Coffee is an absolute neighborhood gem! So many great pastries, snacks and drinks. The energy is really pleasant and the employees are so kind. During lockdown, getting coffee was often the only IRL social interaction I would have—Isles Bun & Coffee kept me sane!!
Allyson Cygan
Great cinnamon roll - it was big, gooey and delicious, but could have used a tad more frosting. However, the coffee was really disappointing. I got decaf, so I know that's not always popular, but my coffee came lukewarm and with a very strong, unpleasant flavor and smell. Not sure what happened, but it was really offputting and I didn't drink more than a sip. Definitely recommend getting a cinnamon bun but I'd advise against coffee.
Viva B
Puppy dog tails are addictive! I love that they have extra icing on the coffee counter to slather on before bringing your box home. Also, yummy baked goods. Parking can be difficult sometimes as with most places in the city, but I often find myself going out of my way to taste the freshness and warmth of these gourmet cinnamon rolls💖 …
Sam Macalus
The puppy dog tails—which are like elongated cinnamon rolls dipped in cream cheese frosting—are the reason everyone goes here. They are made fresh in the morning and always a hit with co-workers and family. If you have never been to Isles Bun, start with those and a cup of fresh coffee, and you will be set for a pretty fantastic day.
Alfonso Santiago
Beautiful small coffee shop with amazing buns.
Christine Anderson
Sö good. We enjoyed the quiche and cinnamon roll s. The coffee was hot and flavorful. I wish I took a pic of the roll, it's enough to feed 3!
Vaishnavi Soundar
I could meet going back for their cream buns. Very affordable price for a large cream bun, and so freshly made. The staff is polite and ready to help. Despite a large queue they patiently answered some questions I had when I went the first time. The fireplace is lovely especially in the winter mornings, with hot cocoa, bun - it is a great place to sit and work. It does tend to get noisy on the weekends, but the crowd does clear out mid afternoon.
Angelina Castano
Worth waiting in line for very good pastry items. I have tried the puppy dog tails, coffee cake and I LOVE the veggie quiche! I always get a large iced Chai, yum 🤤 …
Austin Wolf
This place is amazing. Very good coffee, legendary, HUGE cinnamon buns. They let you apply as much frosting as you want! Very friendly staff 5/5! My favorite bakery/coffee shop to visit on a weekend morning. Expect a packed sitting area and longer lines on a nice weekend.
keith schulze
Great atmosphere and amazing food, saw them on food network one day and decided to go. The cinnamon rolls are fantastic as well as the puppy dog tails. You can add as much icing as you want. The coffee was just as good plenty of selections
Drew Running
These rolls are so big that you'll have to share it with someone. They have all the breakfast pastries you love. Coffee, espresso, fresh juice and pop available to drink. Lots of variety that makes group orders easy.
Rachel Kaufman
Best cinnamon and caramel rolls I've ever had! Moving out of the area soon, and this will be among the places I miss most. Will definitely be making as many return pilgrimages as possible!
William Anderson
Isles Bun & Coffee has an excellent range of well priced baked goods, hot beverages, and cold drinks. I personally am a big fan of the free extra frosting available to all customers! I have never had a bad experience here, the staff are great and I would highly recommend stopping by!
Matt
Love how everything is fresh. Puppy Dog Tails are my go-to! Warm and fresh and if you order a box they include a side of extra frosting.
Andrew B
Some of the best cinnamon rolls you can ask for. They are massive and they make your mouth water. They even have a frost your own frosting station. Perfect spot to go after a walk around the lake. Highly recommend you won't regret. Best in the twin cities for a scone or cinnamon roll.
Kelsey Halvorsen
Based on customer service alone, I give 5 stars! I came in for my first visit today and the guy at the counter was incredibly helpful. He threw in an extra puppy tail and frosting knowing it was my first time there. I cannot wait to try everything I ordered! I'm already planning my next visit.
Alison Lesperance
Very tasty cinnamon rolls and caramel rolls. Good mochas and cappuccinos as well. I like to get the caramel roll and then top it myself with the cream cheese frosting from the tub of frosting on the counter. Yes, you read that right, there is a tub of cream cheese frosting on the counter for self service! The rolls are enormous, especially for the price. I'd recommended sharing with someone or plan on having some leftovers. Puppy dog tails (smaller triangular version of cinnamon roll) are also available. They have scones and other bakery items as well, including vegan options. Go on a weekday morning-late morning or very early on the weekend, otherwise the line gets very long (especially on holidays- like Mother's Day).
Kim Robinson
I heard about this place as being excellent. Well my puppy dog tails were really dry and hard. After I got home, I tried one and threw the rest out. I'm not sure if it was due to being close to closing time but I felt I wasted my money. If you are willing to sell until closing time, the product should still be edible.
Christina Knudson
The cinnamon roll is to die for. One cinnamon roll is probably three servings. If you want a reasonable amount, get a puppy dog tail.
Jill Rust
Amazing fresh baked rolls and cakes. Great coffee. It was super crowded and difficult to find a table when we went on a Sunday morning, but we'll worth it. Between me and two friends we ate a caramel roll, caramel pecan roll, and 3 puppy dog tails. Would visit often if I lived closer!
Eric Cox
Excellent, excellent pastries and coffee. Truly a can't miss. But like some other reviewers, counter staff is hit or miss. Don't force folks to stand at the counter and watch you have a conversation with some other employee for 30 seconds before you acknowledge them when there's a line. It's a small complaint but it has happened again and again and again.
The food is fantastic but there is a wealth of other options in walking distance with better service which has prevented me from becoming a regular.
Julie Angert
Delicious and huge cinnamon and caramel buns! The coffee was great and the service couldn't be beat. I was also happy with the covid precautions they have taken, with the one way traffic and social distancing.
Ben Hamler
Hands down the best cinnamon buns in Minneapolis! The staff are super friendly and the atmosphere is great. Highly recommend for a delicious breakfast stop.
Ashley Brooke
I love visiting this place on a Saturday/Sunday morning. Their freshly made buns are the best and they are made even better by the fact that you can add extra frosting to them yourself! Last time I was there it looked like they were expanding the space, which they were in dire need of. Very excited for them to have a bigger area to support their loyal patrons and attract new ones!
Corey Butler
Sadness… I remember the cinnamon rolls as having much more cinnamon. Did they cut back? Is this a result of the supply chain crisis? I know things are bad in the world, but can’t we still have cinnamon rolls? Ok they’re still pretty good, but not what they once were. The coffee is still excellent.
Mitch Nelson
Always a favorite!
Lines can be long in the mornings, but it's worth the wait.
Skip the sticky buns and cinnamon rolls to opt for the puppy dog tails, don't forget to grab an extra cup of frosting to make sure you have enough. The coffee is delicious as well, I always opt for grabbing everything to-go and walking down to sit by the lake.
Jared Rolland Witbeck
Massive Cinnamon rolls. Spectacular cream cheese frosting. Good soft and gooey cinnamon in the bread. I'm pretty sure they use brown sugar and cinnamon and plenty of butter. Do it up! Split one if you're two, unless you're a champion get one for yourself. Pretty damn reasonable for the quality and quantity I must say. Go walk it off on the lake afterwards.
John Kablan
Delicious as always. Isles Bun has a pretty simple menu ( cinnamon bun, caramel bun, puppy dog tail, and a couple other things) but that means they do what they do well. My personal favorite is the cinnamon bun. Make sure you get a cup of cream cheese frosting to go with your bun too! If your going on a weekend morning with nice weather expect a line that stretches bout the door and a wait.
Samantha Thode
Super yummy bakery treats and a great place to study. Staff is courtesy. Although there is no parking lot, there is street parking if you don't mind walking a very short distance. If you need to stop by quick they do have paid street parking right outside their shop. I really like the puppy dog tails there. They are like a mini cinnamon roll. Also their coffee cake and baked oatmeal is amazing! If you plan on studying there I wouldn't recommend going there on a Sunday.
Lex Talionis
Great bakery and great coffee. If this place stayed open later than 6, it would have it all. Super busy on weekends, not too bad on weekdays. Puppy dog tails, Caramel rolls, and lots more! I usually stick to the coffee drinks because it's not health food and I come here too often to be buying their food regularly.
Samantha Rose
Best cinnamon rolls in the Twin Cities, and the staff is always so friendly! This is my go-to place to bring out-of-town friends and family, or just as a lazy Saturday treat for myself. 🥐 …
Ashley Goebel
The simple fact that I can add a bit more frosting on my own makes this place my favorite. We have been here a couple of times and I've just gotten the puppy tails and hubs usually gets a Carmel roll everything else looks beyond good I cant wait to go back and adventure on to some other goodies
Jacob Wilson
Very cute, snug sidewalk bakery with nice outdoor seating available. Decent baked goods, the famed puppy dog almost lived up to the hype, but in all honesty it was a bit bread-y. Meaning, it wasn't the most seasoned or sweetened thing in the world. I bit into it and tasted a very thick, extra-consistent and puffy bread with cinnamon and frosting (which is a good cream cheese recipe). I understand not everyone is as thorough a critic as I am, so I understand how ppl love to give this cute bakery 5 stars. A perfect cinnamon roll for me (sweetened, seasoned, and baked very thoroughly), however, the puppy dog is not.
Chris Karson
This was the best scone I've ever had. No exaggeration!
Caden Skinner
As a lover of cinnamon rolls. This is the best place in the twin cities to get one. Their puppy dog tails are also delectable if you aren't quite ready to talk on a full roll
Haley Holiman
Placed an online order and had it delivered to my boyfriend as a suprise gift since I am working out of state. Online ordering was super easy, it was delivered on time and he said the cinnamon rolls were amazing! Thanks again
Jeremy W
Cinnamon roll was amazing. Coffee was average. Service was polite and efficient. Well worth the trip for the roll.
Allie Hoffmeister
Best cinnamon buns and coffee cake I've ever had!
Michelle Conklin
Omfg. There is a DIY frosting center for your cinnamon roll and I just think that concept is beautiful. It's more beautiful in practice, I promise. I can't drive by this place without getting a piece of their carrot cake. So sometimes I leave with a cinnamon roll and carrot cake. And that is my dinner. No regrets.
Mike DiScala
Nice coffee shop that recently added some needed space. While it isn't my go to for coffee specifically, they make puppy dog tails (think reasonably sized cinnamon roll that is hot dog shaped and the best thing ever) and when paired with a coffee, it's gold. Really good other baked goods, too. Grab one (or three) and walk Isles!
George Daniel
I went on a Saturday morning around 10AM, and it was PACKED—for good reason. Everything about Isles Bun & Coffee was dynamite. Spoiler alert: when you order one of their famous cinnamon buns, you get to frost your hot buns with as much icing as you want.
The fresh squeezed OJ was amazing; the coffee was hot.
If you're in the Minneapolis area, it's worth a trip. Despite it being packed, the line moved quickly and we had our food within five to 10 minutes of walking in. So grab some buns, grab some coffees, and enjoy the Lake of the Isles neighbourhood.
Caroline Anaya
This hidden gem has the best cinnamon rolls I've ever tasted. My favorite part is that they set out a tub of unlimited icing for you to pile on to your liking. The small bakery gets packed on a Saturday morning with a line out the door. It's a perfect place to have a baked good and a cup of coffee to start off your weekend, and seating alwasys seems to open up on their front sidewalk area.
The staff was really speedy and even offered my brother a free puppy tail so he could try it out for the first time.
It's super close to the Hennepin area of Uptown and the Lake of the Isles are if you want to walk off your delicious breakfast.
Noah H
Isles is THE go-to place for sweet buns and pastries. Their puppy dog tails are what they're famous for, but their buns and cakes are equally divine. Plus, their coffee is excellent. I've gone into too many bakeries to find they serve terrible coffee.
Pro tip: get there before 8:30 and beat the rush, especially on the weekends. If you think you can just roll out of bed after 9 and grab a quick pastry, think again—be prepared to wait in line. (Of course, the wait is worth it, so you'll still leave a winner.)
Hans Loven
Outstanding pastries, from a real bakery! Fun to watch them work while you wait, with their ginormous mixers--one pink, one in John Deere livery. So, so, so delicious! In particular, the cinnamon rolls and drop scones are superb. My only gripe--and this is small--is that the scones are on rotation; so, you never know which it will be.
Katarzyna Fahey
Best cinnamon buns in the Twin Cities. The puppy dog tails are worth the trip alone. They let you slather them with as much frosting as you want. The espresso drinks are also great.
Rebecca Goldsteen
First time here and my boyfriend and I asked what the Puppy Dog Tails are. The woman working told us that they are made from the same batter as the buns. She asked is it was our first time here and when we said yes, she insisted on giving us 2 Puppy Dog Tails for free. Great coffee, great sweet treats, great environment and great service.
Matt Palm
Arguably one of the best if not the best choice cinnamon buns out there. I'm a big fan of cinnamon buns and these are my favorite, they are made fresh, taste amazing, and are a good value for the price. Extra frosting is free (unlike Cinnabon). The buns are also better than Cinnabon because they taste more home made and are much fluffier and aren't so dense.
Pro tip: if it is peak hours, call and make sure they have enough buns ready, they go fast, especially if someone walks in and orders 12-24 to go without calling in advanced, otherwise you'll be waiting 20 min. (It's worth the wait though!!).
Noah Kreider Carlson
Awesome customer service, pastries and coffee. Always something new!
Tippy T.
Nice little coffee shop that serves fresh and HUGE cinnamon rolls, other various pastries, coffee, tea, and also fresh orange juice. Plus it's super affordable and dog friendly. The staff are friendly too. Definitely will be returning again and again.
Susan
Oh my...the baked goods are all scrum dillyicious! The staff are super friendly and very accommodating. Looks like they've done a few things on the interior, but could still use a few more touches to make it a good spot to sit and enjoy your pupoy dog tails. Wonderful little place if you have a sweet tooth for pastries!
Nicholas Landrum
Everything is great here, but the vegan scones are really pretty amazing. I’ve been back weekly (or more) since I had my first a month ago. Staff is also incredibly nice and friendly.
Michael Hughes
Three words: Puppy Dog Tails. I would go there every morning if my waist line would allow it.
Chris Mongeon
This place probably has the best cinnamon rolls in the twin cities. I go there frequently. However, I stopped by to pick up six rolls for an office gathering this morning and was completely shamed by the staff. It was terrible and unacceptable. They wanted me to call ahead next time with a large order (Which is fine.. I understand they are a small shop) but the way it was handled was awful. So much so that I'm not sure if I'll go back. The rolls = 5 stars ... The counter staff = 1 star.
Natalie Hopkins
I love this place. It is the perfect little bakery to hit up on the weekends or to grab something to take to your co-workers. The baked goods are excellent and I have never had a bad experience. My only advice in to arrive early so you don’t have to wait in line.
kiran leonard
This is a wonderful bakery in Minneapolis and has the best cinnamon rolls! Also, the puppy dog tails are amazing and very moorish! The perfect place for a wonderful treat!
Matthew Muhlenkort
Massive homemade cinnamon rolls!!! Why are you still reading this? They make amazing giant freshly baked cinnamon rolls that you can order by the half dozen. You can literally take home a whole tray of cinnamon Rolls with a cup of icing to ensure your next trip will be to the dentist. 😁 …
Sivaram Chinta
Isles is one of our all time favorite places for many years now. Its part of our autumn weekend early morning breakfast experience. We love to wake up early and go out in the chilly weather to explore new breakfast joints for some hot breakfast and beverage. We hit Isles twice or thrice in the season every year.
Derek Elliott
Impressive-looking cinnamon rolls & sticky buns, but their schtick seems to be "look how huge they are!". They'd be much better with the same amount of toppings and half the dough. Paper plates & plastic forks not the best tools for giant dough mounds. Very nice & unique scones (blueberry/peach, cranberry/date/walnut, & pineapple/ginger). Go with the sm latte..lg seemed a little watered down.
Neil Franzen
The cinnamon bun was gigantic, but a bit too much bread and not enough frosting. I later found out that the frosting is a self-applied option, and realized people were carrying out cups full of frosting (some without any accompanying bakery). The puppy dog tail might be the ticket, as it's a slimmer piece of pastry. The coffee and outdoor seating on the sidewalk sealed the deal.
Nicole Wandtke
One of my favorite bakeries/coffee shops in Minneapolis! Staff is awesome here.
Jake Sheehan
So I'd consider myself a cinnamon roll connoisseur and these are without a doubt, hands down, THE best cinnamon rolls in the world. Technically, they aren't cinnamon rolls. I'm talking about the puppy dog tails. Ohhhh yes. The 6 inch cinnamon twists from heaven. I laugh when I go to a restaurant and they tell me that their cinnamon rolls are amazing. Nothing compares to these. When I used to bike to work it was right on my way and it got really bad for a while. I was eating 3-4 of these puppies 3 times a week. At least I was biking but man, truly amazing.
Pro tip: Pick up 2 dozen of these and bring em into your office. You will be a hero, like I did today.
Emily Pirkl
My dad used to bring home a box of Isles' puppy dog tails for breakfast when I was little- years later, I can confirm that they are just as tasty now as they were then!
It looks like they recently made the shop bigger, too, which is really nice because now you can definitely find a place to sit.
Samuel Parker
A bit pricey, but some of the best cinnamon and caramel rolls south of Toby's. Coffee is meh. Parking can be tough, but worth the effort. The staff are great...I treat myself here a couple of times a year. Check it out!
Michael Bernhagen
Formerly my go-to morning treat spot for coworker surprises or just to grab a treat occasionally, but not after the remodel. Not much has changed from a product perspective (puppy tails are still good, coffee is still not), but the new space has to be one of the worst space expansions ever. Dull space with zero charm or character and cheap finishes ruined what was a snug, unique adventure. I just don't go anymore.
Emileigh Stoll
If loving this cinnamon roll is wrong, I don't want to be right! Great pastries, great coffee, great times 🙂 …
Patrick Huber
Amazing (and huge) cinnamon rolls with delicious icing on top, and super friendly staff. Highly recommend checking out. Be prepared for a wait on the weekends as this place is very popular.
Sean Keene
Top notch puppy dog tails, cinnamon rolls and pecan rolls. Excellent coffee too. Get there early to avoid the inevitable line.
D Hampton
Always traffic at this location because of how good the snacks are. if your in uptown definitely stop by and give this place a try.
Monica w
This is my favorite bakery in the cities, and I'm pretty difficult to please when it comes to baked goods. Everything I've sampled has been moist and flavorful. They've recently expanded their seating area too, so you don't have to just do take out.
Alexandra Shannon
This place was recommended to me by a friend when I first moved to Mpls and it has quickly become a favorite stopover for desserts and coffees. All the pastries are delicious and I have spent many days working in their cafe, and seen others doing the same. Not necessarily a quiet place though, so bring headphones if that bothers you.
jennifer sippel
i would wait in line for 45 minutes (as i did on mother's day) just to get some of their delicious pastries. that is how much i love this place! their frosting is sooooooo good. i buy the scones as a delivery mechanism for the frosting!
Steve Huot
Guilty pleasure all the way! Puppy dog tails with extra frosting.
New question: From another reply I see you have frozen tails and rolls. Yum, I will get some! Do you also sell the frosting?
Henry May
Gotta have the puppy dog tails. Not enough frosting for you? There's a whole pan full by the Napkins and creamer.
Anthony Cherek
Love the cinnamon buns and coffee! It's a lovely weekend treat - just be prepared to wait if you go on the morning sometimes because it seems everyone knows how great this place is.
Laura Marass
I go annually for my birthday but would be there weekly or more if I didn't give myself limits! A cinnamon roll and coffee every time. And maybe a scone for later. They're ALL excellent!
Spencer C.
Really enjoyed this place. First coffee shop we went to when visiting from Ohio. Great coffee, gracious workers, and amazing cinnamon rolls. Don't think we need to look any further. This will for sure be a go-to stop next time we're in town.
kelly bauer
Went to get a cinnamon roll, oh my gosh! The best! And to make them even better...they have a tub of frosting just so you can add more frosting yourself! The young man that served me was genuinely kind! I will be back over and over!
CoryAnn K
Seriously made my day today by this cafe and bakery. My car got hit right outside, and it was right after a tough day of work at the hospital. I went in to order a tea and they gave it to me on the house after seeing me deal with the other driver outside for a long time. Seriously made my day. Not to mention, this place is absolutely delicious. You should definitely check it out if you haven't been there.
Bruno San Roman
Best Cinnamon buns I've had!
Emily Ellenberger
Large selection of baked goods for everyone to enjoy. The puppy do tails are one of my favorites. They also have great coffee.
Monique Schmitt
First time there today with my friend and it felt like something out of a movie or storybook. Cute cafe, people chatting, a friendly dog named Joe walks up to say hi & patiently waits for his master. And the puppy dog tails were delicious!
Definitely coming back.
Isaac M
Good coffee, and I don't think I've ever had a latte prepared so quickly before! Didn't get the caramel rolls this time around, but they're delicious!
Ronald Ramsdell
Visited today for the first time in many years. Awesome cinnamon buns, puppy dog tails and great fun staff and store. Love the Latin tunes that were playing! Keep the vibe going! See u again soon!!
clara counts
GREAT atmosphere. The workers were friendly and clearly master's of their craft. There is extra frosting for optimum deliciousness. 10 out if 10 would recommend!
Chris Lance
A scone craving led me here this morning. I purchased a Ginger Plum Apple and I dare say it was the best scone that has ever passed these lips. And it was vegan to boot!
Neal Lewandowski
The berry tart was delizhiz. The everyday magic (yes, it is magic) of caramel rolls, pecan rolls, IN ADDITION to cinammon rolls are fantabulous. In case you are not into poofy - delicious - pastry and prefer to biscotti yummies, they ALSO have you COVERED. If you want access to thinner, cheaper rolls, you might find Little Debbie cakes better for you. The rolls and confections at Isles <= (don't forget the 's') are for full-on-fans of taste with accompaniment of "oooh!" and "wow!". I'm not kidding...they are THAT good. Full
Coffee services avail, also.
Marcus Newton
I LOVE this place. I bring every visitor in for a puppy dog tail and walk around the lakes. The people complaining about the frosting volume clearly did not notice the giant tub to the side where you can supplement.
migi Patel
amazing food, the buns were soooo good and fresh and it was a nice place to sit and read :)
Paul Martin
Love this place. My wife and I come here religiously. If not for the cinnamon rolls, for the incredible coffee and lattes. The atmosphere is amazing. It's a must stop, but on a busy Saturday morning, be prepared to wait in line on the sidewalk.
jeremy Todd
Fantastic fresh hot buns! Endless frosting is really nice perk. Everything was tasty, fresh, and served warm. Service was very friendly and prompt. Would highly recommended.
Keenan Olson
Parking is rough but it's soooo worth it! Get puppy tails. You will not regret it. They are absolutely delicious. Possibly the best breakfast treat in Minneapolis.
Snow Farmer
Great food! - Best bread in town. Mmmmm, I want another puppy dog tail.
You can also order frozen Quiches. (recommended)
J E
Super nice staff. I especially love the main Baker person. I had to get a delivery for our store once and he offered some bakery items before I had to get our things back to our store. Super friendly and I wish I took that offer because I declined since I was in a hurry.
Brandon
Amazing food, and the coffee is great!!
Colette Welch
Love 💘 love this staple! Puppy dog tails w/extra schmear.. What's left to say? Everything is fresh you can smell the deliciousness in the air!! 😋 …
Tyler Hinrichs
A go-to for cinnamon rolls. My son loves the puppy dog tails. Nice and close to lake of the isles for a scenic walk when the weather is warm.
Jeff Orgel
Love the rolls and other treats but the shaming by the counter staff is awful. If you want several rolls they roll their eyes and make comments about not pre ordering even if you only want 3 or 4. This has happened on more than one occasion and is annoying. Don't you want our patronage? Diminishes their reputation. Rolls are a five star. Counter staff is a 1 star.
Jordan Cole
Can't go wrong with anything here. Great coffee and even better buns. Caramel roll and the pecan rolls are my favorites.
Mark French
Great fresh baked food and coffee with quick service and some indoor some outdoor seating
Davin Clarke
OMG was their stuff amazing!!
James Henderson
Long lines to get early on weekends (closed on Mondays) but worth it.
Sarah Waid
Amazing baked goods, and great coffee. I think they have one of the best mochas in town. Everyone on staff is super sweet and helpful. 10/10 would recommend.
Kathy Tran
Best puppy dog tails (cinnamon roll twists) and coffee in the city! I just had an almond milk latte too and it was better th han Starbucks!
SheerLuck
The cinnamon rolls were humongous! Great prices too!
Patrick Wagner
We came for their amazing coffee cake but due to Covid they were closed. We were about drive off ,when a Gentleman who may have been owner or manager flagged us down. He explained covid had changed their hours and was thankful for our stopping by then went inside and got us a few pieces of coffee cake and refused to take our MONEY! We will certainly return to this great Cafe and amazing bakery.
Please take a moment to visit and try anything you WON'T BE DISAPPOINTED.
Thank you again Isle! We enjoy your goodies and artisan goods!
Jason Daniels
Amazing bakery and the serve-yourself frosting is, dare I say it, icing on the cake. Good coffee. Be prepared to wait in line if you come by here on the weekend.
Jaime Medina
Three words: Puppy Dog Tails. Make sure you get the dipping cream with it (free), but you could easily consume a handful of these delicious sweet treats... Then another handful more. Grab a half dozen and take a walk around Lake of the Isles :)
M K
Walked from lake of the isles because we saw so many people walking around the lake with their drinks! Tried the puppy dog tails, totally delicious, ask for extra icing!!!
Nicole Rath
Pastries like you wish your mom made. Out of this world! Try a puppy dog tail—you'll be dreaming of it for weeks. The only downside is long lines and ok coffee. But if you want a pastry, this is THE PLACE!
Christopher Newman
So worth the long long line, which does move pretty quickly. Grab a puppy tail, and a coffee cake, and a coffee, then head over for a beautiful walk around the lake. We live an hour away and make this the start to our Day Date.
Natalya Lake
Visit at your own risk because you will be addicted! We like the puppy dog tails over the big buns and the scones are to die for as well! Grab some tails, coffee, and walk to the lake which is only a few blocks away.
Jeff Jasper
Love the puppy dog tails and the recent renovation adding more indoor seating!
Cathy Bauer

Enjoyed it a lot! Had great freshly made cinnamon rolls, coffee was delicious, and the whole atmosphere was very enjoyable! Will be recommending to friends in the future!
Shannon Smith
I love isles buns. One thing that they do that I love is have extra frosting and butter available. The rolls are fresh out of the oven warm. Yum!
Revanth Talari
Their cinnamon rolls are the best. We have only been here during the weekends. There is usually a line at the counter but totally worth it.
Oz Me
Once again good coffee, but more importantly it was Sunday afternoon and they were still taking goodies out of the oven. Excellent scones!

Sonja Super
The best cinnamon rolls ever. Okay maybe it's really the bucket of frosting the put on the counter. The most amazing frosting!
Veselin Trifonov
Nice coffee shop and delicious cakes.
Bita M
Their stuff is good and fresh, but the problem is that they are all TOO much sweet!! I recommend considering the taste of people who like buns and rolls less sweet.
Leticia Meyer
Staff so is friendlyyou can bring your dog and which is very convenient when you're just going for a walk and want to get a coffee. Always love the snacks and baked goods
Barrett Wiberg
Long lines, but those warm gooey buns are well worth the wait! Not to mention the coffee was superb. Highly recommend

First time and it was absolutely 100% incredible along with one of the best customer service experiences i’ve had recently. Get a “dog tail”. They provide extra frosting at your convenience.

The cinnamon buns are huge. There is extra frosting you can add to your items. Everything was very good!

Any week day it's a wonderful place to be. Love the raspberry-hibiscus tea. Just don't go on a Saturday if you don't have 30 minutes to wait in line.
Andrew Zabel

Bright, sunlit interior, oldies music, fine heavy-wooden seats and tables, reasonable coffee prices ($2.25 double espresso) with a couple comfortable sitting chairs.
Ashley Morrison
Always love Isles Bun! Delicious bakery, Jeff the owner is always a delight, and prices are great! Highly recommend.

Kat Lillvis
What a classic, coming here on a Sunday morning should be a rite of passage for people living in this neighborhood. The sticky buns are enormous and always warm! The line is well worth the wait, people watching at its finest.
Darby Voeks
This place is the best. The only flaw with IBC is the music. It is alllllll over the place and so loud. Crazy genres and different moods. I always ask them to turn it down and it never works. In summary, Consumers: go to IBC. It is the best ever. IBC: turn down your crazy sporadic music.
Zain Mueller
Best food I have ever eaten! Also they gave me a free shirt for my birthday because I drove from Iowa to get there food.
Kenneth Harden
When you walk in for the first time, your first thought will be to run away. You see a small display case with only a small handful of good for sale. BUT - there is a reason for this. They focus on quality over quantity - and ALL of it is great. I stumbled in here by chance (and seeing the reviews - I was 2 blocks away), and I will go out of my way to come back.
R
The cinnamon rolls are our of this world!
Daniel Magner
If you like cinnamon rolls, you will like this place because they serve good cinnamon rolls here. The coffee here is good as well.
