Bogart’s is the best! We took out of town folks to Bogart’s for a morning donut run today. Their coffee was strong and delightful. We got the sampler box (seven donuts to share between four people was perfect). If you have a sweet tooth, the vanilla custard donut is to die for. If you prefer subtle sweetness, the brown butter donut is fluffy, chewy, and not overly sweet. Their yeast donuts remind me of brioche or a croissant. I loved how chocolate-y the chocolate cake donut was. Love this place.

Enjoyed coming here on a chilly day. Got the variety pack for $18 ish which came with all the best sellers (7 donuts in total). These Donuts are very fresh. Light fluffy. I love that they are not tooth aching sweet.

The chocolate cake and Cinnamon glazed donuts were great. The Cinnamon glazed donut was huge, bigger than my hand. The brown butter frosted donut was big and fluffy, but had way too much icing for me. Half that amount of icing would be so much better.

Plan to take the doughnuts to go, as this is a very small shop which is not currently allowing folks in the door. The donuts we tried - vanilla bean cream and Nutella - were huge and very bready in consistency. The vanilla cream filling was light and delicious, but the Nutella was just straight from the jar and made a dense donut just too much. Next time it would be a glazed item for me.

After living in mpls for years and years I finally made it over to Bogart's in person and this may become a dangerous habit. I love the simple, clean, and old school decor of the tiny shop. The staff were all fantastic- efficient yet friendly. And the donuts are to die for of course. I can't get over the chewy eggy texture of the yeast donuts, almost like a crepe met a donut. There's a reason the brown butter frosting donuts are famous- it lends the perfect amount of sweet rich flavor to the more savory donut itself. I thought the coffee was particularly tasty as well; probably better than they need to have but very welcome

Cute little shop. No table or chairs so you take them to go. I tried the cinnamon roll which was very delicious. It was more of an airy bread cinnamon roll and very large.

Always a good spot for a fluffy, lite and airy doughnut. Also a good cold brew to pair. Their doughnut holes to me lack a bit and there's better options instead. The brown butter is a must here and even if you don't think you like nutella, get it. The stuffed vanilla was too lite for me in flavor.

I was very excited for their Nutella Donut, I was very disappointed when I got a chance to try it. They looked very delicious, huge sugared donuts, when I tried them, it was more of a sour dough taste, dry and ½ of it was filled with vanilla pudding. I’m not sure if it’s supposed to be ½ vanilla ½ Nutella but yes, I was sad about them not tasting like actual Nutella when it was almost $5 per donut.

If Bakers Wife has the best cake doughnuts in Minneapolis, these are the best raised. The brown butter glaze is absolutely delicious and the dough itself isn’t too sweet. Disregard the over-hyping of Glam Doll (which has served me raw dough — twice!) and go here for your fancy doughnuts. My only quibble is that the portion sizes are so large.

Not like a usual donut shop you think of. Probably because the donuts are like clouds; they’re so airy and soft and not rich. They’re also made big so for the price of 1 donut it’s like you’re getting 2. I wonder how they get them to the perfect texture they’ve created. Amazing donuts, solid cold-brew coffee, cute date spot, local business that is well worth supporting. They open nice and early, but close as soon as their donuts sell out (they sell out every day). The best donut is their browned butter glazed. Otherwise, they have fun specials most days. Not a place for millennial fancy-looking donuts, but D*MN they taste good, and you can tell they're baked with love. Update: they now have soft-serve ice cream! I believe the best flavor is the brown butter. They also have "soft serve happy hour" - after 1pm they give you a donut for free with each soft serve!

Not what they used to be. Vanilla cream used to be my favorite but now the cream tastes like store bought filling. And the donuts became huge, with little filling as you can see. Bring back the old yummy donuts with the yummy vanilla cream.

I do love the doughnuts here. I do hate that I have to go in their busy/tiny/poorly setup shop to get them. I do like the staff. I do not like the parking. I do think they have the best quality doughnuts in the metro. I do not think you should buy them from co-ops in the area. For real though, these are LEGIT good and different doughnuts from what you’d see anywhere else. If you’re from out of town, try to stop here before any other pastry shop.

Our favorite doughnuts in Minneapolis. Nothing too fancy, all about high quality and great taste. Their cake doughnuts and raised doughnuts are really unique plus they have ice cream and coffee! We've always had a great experience with Bogart's and love introducing this place to more people whenever we get the chance.

If there’s a way they can make a better fried ring of dough or cup of coffee I haven’t found it . No mercy for the dieter here , the Vanilla bean butter cream is hands down the best I’ve ever eaten but the butter cream is REAL butter and sugar whipped …. One word review ? YUM

Cute little shop just off of the lake that we were able to go up and place our order with a staff member outside and we got our donuts quickly. Staff was very nice. We got a brown butter donut (right) and a vanilla bean filled (left) and a nutella (not shown). The donuts were bigger than expected and for city prices, they cannot be beat. It would definitely be something I would go get for friends coming to visit. When the weather is nice, getting these and going to walk around the lake is a good way to spend the morning. We will be coming back again to try the other selection of donuts!

We bought cake donuts, a nutella filled and a vanilla cream filled, and 2 dishes of ice cream. Everything was good except the vanilla filled, which had very little filling. That's unusual, as usually there is filling squishing out with the first bite. The ice cream/soft serve was delicious, tasted like browned butter.

Best. Old fashioned doughnuts in the cities. PERIOD! For reasons I am actively investigating, Minneapolis seriously struggles to keep truly great doughnut shops around. This is a great doughnut shop. Do they have the biggest broadest selection? No. However, if you want the best old fashioned doughnut in the cities? You need to go to Bogart's. You want a classic raised glazed? Shut up and go here. Bogart's is so so good, and I'm concerned that you Minnesotans don't realize it. So stop being dumb, get yourself to Bogart's now, you can thank me by going again another time.

Bogart's has been serving the best donuts and cold press coffee in the Cities for years now. I couldn't recommend it more! If you're feeling a little adventurous, try out any of their number of specialty donuts -- but their classic raised glazed is pure perfection.

Bogarts was very enjoyable. The brioche dough based donuts are very tasty and large. You will not go away hungry if you order just one or two. Selection is somewhat limited and once sold out, that’s it (at least for the yeast donuts.) The shop is charming but small. A counter is available to fix coffee and stand and eat, but 6 people is a crowd. The lady that served us was wonderfully friendly, exactly the kind of person you’d want to meet in the morning when you’re ordering a treat. I would definitely enjoy another trip to this location.

Great little shop to get your doughnut cravings met. Have a variety of flavors, but the vanilla bean is the best imo. There's parking next to the building, else you will have to park off street. Come there early as they can sell out!

A few varieties, done exceptionally well. The brioche dough makes for a light, fluffy donut, and the decadent fillings/glazes are a perfect contrast. One of the Nutella-filled donuts is enough for you, unless you are an offensive lineman, Tom Hanks just off the island, or a glutton for punishment (as well as just a glutton). The line for orders is well-deserved, and despite being around only since 2014, Bogarts feels like a community institution.

Always perfection. I tasted these donuts at a pop up maybe 10 or 11 years ago and thought about them for 2 years until the shop opened. We served the brown butter glazed instead of cake at our wedding and 8 years later I still get asked about them. Order ahead online if you don’t like waiting in lines.

I've had Bogart's in Keg & Case and figured it was time to check out the original. The place is super small, it's safe to assume you're taking the donuts to go. If it's a weekend go early, they are going to be sold out of most donuts by 12. Great donuts, wish they had more in stock.

This is my favorite donut shop in the city. Sure you're not going to get some super wide variety of Barrel-aged-infused-hipster donuts, but the five or six they do have each day are going to be the best in town. Pit their glazed or cake against anyone in a blind test and I'd put money down on Bogart's! Just ask my Mastiff what he thinks of the Nutella donut :)

I love to support local but I feel as though the donuts were a little overpriced..I got a dozen for my mechanic staff for fixing my car up and it was about $26…and they were pretty stale/dry (it was around 1pm). Overall would like to try them earlier in the day when fresher.

Good: The fillings/frostings use high quality ingredients (vanilla beans vs. vanilla extract). The dough was just right - slightly crisp exterior, not too airy, not too dense. Needs improvement: Dough proof times. The dough was definitely proofed for 30-45 minutes too long prior to frying and has a distinct yeasty taste and smell. This was only an issue in the filled donuts. Overall good donuts that use high quality ingredients, but has (addressable) flaws. I will be coming back.

These are some good Donuts!!! Are huge fluffy and they are made fresh, if you have a favorite flavor get there early before they sell out!!!! The brown butter one was my salty, sweet with a butterscotch taste. Their staff was so friendly I will make another trip real soon.

I have no idea how anyone has rated this anything but 5/5 stars. I LOVE donuts and will eat any donut in front of me, but I also know an excellent donut when I have one. And these are exceptional. Got the brown butter and lavender, and they're both heavenly. Not too sweet and bot have strong, authentic flavors. Don't listen to the folks who have had bad experiences—go get Bogart's.

Finally made way here to try the brown butter soft serve and it did not disappoint. We got lucky and they still had some donuts and they were fresh and tasty. Be prepared to call the number on the door to place your order. Keep up the good work!

Best donut I've ever had, super doughy and wonderful flavors. We tried the brown butter and vanilla bean buttercream which was like half buttercream, half custard and was so perfect, never had anything like it before. Huge size and a good value. Best donuts I've ever had!! Completely ruined me for grocery store donuts. Ever heard of the world famous Voodoo Donut in Portland, OR? I've had them both multiple times and Bogart blows them completely out of the water. Brown Butter is my favorite, and their Vanilla Creme is the best filled donut I've ever eaten. Expect a line, but it's worth the wait. Get there early, as they do sell out.

We got some sort of vanilla buttercream donut, and it may be one of the best donuts we've ever had in our lives. She still talking about that donut... And that was from hours and hours ago. The raised donuts are huge and the browned butter donut is a must try. An employee talked me into the horchata cake donut and it was so good! They've set up "display window" so you select what you want from outside with the help of an employee with an iPad and then pay with a quick tap of your card - then someone brings out your order. Is donut-making an art? Doubtless it is a craft that occasionally yields results of true achievement and beauty. I personally know several donut-makers who think of their donuts as tiny, ephemeral works of art, but it is important to note that they also say the apprenticeship takes a lifetime. Only after devoting themselves to their craft for 20 years did they begin to produce truly fine donuts. At some undisclosed moment not so long ago, a man with an engorged wallet tasted one of those transcendent donuts and thought to himself, "I could do this." He found the right location, hired the right people, and opened the right shop. Consumers went wild. "Who would think to use a brûlée torch on a glazed raised?" "Do I detect lavender in the filling?" "These are decadent! I must eat broccoli in penance." He's still in the business, and he's doing quite well. A local paper used the word "artist" in a review, and I asked how he felt about that. For just a moment, his face permitted a glimpse of the truth in what he was about to say, but then he smiled proudly and said, "There are no shortcuts." There are no shortcuts. Everything about Bogart's—the space, the donuts, and the staff—strikes me as far too concerned with being winsome. But I will keep eating their donuts because the one thing I do sense as real and true about Bogart's is their commitment. I sincerely look forward to eating there 20 years from now. If they stick with it, the Twin Cities may go down in history as home to one of the true masters of donuts.

Delicious – if over the top sometimes. The signature puffy, brioche donuts are so big and rich that you might want to bring a friend. Service remains friendly through pandemic precautions. Look for special flavors like lavender, coffee, and brown butter.

As of February 8th, you don’t go inside the shop and instead pay and select your donuts and coffee outside otherwise you can place an online order to pick up. Always friendly service. BEST donuts i've had in Minnesota, and i've had A LOT of donuts in this sweet state. The vanilla bean donut is pure perfection. The vanilla bean cream is not too sweet, but it's super thick and creamy. The sweetness from the sugar on the outside makes this donut absolutely amazing. Also the maple butter (I think that's what it's called) is amazing!!! The staff is ALWAYS so friendly. I had the worst morning one day and walked in and said "I'll take one of each" and he was totally nice about it!! I've been to other donut shops where I feel judged or uncomfortable (like glam doll), but this one the staff makes you feel like you're actually contributing money into something great! It's a tiny hidden gem in uptown! Must visit!

All other times have been good, but this time they ran out of donuts for the soft serve donuts. So I just got the soft serve with no donut. It's kind of ridiculous that when they run out your given the soft serve in a tiny cup for only a dollar less. Wouldn't recommend that, especially if they run out of donuts, but everything else I can recommend.

love these donuts! this is a top tier donut shop within the twin cities. brioche buns are great, the brown butter donut is my all time favorite. also highly recommend the nutella filled donut. if you like cake donuts the chocolate cake donut is also great. always a treat when i can go here

Great donuts little expensive also there was no variety choices. I like strawberry, cheese cake the only filling i got was chocolate and vanilla which was NOT MY FAVORITE. I will highly recommend that they have more variety aa they used to. Also I went 8.00 am and i had to wait 5 minutes to get the filling and to cool down which is a waist of time. The reason i gave 4 stars they used to be quick and used to have more variety. I will not consider again if this doesn't properly addressed.

First time getting a donut here. We pass Bogart's on our Saturday ride, but they've always been closed when we pass; already sold the days wares. Today they were open, so we dropped by. Good decision! I had the regular glazed. Wow! That's a donut as a donut should be. Huge and airy with just the right amount of flavor, both in the donut itself and the glazing. Very impressed, and I will be visiting again (and again, and again, and ....). ;)

Probably the best donut we had in a long time. Buttercream Vanilla was awesome though I wish they offered a plain donut without glaze or filling. Option to preorder online which is much appreciated as they sell out quickly. Even though they are open until 3pm on the weekend, the good donuts may be sold out by 1030am.

These are the best donuts in Minneapolis. If you’re visiting and want to try a real local gem, this is it. I won’t name names, but I prefer it significantly to some other diva donut dealers in town. Bogart’s is an unpretentious little shop in an unassuming neighbourhood. The lavender donuts are insane, as are every other donut. I return for the chocolate donut though. There’s something about that dark, rich chocolaty-ness that’s dynamite. Hot coffee, too, so that’s a win-win-win situation there.

Visit them when they are at their stand inside the IDS building’s Crystal Court too! They were sooo popular during the lead-up to the Super Bowl when it was hosted here they frequently ran out of coffee and donuts!

I visit bogarts often but they are some of the most expensive donuts around. For a dozen cake donuts you are looking at almost 30 bucks with tip. The cinnamon apple are great, but once a year sort of thing, not on my way to work sort of thing. An 8 ounce drip coffee will run ya 2 bucks plus tax, so bring your own, but its fresh. The ambience isnt much, and it's more of a grab a bite and head home for when your family/partner wake up than a date or outing. Quality : 5 Cost : 1 Speed : 3

Bought a selection to bring to a team that gets taken for granted way too much. It's a strange and clever experience where you stay outside and someone comes out with a tablet to take your order, and another to deliver. They also have a donut/soft-serve sandwich kinda thing that I may need to try.

Four stars for the brown butter glaze and lavender cake donuts. The nutella is good but just too much for me for how much donut surrounds it. I stick with the basic donuts because it's their wheelhouse, IMO. Good local coffee that I believe is roasted with their donuts in mind (I prefer darker roast so I often get an espresso beverage but coffee is good). Dont expect to stay as there's no seating other than one bar along the front window with a few stools. Also get there early as the good stuff goes quick!

Best doughnuts I've ever had hands down. Yes they are more savory than sweet but that's what makes them so good. Their brown butter is my favorite with sweet icing and airy brioche dough. And yes they are a little more expensive than ones at gas stations and grocery stores but they aren't even comparable to those. And let's be honest it's not like you're buying them everyday so you're not going to go broke spending an extra dollar on a premium treat.

Price was okay (about 2-3 dollars per donut) but not great, and donuts were also okay but not great. Tasted the chocolate cake donut, vanilla cake donut, and chocolate ganache donut and would say that they were all a bit dry but edible. I wouldn't suggest this place as a top donut spot, but wouldn't suggest that you avoid it either.

My favourite doughnut shop in the Twin Cities. They only have around seven or eight kinds any given day, but they're all fantastic. The sprinkle cake doughnut is as close to perfect as it can get - tender, moist, and exactly enough glaze to keep the sprinkles on, but no more. Highly recommend if you're into refined simplicity.

Simply great donuts. It's a small shop and there is often a wait on the weekends, but the line moves pretty quickly--typically a five minute wait or less when I've gone there. In addition to donuts, there's coffee/milk/juice. Prices are reasonable and the shop is bright and clean. Try the lavender donuts or the vanilla bean buttercream. There's a small outdoor seating area and currently a Nice Ride station right there too.

I've gone to Bogart's a few times and have to say that of the limited selection, I enjoy the brown butter doughnut the most. For the price, not amazed by the products overall. I think the brown butter doughnut is their winner and probably keeps many coming back. That being said, I try to patronize local biz when I can, but I had an experience there a few months back that made a bad impression. It was an early morning and I was in the area so I decided to stock up on some doughnuts. There were several bags on a table outside and no one around. I got a young lady's attention and she came out and asked if I needed something. I told her what I wanted and she said she couldn't serve me for ten more minutes. I asked about the bags I saw on th he table and she said they were preorders for pick up. I explained that I worked nights and was on my way home, AND, that there was no one else there to wait on. She again said she wouldn't help me, but that I was more than free to wait. (Did ya ever see the airport scene from Meet The Parents? ) I expressed that I wasn't and left. In the time that I made my request and that it took her to refuse me service, I could've gotten my doughnuts and left. Not very accommodating over ten minutes and no other customers. It's only $10 or so, I guess.

Bogart's is hit or miss. The cake donuts are simply off-putting to both me and my wife. I've tried them twice and they have a bad aftertaste I just can't get over. The raised/yeast donuts can be amazing, but they are sometimes dry and sometimes just odd combinations. When they do get it right, such as is the case with a fresh batch of Brown Butter Glazed; you will be remembering that special moment for weeks or longer. But on the flip side, you could easily stop by here and grab a small bag of donuts, spend $30+ and have nothing but dry flavorless calories. It's a gamble, that really is what it is. Also, keep in mind that the "specials" on their website menu are only available on certain days and seasons so don't expect them to be there when you stop in.

I love living close to Bogarts. Their donuts are simple but amazing. Perfect to fulfill that morning sweet tooth craving. I have had the brown butter glazed, the Nutella filled, the dark chocolate ganache brioche, and buttercream filled donuts. My favorite is definitely the brown butter glazed, but i'd get all of them again. The donuts are great because they're not overpowering, they're not too sweet, but the flavors are amazing. The staff is always friendly and does their best to move quickly when they are busy. I love that they feature someone's instagram post on sundays and give away a box of donuts for it. Someday I'll have to win that!!!!

Show up early or don't show up. This place makes good donuts, but you don't want old ones and you don't want a small selection because they're significantly less good but still cost A LOT. (Other places make fancy, expensive, bad donuts. This place makes simple, expensive, bad-if-not-fresh donuts.) All I can say is that if I'd written a review after my initial early morning visit, it would've been five stars, but after this late morning visit I know quality at this place is highly time-dependant. My word. I have never had a bigger doughnut. The loftiness of the dough, the fillings. I was overwhelmed. Perfectly balanced chaos. I had the brown butter, vanilla buttercream, Nutella, the special (pressed coffee), raised glazed, and lavender. All were special, beautiful, and filled me with a joy I have not felt since childhood. It’s my favorite treat yourself kinda place! (I go to the uptown location) I always get the vanilla buttercream because it’s my favorite. Lately I have been super let down because when I go to cut it open, there is no buttercream or hardly any at all. It’s a huge bummer! When I first started going here about a year ago they were perfect! Now it’s just dry and doughy in the middle, this has been consistent the past 3 times I’ve been. And today my boyfriend and I both got one and they were both bad! It’s annoying because I don’t realize I got a bad one until I get home and I can’t just bring it back. I come in less because of it. What a fantastic place! We went in to pick up a few for some friends and family that were visiting and walked out with four dozen. Varieties were brown butter, glazed, Nutella filled, and vanilla creme filled. They were a huge hit. The dough is uniquely superb. The Nutella filled is a stroke of genius. I haven't been to the location, but our boss has brought boxes of their doughnuts into the office numerous times. On the days we see a "Bogart's Doughnut" box on the table, all of our faces light up like wild-fire. I've had doughnuts from other shops as well (i.e. Denny's 5th Bakery, Glam Doll, Krispy Kreme, Yo-yo's, Mojo Monkey) and Bogart's yeast doughnuts are by far, the best. There's a very hefty weight to them, not dry, perfect chewiness, etc.

This is a pretty average donut place. The selection wasn't very high, the cost is at least $2.50 per donut, but they do look good. I only got the basic donut, the raised glaze. It looks alright, but I felt the glaze was a little low, plus this donut is extremely thick and dense, although it was very soft and chewy. I'm sure the other donuts are similar, this place doesn't have soft and fluffy donuts if that's your type.
